You gave the big bald dudes some personality!

Brickhouse being angry for seemingly no reason is great. I love the recurring segments with him and the other goons.

I hope to see you continue this Cornell family feud for awhile. It'd be a shame to see it be a one and some story.

Fantastic show! You've captured the entertainment feel very well!

I always think a first show with such a big roster is tricky as you got to get a lot of info and character in whilst still putting together a good show in it's own right and you did a great job! Already plenty of interesting stuff going on. It's definitely good to see a 21CW diary so I'll be following.

Yeah I really enjoyed the first show, and echo Ape's sentiments. A huge roster, and you started brilliantly. Landon is one of my go-to signings with this company, the kid is really talented! Glad to see him featured heavily.

Thanks. The first show was always going to be a bit of a precarious one because of the roster size. Trying to give people a purpose and reason is tough when there's like 55 guys.

Landon is a helluva talent! Had to snap him up!

Good stuff, missed the predictions but will try and follow from here on out. I've had a 21cw diary planned and sitting ready to go for months, I just could never pull the trigger being worried I'd fail to do it justice or keep it going, one day I'll get back to it I'm sure. So looking forward to this and seeing where you take things.

I'd be happy to see another 21CW effort on here. Especially from yourself given the work you put into your rerenders, buddy. Maybe I can encourage your effort.

This is great. Really smooth and easy to read and a lot of the characters are already clearly defined. I can't wait for the next few shows to maybe spotlight a few more workers on the roster and see what direction you're taking!

Can't do much but echo what everyone else has said; a standout first effort, establishes lots of storylines very well. Well done, sir!

Thank you both.

That's 2 bald dudes so far with a personality. Only another 15 to go. The recurring segments are trying to be a throwback to entertainment and like the attitude/ruthless aggression era where storylines ran through an evening.

Thank you all so much for the overwhelmingly positive feedback, team. It's my first crack at a proper 'Sports Entertainment' product on the boards so I'm glad it's been so well received. I can only hope to keep up the momentum but thank you all for the positivity.

Such a good show. Baffled at the grade though. How on earth do you get a 71!?

Was it the lack of hot storylines? I've found Main Event Highlight and Tight Focus works for SE, perhaps this works best for 21CW as they are top heavy thanks to the Cornells.. Are you using the Regular focus?

The low rating was due to the 'hot storylines' aspect but going forward from this show I had decided (after being advised) to turn off 'strict storylines'.

I figured trying to keep 5 storylines at 65 heat or above is gonna be a buzzkill for the creativity of the dynasty. I'd rather enjoy and write the stories than worry about the heat ratings. But it wouldn't hurt to play around with the focus though.

The size, layout and relative pop of the roster makes it a difficult one to uphold. So it makes sense.

Martin Bloydell

Ladies and gentlemen, it's Martin Bloydell here with your report of all things important going in the world of professional wrestling between the UK and the rest of the world. Now it should be prefaced that, naturally, the UK Scene and 21CW will be the primary content of this. If you want every little tidbit from around the world, go somewhere else. But I'll pick out any especially important details for you my loyal readers.

Red Rascal Dead at 20

- First of all our sincere condolences go out to the family of Mexican Luchador Red Rascal. The 20-year-old was beginning to make waves on the independent scene in Mexico but was unfortunately killed after being struck by a car in the early hours of the morning on the 3rd January. Our thoughts go out to his family.

Pop the Champagne!

Hollywood and wrestling superstar Champagne Lover has called time on his hiatus from the wrestling business as he signs a very lucrative 4 year deal with USPW for somewhere in the region of $430,000 per month. Makes you sick, doesn't it?!

21CW hiring spree?

A flurry of signings from the big juggernaut in the past few days.Landon Mallory has signed a deal (non-exclusive, I believe... so far) with the Nova Train and instantly appeared on Best of British Wrestling. My sources tell me he'll be teaming up with DBF.

Nigel Svennson and Konrad Makinen have also signed deals and will form a duo with possible names being 'The Swedehearts' or 'The Bitterswedes'. Personally, I say they should be a pair of confectionary connoisseurs and call themselves 'The Swedetooths' since Nova seems to like puns so much.

Orson Injury?

Coming out of the BOBW main event it seems that Wade Orson was having some issues with his shoulder backstage. Some imply that it's chronic shoulder pain and is an ongoing issue. He's unlikely to have to miss any action but we'll wait and see what happens going forward.

Livewire!

