SWF: Supreme Wrestling Federation

Recommended Posts

Who does everyone enjoy the most? Mikey Lau for me, probably. And the Crippler. A lot of good younger guys I am excited to use more in long-term games when the proper game comes out. I got Des Davids up to a Major Star after my first episode of Supreme TV. Seemed fairly easy, and I gained pop with the first show which I didn't expect as I hadn't yet playing 2020

I had Mikey as my champ for 7 months in 2016 (he was a tough as nails ornery giant killer). I never intended for Davids to be a major player but he got over as a heel and I went with it.

I'm excited because I think 2020 will have more of those surprises with flavor of the month and such.

Is anyone else struggling to get wrestlers to the Major Star/Star perception ranking? Between them I only have 7 wrestlers with only being Major but only another save where I'm playing as my own company and SWF is AI controlled they have 5 Major Stars with another 8 stars. Am I missing something in terms of building up wrestlers?

I posted elsewhere about wrestlers losing lots of popularity in matches with nobody gaining it, leaving me with 2 Major Stars & only 3 Stars. I screenshot all of my shows, started a new save & booked the exact same thing and at the same point now have 4 Major Stars & 6 Stars so I assume that was the issue.

Same on Davids, he isn't someone I have an eye on more than anyone else, but I see he has "it." At least with stats haha.

I would never push Lau to a title run simply because there's never been a lightweight champion before and I don't want to break the gimmick.

I noticed that about the roster in general and I'm a lightweight junkie so it doesn't sit right with me. :p Perhaps you'd compromise in agreeing if there was one lightweight to reign there it should be Mikey.

You won't topple USPW by playing them at their own game. Old man Eisen might have held back talent because they're 'too small' but Eric/Jerry need to embrace the future.

Enjoying the Lau conundrum. He just seems so primed to me to capture the SWF Title by the end of the first year. His SQ and the fact that he's probably the second best babyface in the company (sorry Gilmore, Valiant) means he will get a run with me eventually.

Starting my third SWF save. The second one i got to TV after the second PPV and wasn't happy with the overness of the talent. Everyone lost popularity despite the show doing an 81 and getting us pop for the company. Everyone i booked to win didn't gain any popularity. The people who lost and were kept strong still lost 2-4 points of pop. It was really weird. For Example i did Brown Vs Crippler for the US title. Brown stayed at 64 pop after winning and Crippler went down 3 from 74 to 71 despite being kept strong. Brown had hot momentum, the match itself did mid 70s which was fine. Not sure what was happening there. Same thing happened with Gilmore Vs Atom Smasher, Golden Vs Scythe. This happening to anyone else? I can't get Scythe above his starting pop despite his red hot momentum.

Lau is definitely a future World Champ. I almost agree with Grfc but I think Lau is the 3rd best babyface as I'm a big fan of Valiant. After beating Brandon James and losing in his first World title story with Crippler & Remo his overness is around 77 for me and he is a 'major star'. For me 2021 I think he gets the belt.

Same here. I have him penciled in winning the belt at Supreme Challenge 2021, probably against Remo.

I signed Dharma Gregg as a manager for him, since his entertainment skills are just a bit too low for me.

I did what old time WCW fans will know as the "Ron Garvin". This is where Flair dropped the belt to him before Starrcade and got it back at Starrcade. In this case Mikey won a Supreme Sixpick match at the June PPV. But he didn't pin the champ Jack Bruce (a heel at the time) to win it. So Bruce gets his rematch at The Supreme Challenge.

Looks like I did the Garvin right, use a quick switch to create a main event where the established star goes over. Except Mikey gets his win over Bruce, confirming he's the top guy. In my mind a great moment because he goes from fluke to for real.

I really liked my last 2016 save … but I bloated the roster as I always do (took a lot longer but I did it) and 2020 is on the horizon. I still have it so I can go back to it.

I'm sure this has been answered in this thread already but I'm struggling to find it, but has anyone managed to run the first show as SWF without getting dinged for the lack of interesting storylines in the show grade? It seems very, very difficult to get 2 of the existing / new storylines above 70 in one show without cheesing it by having them both start in an angle featuring Rocky Golden.

I only just about managed it. The existing stories of Lau/Brandon, Rocky/Scythe and Remo/Rogue/Valiant are good enough to be over 70 but the rest are iffy. I just about did it with a Gilmore&Morgan/Unleashed Awesomeness feud and a story where Mainstream & Wright team up and try to entice Emma Chase to be their manager (stole this from somebody earlier on in the thread). Spliting up the triple threat feud after WHFO is beneficial so you could for example have 2 different storylines (Val/Rogue and Remo/any babyface)

I rather take the ding and set up better stories down the road then influence how I play to avoid it.

However if you start a new story with Atom Smasher and Angry Gilmore on the mic/entertainment or fighting that could certainly net you over 70 heat.

Also try using The Crippler in a fighting segment where he beats up someone who sells well. Maybe a Joey Morgan.

I also started a ZWB vs Primus Allen storyline off with a 1v1 match that seems to net a consistent 75 ish rating.

Atom Smasher gets me great use of my undercard hes formed a league of villains with Chill, Avalanche & Bear Bekowski and hes been feuding representations of American Patriotism like American Machine, Masked Patriot & Matty Faith

Also i never get much use out of Robbie Retro the gimmick just stops me from pushing him but i wrote him off with Brandon James injuring him and had Mikey Lau educate Robbie Retro for months the goal would be to change his render to one of him with a martial arts look as Robbie Ronin.

Im just enjoying getting as much usage out of the roster as possible and im a big fan of making sure everybody has something to do

I love those ideas, especially the Robbie Retro gimmick change, because he is hard to push as Robbie Retro

This. Unfortunately Robbie usually ends up getting used as a punching bag. In '16, I formed a stable with Eisen, The Crippler, and a few others bent on ridding the SWF of goofy gimmicks (Robbie, Jungle Lord, Captain Atomic, etc). It actually did a ton of good for Atomic, as I had him turn and join the stable himself (using one of several non-gimmicked alts).

In '16 I pushed Robbie Retro as the Darkness Raider and it was a lot of fun to really push him.

This is something I'm struggling a lot with, I feel like I'm ignoring the entire bottom of the roster by focusing on the top & select midcard feuds to the point that when they're done I have no time left in Supremacy to fit in the rest. You start the game with only Chill as unimportant, by the end of March I have 8 wrestlers as unimportant and a good few Recognisables that could easily join them (and that's without signing or properly calling up anyone new).

Perhaps I'm booking segments to run too long? Any matches I'd define as midcard are usually between 6 & 10 mins, bigger TV matches between 12 but mostly 15 mins to avoid the penalty, and most angles between 5 & 8 mins.
