Just finished my first full year with CGC. Significant thing in terms of financials and it took me some time to realize it was the economy and industry both tanked relatively early in the year and are just know going back up...so that has slowed growth down a bit.

Jack DeColt has been the runaway MVP. No shocker here. Around 90 Pop across Canada and his stats are still inclining sooo hopefully no time decline anytime soon at 39. He has yet to lose the title..and is currently undefeated with 39 wins 1 draw and 0 losses...The plan is to have Ricky turn heel at DWF and take the title from him at Ultimate Showdown.

Ricky DeColt A bit more battle tested and struggling road in terms of kayfabe for Ricky with 6 loses or so...but mostly to give some heels a bump before the fought Jack. Currently sits around 75-77 Pop Across Canada.

Aaron Andrews If it wasn't for Jack he'd probably be the MVP...picked him up shortly after TCW fell to Cult and only signed him to a PPA deal...so I signed a Working Agreement with them and signed Ace to a deal as well. His promos and matches(including a few +90s with Jack and Ricky) has shot his pop in Canada to high 80s-90s...if it wasn't for wanting to run Jack vs. Ricky I'd be tempted to have him end Jack's reign.

Edd Stone His serious push should start to commence soon...I have paired him up currently with Gargantuan as a Bodyguard...But I'm about to start him in a story that should see him fake test results that he's a Bastard son of George..and feud in a more so War of Words with Alex.

I currently have Joey Poison and DWN as my tag champs but they will probably lose very soon in a quick filler feud with Jack and Ricky with the intent in moving Newton into a Main Event Slot. Right now I plan to have them lose to the team of Ian Identity and my UC with Jack and/or Ricky distracting them.

Sayeed is my current Canadian Champion. And will probably just run through people until I can push Greg Gauge or Ernest Youngman high enough to take it off of him.

Other than that I'm trying to build up some other managers...the usual Dharma..Buck and Streetz...and a few who start on the roster. I almost want to recreate A Dungeon of Doom ish stable with Prometheus Blockbluster and the recently signed Scythe...possibly lead by a Heel Drake Young?

Anyway I'm having a lot of fun with this save..the first year has been more a of set up and build to this second...ie Jack vs. Ricky especially. So now with guys getting better and much more over things can be actually put in motion.

TV and PPV Deals still kind of suck and will probably stay that way for sometime.

I actually checked out CGC and started a game with them. Didn't realize how bland a lot of the starting characters felt, a lot of same-y generic gimmicks and what not.

Signed a few of the standard guys. Greg Gauge renamed to Greg Keith. Masked Cougar renamed to Black Cougar (I'm thinking he'll play a Batman-esque character). Kirk Jameson renamed to Clint Ronin, he'll probably play off his Marksman gimmick a lot but with Warren Technique around I don't want him to just be a generic technical wizard. I'm definitely gonna toe the line between cartoonish & sports entertainment here. Still a ton of guys I'll need to come up with something for. Blockbuster's Metal Head shtick might basically make me turn him into Aggretsuko (if you haven't seen the Netflix anime/cartoon, it's basically this character who deals with the shittiness/stress/frustrations of life by doing death metal karaoke).

I think the bolded is fairly true of any Sports Entertainment company, at least to an extent. CGC being a step worse makes sense and could be intentional - this is The DeColt Show and no one gets to outshine them. So fairly basic characters and gimmicks rather fits with that.

Nice to see you giving them a run out. Fun approach with Keith.

Booked a couple of shows on the new save. Signed less talent, most of them just on PPA anyway. No developmental company yet. Had some fun renaming workers. Have Findlay and Bulldozer named to Barrage and Gunner as the Soldiers of Fortune Elite. Used the rename function with the edited name file to create most of the rest. I should probably start cutting a few contracts as the likes of Alan Parent can get gone.

Are you running with any 'gimmicks' for the PPVs?

I had Elimination, went over decent. Got a 68, not the best but eh. Probably going to try and close out most of the starting storylines at Luck of the Draw. Match stipulations will get drawn out of a hat or something.

Not quite sure what I'll do for DeColt WrestleFestival yet. Probably Gargantuan & Jack DeColt's final match and a Jack DeColt vs. Ricky DeColt match once Ricky beats Thrill Seeker in the Best of 7. A ton of the faces that start with the company need some work/something more to them. Ricky will need to step out of Jack's shadow but the heel route is a bit too obvious.

