  1. I was aggravated by the finish to the opener. Xavier Woods lies there motionless with a chair on top of him, after he's kicked out of a pin and shown signs of life but I'm supposed to believe that a stomp is enough to knock him out long enough for that finishing sequence? Why didn't he just move? That took me out the match a little but otherwise it was really fun, I like a good plunder brawl and this was as violent as WWE is ever going to be these days. The Uso's have been a revelation in their current role.

Maybe it's a sign of good things to come for the division. <p> Unless they plan on giving Bray Wyatt something better to do than to job to Balor in every match and actually do something memorable with it, why drag the feud on any longer. It's been going on since the shakeup.</p><p> </p><p> May be in the minority here but Im on board with Reigns being the guy. Hopefully we'll continue to see a more human Reigns that gets beat up and actually stays down, wins big matches but loses little ones that put other guys over, basically everything that drove us crazy about Cena and even Hogan with their egos and be "the guy" that doesnt use backstage pull to massage his own ego. When he first broke from the Shield he was gettin bad but everyone deserves a smack in the face and hopefully he realizes it while it's still early but it took Cena forever to realize it aint just the Cena show.</p></div></blockquote><p> Cena never used backstage stroke to stay on top, barring that one time he beat The Nexus, and the story goes that he regretted it immediately and wished he'd put them over.</p><p> </p><p> Edited because: Never write a post after an awful day at work.</p>

Match lenght was not really high so they couldn't really make a classic. Apart from Baszler, who makes a brilliant heel quite like the UK finalist, the kayfabe card wasn't played at all. In the pre-final tag match, the supposed heels got much better crowd reactions.</p><p> </p><p> Mercedes impressed me a lot more with her SHIMMER work and though it was definitely not bad, it wasn't stellar. Baszler does need to stop with the fake MMA strikes. It looked stupid.</p></div></blockquote><p> Yeah, I agree with all of this. </p><p> </p><p> Ultimately, I think the tournament was a success. I could have done without the glad-handing but we know how much they love patting themselves on the back. Hopefully, they make it an annual thing!</p>
  4. <p>I wonder if they'll sign anybody given how full the women's division is already. Between those on TV already, all of the WWE-signed debutants from the Mae Young Classic (Dakota, Laith, Ripley and Belair) will surely join the ranks now.</p><p> </p><p>

Mia Yim is somebody they need yesterday, I've been on this bandwagon for ages haha. But you can play the waiting game on Tessa Blanchard and Toni Storm, both ladies are very young still and will be served better gaining experience in the promotions they currently frequent. Piper Niven is only 25/26 so there's no harm waiting a couple more years on her too. </p><p> </p><p>

Mercedes Martinez is probably too old and I'm not sure she really showed all that much with her recent injury lay-off and all. Same for Princesa Sugehit, who may get unmasked this weekend at the CMLL Anniversary Show. If she does, speculation over her future will start but again, she's mid 30's and I'm not sure she excelled at the tourney. Her match with Kay Lee Ray was decent but it's impossible to have a stinker with KLR, who will surely get signed at some point in the next two to three years.</p><p> </p><p>

Obviously, they're already going to sign Shayna.</p><p> </p><p>

Jazzy got over with Full Sail. Great look, great brutish charisma but I'm not sure she's got the skills in the ring to back it up. I've heard rumours she's signed but nothing is official yet. If they fine tune her into a decent wrestler, the sky will be the limit for her.</p><p> </p><p>

Anybody I missed? Oh, Candice LeRae. I don't know about her, the timing will have to be right for an endearing, underdog babyface. With Kairi and Dakota, and to a lesser extent Laith, they don't really need Candice and she doesn't need to get lost in the shuffle - she gets plenty of work at the minute.</p>

I didn't expect five stars or anything but I at least expected that the later round matches would run longer and have a sense of urgency to them.</p>
  6. BREAKING NEWS: Company makes investment, doesn't make return on investment within first three months!

Pretty sure that the dirt sheeters just spin a wheel every week and make up a story, this week it landed on TNA so they have to report imminent death rumours!

In more positive news from GFW, I am excited for the Global Force Network and will sub to that the moment it goes live, provided it's on a proper platform. Hopefully they work the content out correctly, I want unlimited access to every X-Division match TNA has ever taped. If they can give me that, they can have my money.

