</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The ring is set up with a table and contracts, as Arn Anderson introduces the WCW World Heavyweight Champion and his Top Contender for Starrcade. Giant stares Booker down with a confident glare, saying nothing, until Booker T cuts a fiery promo on his opponent: “You’re big, you’re bad — I know that, dog. But you’re a cocky son of a bitch too, and you’re going to choke, like you almost did with Kanyon. Now can you dig that, sucka?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Giant rolls his eyes and simply reaches over the table with his huge hands, grabbing and throttling Booker, before throwing him from side to side like a ragdoll. As Arn flees the ring, Booker struggles in the Giant’s chokehold. But with ease Giant lifts him high and plants the champion through the table! He leans down amongst the wreckage, grabs the contract and a pen, then signs his name on the dotted line and throws it down on Booker’s prone body. He strides off to the back, his point made.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The Jung Dragons are celebrating their victory when the Radicalz leap the guard-rail and sneak into the ring, assailing the Trios Champions! Malenko and Saturn annihilate Hayashi with Total Elimination, before Chavo and Eddy take out Yang and Tajiri with double Gory Bombs! The Radicalz’ intent becomes clear whenever Eddy Guerrero grabs one of the WCW Trios Championship belts, shining it up and peering at his reflection in it. “That’s a pretty title, esse.” Mike Tenay notes that Eddy shouldn’t get overconfident — he still has to defend the WCW United States Championship in tonight’s main-event!</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Billy Kidman is in the ring pacing back and forth as Shannon Moore’s 3 Count theme plays but his opponent for tonight is not forthcoming. The music stops as James Mitchell comes out on the ramp, and warns Kidman: “This is not the man you’ve faced before, Billy. Full of frustration and rejection… I harnessed that emotion, I’ve unleashed his aggression. Meet the newest member of my Family… Kid Vicious!” The man once known as Shannon Moore emerges to a generic metal theme, now sporting a spiky mohawk, a couple of new tattoos and an attitude completely different from the boy-band member we knew.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He nails the champion with a hurricanrana then bends down and licks Kidman’s face with a pierced tongue, drawing the gasps of the crowd. A disgusted Kidman begins to rally as the audience cheer him on, building momentum with a succession of arm-drags before hitting Vicious with the Kid Krusher! How ironic. Kidman goes up top for the Shooting Star Express to add an exclamation point, but is pushed off by Christopher Daniels, who must have been hiding beneath the ring!</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He sics the big men on the Cruiserweight champion, and they deliver a huge double military-press to Kidman! Clark begins to feel the adrenaline and escapes the hold to tag in Adams, who clears house on both men. The action spills outside with all four men brawling — as KroniK beat Team Canada down to a pulp, they don’t notice the referee’s count of ten! </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Report:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Mike Tenay notes that Guerrero’s three contenders performed well in the Top Contender’s Tournament, and have been rewarded with this opportunity. “What about… err, Norman Smiley?” Heenan asks, as Tenay balks at the notion. The four are evenly-pitted in the opening stretch, but Morrus gains an advantage as he clotheslines all three of his opponents to the outside and screams: “M… I… A!” The crowd go mild.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As Raven and Kanyon begin to brawl outside, Guerrero slinks back into the ring and tries to steal a win with a series of cradles on Morrus. He locks in a tight small package, which is only broken up when Kanyon rushes in for the save! Raven rolls back into the ring and tries to blindside Kanyon, but he dodges and instead takes out Guerrero! Morrus gives Raven a stiff spinebuster, but turns around into a Flatliner! Kanyon hooks the leg and scores the fall to win the title!</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The crowd are going nuts as Kanyon celebrates with the WCW United States Championship, as Tenay notes: “Nobody fought harder in the Top Contender Tournament than Kanyon — he deserves this win, he deserves this moment.” Guerrero is on the outside almost in tears of rage as he shakes his head and walks to the back. "That is surely what Eddy gets for taking his eye of the US title and focusing on the Trios titles earlier tonight! It's clear he wasn't focused," Tenay adds.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Kanyon raises his title high as the commentators sign off for the night — but is blasted from behind by a heel kick from Rob Van Dam! “What the hell?! That stuck-up, preening bast— forgive my language!” Tenay exclaims. RVD begins grinning wickedly as he ruins Kanyon’s fun, putting the boots to him and then dropping the United States Championship on his chest.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

