MACW Monday Nitro Williams Arena. Greenville, North Carolina Monday Week 3 May 1983 Attendance: 5,000 Overall Rating: B+ Rating: 77,256
Eddie Gilbert vs. Sgt. Slaughter Both men came out alone for this matchup and as one might expect Slaughter dominated the early-goings, leaving Hot Stuff seemingly overmatches with his opponent. Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan used this time to introduce the show and talk about the big 8 man tag team match later on. Missy Hyatt came out from the back and started slamming her hands down on the mat to try and get Gilbert back into the match. Hot Stuff started fighting back and tossed Slaughter to the outside. Missy moved over to Slaughter and started distracting him. She kept him distracted long enough that referee Tommy Young had no choice but to count Slaughter out! Eddie Gilbert b. Sgt. Slaughter =C
Ameeeeeeeeeerican Dreeeeeeeam! Clips of past matches with Dusty Rhodes in the NWA were shown within a music video format. At the end of it, words stated that Dusty Rhodes would be making a return to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. =A Interesting Ric Flair and J.J. Dillon were shown watching the monitor and nodding to each other. Dillon said that he'll make a few calls and maybe they will have the newest Horsemen member when Dusty Rhodes comes back. =C+
Sting vs. Magnum T.A. Both men are fan favorites and came into this match with seemingly a lot of respect for one another. The two men locked up and the experience of T.A. began to show as he took on an early advantage. He began wearing Sting down early, working over his back. The fans were split on who to cheer for in this match but it seems the fans usually go for the guy who's down so they began cheering for Sting, who fought back against the veteran. Sting got an advantage and didn't look back, sending T.A. into the corner and nailing the Stinger Splash! He made a quick cover and picked up the upset victory! Sting b. Magnum T.A. =C-
After the match was over, Sting celebrated shouting out an 'Owwww!' to the crowd as Magnum slowly got to his feet. He walked over to Sting and offered a handshake, that Sting accepted! Magnum lifted Sting's arm in victory and turned, exiting the ring. =C- Wanna Go Out? Backstage, Eddie Gilbert was shown talking to Missy Hyatt. He thanked her for her support in that match earlier and asked her out on a date. Missy accepted! =C-
Roddy Piper vs. Jake Roberts A highly anticipated matchup between two veterans of in-ring psychology. Jake, of course, had his bag with the snake in it but Piper didn't seem to be as frightened as most people are. The two men circled each other and locked up with Piper grabbing a side headlock quickly. Jake brought the Rowdy One back to the ropes and then shot him off to the other side. Jake dropped down and Piper jumped over. Piper came back off the ropes and Jake leapt for a leap frog but Piper stopped! When Jake came back down, Piper poked him in the eye to cheers from the crowd. The Hot Rod stepped back and then shot forward, clotheslining The Snake to the mat. Piper dropped an elbow and got a one count on a pinfall attempt. Piper got up quickly and brought Jake to the turnbuckles, laying into the Snake with a right hand before shooting him across to the other side with a hard irish whip! Piper quickly followed him in but was met with an elbow to the mush by Roberts! Jake the Snake grabbed Piper and raked his eyes across the top rope from one side to the other, leaving Piper to stagger a little. Jake grabbed Piper shortly after and pulled him into a short-arm clothesline. The Snake maintained a good advantage over the Hot Rod with a few more wrestling holds, wrestling pretty much a clean match. He got a couple of two counts on the Rowdy Scot but couldn't put him away. Later in the match, the 4 Horsemen all came out toward ringside, surrounding the ring on all 4 sides as they just seemed content to watch the match. Larry Zbyszko went poking at the bag in Jake's corner, distracting him enough for Piper to roll him up for a two count only. Piper seized the advantage though and began firing back on Jake. But, he too, was distracted by the presence of the 4 Horsemen. Piper whipped Jake into the ropes and locked on a Sleeperhold in the middle of the ring! Jake's arms flailed up and down as he tried to fight out of it but Piper's Sleeperholds are legendary! The 4 Horsemen began climbing on the apron and Piper released the hold for the moment as the Horsemen stepped into the ring. Jake stood back to back with Piper as he saw what was going on. Arn Anderson tossed referee Nick Patrick out of the ring, effectively ending the match as a draw. Roddy Piper d. Jake Roberts =B
The 4 Horsemen were slowly closing in on Piper and Roberts and finally blows came as Piper and Roberts stepped forward and began knocking down the Horsemen with rights and lefts! Piper was the first on his side to go down as Zbyszko grabbed his legs and Flair gave him a stiff chop to the chest! Then it was a matter of the numbers on Jake the Snake. Piper and Roberts were left laying on the mat and Flair had a big smile on his face as he led his Horsemen to the back again. =A
United States Tag Team Titles On The Line The Midnight Express(c) vs. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan spent a lot of this match talking about what just transpired between the Horsemen and Piper and Roberts. The Horsemen seem to have that 'you're with us or against us' mentality. Oh and by the way a slightly above average match was going on inside the ring as both teams worked together in this match. Beautiful Bobby Eaton got the pinfall on Bugsy after his famed Alabama Jam. The Midnight Express b. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw =C+
Just A Little Earlier A video replayed the events of the match between Jake The Snake Roberts and Rowdy Roddy Piper. It focused in on the interference by the Horsemen with Bob Caudle calling them a bunch of thugs. =B+