I'm pretty sure Black Stone/Greg Black will helm my Canadian title for a while. He's an auto main event and a defacto #4 face.

Heel wise, Thrill Seeker is pretty much the only guy at the DeColt's/Price/Black level and he's still a step behind all of them. It'll be a work in progress getting the Titans (Prometheus/Bulldozer/Findlay) and Gargantuan up to their level.

Self posted this on the very first page of this thread, which I lifted ideas from:

Elimination - Survivor Series team matches.

Luck of the Draw - Fighters get randomly assigned weapons, often comedy ones.

WrestleFestival - Big outdoor festival season finale. Typically involves another company being invited to participate, but Alex opposes alliances now, so I dunno. Guest stars?

Chaos In The Cage - Cage Matches

In The Company of Legends - Hall of Fame inductions

Ultimate Showdown - End of the Ultimate Showdown Series, which is a two month round robin league.

The Battle Beyond - Bog standard

Last Man Standing - Royal Rumble, but entry order isn't random. It's determined by fan voting (popularity)

Apolcalypse - Bog standard

Survival of the Fittest - Fitness competition angles! Gladiators style. I make it a 'shoot' by using WreSpi stats.

Chamber of Horrors - Big Chamber. More Hell in a Cell than Elimination Chamber

I've stolen a few. Elimination is elimination matches, Survivor Series style. But while I would prefer 5v5 or even 4v4, I went with 3v3 just to spread the popularity out at least a bit.

Luck of the Draw... going back to a gimmick I used in an AWF diary where they had one game-show style segment each TV episode, with a spin wheel to determine the stipulation and another to determine the prize on the line. The idea was to end up with some goofy matches like sumo matches (wearing the big sumo suits), pillow fights, teddy bear matches, and so on. So I'll probably go back to that for this PPV.

Definitely wanna do a tournament but no sure which one will be the finale. Legends, Showdown, Fittest... any of them could work. . Chaos in the Cage might be a War Games style cage match. Last Man Standing will probably be a royal rumble. Honestly, I don't like the WWE method of going gimmick for every non-major PPV as that limits the booking a bit too much.

I went the heel option with Grouch Black. Another talented guy to put on good matches with the DeColt's Price, etc.

Building up the popularity of the top guys isn't that hard, I found. But you do wanna be careful you don't end up with a big gap between the very top guys (the two DeColt's, Price, Gargantuan, even Thrill Seeker) and the next guys. That popularity gap can create booking issues.

Aaron Andrews has left for SWF which is a big blow...but I was lucky to have him anyway. But I had him job to Ross Henry and Ricky before he left.

Characters/gimmicks guys have always been a minor issue for me. Even when I play SWF..it usually morphs into an edgier modern day SE company. The Renders that have been done by the community have been a great help for me to give some guys a bit more character. But for guys like Skip Beau...Alan Parent they have usually just gotten replaced. But I definitely need to try and repackage/rename guys as it should add a bit more to the game...I'm either lazy or forget.

Huge de Aske is always on my shortlist for this reason...especially if I have an older render to go with him...thats full on Pirate.

Still toying with the idea of a Dungeon of Doom and/or Cult Stable idea...was able to sign Scythe and Samael The Accuser...Scythe at least has some more pop and a bit more ready to use.

Turning Ricky may seem obvious but to me Id imagine no DeColt has ever been heel yet in CGC...so it may be a cop out but I like to think it would be something huge in the history of CGC and something they could need to push them over the top and slowly get them away from it strictly being The DeColt Show.

Just to comment on the popularity discussion, I just finished my first 18 months (as mentioned on another topic), and it can be a little tedious to build up your pop in other countries. Unless you create a new broadcasting network, your options are limited in Canada at Cult-early National level. As a result, money can max out.

For a couple months, I attempted to boost my USA popularity by using a lesser Canadian PPV Broadcast that also aired in USA, but I made less money during those two months by a pretty significant margin.

After that, I focused on just getting my Canada popularity high enough to intrigue a broadcasting network that airs in various countries. Just like that, in August 2017, Reverie (subscription) is interested in my tv shows, and I'm transitioning them over. They air everywhere but Australia, which is a big win.

