EMLL: Fantasía Oscura [C'Verse, Multiplayer]

This is going to be a different kind of project. A project that I haven't seen on the boards before (though it may have existed somewhere). This is a multiplayer project, but not one where we are all playing together. Not one where we are all running our own separate companies and it isn't even one where we are all running the same company at the same time.

This is a game, and a dynasty, where we are treating EMLL like one might a comic book franchise. The writers on this project are going to write 6-episode/issue arcs and then they are done (at least for awhile) and a new writer takes over. We aren’t planning anything out together. Each writer has carte blanche to take the story where they want to take it and the subsequent writer(s) pick up from there and develop the story how they see fit. We find out what’s happening when you do.

The writers on this project at this time are:

Falling_star -- Known for his highly touted Total Championship Wrestling: Wrestling Wonderland and his Lucha Underground Alternate Reality diaries.

Dalton -- Known for his award-winning All Elite Wrestling -- Are You #AllElite diary as well as The Mad King Returns and Pro Wrestling NOKORI.

Sco__xY2Jx -- Known for his Mid Atlantic Wrestling -- The Sam Keith Saga and HGC -- The Era of Hollywierd diaries.

And me. Your friendly neighborhood Historian.

We hope to produce something different. Something of quality that captures your imagination and brings the comic book style of EMLL to life while telling compelling stories with definitive arcs.

We invite you on this journey with us. To flip through the pages of each issue and lose yourself in a story of good versus evil. Heroes versus villains. Tecincos versus Rudos. Of demons and time cops. Of old worlds and new. Of gods and mortals. Of a dark fantasy.

We are VERY excited for this! Tons of ideas were floated around, from basic to very very complex.

EMLL exists in this unique spot, somewhere between Lucha Underground and a full-blown comic book. As such, there will be influence from a wide variety of media. From Superman, to Avengers, to Watchmen, to your favorite TV shows, and back to Lucha Underground. I know I have some ideas based on existing story arcs from a couple TV shows, but I don't know if I'll be able to implement them!

As Historian said, the four of us have agreed to NOT share their plans for after their time as the writer. That means we do not know about any signings, releases, title changes, factions, nothing. That extra wrinkle means the next person cannot plan ahead until it is their turn!

This is going to be a really fun little journey to take, it's cool how everything has come together on this idea. Looks like I have the privilege of getting us kicked off, so buckle up everybody!

This won't be a far leap from my <a href="http://greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=550537" rel="external nofollow">Lucha Underground</a> dynasty, so there's lots of places to draw inspiration from as we move forward. I'm plotting and planning now for the first arc, and we'll get things rolling!

This is an interesting and unique concept for the boards that is completely out my proverbial wheelhouse. EMLL is nothing like I've ever booked and written before so provides an excellent challenge that I'm happy to be a part of and, like my fellow writers, we're excited and eager to present.

LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

Dear Immortals,

Welcome to Fantasía Oscura, presented by Extremo Moderno Lucha Libre!

As we head into 2020, we’d like to take just a moment to recap what we know about EMLL headed into the new year. Coming out of December, there were two big occurrences that happened at The Destiny Crisis 2019: Captain Lucha reclaimed the Campeonato del Mundo EMLL from Demon King, and Death’s Head claimed the Ring of Destiny for the Kingdom of Blood! After his defeat, Demon King swore vengeance on Captain Lucha and claimed that he would “assemble an army” to reclaim the Campeonato del Mundo EMLL. Conversely, after winning the Ring of Destiny, Death’s Head announced that he intended to unite the rings for the glory of the Kingdom of Blood.

Dolphin Master also had a major moment in December, triumphing over Samael the Accuser's attempts to wrestle the Ring of Life away from him. Ever since his debut in EMLL, Samael the Accuser has been pulling the strings of several luchadores to get closer to his true desire of uniting the Rings of Power; but he fell short of toppling Dolphin Master and claiming the Ring of Life. How will Samael rebound in 2020? As for Dolphin Master, it appears his next challenger has much the same goal in mind: Ring of Destiny holder Death’s Head has set his sights on the Avenger From Aquatic Earth.

As for the third Ring of Power, the Ring of Chaos, holder Anarchist had used it from April until November to control La Bestia Morada until the Man-Beast From The Multiverse broke the spell. Unfortunately for Anarchist, however, months under the spell of the Ring has left Bestia hungering for another taste of its power-- and he’ll stop at nothing to get it!

Demon King is not the only one with the Campeonato del Mundo EMLL on his mind, as the uneasy alliance between Guerrero Muerto and Snake King came crumbling down in December. Now these two titans of the Multiverse find themselves on opposing sides with a meeting in battle not far off. Can Muerto put a stop to the mighty Snake King and his Immortal Snake God?

