Gail Kim vs Mickie James

Very bad match, and a lot of it was Mickie's fault. She couldn't hit an offensive move that didn't look sloppy as hell, and the kick Gail "no-sold" missed her by so much Cole and King admitted the kick missed completely and sold the punch as the knockout blow. The match wasn't well-booked anyway, with the "two babyfaces going for the same spot" routine being done to freaking death. I'm a pretty staunch defender of the divas when they go out there and give it their all, but it seems like Mickie's been going through the motions the past few months. At this point I would much rather see Gail/Beth for the title.

It actually had some nice moves and somewhat different match booking. The bad thing was that because it was so different from a normal women's match in WWE, the match fell apart, it had no flow into it. The match was just big spots coming out nowhere without any building up, so to speak. Almost no strikes, no restholds and such.

The worst part is, Mickie and Gail are supposedly two of the best in-ring workers WWE has. If your best are stinkin' up the joint, wtf is supposed to happen when the likes of Maryse and Maria lock up?</p>

<p>In comparison to the rest of the Divas matches WWE have put out recently, it really wasn't that bad. Alright it was fairly disjointed and pretty sloppily put together but I think that was because they tried to cram too much into a very short match.</p><p> </p><p>

And you can't really blame either of them for the ending or call it more than one botch. The only botch in the end sequence was Gail slamming her head into the canvas after that cross body [about 4:45 in the video someone linked to]. After that Gail Kim can barely stand straight, so she has almost no say in how the DDT goes, and Mickie obviously struggles to do it alone. That isn't a botch, that's making the best of a very bad situation. Then for the kick, Gail is clearly wobbling, so Mickie had to play it safe and keep her distance, in case she wobbled forward at the wrong moment and took Mickie's foot flush to the head. Again, not so much a botch as having to be very cautious in the situation, and at least she followed up with a forearm to give some kind of reasoning to why Gail stayed down for the three, other than admitting to the fans that she had botched a few moves earlier with the cross body.</p>

Hey, the divas four way last week was sick, THAT was better than anything recently <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>In fairness, Mickie's move is ridiculous. It requires her opponent to lift her into the air before spiking their own head into the mat. There's suspension of disbelief, and then there's that friggin' move.</p><p> </p><p>

I like that she's got some meat on her, but I've always found Mickie James to be over-rated.</p>

<p>Gail clearly knocked herself loopy on that missed cross body, look how she lands.</p><p> </p><p>

She face planted, legit. Then james dosen't notice and tries the DDT, which gail no sells because she's nearly out on her feet, so she gets legit DDT'd.</p><p> </p><p>

Check out mikki's "victory" celebration, all she does is go through the motions while looking back at gail every 3 seconds to she if she's getting up.</p><p> </p><p>

Disapointing match, since these two are good talents, but i can't really fault mikki for trying to lead a nearly knocked out standing gail through the ending.</p><p> </p><p>

here's a good frame by frame breakdown, if anyone cares.</p><p> </p><p>

But i give a little more leeway to bad matches that result from worker injury during the match. Watch the ref in the vid, he leaves the ring to count the 3 (and immediately signals to the back, as you can see in the stills). They were worried she was out cold.</p><p> </p><p> Then we get the super awkward first victory celebration, where mikki can't keep he eyes off gail, seeing if she's going to get up.</p><p> </p><p> If anything, the <strong>second</strong> post match victory celebration by mikki is the most painful thing to watch, because mikki looks like she can't believe the ref is telling her to go through the motions a second time with gail before gail can get out of their and get some help. She even has to grab gail's hand and raise it because gail clearly has no idea what's going on.</p><p> </p><p> hopefully gail is alright, and doesn't have a nasty grade of concussion.</p>

I have not watched a WWE show in quite some time, but is it just me or is The King much more subdued than he use to be. As for the match it did seem ok up until Gail slammed her head after the Cross Body attempt and you can tell that Gail was out of it. Still I miss her in the Knockouts division. Her segments with Awesome Kong were always good.

Aye. could be on his way out soon as well. He just comes out with the odd one liner here and there.

Really would welcome a new heel colour commentator, JBL was simply epic and coach made things more entertaining. Now it's just dull.

That's all true but maybe my standards are a bit too high. I recall Triple H wrestling a match after he tore his quad. Undertaker wrestling a cage match with a bicep muscle that was torn off the bone (and rolled up his arm). I've seen women wrestle matches while concussed (Megumi Kudo vs Shark Tsuchiya in FMW as one example) and the matches didn't look nearly as bad as that one did. Yes, I'll give Mickie some props for giving the match a merciful end with the rushed finish but I've always judged female wrestlers on the same scale as male ones. If you're supposed to be the best the division has to offer, you've gotta do better than Mickie did in this match. I'll cut them a little slack since they recently lost the closest thing to a ring general they had for the division, but if they're going to put a match between these two on a pay per view (and keep other, better matches in the pre-show), it's gotta be higher quality than this cluster**** was.

And Nedew, you are a sick, sick man. :p (Yes, I'm kidding)

Didn't think it was all that bad (apart from the end) but it was pretty dumb. Looked like they were trying to go for an RVD/Lynn style chain-wrestling-fest but between two rather lackluster wrestles. The ideas were quite nice but everything looked a tad unnatural Very strange...

Having said that, Mickie's sell on the Dropkick was surprisingly good.

Match pre Missed cross body was much like the said before trying to do too much in too little time combined with the going for same move routine. After the faceplant I think Micky didn't realise it when she went for her ddt and that was supposed to be the finish then shocked at what happend and snafud the mick kick and had the wits about her to do the quick punch and end it. Props for Kim to get up at all and for James to think on her feet so to speak. You can't really judge towards other injuries that have happend in the past imho as each situation is unique and given the circumstances it wasn't that bad. Taylor WIlde dragging Angeline Love on top of her was worse hehe. Lets just hop Gail is ok and that they will have a good match on ppv.