One has to wonder what the locker-room atmosphere is like backstage, and how prevalent drug use may be becoming. WCW management is attempting to show that they won’t tolerate this, by threatening mandatory rehab and suspensions for anyone else who fails a drug test, under any circumstances.</div><br /></li><li><div style="margin-left:25px;"> WCW is said to be in talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling and Asistencia Asesoría y Administración regarding a new concept for January. WCW used to maintain lucrative working agreements with both NJPW and AAA which involved talent trades and joint shows, but these relationships were allowed to deteriorate over the years.</div><br /></li><li><div style="margin-left:25px;"> This can’t be a coincidence given the last news item, but WCW is due to tour both Japan and Mexico in the fortnight following Starrcade, including television tapings. Local stars from both regions will no doubt help drive ticket sales, given that in many markets, WCW is still viewed as second-rate compared to the WWF. For those asking about possible tours in the UK, Europe and Australia, nothing has been announced thus far.</div><br /></li><li><div style="margin-left:25px;"> We’re being told that the big former WCW star due to wrestle at Starrcade will return to television as soon as next week’s WCW Saturday Night, to allow ample build for the match.</div><br /></li><li><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Tragic news on the developmental front: Russ Haas of the Haas Brothers tag-team in HWA has suffered a second heart-attack and passed away. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Report:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Eddy, Saturn and Malenko are at ringside in Chavo’s corner, while Yang and Tajiri are out in support of Hayashi. Kaz dominates early with dropkicks, headscissors and arm-drags, but as Eddy distracts Nick Patrick by jumping onto the apron, Chavo takes over with a low-blow. Tajiri and Yang get in the face of the Radicalz, and a brawl breaks out at ringside — with the referee’s attention elsewhere again, Chavo hits Hayashi with multiple additional low-blows, aiming to reduce his groin to dust and debris. Kaz is simply too wracked with pain to resist going up for the Gory Bomb, as the referee returns his focus to the match long enough to count three.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Tajiri and Yang finally fall victim to the numbers-game outside and are beaten down by Malenko, Saturn and Eddy. The Radicalz stand tall yet again, the champions seemingly outnumbered and outmatched.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> We go backstage, where Television Champion Steve Corino and Crowbar are in the middle of a heated argument. “I want -one- more shot, just one more,” Crowbar demands, before Corino blows him off: “You fought me last week for the title, you lost. I’ve got Saturn tonight — you’ll have to get back in line. I thought we were partners anyway — friends!” Crowbar stares a hole in Corino, then storms out of the locker-room without a word.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> We see a training montage of Giant preparing for his Starrcade main-event against Booker T. A ring has been set up in a spacious warehouse, and we see him tossing around nameless ham and eggers for sport — even taking on six at once! His voiceover promises: “I’m unbeatable, I’m unbreakable. I’m the irresistible force -and- the immovable object. I am the Giant, and at Starrcade, I take what’s mine at long last — the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Insider fans might notice that the jobbers in the ring with Giant include developmental talents, such as an unmasked Dean Roll (Shark Boy), Chad Collyer, Rico Constantino, Lance Cade, BJ Whitmer and Chris Harris.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Report:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Corino looks a bit distracted in the early stages of the match, and Mike Tenay wonders whether the argument with tag-partner Crowbar is affecting his focus. Saturn begins wearing down the Television Champion with abdominal stretches and backbreakers, clearly priming him for the Rings of Saturn. Corino is able to mount a comeback as the fans cheer him on however, and nails the Old School Expulsion. 1… 2… Charles Robinson is dragged from the ring and knocked out cold by Crowbar!