NWA World Tag Team Titles On The Line The Koloffs(c) vs. The Youngbloods Before the match started, Bobby Heenan wanted to know just why these native american hamandeggers got a shot at the Koloffs and the titles. Not that it matters because the Koloffs are going to destroy them anyway. Of course The Brain's prediction did ring true for this match as the Koloffs made a quick tear through the Youngbloods, ending with the match with an Ivan Koloff bearhug of Jay Youngblood for the submission win. The Koloffs b. The Youngbloods =B-
The Koloffs held up their NWA World Tag Team Title belts when the Road Warriors came running in from the back! The brawl was on once again but this time the Road Warriors got an advantage! They pummeled the Koloffs to the ground and mounted them, punching away at the veteran Russians! Paul Ellering came down to ringside carrying two buckets and slid them inside the ring. Road Warrior Animal grabbed one while Road Warrior Hawk got the other. Animal poured a nice black substance on top of Ivan and then Nikita. Hawk poured feathers on top of the tar! The Koloffs have been branded chickens by being tarred and feathered by the Road Warriors! =C+ Horsemen Ride Forever The cameras went backstage, catching the Horsemen celebrating their attack earlier on Piper and Roberts. Ric Flair said they sent a message to everyone in the Mid-Atlantic region. Either you're with us or you're against us. And he would hate to be against us. Tonight, they show off an even better message as they team up together, all 4 of them, to take on some of those guys who think they can steal the NWA gold from the Horsemen. Tonight, 8 men are gonna walk that aisle and only 4 men are gonna walk away. Those 4 men are the Horsemen. Whooo. =A
Main Event! Huge 8 Man Tag Team Match! The Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Greg Valentine and Larry Zbyszko) vs. Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat and Hulk Hogan Both teams came out together. The Horsemen were, of course, flanked by James J. Dillon. This match went as one might expect it to go with the fan favorites starting off with the advantage but then Harley Race was taken advantage of and the Horsemen used quick tags and cheating with distracting the referee and choking out Harley Race. The fans were solidly behind Race within this bout, though, and he began fighting back against the Enforcer. Both men came off the ropes and hit a double clothesline, leaving both of them lying on the mat as referee Randy Anderson began the ten count. Both sides began crawling toward their corners. Anderson tagged in Flair and Race barely made it to the corner and tagged in Steamboat! Flair begged off when he saw Steamboat come into the ring but he was pegged with a right hand by the Dragon! Steamboat came in with momentum, punching out the Horsemen in the corner and turning back to Flair. He dropped Flair with an inverted atomic drop and then a body slam for a two count. Steamboat made a signal and then moved toward the turnbuckles and began climbing up! The Horsemen quickly moved into the ring but they were cut off by their opponents! It was a pier six brawl inside the ring. But Steamboat and Flair were still the legal men! Steamboat came off the top turnbuckle with his patented Flying Body Press on Flair but Flair rolled through! Flair ended up on top and quickly grabbed a handful of tights as referee Randy Anderson made the 3 count, not seeing the tights being grabbed! The Horsemen b. Dory Funk Jr., Ricky Steamboat, Harley Race and Hulk Hogan. =A+
After the match, the brawl continued inside the ring between the 8 men! Officials came flooding from the back to try and break things up but they wouldn't stop! It was pandamonium in Greenville as the show came to a close. =A

Larry Zbyszko vs. Ricky Steamboat: You know I like this booking! This match is money in the bank. I'm going with a Steamboat victory via DQ. Arn Anderson vs. Dory Funk Jr.: Ok, storyline would indicate that Arn get's the vic here as I don't see Funk sticking around. The thing is, my heart tells me that Arn is outclassed. I'm going with Dory for that reason alone. Non-Title Ric Flair vs. Sgt. Slaughter: Slaughter loses to Gilbert???... No way he beats Flair this time! The Midnight Rockers vs. The Young Stallions

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Showplace Arena. Memphis, Tennessee Saturday Week 3 May 1983 Attendance: 2,000 Overall Rating: B+ Rating: 93,634
The Midnight Rockers vs. The Young Stallions With it being known now that the Midnight Rockers will get a shot at recapturing the United States Tag Team Titles against the Midnight Express at Clash of the Champions, the Rockers came out for this match against the Young Stallions. With this newfound momentum, they dominated the Stallions without pause or expending too much effort. Shawn Michaels picked up the pin after a double superkick on Roma. The Midnight Rockers b. The Young Stallions =D
As one might expect, the Midnight Express came running out and did the attack on the Rockers. For some reason, the Midnight Rockers were not expecting them and Jim Cornette led his Express team on a beatdown of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. =C+ A Tuneup Ric Flair gave an interview within the back where he spoke about his upcoming match with Sgt. Slaughter tonight. Slaughter is simply outclassed by the Nature Boy according to Ric Flair. And tonight when Slaughter walks that aisle he's going to find out what Ricky Steamboat will find out at Clash of the Champions: to be the man, you have to beat the man and Whooo Ric Flair is the man. =B-
