I never played CGC in previous iterations...but I just started a new game as new head booker Peter Michaels.

I am curious how others book the DeColt WrestleFesitval. Do you have some sort of 2-day tourny? Do you create an event night 1 that the winner gets a title shot on night 2?

I can't seem to wrap my head around how you promote 2 night's of Pay Per View back to back. It would seem to me that everything would get blown off night 1 leaving nothing for night 2 or any thing that happens on night 1 that would create a match on night 2 wouldn't leave any time for promotion....

I think it being in March/April and it being the flagship event hurts you a little in planning for that first year, for starters. I know when I played them in 2013, I felt a lot better about my second WrestleFestival because I had more long-term stories ready to resolve.

That said, you can pretty much do whatever you want. You have a few starting storylines you can end on either night if you want. You can do a contender's match on Day 1 and have the title match on Day 2. And you can always have guys cut promos on Day 2 for stuff that night.

He's a Canadian who had his most success in a goofy SWF tag team, so there are a few ways you can write his character -- revive the Groucho persona or something like it, cast him as the self-important veteran he's playing in PSW, etc. He's not young, but at 35, he's not going to start declining for a long time.

Moreover, he has logical tag teams with two other valuable and available workers. He's been teaming up with Grandmaster Phunk in PSW, and he's close friends with Art Reed. Phunk is strong on the mic and okay in the ring. Reed is no great talker, but an excellent all-rounder with elite star quality. (He's also an excellent locker room guy.) Both of them have some overness in Canada -- Phunk around 40, Reed around 30. They're definitely going to play as Greg's sidekicks rather than the opposite, and both are older, so decline is a threat, but either one can be a midcarder soon enough, and both are valuable additions to your roster in their own right.

In my current CGC game, I signed up all three as a stable, and played up the angle of Black and Reed as old friends who trained together, went off into the world, and learned different styles of wrestling, from American sports entertainment to hardcore to (in Reed's case) puroresu. Now they're teaming up with all that experience under their belts. Phunk doubles as their manager, using his mic skills to cover for their relative mediocrity in that area, and his presence also allows them to compete in 3v3 matches.

(I think of trios matches as a fairly big theme in CGC -- between the Elimination PPV, the long-time rivalry between the DeColts and Elite, etc. Having at least a few established alliances with 3 in-ring workers, whether they're stables or just kind of occasional associations, makes it easier to book those kinds of storylines, and that's especially important with Elite gone and only two DeColts still present/active in the ring.)

I've taken a slightly different course of action with the tag division than I've seen currently posted. I did bring in American Demolition(Findlay/Bulldozer) to pretty much take over the current division. While building them up I had The Dirty White Boys take the straps so they get their last run. I also teamed up Alan Parent and Skip Beau as a couple of nerds and have them managed by Sweet Tabitha(now just Tabitha) and call them Weird Science. Other moves have me picking up Garry The Entertainer, teamed him with Drake Young as Funny = Money, and Larry Wood, teamed him with Brett Fraser as The Last Real Men. Garry and Drake have helped me keep The Predators and Montreal Mafia over and I had The Last Real Men cost DWB in there feud with American Demolition. Not exactly the road most traveled but actually has been pretty fun.

I just started a CGC game because I wanted to do an established Canadian Fed, but NOTBPW's product is... not for me. First, fixed the backstage rules (yikes!), and I also upped the match/angle ratio for events to 80%, as you don't have enough guys who are capable of carrying angles, so each one would look like "Freestyle Angle starring ____ DeColt".

I also tried to get Alex to allow me to start a Women's Division but he is currently against it.

I got around this by playing as Alex. I mean, they have a Women's Title picture to use, why not? The issue is that while there are a lot of Women wrestler's who can work in Canada, most are not terribly over, at least the ones you can hire right at the start. I went with Steffi Chee, Tamara McFly, April Appleseed, Emma Bitch, Jana Marie Bowen, and Eve Grunge, as they're the most over (not counting Cherry Bomb, at least not on a written; don't think I've ever tried signing her to PPA). Might hire Selina Svelte, as AAA playthroughs have taught me that Steffi will take her as a protege, and NOTBPW just cut Lauren Easter. This is one of the few times were I'm running a country that features women wrestlers and I don't have a crisis about whether or not to hire them. "Yes, they're very skilled, but because NOTBPW has practically zero U.S. (or Mexico, when I run CILL or OLLIE) exposure, I'll basically be paying a heckuva lot for someone who's going to job for her first six months." Won't have THAT particular problem with CGC. Also shortlisted Zoe Ammis, because hey, DeColt trainee. It just fits.

Anyway, the Women's Division should improve, as experience tells me that NOTBPW and USPW will be cutting more talent soon.

Backstage has improved dramatically; Thrill Seeker has adopted Chucky Dorrance as a protege, and Joey Poison has likewise taken Intrepid Ian Identity under his wing. There's some tension between Gargantuan and Ricky thanks to a botched move from the latter. Haven't been able to fix that yet, but we're only in February Week 2.

The tag team division isn't great, but I've also seen much worse (USPW, looking at you!).

