The "Booking Committee" Thread, 2020 Edition

I mean if Dusty is around he'd probably build some crazy contraption or structure to put everyone in. Or a scaffold maybe? They loved a scaffold in those days

The obvious is to do a battle royal or a gauntlet but it's not very exotic.

I thought about a battle royale, but I have a Casino Battle Royale at Halloween Havoc and Battlebowl already planned.

Thought about a straight up tournament called the Gold Rush where the winner wins the Golden Ticket, but I'm still trying to iron out what ppvs and tournaments are scheduled and when.

I always loved when WCW would use the Lethal Lottery Tag Team mechanism. I know that's already a part of Battle Bowl, but maybe just an additional Lethal Lottery Tournament for a prize at some point in the year could be fun.

I have a UK ppv planned when I get bigger and I have a London Lethal Lottery tournament planned for that! Great minds think alike.

I really want to do a MITB type gimmick with WCW in 91, but a multi man ladder match is a little "too much" for 1991.

Was thinking of calling it the Golden Ticket, but trying to come up with a good match type.

Any ideas?

Since ladder matches already existed, I'm going to assume that it's the multi-man part that's too much. In that case...

16-man qualifying singles matches. 8-man Lethal Lottery. The winning partners fight each other next week, and the winners of those matches have a ladder match at the PPV to grab the Golden Ticket.

I am playing a WCW save and I'm in 1997. Bryan Clarke just became a free agent and I thought I had him signed, but alas the WWF got him back instead. I wanted him so I could recreate the Wrath/Mortis team which I really liked. However, I don't want to use the editor to make it happen.

Who could I team Kanyon up with to introduce the Mortis character and get the same effect as the Wrath/Mortis team?

The two ideas I currently have are Vader who I just recently signed and thus far have just kind of been using him as a paid mercenary, and The Warlord who I also just signed and is being managed by Kevin Sullivan. Having Sullivan manage Kanyon/Mortis may also help me push him faster as he doesn't have much pop at all right now.

Other ideas that people have of guys around in this timeframe?

Is Kane available? In my game I have him as Doomsday (Kane attire though) in a faction with Wrath and Mortis led by James Mitchell.

Brian Adams is the first name that comes to mind

What about an erstwhile WCW monster whose push fell through though? Ice Train or Scott Norton

John Nord is not the correct answer, but it is the answer that makes me most happy.

How do you book AEW? Like, the special Dynamites. Do you change the name of the show for that specific event, and than change it back to just Dynamite?

I run the specials on Saturday, but I also added an event broadcasting deal with TNT. It's not how they do it, but it's the easiest method in my opinion.

Might seem like an odd question, but how would you all go about bringing The Briscoes into AEW? I'm doing an AEW save (with December 2021 data) thinking of having them come in to feud with FTR.

I recreated the results through Holiday Bash, so New Year's Smash will be my first show I book myself in this save. Part of me thinks it'd be cool to have them debut on the special New Year's Smash show to give it some extra buzz, but doing back to back debuts (O'Reilly and then The Briscoes) seems like a lot.

Booking The Briscoes vs. FTR for Battle of the Belts makes sense but 1. doing so at this point would really undercut the build/there would only be a week to do it, and 2. the show already has two matches (Danielson/Page and Baker/Riho) that should get a good amount of time, so adding a third big bout doesn't make a lot of sense.

So with that in mind, the next two short-term options would be Dynamite in North Carolina on January 12 and Dynamite in Washington DC on January 19. Which of these would make more sense? The Briscoes are from Delaware, so both would be rougly local-ish...?

Could have them lose to bullshit, Tully? Maybe? Then have them earn a rematch January 12th. Have the rematch on the 19th? Otherwise I'd just have them debut on the special.

North Carolina would be too far south. Google the Delmarva Peninsula and think of that as a guide. Delmarva is a portmanteau. Delaware, Maryland, Virginia. Heck, even in the case of Virginia, I wouldn't expect the Briscoes to get nearly the same homer response in Norfolk or Hampton as I would in a more northern city like Fredricksburg. Somewhere in between the two like Richmond might even be iffy. It's mostly that Delmarva area where I would expect Dem Boys to provide the local bounce.</p>

Personally I'd debut them at Battle of the Belts

Maybe in a non-wrestling angle, like a simple confrontation? That could be good.

Good idea, but I don't want to rush it, so I might have them debut at Battle of the Belts and build up the match.

That's very, very helpful, thank you! I wasn't sure, so that gives me a much better sense of the local pop aspect.

Thanks for the input, everyone, I appreciate it!

I am currently playing a Small-ish Canadian company in the C-Verse. I have two questions....

Currently I have a Main Title, Secondary Title and Tag Titles. I am looking to make a sort of "gimmick" title that could be a floating level title that has rules and style that are more than just "Hardcore" or "High Flying" any ideas? My product is No-Style Style so nothing is off limits.

Secondly, I was looking to form a sort of Cult-Like Stable, with Supernatural Elements. I'm not too familiar with the 2020 C-Verse to know which wrestlers on the indy level I could bring to form such a group.

I always liked Stardom’s “High Speed” name for their belt, rather than High Flying.

So maybe something like a match where the first person to stop moving loses? No rest holds, no pinfalls, no submissions. Indie shows tend to be spot-fests anyway, so this at least gives them an excuse.

Aldous Blackfriar is *the* occult star of the indies in the Cverse. A talented youngster though he doesn't have much (or any?) name value in Canada. There's the masked veteran Acid who has some popularity in Canada. Frankie Dee would be a great fit for you I think. Hugh de Aske nominally does a pirate gimmick but I guess you could put a Curse Of The Black Pearl spin on it and have him be a ghostly/zombie/supernatural pirate. He's a great worker with some decent name value in Canada - it will only be a matter of time before the big leagues sign him away though.