It wasn't officially announced on BOBW (Why?!) but a new 'B-show' will be airing this week for the company called 21CW livewire. With a roster as big as they have it makes sense but apparently the show will only air on 'OnDem', the online subscription service that doesn't really attract many people but it does have coverage across the world of course so... who knows?!

Worker Spotlight!

A new feature that we'll have going forward will be a spotlight feature where I'll grab an interview with talent from the UK scene with a Q&A session and highlight it up here on the site. It'll feature a 'who's who' and 'who's that?!' of talent and up first we had the owner and promoter of Scottish National Promotions, Mark Carnie and I can provide you with the whole interview!

1svGpDu.jpg

Phonecall with Carnie

Mr. Carnie, my name is Martin Bloydell and I...

- Och, piss off you little ****

That was the whole interview. He hung up. I must've caught him on a bad day because I hear he's lovely really.

Oh well. Til next time, folks.

The main event won't quite go ahead as advertised. Someone won't make it. Who? I think Edward bails like everyone has been suggesting.</p>

Pyro explodes and the arena lights up in a wonderful ensemble of colours as the cameras pan around the arena to the 4,600 fans in attendance. This is the Best of British Wrestling live from Wales! We cut to the announce team.

Smith: Ladies and Gentlemen as always we thank you for joining us here on the Best Of British Wrestling as the show rolls on towards Steel Cage Challenge.! By my side tonight in the broadcast booth are DJ Reason and Melanie Florence.

Reason: That’s right Steve Steel Cage Challenge is only 9 days away and the card still has to take shape for the most part but it’s certainly going to be a can’t miss event.

Florence: The contract is yet to be signed but it’s gonna be Cornell vs Cornell in the cage for the World Championship and finally, after being carried for 4 years, Tommy Cornell is going to realise that as good as he may be he’s just not on Eddies level. I can’t wait!

They continue to hype tonight’s show including our 3v3 main event as well as a triple threat match to determine the challengers to The Men Of Steel’s Tag Team Championship..

Daniel Black Francis - Landon Mallory - Sebastien Koller - Brickhouse Balder

(Backstage Skit)

DBF, Mallory & Koller all arrive together as they exit their vehicle with their bags on their shoulders. We follow them and hear them bantering away but as they get closer to the building they can hear the sound of clanging and chains echo through the car park. They pause and turn to their right where they see Balder lifting heavy chains as he works out... again. He catches them looking at him, throws the chains to the floor and once again begins to make chase at a lumbering pace...

Mallory: Doesn't he have a gym membership or something?

Francis: Who brings chains to work with them?

The trio continues to banter as they flee the monster.

Rating: 66

Smith: It needs to be said they do make a fair point.

Reason: Clearly for Brickhouse the world is his gym

Florence: I'll never understand the French

#1 Contender's match for 21CW Tag Team Titles

'Perfection' Kelly Martin [vs] 'The Barcelona Bull' Buff Martinez [vs] 'Little J' Joe Simpson

A triple threat match with the winning individual securing he and his tag partner a shot at Mass Hulk & Mark Adonis for the tag team titles. High stakes and with of their partners ringside with them it was sure to be chaotic and competitive. Sixteen minutes of action flew by to kick off the evening and Buff Martinez planted Simpson with the EL K.O but before he could go for the pin Kelly Martin spun him round and floored him with the Perfect Driver to secure the 3-count and the title shot.

Winner: Kelly Martin

Jeff Nova - Kelly Martin - Lance Martin - Mark Adonis - Mass Hulk

(Post-match shenanigans)

As the losing individuals leave the ring and are comforted and berated by their respective partners, Kelly & Lance congratulate and high-five each other at the victory when 'The Boss' Jeff Nova steps out onto the ramp to address the victors.

Nova: Congratulations, lads. I'm just here to officially announce to you and to the audience that in 9 days at Steel Cage Challenge you will fight for the Tag Team Titles vs The Men Of Steel.

Just as Nova's sentence trails off Mass Hulk & Mark Adonis come sprinting past the boss at an impressive enough pace to catch The Martins off guard and begin attacking them. Nova follows them down and pulls them off telling them to back off. The champs walk away sneering.

Rating: 69

Smith: The champions send a message to the Martins

Reason: That was an excellent match we also witnessed. Full credit to Kelly Martin and his wily nature.

Florence: The Bull was robbed of his victory but, more to the point, I can't believe we just watched the boss manhandle The Men Of Steel out of the ring. What was he doing at this desk all these years?