Started a CGC game (which I’ve never done) solely to check something and delete but after doing so I decided to check out the nbts and saw Prometheus was #1 on the list! I’m now tempted to play this game out and see how far he can go! I have to imagine that this would be a huge relief for the DeColts to have an attraction like that get over as a mega star

Started a new CGC....they've always been a company that I'm sad I haven't had a longer save with but...I have an idea of trying to turn Ricky Heel on Jack in a long story..almost akin to Bret and Owen....and floating the idea of teaming Ricky up with Gargantuan or some other Big Monster.

Tag division needs a re-hauling but if I keep only a few people on PPAs for now, I should be able to bring in some teams and create some new from those on the roster. I currently have American Demolition...McWades and The Fighting Irish on my short list...along with Greg Black/Phunk/Reed....But I'm also thinking about teaming up my UC and Ian Identity and making them DeColts.

But I'm struggling to come up with anything for the Canadian Title Scene and may just keep feeding Blockbuster guys to hope he improves and gets better

Thinking about trying a game with CGC for the first time ever. Their scene looks aging and ripe for innovation. Can someone talk to me about how their finances look? I used to do this in older TEWs, where I'd run a weekly live event with USPW that would filter in younger stars and filter out older stars before they ever got to television. The live event would run in USPW's best spots like the Southeast and usually have the USPW National Championship headline.

If I do that here, will the company not be able to take the strain on expenditures?

In my current new game just at the start of April...I've lost probably $500,000...but I did plan on that while signing a few new guys and a few older guys to short term PPAs. Not to mention I booked everyone for Day 1 of the DWF.

But on the flip side guys are getting extremely over...Jack DeColt is approaching 90s in Canada.

They start with 5 million so you got ample room to play with and it's very easy to gain popularity...relying heavily on the DeColts.

So back to the Cverse and was intending to the do an SWF save. Somehow I ended up in CGC. Only a couple of weeks in and debating whether I should start over. Having a "test save" is pretty common for me. Helps get a handle on who to sign, who to push, etc. And its the signings that I went overboard on and now I'm mulling who I should have signed.

Started out by giving Written deals to about half of the starting roster. Had to battle to keep Ricky as he got offers from NOTBPW, TCW, USPW, and the SWF - haven't seen them before. I added a B show and opened a developmental company. Had the idea of starting a cruiser division so a few signings were with that in mind. The roster isn't massively bloated but its bigger than I would like. I signed a lot of talent with decent to good in ring skills and Star Quality, but lacking in popularity. Pretty much of all of them to Written deals. Plus the developmental talent. Now I'm debating whether I should have just done the developmental company, gone a bit lighter on signings, and held off on the B show. Make it a bit easier to make money at first.

Problem is (as it always is for me) that I can find a "reason" to hire almost anyone. And since I haven't done much in the Cverse for awhile, I don't have the "oh, I've used him in a save recently" dynamic either. the signings:

Air Attack Weasel - always sign him and put him under a mask. His selling makes him gold as a jobber

Bob Casey - pretty much the same, but on a PPA due to his age

Bulldozer Brandon Smith - with Findlay as a powerhouse team. The new New Soldiers of Fortune, perhaps

Davis Wayne Newton - pretty obvious

Eric Tyler - expensive. Was intending to have him manager Greg Black, and maybe the Newton/Gauge/Yougman trio

Ernest Youngman - an always hire

Findlay O'Farrady - see BBS

Frankie Perez - wouldn't have signed him but a good cruiserweight

Greg Black - intent is to have him come in as a bitter veteran big league star gimmick. has the popularity to be an immediate main eventer. Some easy storylines.

Greg Gauge - obvious

Kirk Jameson - kinda figured USPW would grab him first but once I got him.... I totally didn't know what to do with him. Good work with great SQ.... but...

Larry Woods - PPA deal, entirely to tag in dark matches with Gargantuan, Prometheus and Blockbuster to help them develop. Game suggested the name Stomp Stormcrow so yeah....

Masked Cougar - another CW hire. White version of his mask and he's now Snow Cougar.

Mr. Lucha III - intended to be a CW hire, but he's a MW. Couldn't help myself.

Sayeed Ali - another monster heel but a good character too

The developmental guys concern me less. Stole some ACPW talent and added a few US based tag teams.

Gotta decide if I wanna start over and trim a few of those hires. Maybe hold off on the B show and cruiser division for a bit....

Hopefully you can sneak in Steve DeColt before he retires as well.

You'd think Alex DeColt being crazy toxic would have rendered CGC's backstage a hellscape, but I guess he hasn't contaminated enough people.

And Self (I think) definitely helped my appreciation of CGC with his thread. But I've also always fancied Gargantuan & Prometheus since '13.

Whenever I do a bigger territory BP, I usually have a dark weekly live event where I build up popularity for my new recruits before I "introduce them" on television. It helps though that I cut television time to an hour or an hour and a half, because then I can use that as a mini-highlight real with some main eventers versus some workhorse jobbers, ala an early WWF Raw style.

For CGC, maybe use that to push down some of the older veterans and push up your new guys, and pass over some performance skills and the like. You talked about Stampede house shows, so think of it like that where they'd send guys way up north into Alberta and Sasketchewan on a skeleton crew with a couple of top stars.