  7. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="BHK1978" data-cite="BHK1978" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25170" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Hence why I said he seemed like a nice guy. I am not getting what the issue is here. If you made your response post because of the last bit I wrote, then I will tell you why I did it.<p> </p><p> My reason was twofold. One because it is true. He seemed like a nice person but just because he took the time to talk to me does not mean that is the case. I mean by all accounts O.J. Simpson comes across as a nice, charming person. However, a nice person does not do what he did. I am not comparing the two to each other, I am just using an extreme to prove a point.</p><p> </p><p> The other reason why I wrote that was because I did not want someone coming on here and saying the opposite of what you said. I did not want someone to say, "You talked to the guy for a minute. How can you make that assessment that he is a nice guy?" For me it was a preemptive strike so I would not have to respond to that type of post. Because more often than not, those are the type of crazy responses my posts tend to illicit on this site.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div></blockquote><p> There is no issue. I was agreeing with you that him stopping to talk to you, even if it was only for a short while, was nice of him. It was nice for him to extend that courtesy. I know of a lot of wrestlers that wouldn't.</p>
  8. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="BHK1978" data-cite="BHK1978" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25170" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I would agree with your assessment. Moose does not seem to be all that great on the microphone either.<p> </p><p> I actually met Moose last year at a Ring of Honor show. He was in the parking lot and I talked to him for like a minute or so. He seemed like a nice guy. But then again anyone can seem nice if you only talk to them for a minute so that is not really a strong basis for judging anyone.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> He stopped to talk to you and gave you some of his time, that's already more of a courtesy than a lot of wrestlers would offer you.</p>

It was pretty much dead on arrival with the time slot it was given.</p>
  10. It was a botched finish. Styles got his shoulder up before the three but the ref was in the wrong position and counted it down. Styles was furious, shouted at the referee, kicked the ring steps, was still in the ring as production staff were putting up the poles for the flag match. Then Rusev had to scurry up the ramp after his entrance and grab the Bulgaria flag, which wouldn't happen ordinarily because Vince crosses the t's and dots the i's. There's no way Rusev or the production staff would get that little nugget wrong unless something had gone awry.
  11. <p>There are no semifinals by the way guys, the winner of each block goes straight to the final.</p><p> </p><p>

I like how they line things up. We have Goto vs Ibushi on the last day. I wouldn't be surprised if they have Goto win that, putting him level on points with Naito who he beat, leaving Naito with a must-win match against Tanahashi, who he lost to at Dominion.</p><p> </p><p>

B block is relatively cut and dry. I think Omega is advancing to the final, although I'd like to see them test the waters with EVIL or Sanada in a 25-30 minute main event spot. If not that, one of those two should be beating Okada to set up a title match at Kings of Pro-Wrestling. I think Naito is winning the tournament, he missed out on the final last year when he lost to Omega so it's poetic that he should get his win back.</p>

  12. I have this theory that Corey Graves is the mastermind behind Cass turning on Enzo and this Jordan ordeal.

I mean in a kayfabe sense.

In my theory Graves is manipulating people in order to set it up for him to be a GM down the line.

I like the idea of Graves getting in from underneath but I'm tired of non-wrestling personalities that deserve comeuppance. I have seen enough evil authority figures in my wrestling to last me a lifetime.

  13. I feel like they had to do a last minute rewrite because of Bischoff's interview where he let the plan slip. It didnt seem like they were making out that it would ruin him.

I don't think that's the case for a number of reasons. Dave Meltzer has been letting their plans slip for years, he told all his readers what the penciled-in WrestleMania card was in January and none of their plans changed. WWE don't counter-program, they are stubborn to an hilarious degree (see: Roman Reigns). When TNA was running head-to-head against them, they made no effort to book anything around what TNA was booking that night. It meant that sometimes TNA's most important segments were running against six-diva tag team matches.

Eric Bischoff was likely just putting 2 and 2 together. Dixie appeared on a Network exclusive last week and RAW was in her hometown of Nashville this week. Another reason that I think this was pre-planned was Chad Gable's singles appearance two weeks ago. He categorically denied American Alpha were splitting back then and has today issued a statement about how much of a best friend Jason Jordan is. The first move was to throw fans off JJ's scent, the second move was clearly written and planned in advance of them running this angle.