Non-Title Ric Flair vs. Sgt. Slaughter A rare non-title matchup for the Nature Boy. If Slaughter can pick up the upset win here it would definitely catapult him in the standings. Flair came out in his blue sequined robe and purple trunks accompanied by J.J. Dillon. Slaughter came out in his usual camo gear waving the american flag. Once referee Nick Patrick sounded for the bell, the match was on with Flair and Slaughter circling each other. They moved together and locked into a collar and elbow tieup. Flair backed Slaughter into the corner. Nick Patrick asked for a clean break and was almost granted one but Flair chopped Slaughter in the chest. Slaughter didn't sell it though! The Sarge just looked at Flair for a moment and Flair raised his hands quickly, begging off! Slaughter didn't wait on Flair though and began punching him, felling the NWA World Champ with a right hand! Flair rolled out of the ring and regrouped with Dillon on the outside. He rolled back inside slowly and Slaughter offered his hand up for a test of strength! Flair's eyes went wide and he slowly began raising his hand to meet Slaughter's. Just as they were about to meet, Flair kicked Slaughter in the gut and then raised him up with a chop and a 'Whoooo.' Flair continued to maintain this advantage for several minutes, turning his focus to the knee as Ric Flair often does, to set up the Figure 4 Leglock. At one point, he brought Slaughter to the corner and banged Slaughter's knee against the ringpost! He slid back inside and gave a few stomps to the Sarge's prone body and then bounced off the ropes, connecting with a kneedrop. Flair pulled Slaughter away from the ropes and grabbed his legs, setting him up for the Figure 4 but Slaughter reversed it into a small package! He got a two count before Flair reversed it. Flair grabbed Slaughter's clothes to hold on to him and actually picked up a win in a surprising fashion! Ric Flair b. Sgt. Slaughter =B-
The First Date Footage was shown, next, of a rather expensive restaurant. Inside, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt were having their first date, eating rather expensive foods like caviar and drinking champagne. Missy slipped away to powder her nose and the waiter came by with the bill. Eddie's eyes went wide when he saw how much it was and gulped rather audibly. A few minutes later, Missy came back and asked Eddie if something was wrong. Eddie denied it of course and then gave a worried look to the camera before it cut away. =C- Clash Of The Champions Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan talked about how next week is the Clash of the Champions! There are several big matches already lined up for the card. The first and foremost match is, of course, the NWA World Heavyweight Title rematch as "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair defends his belt against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. =A Bobby Heenan mentioned that after what happened on MACW Monday Nitro, the Koloffs have elected to put their NWA World Tag Team Titles on the line to get a match with the Road Warriors at the Clash! =C+ Bob Caudle talked about the Horsemen's arrival in MACW and how at Clash of the Champions, Harley Race will be defending his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title against a member of that Horsemen group: Arn Anderson =B+ Bobby Heenan brought up the fact that Roddy Piper has been receiving shot after shot at the United States Heavyweight Title and he's still come up as a hamandegger. Well, humanoids, at the Clash of the Champions, the man in the skirt will receive one final shot at the title. It will be a win or go home match as Greg Valentine defends his United States Heavyweight Title against Roddy Piper. If Piper loses, he will leave Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling =A
Arn Anderson vs. Dory Funk Jr. A technical classic mixed in with some good brawling as these two tough men got into the ring together. The Enforcer was, of course, accompanied by James J. Dillon. Anderson did his best to slow down the match and the experience advantage of Dory Funk Jr. with his technical wrestling and wear-down holds. Funk fought back against the Horsemen member and went after the leg and knee of the Enforcer. In the end, it was Dory Funk picking up the win when he got Anderson to submit to the spinning toehold! Dory Funk Jr. b. Arn Anderson =A
Ready To Go! Ricky Steamboat was shown in the back stretching his arms and legs as he prepared for his match tonight with Larry Zbyszko. Steamboat talked about Zbyszko being a living legend but tonight the legend is going to have something to learn from the future of this business. The Dragon is here to stay and this is just a bump on the road to the Clash when Steamboat becomes the new NWA World Heavyweight Champ. =A
Main Event! Larry Zbyszko vs. Ricky Steamboat Larry Zbyszko was accompanied to the ring by J.J. Dillon while Steamboat was not seconded down to the ring. The question is would J.J. make the difference for the Living Legend? On this night, the Dragon was on fire(pun intended) inside the ring, beating Zbyszko at every turn with no matter what he would throw at him. Zbyszko did manage brief times of advantage but Steamboat showed what he can do when he is focused within this match. He picked up the victory with the Flying Body Press off the top turnbuckle. Can he do the same to Ric Flair at Clash of the Champions? Ricky Steamboat b. Larry Zbyszko =A+
Don't Mess With A Snake Before the show went off the air, a video played, showing Jake sitting on a bench with his snake within his fingers. Jake looked up at the camera and just paused for a moment, staring. Then he talked about how the Horsemen made the biggest mistake of their careers when they attacked Jake Roberts. Everyone knows that when you mess with a snake you're bound to get bitten. When the Horsemen made their attack, they awoke a rattlesnake. They just better be prepared to face the consequences of their actions. =B

What a great show! The build for Flair/Steamboat is superb! I also like what's going on with Jake in this diary. Putting him with Piper? Having him play face? Are these just possibilities? hmmmm?... I LOVE IT! Some early predictions for The Clash: Flair goes over Steamboat. Piper goes over Valentine. Also, kudos on your version of the Horseman. Very well conceived!

