The "Booking Committee" Thread, 2020 Edition

Recommended Posts

What are some season finale PPV names you guys use? I’m trying to come up with one for Los Angeles Wrestling. I’d like it to be thematic, but also usable in a national promotion, should I expand past regional.

Really, any LAW themed PPVs would be great. My favorite that I’ve come up with is Red Carpet Rumble.

<p>Hello, I'm struggling to create new gimmicks. I can imagine "This guy will be an arrogant" "This guy will be edgy" or "This guy wears a stenson hat, he will be a cowboy or The Far West Guy !" </p><p> </p><p>

Well ... Just "Arrogant Gimmick" I think it's a bit too easy. I mean, I could have three "Cow Boy" or "Far West guy", five "Arrogant" and six "Cool Babyface guy". </p><p> </p><p>

So I'm here to ask you some tips to embellish all that and select a cool name for it. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I mean, you just need to go back and watch some WWE stuff for how they describe people, lol. They get so purple prose with describing wrestlers and just force it down your throat. Riff off that and you'll get some ideas.

<p>Trying to play around with a <strong>mid-2000s </strong>IRL game, where <strong>The Rock </strong>sets up a wrestling company on the <strong>West Coast </strong>as a hobby / after falling out with <strong>Vince McMahon</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>

The idea is to lean on Rock's Hollywood era and gimmick by calling it the <strong>Hollywood Grappling Company </strong>(nod to CVERSE), with its flagship program called <strong>Championship Wrestling from Hollywood </strong>(nod to IRL). </p><p> </p><p>

The problem is, after that initial idea, I'm all out of ideas! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I've got some ideas, like giving some nods to the old NWA Hollywood / WWA by having a LeBell Cup, making use of luchadores and Japanese wrestlers, etc... And also since its the Rock, Islanders and the like are a must. And since he's only got daughters, the idea of introducing a women's division from the start has some merit. </p><p> </p><p>

But I've not got much else going on, like how many titles the company should have, whether it should be television only or have bigger events, if I should give it enough pop to get to Cult and a decent television deal or just do California local TV or something else. </p><p> </p><p>

So I'm amenable to any suggestions people might have! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

So that's either 9 or 18 nights of of the tournament shows to run, if you have the stomach for it, plus an extra night for the two block final header. </p><p> </p><p> I'm at work right now so I'd have to wait to get home and have a look at the game for how to do it in-game as well.</p>

SWF Power Struggle

I'm in February 2020 and I'm trying to figure out how to book an on-screen power struggle between Eric/Emma and Jerry Eisen. Rocky beat Scythe at the January PPV (in part due to a Skull DeBones ddistraction) and is due to face Rogue at the February PPV. Rogue beat Remo and Valiant by pinning Valiant after The Crippler interfered on his behalf. The triple threat was a #1 contenders match and Rogue has denied any alliance or deal with The Crippler.

Meanwhile, Eric Eisen & Emma Chase have started a stable adding Atom Smasher and Bear Bekowski so far but publicly stating that their number one priority is getting Rocky Golden to join.

So far Eric has not stated any intentions to seize control from Jerry but that is his end goal, complete ownership of SWF.

How could Eric seize power in storyline from Jerry? My original thought was that Eric tries to gain every Title in SWF and threatens to walk out of SWF with those wrestlers and the SWF Titles unless Jerry gives him ownership of SWF. DO you think that would be the best way to do the story? Other ideas?

Also, what about the timing of the story. Originally I was thinking the power struggle doesnt publicly "start" until Supreme Challenge 2020 or the Supreme TV after it and goes through 6 months to 1 year, culminating at Supreme Challenge 2021. Or should it start at (about) the February PPV in 2020?

Also, I was considering having Skull DeBones as a guardian of sorts to the success of SWF and possibly secretly working for Jerry Eisen throughout this whole power struggle. Right now he is distracting/haunting Scythe because he (or Jerry or both of them) doesn't feel Scythe is ready (or as marketable as Golden) to be World Champion or something like that...

Thinking about booking a three way stable feud between Elite (Omega, Cody, Page, Bucks), Inner Circle and a Tully led group.