It's interesting to see how a lot of people play CGC similar to what I do. A lot of the same indy names keep popping up. It's just what you have to do I guess, because the CGC roster in January '16 is a complete wasteland.

There is only a handful of roster members from January '16 left in my August '17 game, and I just lost another one. USPW just signed Gargantuan to a massive contract, and I purposely made them bump their offer more and more. His subpar stats have appear to maxed out in this game, and he got flabby so his star quality dropped to 86. Have fun in USPW, buddy!

I signed Wolf Hawkins, and go figure, he got hurt in his last few weeks in TCW. Paying him for 5 months for nothing! But when he comes back, I'm making him my new figurehead in CGC over Jack DeColt. He became a ripped middleweight and his star quality bumped to 98.

I considered making Sammy Bach my figurehead, but then Wolf became available shortly after Sammy. Also, Sammy is 39, eight years older than Wolf.

I'm very reluctant to grab the big American names like Hawkins, Andrews, etc. In a way, I like the idea that Alex DeColt might be too afraid to take the spotlight away from the DeColts as the fixture of the show. If I brought them in, they'd probably have to be super heelish but really the only one I want to bring is Rocky Golden to make him David Starr basically.

I've actually gone a pretty similar route with these PPVs, and am planning to go further now that I'm running two A shows to expand feuds. My Elimination was 6 3v3 (except the opener which was a 3v3v3).

Initially I wanted Luck of the Draw to be a Royal Rumble style event (the name works really well with it), but I also like Last Man Standing as that. Still, Luck of the Draw right before WrestleFestival would make deciding the challenger(s) really easy. I'm in love with WarGames stipulation but I'll probably move that to Apocalypse or something. IRL I don't like the WWE method of gimmick for non-major too but in-game, I actually think it makes coming up with ideas and booking a lot easier xD I'm a pretty structural dude, I find it easier to just fit things into an easy system.

Going heel with Black would've made sense. Only reason I didn't was pretty half-hearted. I needed two faces to team with Alan Parent so the opener 3v3 that was heels vs. heels could become heels vs. heels vs. faces.

I think I'll be pushing the Titans too hard for there to be a popularity gap. I haven't done a long term SE game so we will see how it works out.

Oh, tournament wise I haven't given it too much of a thought. Not sure if Round Robin makes much sense in CGC. I'd like to do the ROH-style SOTF but Chamber of Horrors right after makes it hard.

Having a system isn't a bad thing. And it kinda fits with the "same old DeColt crap" problem that plagues CGC in Cverse canon.

Regarding a tournament.... I kinda like the idea of having CGC do one annually that isn't really recognized much because they always mess it up so much. Pure TNA stuff or WCW in 2000 stuff. Format and rules that don't just change year to year, but are unclear and opaque each year, to the point where stuff seems to be changing on the fly. One of those things that starts with a lot of hype and then just fizzles. Matches happen on house shows with no information to TV viewers, so suddenly it goes from halfway through round 1 to midway through round 2, with no explanation. People are replaced without real explanation. That kind of thing. The canon is that CGC is boring and repetitive, not haphazard and crap, but I just think it would be fun / interesting to have it be something they manage to screw up every single year. Except the years where a DeColt featured, in which case it got due attention.

You will need more than the Titans to cover that popularity gap, though. Those popularity gaps aren't a terrible thing when they happen, but they just make it tough to book. Like if you only have one or two heels with true main event level popularity, it just limits what you can do for feuds that will grade well, etc.

So it looks like third time is a charm for me. I booked through Elimination. Similar approach to the booking, but with being smart with the signings. We are about 100K down but that is almost entirely going to be the signing bonuses we had to hand out for the few written deals that were signed. Took a pretty big contract to keep Ricky in house. Right now, I'm running the B show (named Ambition) and the weekly tour show. But if the finances can handle it, I will probably drop the tour show. To be honest, the shows are a bit easier to book as with less written deals, I'm not as concerned with making sure those folks get on the main TV show and the tour show (since its an event) to keep them happy. I haven't tried to be cautious on minimizing how many PPA workers I use or anything, but I'm really not looking to penny pinch.