Good for Jason Jordan, by the way. He's worked bloody hard and made great strides. He deserves all the success he gets.

As soon as people start falling behind, that's when they stop reading.</p>
  15. <p>I'm a little confused about this upcoming SummerSlam and what WWE are thinking with regards the booking.</p><p> </p><p>

It's been suggested in the past that they are trying to make it a second WrestleMania and certainly the past couple of years have suggested that they are making an effort to define it as the second most important event on the calendar year. WrestleMania is the only other place you would see special singles matches like Lesnar vs. Orton and Lesnar vs. Taker.</p><p> </p><p>

But this year... I know it's too early to judge and all that but normally they free their programs up at this point and start with a fresh, new direction. Not this year, we're getting rematches, previously ran rivalries and multi-person cluster matches. The only feud on the RAW side of things that appears to be fresh is going to be Bray vs. Balor, which they started and cut short after WrestleMania to do that god-awful House of Horrors match. It's not a lock that they will run Bray vs. Balor but neither man is in a program as of the end of yesterday's show so... i guess they have to?</p><p> </p><p>

The rest is <em>been there done that</em> territory for me. The Number One Contenders match announced on RAW is pointing to a four way match, which is smart with regards them already having ran through Reigns vs. Joe but I wanted Lesnar vs. Strowman. <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I think if they run a four way, they probably have Lesnar pinning Joe so Strowman vs. Reigns can continue, that is feud of the year at the moment so it's only right to keep it going. But I'm fearing already that last year's rumour of Reigns vs. Lesnar headlining WrestleMania will probably turn out true in this scenario.</p><p> </p><p>

Yeah, I'm not really digging this card. Maybe, you the reader, are but I am not unfortunately. Hopefully the SmackDown side of things can save this one. What do people think we're going to see from SmackDown on this card?</p>

  16. I agree that Bliss' upside isn't her wrestling ability but she's more a victim of bad booking than anything else. She took the title from Bayley and retained fairly convincingly in a bad match before being placed in a messy feud with the rest of the division. All this has happened during a period of time when the fans were crying out for a Sasha heel turn and singles program with Bayley.

All in all, I'm not sure I'm pleased with the direction of either brand's Women's division. It certainly feels like they're treading water until they can turn Sasha and Charlotte and kick off the real programs against Bayley and Becky respectively but we may have to wait until WrestleMania season for that.

  17. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="cappyboy" data-cite="cappyboy" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="26106" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Is it my imagination of has the RoH World Title race suddenly turned to gossamer? I have no doubt the Christopher Daniels/Cody Rhodes match was a strong contest or that whoever won is a worthy champ. But who really is there to challenge the winner for the title? It's getting hard to figure out people for that.<p> </p><p> Annoying as they both were, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish are two common choices who are now both gone. Adam Cole has every appearance of joining them at some point soon. The Briscoes have spent the first half of this year on a fringe belt that never lasts. Projects like Cedric Alexander and Moose who should be in the mix were chased away. The only Top Prospect of the last five to have held any singles gold is Matt Taven. And that's been long enough ago newer fans could be forgiven for not knowing he'd ever had that reign. Colt Cabana appears to be done altogether with all the commentary he's doing lately. Jay Lethal I see and there is the attempt to crash course Silas Young into a viable option. But beyond that, the pool looks pretty empty.</p></div></blockquote><p> Yeah it's a very real problem because there's so many opportunities elsewhere. You can go to TNA and only work a week every month and get guaranteed money or you can chance your arm on the independent scene in the US, try to get into EVOLVE and wait for the WWE call. Failing that you can go to Japan like ACH and Michael Elgin, where's so much going on that you're always going to be doing something. ACH went from working useless six man tags to wrestling Ibushi at the Tokyo Dome... It's no surprise people walk when they find themselves stuck in the mud and, from what I've heard, Delirious is hard to reach which only further frustrates genuine talent like Cedric Alexander that should be getting a push.</p>
  18. This PPV name wasn't Vince's idea. Vince has been naming events Survivor Series, Backlash, Bad Blood, No Mercy, etc etc for over 30 years now, why would he break that mold now?