The Gravehearts [vs] Boulder & Flynn

Two teams with an average age of 21 between the four individuals did battle here. The ending came when Grave Digger & Blackheart grew frustrated at their inability to put the plucky young duo away swiftly and ended the match via DQ with a blatant low-blow to Flynn

Winner: Boulder & Flynn via DQ

Buff Martinez - J-B Cash

(Backstage Segment)

Martinez sits on a locker room chair looking frustrated at the outcome of events 15-minutes ago. J-B Cash approaches and looks more pissed than Buff. He berates his partner at the loss and how his foolishness cost them a title shot...

Martinez: Hold up, plata. In 11 years we've won the titles only once. This isn't just on me.

Cash: I didn't lose that match, bruv. You had it won and you blew it. That's only on you.

Martinez: It was a surprise, 'bruv'. It happens, y'know?

Cash: It shouldn't happen to us, bruv. One reign in 11 years? That's embarrassing. I'm better than that!

Martinez: Just 'calm the ham' before you say something you regret. We'll get another shot.

Cash: Pfft, yeah, we'll see...

Phil Harmonic - Phillip Cooper - Ruin - Welsh Dragon

(In-ring segment)

Phil Harmonic and Phillip Cooper enter the arena to a resounding chorus of boos. They enter the ring, Harmonic with a mic in his hand, and flash their smug grins to the audience as Cooper juggles with 2 stiff-looking bands in his hands.

Harmonic: 'What's occurin'?' Wales, right? Where the men are men and the sheep are nervous. (boos intensify) Now let's not be like that I have come here with honest intentions and entertainment to brighten up your time away from the farms. How about another joke to lighten the mood, huh? What do you call a Welsh man with a stick up his arse...?

A Taffee Apple!

The two men chuckle to themselves as they embrace the boos and jeers being thrust upon them by those in attendance

Cooper: I can't speak for Phil here but I love the Welsh. I used to have a Welsh girlfriend who had 36 DD's... it was a stupidly long name and hard to pronounce.

(They laugh and giggle excitedly to each other again)

Harmonic: It's time people for Coop and I to hire a bodyguard. A muscleman. A lackey if you will and I will pay handsomely for the right candidate and if anyone needs a break it's the Welsh, right? We have two candidates waiting in the back who will undertake several challenges to earn the opportunity. So, come on down to see if you can... Scoop the Coop!

A physically impressive specimen by the name of Ruin walks to the ring alongside Welsh Dragon where the two are greeted with a 'What's new pussycat? by Cooper. The two undertake several challenges including a press-up contest and who can the most star jumps in a minute before they 'Scoop The Coop'. Harmonic ties the aforementioned bands around Coopers ankles and wrists as the two contestants have to deadlift Cooper. Ruin does it with relative ease whereas Dragon, although he manages, has more of a struggle. The final test is that Harmonic says they must fight 1 on 1 right now and he'll be the referee.

GVhD5aE.jpgJvqLBSg.jpgrgCPiuV.jpg

Ruin [vs] Welsh Dragon

The two men already have a sweat on after undertaking their challenges and now must fight head to head. The two go back and forth for a few minutes before Harmonic intervenes by planting a firm boot to the plums of Dragon who crumbles to the floor. Harmonic grabs his mic again: "If you ever believed I would hire a boy in a mask who calls himself a dragon to protect us then you're stupider than I sincerely thought you would be. Pin him!". Ruin plants Dragon with a Fold Up Powerbomb and gets the 3-count.

Winner: Ruin

Rating: 33

Harmonic: We'll discuss the details backstage, big fella. Wales, I want you to know that I mean this with 100% sincerity. You're a terrible country.

Cooper: Tom Jones? I mean come on...

Smith: That's one way of getting notoriety about yourself. The fans here are incensed.

Reason: Cooper & Harmonic could be a fierce duo, especially now with Ruin by their sides. But what's the issue with the Welsh?

Florence: I thought they raised some fair points.

Tommy Cornell - Ricky Storm - Sifu

(Backstage Segment)

We see Cornell roaming the halls backstage as though he's looking for somebody. He stops in his tracks as he catches sight of people of interest as Storm and Sifu enter the frame.

Cornell: Lads. I've got a prop...

Storm: We'd be honoured, sir. Right?

Sifu: *Nods*

Cornell: Well hell! I could've asked you to clean the shit off my shoes.

Storm: We'd still be honoured

Sifu: *Nods*

Cornell: (Looking confused) You boys are odd. I like ya's! I appreciate this.

The three walk off together and turn down the hall

Rating: 80

Reason: That's a heck of a duo that 'Rough Justice' is gonna have by his side tonight.