I like to know every segment on the way to a PPV so I can book pretty quickly so I spent a lot of time on that. I've got all 4 shows booked. But I'm also booking from main event to opener which means that the first two matches are pretty much just one segment build-ups on the last show and some guys are pretty much not featured at all on the way to the PPV. I feel like I'll have no choice but to do a B-show since some of the newer guys like Masked Cougar, and Kirk Jameson pretty much get zero screen time. It's still very much the DeColt show and besides that the Titans, Black, Blockbuster, the Whippy The Clown stable, and the Antonio Del Veccio stable have more going on. I'm reluctant to do a B-show but I also hate having guys doing nothing.

I'm up 45K post-PPV. Really didn't make a lot of signings. I brought in Peter Michaels though because why not.

I'm not crazy about Alan Parent but since I've pretty much turned to movies for nearly all my gimmicks with CGC, I've combined Parent's obsession with Hooded Kudo with Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai, and that's now Parent. Except he's a heel because everyone finds him annoying.

Donte Dunn will be getting a render change and until I have something better for him, he's basically John Wick and Hailey Hunter is the 'dog' (that sounds terrible lmfao). Heels will be creeps around Hailey Hunter and he'll basically rampage till he gets his revenge. No one ever learns their lesson.

Christian Price is now the Star Lord to Jack DeColt's Captain America. He's a face but he's prone to not following the rules and doing his own thing, especially since he's tired of the DeColt shadow.

Ricky is very much on his way to being SES Punk but I haven't 100% settled on it. Right now he's just Jack DeColt's little brother. He still hasn't broken out of Jack's shadow, especially considering both his world title losses ended with Jack DeColt beating the heel that beat him. Also Ricky is the only one not to have won a tag team title with his brothers. He's the odd one out for sure.

Ozzie Golden is basically if King Midas and Tom Hiddleston's Loki had a baby. Everything he touches turns to gold, or at least he wishes it did. He cheats his way through everything, and its pretty much compulsive to him.

Zeus Maximillion is basically Thor.

Dan DaLay is Minoru Suzuki. When he's not gatekeeping, he's bullying everyone.

Still a ton of bland babyfaces like Shane Nelson, Bobby Thomas, Skip Beau, Drake Young, etc. that will need something.

Yeah, boring and repetitive doesn't work for CGC when every AI company in the world spams the same matches.

Sounds like real life.

And 2016 was just a straight tournament.

If I was writing a diary around this and not really concerned with putting on stories I'm into, I'd have to inevitably go gung-ho with everyone is bland besides DeColts and the guys they have to beat, and Alex is a psycho. There'd have to be an eventual point where either Alex gets a change of heart or Jack/Ricky/Steve (one of them) takes over, or they get bought out by NOTBPW, or someone left field like DaLay or whoever comes in and takes over. But idk how much I'd be invested in that. So for now, Alex DeColt hired Dan DaLay who is actually a huge entertainment nerd and gives everyone gimmicks from the latest movie he's watched or comic book he's read.

Maybe it is my WCW love shining through. But the canon issues for CGC are that the booking is formula, bland, repetitive. Not actually poor or wrestle-crap or anything else. So I just like the thought of one thing being constantly booked poorly. And that it, ironically, generally does not include the DeColt's. Almost as if its done intentionally, so when talent complains about the DeColt lord-dom over the company, Alex can point to the tournament and say "this is what happens with no DeColt's".

Although I didn't go as far as Star Lord characterization, its actually not that far from what I'm doing with Price. Basically, he's got an edge that the DeColt's lack. Not sure which direction that leads - maybe he "influences" Ricky to be an evolved DeColt. Maybe that causes a heel turn for Jack down the road. Any number of possibilities.

Wouldn't he want to take both of them out? I hope he turns his back on Ricky as soon as they've dealt with Jack .-.

Well, their alliance is pretty much an "enemy of my enemy" type situation, or at least that's the type of approach I've attempted. Price believes the DeColt family has hindered his career, that they've refused to give him opportunities because his last name is different.

Meanwhile, Ricky is tired of being in Jack's (and Alex's) shadow. Ricky's heel turn wasn't abrupt and out of nowhere, months of issues between Jack & Ricky finally led to a boiling point, where in which it seemed (to Ricky) that Alex always took Jack's side. Ricky has convinced himself that Alex & Jack can't stand the idea of Ricky actually becoming the best, most popular wrestler in the family.

Ricky & Christian are by no means friends, strictly business partners with the same(?) goal. And you're right, it's an alliance that is clearly not meant to last. Their egos and bitterness won't allow it.