Meanwhile, HHH has facilitated the birth of the working relationship with ICW and PROGRESS and you're telling me it's a mere coincidence that WWE is now giving their special events stupid names like they do?

  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Blackman" data-cite="Blackman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>That said, there were obviously better options.</div></blockquote><p> I'm not sure there were. SmackDown is shockingly short of heels and they're trusting themselves to create a new one. I'll do my best to explain why I see Jinder as a good choice by listing the cons of choosing many of the talents mentioned above.</p><p> </p><p> Sami Zayn has only recently been drafted and will win the WWE title eventually when his story demands it. Zayn is getting close but falling short at the final hurdle, that's been his story since arriving on WWE television and thus, his first shot at the big one should be booked as a memorable moment on a big show and should be presented with the grandiosity that it deserves. In order to make that story work, he needs a devious opponent that is easy to dislike. Randy Orton, at present, is not that opponent and turning him back to heel would be careless. It's best to save the Sami Zayn story for later.</p><p> </p><p> Over the past couple of months, Luke Harper has flip-flopped between being Orton's rival and Bray's ally to Orton's friend and Bray's rival so much that suddenly presenting him as Orton's primary thorn in the ass would be so confusing in this larger context that it's not even worth thinking about. I understand that it's all competition but you cannot manufacture four weeks of compelling television with such a story. Harper's role in Orton's life has met it's end momentarily, like any ordinary television show there's no demand for him to reprise his role now it's met its natural conclusion. </p><p> </p><p> Shinsuke Nakamura is a boss ass bitch that will kick your head off. So he shouldn't be losing for sure but is also too new and unproven on the main roster to be winning the title and carrying the brand at this juncture. His feud with Dolph Ziggler is perfect for both parties involved as Nakamura needs to be put in a position to succeed and Ziggler needs to be putting such talent over and showcasing their best strengths. It's hardly wise to use Dolph Ziggler just to put Randy Orton over (like he needs it) when you could be using him to put the future face of the brand over instead, which benefits the brand far more in the long term. Both performers have their role in this play called Backlash and it would be unwise and damaging now to recast them.</p><p> </p><p> Mojo Rawley is an excitable yet one-dimensional babyface. Do we even need to think about how four weeks of television would play out if this guy was positioned as number one contender? Next.</p><p> </p><p> Baron Corbin is your next WWE Champion. Just not yet. He needs to work AJ Styles for a couple of months to learn how to really work and then he will be ready to be the big evil that Smackdown needs heading into the summer. Make no mistake about it, Corbin will be defending the WWE title against Zayn, that's when that story will occur. So having him lose here? I think it will do more damage than good, especially if the match is not anything to write home about. I've mentioned above that Orton has a tendency to work on autopilot and if Corbin's match with Ambrose at WrestleMania is anything to go by, Corbin simply cannot carry a talent that isn't giving him 100%. Just like Zayn, the story of big banter Corbin is yet to come but the timing needs to be right, otherwise you've wasted precious material.</p><p> </p><p> And so, Jinder Mahal. At best, he cuts some good promos over the next four weeks and Orton gives him something to work with during the actual match. At worst, we still have Nak vs. Ziggler and Owens vs. Styles to look forward to so... I'm cool with all of this haha.</p>
  20. <p>The only problem I see in taking the long game with Jinder is that the entire act with the Bollywood Boyz is going to be rejected by the fans en masse. I can foresee a scenario where he wins feuds with Zayn and Harper and then starts getting the wrong kind of heat. They need a high ceiling to make this work so starting out hot sounds perfectly logical to me.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm not even convinced Jinder is the problem here, Randy Orton is notoriously unmotivated, perhaps more so than Dean Ambrose. If he's not licking his lips over this program, the matches may wind up sucking more farts than the Wyatt program he apparently enjoyed. It's going to be down to Orton to carry this, which is rarely ever good news since his best matches have always been against superior workers than he.</p><p> </p><p>

Either way, I am cautiously optimistic like most people here and glad to see they still have the minerals to try something different once in a while.</p>