Other than Spears and FTR, who else could be in Tully's group? I would need someone to fill the main event role and a future prospect role.

Do you think there's a way to introduce Flair as manager of the Inner Circle, resulting in Arn, Tully and Flair all acting as opposing managers?

I do have some issues with the lack of a clear baby-face group to win the feud. Elite could play that role, but it feels a bit weak having the owners of the company win

Anybody have any suggestions for a female stable who think they are in a different class to the other women, in ring and in the looks department. Similar to The Beautiful People, The Doll House, Allure etc.

The group is Madison Rayne, Macey Estrella and Jinny Couture.

Edit: Thinking of 'Pretty Tough'

I'm looking for some assistance with a situation that recently came up in my current save.

I'm running an Insignificant company in Scandinavia, and I just entered my second year in-game. My current champion is Karen Bilous, and she has been incredible. She's the most popular member of my roster, and she consistently has performances in the high 50s to low 60s. In terms of my decision to make her champion, I have no regrets, and I hope that she can continue to help lifting my company to greater heights.

However, the first show of the new year presented a big problem. I had just hired Lothar Prime to fill a recently vacated spot in my roster, and I put him in the main event as Karen's next title defense. And in his first night in the company, he winds up botching a move and injuring Karen's back. Now Lothar's fired, and Karen's going to be out for the next two months while she heals.

So this is what I want to ask. Karen is currently 2 defenses into her reign, so would it be better to vacate the title and give it to someone else for two months so that Karen can win it back when she returns? Or should I leave the title on her and run my shows without a champion until she returns in two months?

For some added information that may be relevant, I run one show a month, so this decision would impact the next two shows. In addition, I'm currently running a tournament that will crown the inaugural winner of my secondary title, and the finals will take place on the second show that Karen will be absent for.

I would just let the tournament carry the shows. I personally wouldn't take the title off of her if she's only going to miss two shows. Something you could do either another mini-tournament to crown a number 1 contender for her to face when she returns or a battle royal to do so. That can make up for any matches that you need to fill the cards. Another option is to reveal that someone hired Lothar to injure her on purpose and you can use that to establish a big-time heel or have one of your faces turn heel.

Thank you for the suggestions. I booked my next show around the two tournaments, and everything went pretty well. My planned winners are both looking great, and I have a good feeling about the future.

Only problem is that the very next day, Karen announced her plans to retire. I think that I'm going to let her win her defense and drop the title after she retires, since I wanted her to be a strong champion and I want her to be able to go out on a high since I wasn't able to give her the dominant reign that I had planned for.

Come to an event which a cage match. Any suggestions on how I could book a cage match as a draw. As ideally I don’t want either guy losing this one right now.

It depends on what type of cage match it is. If it escapes the cage then you can do both wrestlers get out at the same time. If it is a regular cage match the only real way to get out of it without screwing the fans and with neither person losing is going to a time limit draw.

It’s an escape the cage finish. I’m just looking for something a bit more shocking that both touching down the same time. I was thinking of a bump off the top to the outside. But I can’t for the life of me think of a move that could happen that could be done from the top of a cage without it looking far too staged in my mind.

Looking for some assistance booking RAW.

I'm going to be booking an Anti-Australia gimmick where two British wrestlers (ideally a tag team) to come in as Ambassadors to Australia but will be typical smarmy British heels, unsure who to bring in though.

Can't be anyone from 21CW.

So I’ve got my top baby face has been chasing a title for a year. He’s set to win it off my top heel. However I want to turn my face to a heel basically planning to take over the company from the owner. But what I’m struggling with is how can I have a storyline with a wrestler trying to take the company over that makes sense.

Would help if we knew the companies or characters involved. Even just the size of the company. Is it a huge national, is it a small time indie promotion?

I mean if you've got a TV deal have it be "the network" handing more and more influence to the star because he's good for ratings. Have him start just changing things on the fly and doing what he wants, ignoring his boss because he knows that the network will just vouch for him. Then just go from there. Have him take more and more liberties until eventually he's just outright booking matches for other people and moving into his boss's office when they aren't around

Yes sorry I should have given more details. It’s a big company with a tv deal and actually TV executives giving him power is absolutely perfect! Thank you!