MACW Monday Nitro Siebert Hall. Birmingham, Alabama Monday Week 4 May 1983 Attendance: 2,000 Overall Rating: A Rating: 83,397 A Huge Surprise? The fans didn't have to wait long as Monday Nitro opened with the music of the Nature Boy Ric Flair and the NWA World Heavyweight Champion stepped out to boos from the crowd. He walked down the aisle with the belt around his waist and slipped inside the ring, taking a microphone. He spent a few minutes insulting the audience before getting to the real purpose of his being here. That is to introduce to everyone the NEWEST member of the Horsemen. To everyone's shock and surprise, he introduced...the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion Ray Stevens! The Crippler stepped out from the back to boos from the crowd. He stepped inside the ring, comparing gold belts with Flair for a moment before embracing him! The two raised each other's hands to boos from the crowd. What a bombshell! It looks like the Horsemen just added another gold belt to their collection! =A
The Armstrong Brothers vs. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw The crowd was still buzzing about the arrival of Ray "The Crippler" Stevens to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, especially carrying another promotion's World Heavyweight Title belt. Not a whole lot of attention was paid to this match and rightfully so as it wasn't the best match in the world. No mention was made of what happened to Tracy Smothers, Steve Armstrong's former partner. Brad Armstrong eventually picked up the win over Rufus after a side Russian Leg Sweep. The Armstrong Brothers b. Rufus R. Jones and Bugsy McGraw =C-
The Battle of the Midnights Continues Jim Cornette was shown in a pre-recorded interview segment with his Midnight Express. They basically talked about their upcoming matchup at the Clash of the Champions with the Midnight Rockers. Your standard interview hyping the match. =C Dedicated To Missy Eddie Gilbert came out to the ring, preparing for his upcoming next bout against Hulk Hogan. He grabbed a microphone and said that he dedicates his win tonight to his new manager: Missy Hyatt! =B+ A Typical Entrance "When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside You gotta take a stand and it won't help to hide. When you hurt my friends, well you hurt my pride I've gotta be a man, I can't let it slide!" The crowd rose in cheers as Hulk Hogan stepped out from the back, jogging down toward the ring. He took in the cheers of the fans, sliding in and giving a few poses before ripping off his red and yellow t-shirt to a huge crowd pop. =A+
Eddie Gilbert vs. Hulk Hogan Hogan posed with his back turned to Gilbert and Gilbert ran in with a double sledge to his back! Eddie started off with this advantage, getting several quick near-falls on Hogan as he tried to finish the match off quickly but it was to no avail. Later in the match, Gilbert went for his Hot-Shot finisher but Hogan pushed his weight backward and fell back onto his feet, punching Gilbert! Hogan had the crowd behind him as he maintained the advantage, slamming Gilbert to the mat and then lifting Hot Stuff back up. He whipped him across the ring and nailed that Big Boot! Everyone knows what comes next! Hogan poses a moment before bouncing off the ropes and dropping that big Legdrop on Gilbert! He makes the cover and Hogan picks up the win! Hulk Hogan b. Eddie Gilbert =A
Hulk popped up after the pinfall and began posing to cheers from the crowd, cupping his ear to each side. Eddie Gilbert slowly made his way to his feet and looked rather angry. He waited until Hogan had his back turned and struck at the knee of Hogan with a kick! He mounted the fallen Hogan and punched away at his forehead! Eddie Gilbert has gone insane! Bobby Heenan noted that Gilbert was probably upset because he had dedicated this match to Missy. Several officials came out and broke things up. =B Tarred and Feathered? A pre-recorded interview began seemingly out in the middle of an old military base. This is where the NWA World Tag Team Champions the Koloffs were seen walking and training. Ivan looked to the camera and talked about how last week they were embarassed by the Road Warriors. But it won't happen again. At Clash of Champions, the Road Warriors will know extreme pain from Mother Russia. Nikita simply gave a gutteral growl and went back to his training. =B- American Dream Back within the arena, Tony Schiavone was in the back with the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. First, Tony welcomed Rhodes back to the Mid-Atlantic region. Dusty said that it is good to be back here and that tonight here in Birmingham he's going to get funky like a monkey if you wiiillll. Tony asked Dusty if he's been in any contact with Ric Flair. Dusty said that he hasn't been in any contact with Flair but that he's not sure he trusts that snake in the grass. =B-
Dusty Rhodes vs. George South The crowd cheered for Dusty Rhodes and his return as he came out to face old-time veteran George South. Of course Dusty dominated the match over South. Not too much to say about this one except that Dusty picked up the win with the Bionic Elbow. Dusty Rhodes b. George South =B
Clapping could be heard coming from the back as Ric Flair stepped out with a wireless microphone in hand. He slid inside the ring without talking and looked the American Dream up and down. 'Well, if it isn't the man I beat for my first NWA World Heavyweight Title. Whooo.' Flair gave a quick rundown of his accomplishments since then, including the formation of his Horsemen and luring the WWF World Heavyweight Champion to the Mid-Atlantic region. Tonight, he is going to give Dusty a choice. Dusty can join up with the Horsemen and run this region with Flair...OR he can become a target of the Horsemen. Flair didn't let Dusty talk at all and turned and walked out. =A+ Leaving Angrily The cameras headed backstage where Eddie Gilbert was shown pushing his clothing into a duffel bag. He zipped it up and turned, moving angrily out of the locker room and heading to the parking lot to leave. =C