Cyclops issued his latest prophecy at The Destiny Crisis, it was simple and direct: DeCipher cannot be allowed to hold a Ring of Power. Of all the luchadores questing to combine the Rings of Power, DeCipher’s name has never been mentioned as one who craved the power… but he took exception to the prophecy, and launched an attack. Now these two luchadores are surely on a collision course as we enter the new year.

We also saw something strange happen at The Destiny Crisis: heroes banding together! Just as Charron and Samael the Accuser revealed their plot to bring together the Rings of Power, as many had thought Cyclops would prophesy, they were swarmed by Aprendiz Jr., Blue Wolf, and Scorpion who vowed that they would never let their plot come to pass.

Lucha Ref has been a source of controversy in EMLL for months, seemingly in the back pocket of the Dark Universe jester, Trickster. But El Hijo Del Fantasma is having no more of it-- the Hellmouth Guardian has made it his goal to cut Trickster off from his source of power, and end his control over Lucha Ref once and for all.

And, finally, Rey Soldado thinks he may have found the source of the time fracture that is keeping him and Time Corps from reaching Earth-- but he’s not going to be able to fix it without going through Screamer first!

On the following pages, we’ll take a look at where each luchador hails from in the Multiverse! Thank you for reading Immortals, we'll see you in the ring!

EMLL: Fantasía Oscura

Issue #1, Volume #1: El Consejo Infernal Se Reúne -- MEGA-SIZED!

A crowd of nearly one thousand Immortals has gathered at the Palacio de Lucha, all chanting and eager for EMLL lucha! 2020 marks the beginning of the company running two shows a month, as well as referring to each show as an “issue,” a la comic book franchises. Given their larger than life storylines, it seems a fitting evolution in the company’s existence and they licensed the idea liberally in the company merchandise for the show-- in addition to all the normal t-shirts and posters, they also sold comic-style “Issue #1” t-shirts that we see littered throughout the crowd, featuring Captain Lucha, Demon King, Guerrero Muerto, Anarchist, Dolphin Master, and Death’s Head in an over the top comic book cover.

As the crowd mills around, suddenly there’s a commotion at the luchador entrance; a dozen or so paparazzi flood out from behind the curtain, flash bulbs going off and everyone making a scene. The crowd cheers at the show beginning, but it quickly becomes booing because they know the paparazzi signals the arrival of The Hollywood Luchador himself, La Estrella. He shows off for the cameras, smiling and waving at the crowd as he makes his way down the long aisle of the Palacio de Lucha towards the ring. When he gets ringside, he finally waves off the paparazzi and they stay back taking pictures for a moment before going out to take places in the crowd.

“Oh, how I’ve missed you all,” La Estrella begins, as usual, to a chorus of boos. “I wish I could tell you all about my latest film, but, such is the lucha code, you must never know my name without the mask. I’m so proud, and I’m sure you’ll all see it because I’m the only legitimate star in EMLL, and the only man worth your money in Hollywood!” The Hollywood Luchador goes on for a minute or two about his fame and talent, really fluffing his own ego for a moment before moving on to address tonight’s match.

“Now, someone tells me there’s a little doggy around here barking that he’s the biggest star in the sky… simply put, no. There is no star that burns brighter in all of Mexico, in all of EMLL, in all of Hollywood… in all of the WORLD… than La Estrella.”

After a brief beat, a few of the paparazzi near the entrance begin taking pictures again, much to the chagrin of La Estrella who loudly orders them to stop.

“Stop! Do not waste your film!” he pleads with the paparazzi as Boriken Love Machine Jr. makes his way in the arena, really showing off for the cameras and the crowd. He struts down to the ring, waving his hands to make La Estrella clear the center of the squared circle so that he can have center stage to pose for a moment.

“La Estrella, The Hollywood Luchador,” Love Machine begins, the arrogant smirk on his face almost visible through his lucha mask. “You know, they say that man who has to stroke his own ego has the smallest stature of them all… and you certainly do enough of that for the both of us, don’t you, friend?”

La Estrella nods, and brushes a shock of blonde hair out of his eyes.

“The Immortals love me,” Estrella asserts, Boriken shaking his head as the crowd vocally disagrees.

“No!” Boriken shouts. “The Immortals love… me!” He strikes another pose, but the crowd isn’t any more enthused to see him than they are Estrella. The two luchadores continue arguing for several minutes before push starts coming to shove, and a fight begins to break out. The crowd finally does begin to cheer at the appearance of referee Benito Garcia, who charges down to the ring and gets between the two luchadores to separate them. He pushes them apart, and signals the beginning of the match, as is EMLL tradition, by screaming, “FIGHT!” at the two luchadores.