Florence: What? A pushover and a mute? Yeah, big help they'll be!

Smith: I think you're selling them short, Mel. They're 3-time tag team champions.

Florence: It won't matter when they step into the ring with 'The Business'

Another example of the young talent littering the company here was on display as the flamboyant and fabulous Apollo Prince put away his opponent with The Apollogy.

Winner: Apollo Prince

'Crusher' Gorilla Lee [vs] 'The Neanderthal' Andrew Lee

A battle of the Lee's was on offering here but it was 'The Neanderthal' who ended up doing the damage and getting the victory in convincing and swift fashion.

Winner: 'The Neanderthal' Andrew Lee

Beau Bolder - Darin Flynn - Adam Matravers - Phoebe Plumridge

(Backstage Segment)

Boulder & Flynn knock upon a locker room door and enter where we see Matravers and Plumridge sitting together on a couch facing the TV which they turn off when the young duo enter. The youngsters look a bit sheepish and nervous but seem to be asking Adam & Phoebe for help.

Flynn: We just understand that you've got an issue with Bedlam and you want a title shot which you deserve, of course, and we had an issue tonight with that group and we just wanted some help or advice or something?

Matravers: Don't be nervous, kids. She doesn't bite. But, yeah, I'm honoured that you've elected to come and talk to me. I've actually got an idea that'll work in both our favours hopefully.

Boulder: Thank you, sir.

Plumridge: Don't call him, sir. We're not that posh or important. Stay and let's talk.

Edward Cornell - BW Eddie - Viktor Beskov - Yuri Iliakov

(Backstage Skit)

'The House of Business' are lounging in another locker room discussing the plans for this evening and the main event.

BW: Well I heard it in the halls that his partners for tonight are Storm and Sifu.

Edward: Really? Where'd you hear that?

As EC says this there is a loud crash outside the locker room that echoes through the halls. Beskov opens the door...

50HbEvw.jpg3yixVol.jpgZyCseNV.jpgsMj8tGg.jpg

DBF, Mallory & Koller have stumbled over a few tables and chairs in the halls as we can see Balder in the background still in slow pursuit.

Koller: Leave uz alone you big french bazturd. I av' a match.

Mallory: This boy is relentless, man.

DBF: Yo, did you hear that TC is teaming with Storm & Sifu tonight?

Mallory: Wow, that's awesome.

Koller: Keep moving, boyz

Beskov closes the door as the rest of 'The House of Business' look on bewildered.

BW: It's like a Scooby-Doo cartoon out there. They ran past 10 minutes ago and said the same thing with that big lad chasing them.

Edward: So he's got them then? Pfft, wow. Actually, y'know what. I'm not feeling all that great tonight. *He takes deep breaths and aims to lie down* I'm gonna need you to take my place, Eddie. Besides, we've got the same name. It'll be fine.

Beskov: Boss, Tommy vill be pissed if yu back out

Edward: Bollocks to what he'll feel. I feel unwell. I'm not wrestling. You are.

Rating: 75

Smith: Signs of cowardice from our champion there was it?

Florence: Of course not. He's the champion and if he wants a night off because he's unwell then let him have it.

Reason: I was Mr No Days Off when I was champion.

Florence: Well that'll happen when your champ for less than 4 months.

War Machine w/Cliff King [vs] 'Rock 'N' Roller' Sebastian Koller

A match between two exciting talents in 21CW with the powerhouse up against the energetic enigma who has been distracted the past few weeks which he couldn't afford to be here. His associates DBF & Mallory sat at the commentary desk for this one seeming nervous throughout and rightfully so.

The match was an exciting 11-minute affair that reached it's conclusion when Machine pulled the ref into the way when Koller went for a splash into the corner that floored the official. Leigh Burton came out and caught DBF & Mallory off-guard and peppered them with brutal shots that had them both reeling. With the duo distracted Brickhouse Balder entered the fray and took out Koller with a clothesline before sitting on him in the corner with his Bringing Down The House finisher. Balder stood up, gave a curt nod to War Machine who gave him a fist bump and then left to meet Burton. Machine ended things with his Chokebomb as the ref came to.

Winner: War Machine

Rating: 64

Reason: Could there be alliances forming here between Burton, Balder & War Machine?

Florence: Very astute observation there, DJ.

Reason: Well you don't think I'm stupid do ya?

Florence: Only when you open your mouth.