Larry Zbyszko vs. Dory Funk Jr. Two in-ring veterans meeting up within this match as a member of the Horsemen takes on the legendary Dory Funk Jr. This was a technical wrestling classic as both men used several wear-down holds with Dory going after Larry's leg while Zbyszko focused on Funk's neck and upper body. The match continued to move back and forth when Jake Roberts came out! The Snake headed right for the ring and slid inside, attacking Zbyszko! Zbyszko rolled quickly out of the ring and headed for the back with the Snake on his heels. The referee had no choice but to disqualify Funk for the interference by Jake. Larry Zbyszko b. Dory Funk Jr. =A
New Match For The Clash Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan stated that as a result of what has happened in recent weeks it will be the Living Legend Larry Zbyszko taking on Jake The Snake Roberts at this Thursday's Clash of the Champions! =B+ Preparing For Tonight and the Clash Harley Race was shown sitting alone within the back. He talked about how Ricky Steamboat doesn't completely trust him but tonight he will have to since they are teaming up to take on the Horsemen. Race patted his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title, saying that he will never let that belt go. Arn Anderson will have to kill him first. =A
Non-Title Greg Valentine vs. Jake Roberts Jake came out rather calmly after chasing Zbyszko to the back earlier. But this time he brought his pet snake with him inside the usual bag. He set the bag in the corner and waited for Valentine's entrance. The United States Champion came out to the ring and referee Randy Anderson called for the bell in this non-title encounter. The Snake slowly circled Valentine and gained an early advantage as the Hammer's focus turned toward that slightly moving bag. The Brain on commentary stated that Jake should NOT be allowed to bring that snake to the ring. Jake continued to push the advantage to the mid-way point in the match where Valentine used a rake of the eyes to stop the momentum. The Hammer went to work on the leg of Roberts, slowly and methodically beating him down. Both wrestlers in this match are legendary at their in-ring psychology. The crowd chanted for Jake while Valentine had the advantage and the Snake did mount a comeback, even setting up Valentine for his dreaded DDT finisher but the Living Legend came running out from the back and slid inside the ring, confronting Roberts! A brawl erupted between the two as Valentine was released and the bell sounded because of Zbyszko's interference. Jake Roberts b. Greg Valentine =A
Jake started getting the advantage on Zbyszko but Valentine chopped out his legs from behind! This led to Valentine and Zbyszko double-teaming Jake The Snake, stomping him down to the mat. =A The crowd cheered as out from the back came Roddy Piper to make the save! Piper went right after Valentine, spearing him to the ground and punching away on his opponent at Clash of the Champions! Zbyszko tried to help out but Jake got back up and floored the Living Legend with a DDT! Piper got off Valentine and Valentine grabbed his Horsemen partner and tugged him out of the ring. Piper and Jake stood back to back to ensure that no one could come out of the crowd to harm them until the Horsemen made it to the back and then they left together. =A
Main Event! Ric Flair and Arn Anderson vs. Ricky Steamboat and Harley Race It was main event time as two members of the Horsemen teamed together to take on their respective opponents at Clash of the Champions. Flair and Anderson had a definite advantage within the early-goings since they've teamed with each other over and over again within the past. It definitely helped their chemistry whereas Steamboat still didn't seem to trust Harley Race. Steamboat became the face-in-peril earlier, succumbing to various double-teams and illegal tactics by Flair and Double A. Eventually Steamboat fired back and was able to tag in Harley Race! Race cleaned house inside the ring with the Horsemen until he took a particularly nasty shot to the ribs by the legal man: Arn Anderson. The camera angle revealed that Arn had put brass knuckles on his hand but the referee Nick Patrick had not seen it. Arn tucked those knucks away and then dropped Race with a spinebuster to pick up a pinfall victory over the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champ! Ric Flair and Arn Anderson b. Ricky Steamboat and Harley Race =A
Flair and Anderson quickly rolled out of the ring and raised their hands in victory with Flair securing the NWA World Heavyweight Title strap while Anderson made a couple of motions at his waist, stating that he would soon have gold as well. =A Parking Lot Attack? Before the show went off the air, Dusty Rhodes was seen walking toward his car when a rather muscular man walked up to him and asked for his autograph. Of course Dusty took the pen and pad and began to oblige but the mystery man used the distraction to clothesline Dusty up against his car! He slammed Dusty's head against the windshield and all Dusty could do is cover up as the mystery man actually picked the American Dream up and bodyslammed him on top of the hood of the car. He flexed for a moment in front of Rhodes and Rhodes could be seen busted open on top of the car as the show faded out. =C+

Ok, I go a 100% the week before and then I completely miss out on predicting for this week. How'd that happen:eek: I wasn't paying attention is all lol. Another great show! The way it opened.... PHENOMINAL! Definitely wasn't prepared for it! Now for the predictions: Greg Valentine and Larry Zbyszko vs. Roddy Piper and Jake Roberts: I could end up surprised here, but with Jakes current push and the fact that he needs the momentum, I'm betting to the contrary. Eddie Gilbert vs. Sting Non-TitleThe Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics: This is the best Tag Tam in MACW right now. Better even than the Koloff's which is saying a lot! The Youngbloods vs. The Armstrong Brothers: Poor Youngbloods Gary Royal and George South vs. The Midnight Rockers: Eh, I hate South!