LA ESTRELLA VS BORIKEN LOVE MACHINE JR.

The crowd wasn’t entirely sure what to think at first, given that neither luchador was a fan favorite, but the pair won them over with a car crash opener that spilled out of the ring and went through the ringside crowd at one point. There was lots of posing and trash talking between them at various points, and several high spots that took them from the inside of the ring to the outside. La Estrella picks up the win in just under thirteen minutes with a Hollywood Press.

WINNER: LA ESTRELLA

Once the ring cleared out, the fans were buzzing for the next bout… and they weren’t at all enthused to see Blue Wolf make his entrance next. The crowd were vocally against the babyface blue chipper, and the booing only intensified when his opponent, Samael the Accuser, made his entrance to the Palacio de Lucha.

SAMAEL THE ACCUSER VS BLUE WOLF

The crowd was vocally against seeing Blue Wolf here, and since the Immortals see no redeeming qualities in Samael, either, they were not into this bout at all. Samael made waves before the show by saying that he would banish Blue Wolf to The Dark Universe if victorious, which actually drew the interest of the Immortals when Samael picked up the victory with his devastating Poison of God finisher.

WINNER: SAMAEL THE ACCUSER

After having his hand raised by Lucha Ref, Samael goes on the attack, putting the boots to Blue Wolf and teasing the aforementioned banishment. Just as he retrieves a large, leatherbound book marked “Magia Del Universo Oscuro” from beneath the ring, the Immortals begin to cheer as Aprendiz Jr. makes his way into the arena! Charging the ring, he blindsides Samael and puts in some fists and forearms before The Dark Universe puppet master takes off out of the arena. Aprendiz enters the ring to help Blue Wolf get back to his feet, checking on the rookie and raising his hand triumphantly, trying to get the crowd behind him with minimal success.

TRICKSTER VS EL HIJO DEL FANTASMA

As has been the case for months now, Trickster had Lucha Ref on his side and very much under his control to make bad calls in his favor. El Hijo Del Fantasma tried to put a stop to it multiple times, eventually taking control of the bout so that there was no doubt who was winning. Eventually, though, Trickster would manage to snag a submission hold and Lucha Ref called for the submission victory despite Fantasma clearly never having given up.

WINNER: TRICKSTER

El Hijo Del Fantasma pops up as soon as the hold is released, shoving Lucha Ref into a corner and berating him for the loss. Trickster comes to Lucha Ref’s aid, taking Fantasma down from behind with a Backstabber and booting him out of the ring. For a moment, Lucha Ref seems to be broken out of a trance, staring at Trickster; he looks to the ringside timekeeper as if he is contemplating changing his decision in the match, but Trickster wags his finger and then starts twirling it in a circle. Lucha Ref seems to snap to attention, nodding his head and giving a wicked smile before leaving the arena with Trickster.

DOLPHIN MASTER VS ANARCHIST

Anarchist starts off the match by attempting to gain control over Dolphin Master with his Ring of Chaos the way he had previously over La Bestia Morada, but the Ring of Life seems to make Dolphin Master impervious to the mind control. After the shenanigans with the ring are out of the way, a decent match breaks out with Anarchist working in a few smoke and mirrors sort of spots that make it look like he’s using chaos magic. But, in the end, he falls to a Dolphininsher from Dolphin Master.

WINNER: DOLPHIN MASTER

Dolphin Master is leaving the ring when La Bestia Morada runs past him as the crowd cheers; he’s looking for a piece of Anarchist now that the mind control has been broken! Anarchist gets to his feet just before Morada hits the ring, and immediately tries to beg off. Morada hesitates, and Anarchist holds up the Ring of Chaos in an attempt to regain his mind control over The Purple Beast. Morada looks to the Ring, but there’s no control to be found, only a craving for the Ring’s power. He screams and charges, but Anarchist quickly ducks out of the ring and hauls ass to the back. Morada stays for a moment to soak in the cheers before making his own exit.

SNAKE KING VS HELLFIRE

Hellfire’s entrance was accompanied by a darkened arena and flashing red & orange lights, as is customary for a lot of the Hellmouth luchadores. Snake King was looking to dispatch his first of Guerrero Muerto’s Hellmouth Warriors, and despite a good effort from Hellfire, he did just that in a relatively short amount of time.

WINNER: SNAKE KING

LA BESTIA MORADA VS DELIRIUM

La Bestia Morada was a house of fire from the beginning, still hot about missing his chance at Anarchist earlier in the evening. Delirium also craves the Ring of Chaos, believing it will restore order to his shattered mind, so what we really had here was a battle to be Anarchist’s last challenger before Avatar of Chaos. Morada picks up the victory in his quest for vengeance against Anarchist.

