Are worker images important to you?

Recommended Posts

As it says on the tin, does not having worker images bug you? Can you play the game with no worker images, or do you need to make sure everyone has an image?

I only ask because I've seen some people obssess over images, but personally I don't care for them. In fact, I don't have a single worker image on my computer. I hate the idea that I can play ten years into a game, and Harry Smith still looks like a kid, when he should be in his early 30's. My solution to this is to not use any images, then I have no inconsitency in profiles (with some having images, some not), and there is no limit to my imagination. If I want to turn Triple H into a Sting tribute act, I can. I don't have to try and create a new image, or wait for someone to create me one on the boards.

So, do you care about worker images? Or do you not care?

I'm the opposite. I cannot play without images, even if I have to Photoshop them myself.

I totally agree. I actually like to alter pics and do so quite frequently. The pic gives the worker depth. Otherwise it would be just a name appearing on my screen. I dont play real world mods though. But if my screen would just say "James Justice vs. Doctor Insane" and I couldnt really visualize those two fighting it would detract from the fun a million times.

I have to say that I have a strong preference for pictures. A game like TEW if (for me) all about the people involved. I need to be able to picture the way they look and act if I'm going to get the most out of that character. That doesn't mean that everyone needs to have an awesome picture and a million alts, but if a picture can provide me with an extra hook to get me into a character then that can influence what I'm going to do with them. It's one of the reasons I struggle to get into real world games too... using real people gives me an even sharper desire to book them in a manner that seems appropriate, so without pictures or knowledge of their character I really struggle to do much with people. Which is a shame really.

I doubt anyones going to be saying they "dislike having the pictures". It gives everything a more personal feel when you can look at the worker you're pushing to the moon... or jobbing like crazy. I agree with the poster above--if the worker doesn't have a picture, I find myself not using them and/or wanting them. Unless it's a staff member without a pic (road agent, referee, announcer) it's really important.

I've never really considered the age thing or gimmick change you're talking about. I don't use real world mods (only C-Verse) so a lot of those things wouldn't necessarily apply anyways. I play a lot of games that go for many years and having someone have a pic of themselves 10 years ago isn't a problem for me, it's still them...

  • 4 weeks later...

Yes they are, here's a few reasons why

1)they help me to identify people faster and remember storylines, especially when I don't play for a few weeks/months at a time.

2)they help decide who I'm going to push, or who to put in a stable

3)I edit them to fit storylines and add character (and always assign pics to game generated characters without them).

4)they are just plain cool.

This is why I personally have to have a pic for everyone. I am terrible with names (like there are probably ten to twenty people I know personally that I could tell you the name of without having to pause to think, and I just mean the first name of, and I have five siblings and two step parents. I have really learned to get by without using people's name in real life).

I love psych test, so the idea of someone completely changing the pics is really something that I think would be awesome. Even just renaming all the pics so everyone's is changed around would be awesome. Really get to know yourself along with the C-verse a lot more.

<p>I'm a graphics whore, so without worker pictures there would be no way I could even play the TEW.</p><p> </p><p>

Sadly my whoreishness also means I'm very particular about the images. Some workers I refuse (or at the bare minimum, loath) to add to my own mod because I can't find a picture that's visually pleasing. I even have a hard time with the c-verse sometimes because of the blue background and some of the renders (no offense intended to any of the awesome guys who do this for free; I'm just picky about 3D).</p><p> </p><p>

So yeah, I guess I'm more of an extreme case though <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

To buck the trend, I don't find them to be all that important - most of my favourite TEW08 games have been played using the Effganic database, which is based on randomly generated characters who by default have no pictures. That's not to say I'm opposed to them, and they do make the game look nicer, but they don't change any of the core mechanics that make TEW the awesome game it is.

<p>I don't care if they have a pic if it's fictional, do if it's real world. That being said, I do care about pics.</p><p> </p><p>

However, I really only care if you provide the "hard to get" pics. The easy ones to get with a google, I don't care if you have them or not. It's easy enough for me to search, get a pic I like, and save it into the pics folder (all sizes work). I try to get ones that are as square as possible so they stay semi-right, as they will stretch if they are too wide or long, making them look fat or skinny, lol.</p><p> </p><p>

Anyways, no biggy to me if I can find the pics. Not at all.</p>

<p>I find them very important. In many ways a lot of workers are basically the same, and the only thing that is different about them is pictures.</p><p> </p><p>

If not for pictures you might as well just name all the wrestlers "Flyer with Mediocore Technical" or "Brawler with Charisma", ext.</p>