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Nashville Fairgrounds. Nashville, Tennessee Saturday Week 4 May 1983 Attendance: 2,000 Overall Rating: B- Rating:
Gary Royal and George South vs. The Midnight Rockers MACW opened with a match here as the Midnight Rockers came out to mostly cheers from the female fans as they prepared to take on Gary Royal and George South. Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan took this time to welcome everyone to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling as they prepare to head towards Clash of the Champions! The Rockers dominated this match much as anyone would expect them to. Shawn Michaels got the pinfall on South with the Double Superkick by the Midnight Rockers. The Midnight Rockers b. Gary Royal and George South =C-
I'm Still Standing Dusty Rhodes came out with a nice-looking bandage on his forehead. He began talking about that mystery man that attacked him this past Monday. He said that he's still standing and if that man has any guts he'll meet the Dream inside the ring at Clash of the Champions! He also said that he knows that Ric Flair is behind the attack on him last Monday and that Flair will pay for it. =A+
The Youngbloods vs. The Armstrong Brothers Two brother teams going at it as the Youngbloods take on the Armstrongs. This match merely served as a time for the announcers to speak on Dusty's accusation of Ric Flair. The Brain of course said that Flair wouldn't do such a thing while Caudle knew better. Oh and an average match took place inside the ring, seeing the Armstrongs pull off the upset when Brad pinned Mark Youngblood after a side Russian Legsweep. The Armstrong Brothers b. The Youngbloods =C
It Wasn't Me The NWA World Heavyweight Champion came out after the match and got into the ring with a nice looking armani suit on. He stated that despite what Dusty Rhodes might think, he did not sick this mystery man on the American Dream. Why would he do such a thing when he wants Dusty to be a Horseman? That would be stupid. He also reiterated the fact that Dusty has until the Clash of the Champions to decide whether he's with us or against us. =A+ Getting Your Attention A pre-recorded interview played spotlighting Paul Ellering and the Road Warriors. Ellering said that the tarring and feathering of the Koloffs was just to get their attention and it worked. Now at Clash of the Champions, his Road Warriors, his Legion of Doom will be walking out with the NWA World Tag Team Titles. =B
Non-TitleThe Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics The Fantastics consisting of Tommy Rogers and Bobby Fulton made their debut here tonight against the United States Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express. The Express dominated this bout with the fans turning on Tommy Rogers during it and actually spreading some cheers throughout for the Midnight Express. Eaton pinned Fulton with the Alabama Jam to get out of there quickly. The Midnight Express b. The Fantastics =C
Another Match For The Clash Bob Caudle and Bobby Heenan broke the announcement that WWF Heavyweight Champion Ray Stevens would be making his in-ring debut here in the Mid-Atlantic region at the Clash when he takes on Dory Funk Jr.! =A
Eddie Gilbert vs. Sting After what happened last Monday, Eddie Gilbert was raring to go in this one on one contest against the young Sting. The fans were solidly behind Sting after what Gilbert had done to Hulk Hogan last Monday but Gilbert took the advantage in the early-going. But it seemed that no matter what Gilbert did, it wouldn't get Sting pinned! Gilbert dominated most of the bout but Sting would kick out at two every single time! Eddie shook his head after a near-fall and went after referee Nick Patrick! Nick threatened to disqualify Gilbert and when Hot Stuff turned toward Sting, the man in the face paint fired a shot to Gilbert's belly! Sting began taking the advantage and whipped Gilbert into the turnbuckle. Sting gave a howl and leapt across the ring in that Stinger Splash, dropping Gilbert and making the cover and Sting gets the three count! Sting b. Eddie Gilbert =C
After Sting left the ring, Eddie Gilbert got up looking miserable. He turned to the referee, who was exiting the ring and attacked Nick Patrick! Hot Stuff laid out Nick with the Hot Shot, laughing at the fallen referee before leaving. =C- Preparing For The Clash A video showed Ricky Steamboat working out to get prepared for his match with Ric Flair, including several ways to reverse the Figure 4 Leglock. =A Another video was shown right after with Ric Flair working out and preparing for the match with Ricky Steamboat with his Horsemen buddies. =A Hype For The Match Jake The Snake and Rowdy Roddy were seen backstage for this special promo segment as they talked about the match tonight with the Horsemen. Jake promised he would begin his revenge tonight for what they've done to him and he would continue it at the Clash against Larry Zbyszko. Roddy said that tonight begins his road to the United States Heavyweight Title by pinning Greg Valentine. =A
Main Event! Greg Valentine and Larry Zbyszko vs. Roddy Piper and Jake Roberts This was just a brawl from the outset. All 4 of these men dislike each other and it showed in the way they wanted to just pound the hell out of one another. Nick Patrick made it back out there to referee this match after being attacked by Eddie Gilbert earlier in the show. This match rarely resembles a wrestling match and late in the bout all 4 men came into the ring and would not stop fighting with each other so Nick Patrick had no choice but to call for the double disqualification. Greg Valentine and Larry Zbyszko d. Roddy Piper and Jake Roberts =A
After the bell sounded, all 4 men continued to brawl! Officials poured out from the back, as well as wrestlers to try and keep this contained. They couldn't even keep all 4 men apart from one another and the brawl continued as the show ended. =A

Main Event! NWA World Heavyweight Title On The Line! Ric Flair(c) vs. Ricky Steamboat: Flair goes over Steamboat thus continuing Steamboats superb title quest. NWA World Tag Team Titles On The Line The Koloffs(c) vs. The Road Warriors: It' their time! Roddy Piper's Last Chance! If Roddy Piper Wins, He Wins The U.S. Title. If Roddy Piper Loses, He Leaves MACW Greg Valentine(c) vs. Roddy Piper: Piper cannot leave! United States Tag Team Titles On The Line The Midnight Express(c) vs. The Midnight Rockers: Rockers have been there and done that. Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title On The Line Harley Race(c) vs. Arn Anderson: It's looking like the time for old Harley to wind down. The Snake's Revenge Jake Roberts vs. Larry Zbyszko: It' is Jake's revenge right? Will The Mystery Man Answer The Challenge? Dusty Rhodes vs. The Mystery Man((Additional Prediction Is Mystery Man's Identity)): I'm going to venture a guess and say, Billy Graham. My reasoning is that Dusty and Billy have a heated past. The Crippler's Debut Ray Stevens vs. Dory Funk Jr. : Can't see him losing in his debut. Can't see the Horsemen staying out of this either. Eddie Gilbert vs. Hulk Hogan This is a top quality card to be sure! Loved the way the Tag Team Main event ended on your last show. I should have saw it coming.