WINNER: LA BESTIA MORADA

After the match, it is announced that, by virtue of his victory here tonight, La Bestia Morada will enter the 20 man Chaos Battle Royale last! The Purple Savage celebrates in the ring to the cheers of the Immortals for a moment before leaving the arena.

The darkened arena, smoke pouring from the entrance, and the red and orange flashing lights signal the arrival of Demon King as the Immortals cheer. He enters the ring and announces that it is time to summon his army before beginning to speak some ancient incantation. As he speaks, the lights begin to flicker and we see flashes of light coming from beneath the ring; after a moment, bodies begin crawling out from under the ring in similar fashion as when Tarantula debuted, but this scene is much more stunning with the addition of lights and smoke.

“Babau… Moroi… Zombie Boy… arise, my undead army!” his voice booms from behind the mask as the three figures come out from beneath the ring, the two masked men crawling around it while the man with facepaint shambles around lifelessly.

“Captain Lucha, you have been put on notice! Your time as Campeonato Del Mundo EMLL and, indeed, your time on Earth, is coming to an end! The Demon King and his Infernal Council will drag you to Hell!”

RING OF DESTINY MATCH

DEATH’S HEAD VS DEMON KING

With his new Infernal Council milling around ringside, Demon King dominates the match against the Executioner from the Kingdom of Blood. Death’s Head seems to be working a more crazed style than normal, throwing out everything he can in an attempt to overcome the Demon King. The end of the match sees Babau and Moroi swarm the ring, distracting referee Benito Garcia long enough for Zombie Boy and Demon King to work over Death’s Head, Zombie Boy hitting a stunning senton that sets up Demon King’s Eternal Pain finisher to claim the Ring of Destiny for The Infernal Council!

WINNER, AND NEW RING OF DESTINY HOLDER: DEMON KING

GUERRERO MUERTO VS REY SOLDADO

Rey Soldado has been investigating the existence of Guerrero Muerto and his alternate reality as a possible way to fix the Time Stream, claiming Muerto is actually from an alternate reality Hellmouth and that finding a way to banish him back there could fix the fracture in time. Unfortunately for Soldado, he did not prove very successful in that endeavor in this match thanks to the appearance of his rival, Screamer, who aided Muerto in picking up the victory.

WINNER: GUERRERO MUERTO

Following the match, Muerto makes his exit but Screamer is not done with Soldad as he goes on the attack. Just as he is about to set up his Scream Theme finisher, a new luchador appears from out of nowhere!

The luchador in the blue and yellow mask is quick as a wiper, and dispatches Screamer in no time, sending the Time Demon to the back with his tail between his legs before helping Rey Soldado to his feet. Soldado is surprised to see the luchador, and it is soon revealed that he is another member of the Time Corps known as Sunburst.

“We’re on the right track, my friend,” Sunburst tells Soldado. “We must press on… we must fix this!”

DECIPHER VS CYCLOPS

Cyclops recently prophesied that DeCipher would try to unite the Rings of Power, and that it could spell the end of the Multiverse if allowed to happen; DeCipher had only ever wanted the Rings to find his way home, but Cyclops’ prophecy revealed that DeCipher was actually working with Charron to end the Multiverse, now believing himself stranded with no way home. Cyclops tried to overcome the onslaught of DeCipher’s offense, but he was no match in the end for a Code Breaker.

WINNER: DECIPHER

Satisfied with the win, DeCipher leaves Cyclops laying and heads to the back, Charron waiting for him by the entrance with a pleased look on his face.

CAMPEONATO DEL MUNDO EMLL MATCH

CAPTAIN LUCHA VS CHARRON

With Charron having already entered, Captain Lucha makes his way out to much fanfare from the Immortals. Charron is seemingly taking a bigger role in EMLL lately, with his story with DeCipher now positioning the two as trying to end the Multiverse. Captain Lucha, of course, is the protector of all things good and pure in EMLL, so he is naturally at odds with the villainous rudos. Charron puts up a good fight, but falls to Mexican Death.

WINNER, AND STILL CAMPEONATO DEL MUNDO EMLL: CAPTAIN LUCHA

Immediately following the match, the lights in the arena go out and the arrival of The Infernal Council is signaled by the special effects of smoke and lights. The crowd goes bananas as, amazingly, Babau, Moroi, and Zombie Boy crawl out from under the ring again and swarm Captain Lucha. Demon King makes his way out from the back, and it’s 4-on-1 against the champion.

The show ends with The Infernal Council standing over a fallen Captain Lucha, Demon King with the championship belt raised high over head.

Great first issue - very fun to read.

As someone's who isn't familiar with EMLL, the introduction plus the first issue gave me a really good feel of the characters.

In Issue #2, Charron himself looks to extract his own revenge against The Dark Universe fugitive.
