Do you hire and push a worker "just because"

Recommended Posts

For no reason other then I like them, I always hire and push both Quentin Queen and The Silencer in almost every one of my games, if it's in a RTG game or messing around with one of the bigger promotions. I once put the strap on The Silencer in his first match with SWF in 2016 and somehow someway that went over, I haven't done anything significant with QQ other then make him my champ in my farm league/tiny promotion.

Who do you guys pick up for no other reason then "because"

I tend to play real world mods so there's often people I hire and push just because I like them.

In an early 90s mod I like to hire Tatanka to the WWF and give him a run as the Intercontinetal champion. Usually I work in a feud between him and Bam Bam Bigelow and Bam Bam will get a run with the IC title as well. Crush and Adam Bomb are both guys I like to hire and push.

In early 2000s mods it's generally people like Trent Acid getting a chance in a big company. I also always like to have Shane Helms and Shannon Moore.

A big part of playing the real world mods and doing fantasy booking in them for me is doing what I wish the companies had done with certain individuals. I'm in a 2004 mod as TNA right now and guys like Charlie Haas and Sean Morley are being pushed as stars. Stevie Richards had a run in the main event scene. Low Ki is the top baby face in my development company. Christopher Daniels is a top guy on my main roster.

I have always loved hiring Mimic and JOJI. I feel bad for JOJI and Mimic to me is the Raven that every company I run needs in it.

Never looked at Mimic...but I may now.

So to answer the original question...I need someone methi g to go on, but not much.

I do the same with Tatanka. Never a main event world title push but always a mainstay in the IC division from 91-97

I always get Greg Gauge and Fro Sure. But theyre both kinda good.

Annihilus and Prometheus fit this bill more for me because I really do push them JUST BECAUSE. Actually in my last (and longest) 2016 game they developed quite nicely and became huge stars in time and weren't terrible in the ring. Like... mega huge stars. Arguably the two top dogs in the world at one point. They won multiple tag team of the year awards for me and both had stellar singles runs before they finished their careers as a reunited tag team again.

In this game... I got em over easy enough (SQUASH!!!!) but they are both just... not very good in the ring.

BUT I HAVE TO HAVE THEM

Call me Uncle Vince. I see a person I like the "look" of (or an alt or rerender here) and - "I JUST HAVE TO HAVE THEM NOW!" and I immediately sign them and work them into my plans. Sometimes this obviously doesn't work.

I take people who look alike and tag them up - Leon Maine and Will Beaumont, for example. Always a team. I also team up Colin Piccalo with Charlie Cain. I also team up Pryme Time Jack with Zippy.

The person might not even have stats that align with their render's appearance. I will still take the bait. It's just fun.

I sign schmucks like Coco Malloy, DupliKate, and The Ring Generals - those guys are old now, and I still start games by signing them for 10 years. These guys suck - their popularity will never hit above the 60s range. But, I still view them as my FTR, and still bring them in every time.

I also feel this booking style adds realism and believability. Vince pops wood when he sees Great Khali or Brodus Clay. Nobody else did, but we still had to tolerate them for too long on our TV screens. Vince also didn't like the look of certain people who could've been great. I do this, too. I never sign certain folks I should - because I think their render is ugly, even if they're a good worker. "Nope. My fans won't be into this one." I picture JR over my shoulder selling me the worker's skills and attributes, but "I don't like the look."

I was thinking more about this and another pair that I always hire are Steve Corino and Christopher Daniels. I started hiring them as a tag team and calling them Death Inc. since EWR. Ever version has had different success. Sometimes they are the main event tag team in games and sometimes they are middle of the road, or just jobbers. I always hire them though.

Similar to how I always hire Poppa Swole, Tayvon Blake, and Public Enemy #1 to pop them into a stable, often feuding with The Casey Family (Bob managing Chuck and Tully) and The Ring Generals.

I can't get over the generals - they're not really a good team, they're not over anywhere, and their age is a concern for the longer haul. But I sold myself on them LONG ago, and cannot seem to get over it.

I do the same with Dreadnought, Juggernaut Jones, and Original Sinner - they become a stable just because sentimentals. If they get whomped with bad chemistry, I use them as solo guys instead of tag guys. I also usually stick them into the above named feud as a third team.

I usually sign The Back Country Boys and LA Stars.

I always sign my favorites, get them over, and let them walk when they don't wanna be in development anymore. It's fun to see which teams move from my developmental companies into the major scenes of the other companies.

This is the first time that I haven't signed the Ring Generals. I've used them for years in dozens of saves but this time around they're just so, meh. It was hard to resist though. Very hard. In fact, I might just go and have another look at them now, I could do with another midcard team...

Yep.

In my Real World mods I play, I pick up Cheerleader Melissa and push her to the moon and back. Annie Social, Christina Von Eerie, & April Hunter usually find a way on my roster. I like grabbing Demolition, Jake Roberts, and Road Warrior Animal, too. Bret Hart usually finds a way to be my Booker. I get Karen Jarett and Jasmin St.Clair for my Announcer table, and Jim Cornette is a must have.

The WWE likes releasing Taker in my games so I snag him and job him.

I think the answer you're looking for though is Goldust. Goldust carries one of my belts for a while. I like trying to get him in the Hall of Immortals. Oh! Barry Horowitz too! That guy. If the WWE releases him, I'm all over The Miz, too.

That's one of the rate situations in which I use tag team members in both tag team and one on one feuds. It depends on what I need at the moment and I know I can generally put them with anyone.</p>

In the CVerse 97 mods, I would always push Jack Marlowe as a Goldberg type character, going on a streak for over 200 wins... I just imagine the crowds chanting "MAAARRR-lowe... MAAARRR-lowe". <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