Steamboat over Flair (the buildup has been great, I predict a short tenure with Flair winning title back with some horsemen help) Koloffs over Road Warriors I'm picking Steamboat, so I can only go w/ one major title change (right?) Valentine over Piper I can see an angle coming from this or perhaps even the numbers game is going to catch up to Hot Rod Express over Rockers same reason as ismailite Arn Anderson over Harley Race got to keep some title in horsemen Larry Zbyszko over jake the Snake 3 wins by Horsemen, have them saying it's their night only to have Steamboat foil plans The Mystery man over Dusty This will build the feud, Billy Graham is a nice guess, but how about Lex Luger? Stevens over Funk Jr.. One of the opening matchups, is worth price of admission Hulkster takes out Eddie Gilbert This might be considered one of the most loaded wrestling cards EVER!

MACW Presents: Clash Of The Champions! Mid-South Coliseum. Memphis, Tennessee Thursday Week 4 May 1983 Attendance: 7,585 Overall Rating: B+ PPV Buyrate: 24,004 Intro! The camera pans around the Mid-South Coliseum as Bob Caudle and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan welcomed everyone to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling's Clash of the Champions! Tonight is a STACKED card with an awesome main event featuring "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair defending his NWA World Heavyweight Title against "The Dragon" Ricky Steamboat. =A
Eddie Gilbert vs. Hulk Hogan And the show opened with the fans cheering for the entrance of the Immortal Hulk Hogan! Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert was already in the ring and attacked Hogan as soon as Hogan entered the ring. But Hogan powered out and clotheslined Gilbert to the ground! Gilbert rolled out of the ring and Hogan posed, tearing open his shirt to cheers from the crowd. Eddie slid back into the ring and raised up a hand, offering a test of strength to Hogan. Hogan looked to the crowd, who booed and tried to tell him not to do it. But Hogan looked back to Gilbert and began raising his hand up slowly. Fingers touched and then locked and Hogan squeezed! Gilbert's eyes went wide and he dropped to his knees in pain and grimmaces! Eddie tried to get his hand free but Hogan wouldn't let go! So Eddie reached up and poked him in the eyes! Hogan released and stumbled slightly and Gilbert struck the back of Hogan's knee to bring him down. He dropped an elbow and got a two count. Hot Stuff continued to hold the advantage, using a few wear-down holds to keep Hogan from fighting back. Gilbert had a reverse chinlock locked in when Hogan began fighting back. He rose to his feet and dropped Gilbert with a backdrop! Both men lie on the ground for several moments before Gilbert began to get up. He stomped on Hogan but Hogan sat up with his eyes going wide! Uh oh! It's a Hulk-Up as Hogan began no-selling Eddie Gilbert's offense. Hogan rose to his feet and began walking around the ring, shaking his fist and nearly going into convulsions! Finally he turned to Gilbert and pointed at him, wagging his finger back and forth. He blocked a punch and let into Gilbert with several right hands! He whipped Gilbert across the ring but Eddie grabbed the ropes and dropped into the corner. Wait, he's getting something from his trunks as Hogan walks over. Hogan leans in and... Holy ****...! It's a fireball! Eddie Gilbert just tossed a fireball into Hulk Hogan's face! Referee Nick Patrick has no choice but to call for the bell. Hulk Hogan b. Eddie Gilbert =B+
Eddie lifts a stunned Hogan and drops him with a Hot Shot and then begins stomping away on the Immortal One! The crowd chants 'Hogan, Hogan, Hogan.' But it's to no avail as Hogan isn't able to defend himself after that fireball! Eddie raises his own arms and leaves to boos from the crowd. =B Crippler A No-Show? The cameras went backstage of the event to find Ric Flair and Arn Anderson discussing the fact that Ray Stevens is not here at the Mid-South Coliseum. Instead, he chose to go and defend his WWF World Heavyweight Title, basically screwing over the Horsemen. Flair was not too pleased with this fact and said that the Horsemen may have to show him some tough love come Monday night. =B I Still Wanna Fight! Dory Funk Jr. walked out to cheers from the crowd and boos when it was announced that he won by forfeit. It seems that the fans were none too happy with Ray Stevens being a no-show but as always the card is subject to change. Dory got on the microphone and said that he came here looking to wrestle tonight so if anyone backstage has the guts they can step on out and take Ray Stevens' place in the Funk spinning toehold. =B+ From behind the curtain several moments later walks...Sting! Sting says that he accepts Funk's challenge but that Funk doesn't know what he's getting into because tonight it's SHOWTIME! OWWW! =B
Dory Funk Jr. vs. Sting Sting slid inside the ring and referee Teddy Long called for the bell and the match was on! Dory certainly wasn't prepared for a speed attack tonight and that's exactly what Sting did in the outset. He hit and moved, eventually landing a dropkick that sent Funk rolling outside the ring for a breather. Sting howled to the crowd and looked pumped up as Funk slowly entered the ring again. Funk backed Sting into a corner and instead of giving a clean break, he smacked the young Stinger around a little in the corner. Sting came firing out but Funk dropped him with a drop toehold. He went for the Spinning toehold but Sting got to the ropes to break the hold quickly. The next few minutes had Funk continue his attack on the leg of the Stinger, keeping him down much to the actual chagrin of the crowd. They seemed to be really getting behind Sting in this match for the underdog factor. Sting powered out of a pin attempt by Funk and slowly began getting to his feet. He clotheslined down his opponent! Another one! He limped a little but managed to get some air under a dropkick that really seemed to hurt him more than it hurt Funk! Both men were slow to get to their feet with Funk falling back into a corner! Sting saw this and howled to the crowd as he backed into the opposite corner. He came limping forward, not getting too much speed under himself. He leapt for the Stinger Splash but Funk moved out of the way! Sting caught the ropes to stop himself but Funk took out his leg from behind! Funk pulled Sting from the ropes and locked in that Spinning Toehold, causing Sting to submit after a moment or two. Dory Funk Jr. b. Sting =B
