The "Booking Committee" Thread, 2020 Edition

Recommended Posts

I’m looking for some opinions for a Jannetty to a Michaels.

Maybe someone who’s a rookie, and unemployed. Someone you’d give a long tag push.

I know I can do a search in the dB and I am , I’m just looking for some opinions as I’m not really familiar with the cverse . Thanks.

Who's your Michaels? That will affect what kind of things you're looking for.

A character I created, someone I can take on a long term game with.

Low to ok skills to start, loads of potential, and good on the mic. I’m a guy who digs long term and develop things.

Has a temper, soft drug user....yea I make people fun.

seriously think of him as Michaels when he really started. He’s not someone you’d base the promotion around now but in the future, he’ll be the guy.

So you need someone relatively bland. Try Remmy Honeyman or maybe Riley Mcmanus? There are better examples but those two jump out to me.

The little I have played the cverse in 2016 he was someone I defaulted to for that Barry Horowitz spot, more so than Ben Williams. So it’s funny you mention him. He was an instahire for me during the beta. I’ll have to check out Mcmanus

Thanks.

<p>Apologies in advance for the following wall of text.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm booking TCW and have recently turned Flyin Jimmy Foxx heel, adopting the more serious name of James Foxx, he is now feuding with former partner Benny Benson, over the course of the feud he's gonna get an (as yet unnamed) group, consisting of Brandon James (stolen from SWF) mainly in a manager/advisor role (with occasional matches) and Killer Shark as a bodyguard.</p><p> </p><p>

My question is, Shark is still in the Sinner Society and currently has a no dq match with Mighty Meat, at Battleground III to end that feud, Foxx's stable isn't set up yet and as both groups would be heel, there is no way to feud them and have Shark switch sides, so my conundrum is, how do I get Shark out of SS convincingly without causing a face turn?</p><p> </p><p>

Once he leaves he'll then float as a singles for a month or two whilst the moving parts for Foxx's group comes together.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks in advance.</p>

So I’m playing as Evolve. I’m using proper booking that my product calls for it. The regional results at the end of the month has had me last while others like gcw, czw and 3 other promotions finished way ahead of me. They all had a avg show rating of at least 75. </p><p> </p><p>

What can I do to my show ratings up? My feuds are hot to.</p>

Well, this is my first TEW game and I'm playing with APW. There's a provided storyline where Dingo Devine (former champ) and Scottie Hamstead (current champ) are fighting over the company's top belt. However, there's also a major star Christopher Gerard who is very hot and is in the storyline where he's after the stable that Hamstead is in (Goliath Global) but not directly involved with Hamstead at the start.

It's been 2,5 months and both the storylines are very hot for my company (getting 50s in rating). I want Devine's story to end and Gerard instead gunning for the top belt. Are there any consequences of ending a storyline at its peak? or maybe are there even any rewards? How long do you all usually keep a storyline going?

That...might actually work... they have lost the tag titles fairly early in the game and have recently kicked Nick Booth out for consistent losses.

I could do this and also use this as a catalyst for my planned idea of rebuilding the Society with new members.

Can anyone think of a good name for HOODSLAM style Stoner promotion, but for a fictional universe like the C-Verse or T-Verse? It might be better if the name didn't specify a location. So while "Emerald City Wrestling" might be a good name for a Seattle based Stoner promotion, it's also a bit limiting. </p><p> </p><p>

"Red Light Wrestling" or something based off the idea of a "Red Life District" is another idea I had but I'm not happy with that either.</p>

Dude you book at the speed of light compared to me. Then again, I am often somewhat less than sober when I play this game....

So I actually trained with the guys who started HOODSLAM not relevant but just giving myself cool points :p. As for your question going off of the given name.

GHETTOSLAM - Hood and ghetto are essentially the same in this context

Hoodwinked - HOODSLAM has a bit of third wall breaking involved in there shows and this would refer to how wrestling is all a work.

Championship Battle Destruction - CBD

Well being sober helps. I usually have a loose idea of where I want to go for the PPV and just book to that. I also have a basic formula that I follow when booking depending on product it may change. Right now playing 2004 ROH I have a monthly four show taping block each an hour long. Each show goes like this.

Unimportant vs Recognizable. 10 min opener work the crowd

Recognizable/well known vs Recognizable/well known (can be a tag match) 15 min. steal the show

Star vs Star 20 min

Major star/star vs Major star/star (can be a tag match) 20 min technical masterpiece.

I fill in the gaps based on who is going to be challenge whom for the various titles and who I am trying to build in the under card. I can also change it up and do like a 4 way or something like that.

For a WCW of WWE style 2 hour show.

Unimportant vs Recognizable. 10 min opener work the crowd

Angle for major feud

Tag match 15 min

angle for major feud/main event of the night.

Recognizable/well known vs Recognizable/well known 15 min (if WCW this would be the TV title match) Story telling

Angle for another feud

star vs star (can be tag) 15/20 min

Final angle

Major star/star vs Major star/star (can be a tag match) 20 min

If you keep a formula in mind booking goes quick as you just have to plug workers in and change it up week to week with singles and tags.

That’s good stuff, frantic. I never use work the crowd though because I usually start with a hot angle that sets up my main event, but the rest of your suggestions I could totally steal

EDIT: also, my matches are never usually that long on tv, 16 min for a main event, then anywhere between 4 and 12 minutes depending on the push and the story I want the match to tell

My tv is angle heavy too. Where you have five matches and four angles, I’d have five matches and ten angles

That works to, it is really just whatever formula you have and plugging in the workers. Just keep in mind your product settings and work within that. Knowing what you want your PPV to look like helps because then you just book backwards from there.

Has anyone come up with any really good talk show segment names they'd like to share? Hitting a brick wall with what to call the ones I'm trying to plan.

I brought in Jack Bruce in my current SWF save and have him do a segment called "You Don't Know Jack". I have him interview low level workers who could use the help with their storyline heat. Who do you have or want to get to run the segment? I usually try to make it a play of their name.