Tommy Cornell & Crouching Strom, Hidden Sifu [vs] The House of Business

Our main event of the night is a 3 v 3 affair but without the involvement of world champion Edward Cornell who elected BW Eddie in his place. The match was a hot main event that the crowd were lapping up as there was a myriad of impressive displays of athleticism, teamwork and the occasional slug match. Ultimately, with their leader absent from the match and ringside, The House of Business struggled to compete with a fired-up Tommy and his teammates. Cornell put BW Eddie away with the Rough Ride to secure the win.

Winners: Tommy Cornell and Crouching Storm, Hidden Sifu

(Post-Match Promo)

Tommy, Storm and Sifu celebrate their victory together in the ring to the approval of the fans. The Red Dragons leap back into the ring and continue to brawl with Storm and Sifu before Edward shows his face and calls his stablemates away from any further fighting. Tommy motions for a microphone

Tommy: There he is people. Our bold and fearless world champion. Couldn't stand the idea that he might get his arse kicked before the Pay Per View so he feigns illness and instead sends his lackeys out for an arse-kicking. Some bloody champion you are, Eddie boy! But don't you worry, son! *He motions to the big screen where the clock countdown continues to tick* There's still only approximately 216-ish hours til you're locked in that Steel Cage with me. Of course, we need to sign the contract next week but if you don't sign it, you forfeit that belt. So you go home tonight and nurse that wee headache you've got, kid. Go and build up all your strength and search around anywhere and everywhere for something resembling a spine. Your time is coming to an end. There's only one Cornell worth knowing about in this industry and that's Tommy ****ing Cornell!

He drops the mic and drinks in the cheers and adulation of the crowd as Eddie looks concerned about the threat facing him in 9 days time.

Rating: 71

Smith: 'Rough Justice' is absolutely fired-up and we're running out of time for tonight folks.

Florence: Tommy is all smoke with no fire! His ego is getting the better of him.

Reason: It's gonna be a hell of a show next week!

Smith: Thanks for joining us, everybody. We'll see you next week!

So I had Andrew Lee and Gorilla Lee team up in a recent 2 year 21CW save. 'The Lee Cousins'. Hyped them for weeks/months, with Andrew trying to convince Gorilla to team up... In the end, they debuted in a big way, with a big win, over an established team (might have been the Martin Twins)... They had awful chemistry. I was gutted! :D Cool to see them as opponents here.

In that save, Koller became a MEGA star, so I was surprised to see War Machine beat him here. But them WM does have that Brickhouse rub! I want to echo everyone else and say I love his segments :D

Please never stop the Brickhouse Balder segments

I'll try and maintain them for as long as I have ideas for them. Glad they're being enjoyed.

Yeah I like the feeling that the locker room is alive with action, definitely suits 21CW. I think you got a good balance between the match length and angles too.

Thank you. Always appreciate the feedback. Glad it's connecting.

Koller is too good to be taking too many L's but it was a tainted finish so he'll be alright. Koller is a stud! Happy to hear you're enjoying Balder's segments. One of the big bald guys I've tried to give personality to. Ha!

Comments: <em>This is the trickiest one. I could see the handicap match happening, maybe as either Boulder or Flynn gets pinned, but the straight title match seems like the safer option.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>'Rough Justice' Tommy Cornell</strong> vs ???</p><p>

Comments: <em>Same as earlier - there's no way Tommy's losing this.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Who will Tommy choose as Edward's opponent? <strong>Storm</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Who will Edward choose as Tommy's opponent? <strong>BW Eddie</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Safe options as they're already aligned, but I wouldn't be surprised if Edward calls upon someone like Brickhouse Balder to deal some serious damage. There's likely some shenanigans after the bell too.</em></p>

'The Business' Edward Cornell vs ???

Comments:

'The Bad Seed' Kelvin Badberry vs Landon Mallory

Comments: Just wondering if you boost Landon at the expense of one of the bald lads

The Men of Steel vs The Underdogs

Comments: This is all about upside, the Underdogs don't have it,

'The MVP' Kevin Jones vs Evan Alpass

Comments: There's a chance that Jones has promised but I figure you save that for a PPV.

HellBound w/Faust vs Matravers and Boulder & Flynn w/Plumridge

Comments: It makes sense for Matravers to pin Blackheart because otherwise Boulder and Flynn have no chance.

'Rough Justice' Tommy Cornell vs ???

Comments: It's bit logical to bet against either Cornell.

Who will Tommy choose as Edward's opponent? This is tough, I think it may be Sebastian Koller and could make for a decent main event if so.

Who will Edward choose as Tommy's opponent? I think Brickhouse is an option and I think it's someone with high menace. I'm going for Beast Bantom.