Dusty Attacked A video played recanting the story where Dusty Rhodes was attacked within the parking lot by a 'fan.' Then it also showed where Dusty made the challenge for that 'fan' to come out at the Clash for a match. =B- The Challenge Is Out There Dusty Rhodes came out to the ring and reiterated his challenge made to that mystery man that attacked him if you willl. In the background, Bob Caudle noted that the fan is not so much a fan as a wrestler himself from down in Florida by the name of Lex Luger. Dusty paced along the ring for awhile, waiting to see if Lex would answer the challenge. =B-
Dusty Rhodes vs. Lex Luger Luger stepped out from the back finally, flexing his physique as he walked down toward the ring and slid inside. He's obviously worked out a lot. Referee Teddy Long was back in the ring for this one and as he checked Dusty for foreign objects, the American Dream was nailed by a blindside forearm shot by Luger! Dusty stumbled back in the corner and Luger began pummeling him all the way down to the mat! Luger flexed his muscles to boos from the crowd before picking Dusty up and irish whipping him across to the other side! Luger came charging in but Dusty got out of the way and Luger went face-first into the turnbuckles! Luger turned around and Dusty started peppering him with right hands. Another! And Another! And another! And a little flip-flop and fly and a bionic elbow to the top of the head! Luger went down and Dusty taunted him while standing above him. But the crowd turned their heads as Ric Flair came walking down toward the ring. He had said before that he had given Dusty Rhodes until the Clash to get an answer on him joining the Horsemen and maybe Flair's looking for an answer right now! Dusty lifted Luger up and pulled the Total Package into a backbreaker. He looked right down at Flair and taunted the Nature Boy! Then he dropped a bionic elbow on Luger before making the cover. He only got a two count when Flair dropped an elbow on referee Teddy Long, thus ending the match. Dusty Rhodes b. Lex Luger =A
Dusty got back up and went right after Flair, pushing him back in the corner. Flair clinched with Dusty and held him long enough for Luger to get back up and give Dusty a low-blow! Luger pulled Dusty up and whipped him into the ropes catching him on the way back with a powerslam! Luger and Flair put the boots to the American Dream to boos from the crowd! =B+ Flair was handed a microphone and said that this is a message to anyone not willing to accept a spot in the Horsemen when it's handed to them. You'll be laying down on the mat on your back just like this! Whooo! =A+ Snake's Revenge Jake Roberts was shown in the back to some cheers from the crowd as he slowly stroked his pet snake. He looked up in the camera and explained that he doesn't hate the Horsemen for all the attacks they've done to him. No, they have given him a renewed sense of purpose and a reason for being here in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. And tonight Larry Zbyszko will be the first to find out just what DDT stands for....the end. =B+ The cameras quickly flipped to Larry Zbyszko warming up for the match to boos from the crowd. Larry said that he's just looking to explain that Jake Roberts is not in his league. After all, he IS a living legend. Tonight after he puts the Snake in the past he can focus on more important issues, like bringing more gold to the Horsemen. =A
Jake Roberts vs. Larry Zbyszko Jake came out with that large white snakehandler's bag and set it in his corner before slumping down in that same corner and waiting for Zbyszko. The Living Legend did NOT come alone. No, he brought J.J. Dillon and the rest of the Horsemen with him. BUT before the match got started, referee Nick Patrick sent all of the Horsemen to the back! The crowd popped huge when Nick made that decision and the Horsemen tried to act all innocent, like they're just there for moral support or something but the referee would have none of it. He let J.J. stay because Dillon has a manager's license. Jake rose from the corner and the bell sounded when ringside had been virtually cleared and the match was on. This was as much a technical feast as one would expect between these two. Some highlights include Zbyszko locking a sleeperhold on Roberts too close to the ropes and Jake grabbed the ropes rather quickly to break the hold. Jake carried a lot of the offense in the beginning of the match, though, with Zbyszko continually looking toward the bag with the snake in it. In the end, though, it was the other snake at ringside that would make the difference. The referee got bumped and J.J. Dillon took off his shoe, sliding it in to Zbyszko. Jake managed to kick the Living Legend in the gut, though, and took the shoe from him, giving him a sound smack before dropping Larryland with a DDT! Jake woke up the referee and the pinfall was academic. Jake Roberts b. Larry Zbyszko =A
After the match, J.J. Dillon was about to slide in the ring when Jake went and got the bag containing the snake. Dillon watched horrified at ringside as Jake emptied the contents of the bag, showing a rather large snake on the mat. Jake grabbed the snake and placed it on top of Zbyszko's chest! After a few moments, Zbyszko's eyes widened as he saw the snake and he began to scoot backwards as the snake hissed at him! Jake laughed and took the snake himself as Zbyszko took off from the ring and headed quickly toward the back. =A ((Part 2 coming soon, including the main event...!))

Nice first half of your "Clash" Looks like more than what I expected out of what I thought would be a Hogan squash Sucks that "the Crippler" no-showed...I was really looking forward to that match I guess I nailed it with Luger being mystery man...is Luger in The Horsemen Zbyszko on a bit of a slide...but Jake being new needed win to get over... Look forward to the rest of the card

Yeah, I didn't realize that Ray would be wrestling for the WWF during that day. I tried to book a clean day so to speak so that none of my wrestlers would have any conflicts and not show up but I did lose one. As for Luger being in the Horsemen? Wait and see...lol.
