TEW2020 Discussion Thread

<p>Personally I disagree, I really like the sound of the broadcast changes so far. I think they add both more flexibility and help differentiate the types which will make it more interesting in play through. It doesn't sound too complicated rather we get more variety to help replicate real life or potential scenarios. </p><p> </p><p>

I have also seen a few people asking for greater micro management across the board, sometimes at really tedious levels that I feel would detract from the core game play, this I feel is not one that would.</p><p> </p><p>

Appreciate others prefer different experiences hence the setting toggles which may cover more areas again in 2020 enabling players to largely play as suits their preferences</p>

I know there are still months of updates to come but would just like to add that while all the changes so far have sounded great the one I REALLY hope to see is giving human users the option to allow the AI to book shows in their companies. As you grow the number of shows you have to run weekly can sometimes be more than you want to do by hand or in a session and I find myself just wanting an AI booker to book 1 of the weekly TV shows etc to cut down on burn out.

Making the game possible to be much faster to play must always be something that is prioritized, so the level of micro management some ask sometimes is not something I like. Respect for their preferences and opinions always, of course. But this entry actually seems to help immersion and is able to replicate some new scenarios that come and improve the game. I like it, but I hope there is something bigger still to come this week about the broadcaster changes. </p><p> </p><p> Once again, kudos for that EWR vibe. That possibility to divide the income with networks, or from networks to us, is awesome and takes me back twenty years ago or so.</p>

If you want to do something crazy like broadcast PPV while also giving it away for free, there is consequences in doing so.</p>

Hard no, Buddy. Broadcaster adjustments have been needed desperately for awhile and there's some gems here. The ratings disruption in particular is something I've wanted to see modeled since 2013 and is a game changer. Though I do wish there was a set number of viewers per region (influenced by industry strength and population) that could be watching at any given time. It still seems like there's a potentially infinite pool of eyeballs, but this is at least a strong step in the right direction.

Fantastic. Seems like the Monday Night Wars are now finally on. The ratings and the lack of a true ratings war has always been something that has bothered me in the old TEW games. I'm very much looking forward to this. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Fantastic entry today. Game changer with a lot of potential. And after being so vocal about it, i am stoked to see the return of non wrestling shows and the possibility to simulate other periods, like nowadays, where wrestling competes a lot with other non wrestling shows. 5 stars to today's announcement.

But I know there are others, like me, who want more and more control over this game. I don't want to just be a head booker and book shows, I want to run everything from top to bottom about a wrestling company.</p>

<p>I'm very excited about all of the broadcaster updates -- I love the broadcasting overhaul and the strategies that it can entail. It does leave me with a question though.</p><p> </p><p>

When scheduling/negotiating for a TV deal, will there be an option to see what shows are already on that night and their time slots with out having to back out of the negotiation screen?</p>

The biggest feature thus far, and one that I don't see getting topped by anything. This is what I've been waiting for. And I know I'm only one of many. This should make a lot of people very happy. Nice! Now the wait for TEW 2020 has officially begun for me. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

This week's entries have been particularly brilliant so far IMO. Lots of the big things I was hoping for have already been confirmed! Looking forward to the game even more now <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>Great stuff this week!</p><p> </p><p>

2 questions :</p><p> </p><p>

1) why would block taping reduce revenues in any way? It's a pure cost cutting move irl and at worst i could see it giving the shows a slight hit to quality for being a bit stale... And even that only for A shows.</p><p> </p><p>

2) can a child company create its own broadcaster?</p>

A good real life example of this is WWEäs overseas RAWs; they always cause a drop in viewership due to the fact that the results are online before the episode airs in America. It only makes sense: if there's a way to find out what happens on RAW without sitting through the entire thing, why would anyone watch it? Well, why would anyone watch RAW at all, period, is a question in and of itself, but that's a different thread.</p>

There's been some confusion about this feature over at EWB, as well as the Discord, so just for clarification: "block tapings" means that I can now play as WWF 1995, for instance, and tape four episodes of RAW in one sitting, right? As in four episodes of a particular show, as opposed to just taping RAW, SmackDown, Superstars, and Heat on the same day. I just woke up from a nap, so my brain isn't functioning at full capacity, so I hope I phrased the question in a way that makes sense.

But I think that as far as a "benefits and drawbacks" kind of gameplay features goes, this works really well.</p>

<p>I'm wondering more about the impact on the workers of booking a block.</p><p> </p><p>

If you book 4 weekly TV shows for example</p><p>

And a title changes on the 4th when does that flow through and what if you had a title defence on a live show after the recording but before the broadcast goes out?</p><p> </p><p>

Will they get fatigue penalties for booking multiple shows a day?</p><p> </p><p>

How will it impact contracts on pay or appearance limits?</p><p> </p><p>

When it goes out on TV if they are working live somewhere else will that flag up comment anywhere as they are in two places at once on TV? I.e. Rick rude and the difference a day makes</p>