</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Corino looks shocked at this seeming act of betrayal, getting into a pushing contest with Crowbar on the outside. Crowbar snaps and hits Corino with the Mindbender, before rolling him back into the ring and throwing the referee in for good measure. Saturn hits the Three-Handled Moss-Covered Family Gradunza as Robinson revives and counts three! Crowbar simply walks to the back, as Mike Tenay wonders what’s come over him so suddenly.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Description:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Lance Storm and Mike Awesome are in the centre of the ring, as Storm waves a clipboard around and begins to lecture the audience. “If I can be serious for a minute, last week on Saturday Night, the WCW World Tag Team Champions KroniK did not -beat- us, indeed they cannot beat us. The record book shows a draw, and we deserve restitution. I spoke to Mr. Arn Anderson earlier about securing a fair rematch at Starrcade, but he informed me that the Natural Born Thrillers are already booked to face KroniK. This is a travesty of justice, and I am lodging a formal protest against Mr. Anderson’s lack of fairness and blatant anti-Canadian bias.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He holds the clipboard high, continuing: “Which is why I have drafted a petition demanding our rightful match against KroniK. If I secure enough signatures, not even Mr. Anderson can—“ The camera cuts backstage mid-speech to a long black limousine, as Mike Tenay wonders: “Rumours have been circulating for weeks that a huge former WCW star was due to make a return for Starrcade. Is this— it is!” The door opens and none other than Ric Flair steps out, the crowd erupting in excitement. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He lets out a trademark “WOOOO!” as he begins strutting his way backstage, then makes his way to the ring. Team Canada are still there, petition in hand — Storm in particular looking furious. Flair grabs a microphone and advises: “You’ve spoke long enough, son. Your time is up, now the Nature Boy has something to say!” Team Canada begin trudging backstage angrily, as Flair basks in the audience’s cheers, who give him a hero’s reception. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You’re probably wondering why I’m here — maybe you’re even wondering why I wasn’t back sooner. Just know that it wouldn’t be Starrcade without that limousine-ridin’, jet-flyin’, kiss-stealin’, wheelin’-dealin’ son of a gun… the dirtiest player in the game, -the Man-! I’m talking’ about the Nature Boy Ric Flair! Wooo! I’m back, baby — and God, it feels good. Wooo!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

YEAH.” O’Haire tags in and begins decimating the whole of the opposing team, as Palumbo watches on from the apron. Kidman tags in next and begins nailing Daniels with hurricanranas before setting up for the Kid Krusher — Daniels wriggles out and cradles Kidman for the win! Crowbar comes striding out to ringside with Daffney, as Tenay wonders what he’s doing here of all places. He gets in James Mitchell’s face and stares him down, before giving him a huge hug, as Mitchell pats his back in a fatherly manner. Daffney jumps up and down in excitement. At Starrcade, Giant can lay the biggest whoopin’ he wants on Booker T. It doesn’t matter — I can take an ass-kicking, but I can also give one. You know that saying: the bigger they are, the harder they fall? Giant, you’re going to fall hard at Starrcade when I knock you on that oversized ass, sucka.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Face it Tenay, this guy’s washed up.” Tenay disagrees, and is vindicated as Page begins to rally and hit RVD with the discus clothesline and gutwrench powerbomb. Van Dam rolls outside to buy some time, but DDP takes the fight to him. Page throws RVD into the guardrail, but is suddenly blindsided as Raven comes from the crowd and hits him hard with a steel chair! Raven signals for the Evenflow DDT on the chair, but is forced to flee as WCW United States Champion Kanyon rushes to ringside to help his friend DDP. He corners Van Dam, who tries to shrug and beg off, but Kanyon begins rocking him with lefts and rights! Due to the temperamental nature of internet pay-per-view, WCW’s division to do this is highly questionable — the WWF’s attempts to host their PPVs on their website has been fraught with problems, and cost them dearly with refunds after the No Mercy 2001 webcast failed.</div><br /></li><li><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The pre-show is largely going to be a single long match — a Royal Rumble-style gauntlet battle-royal featuring everybody left off the main card. Saturn is caught by Tajiri’s stiff, spectacular offense, eating a handspring elbow and getting caught in the ropes with a painful-looking Tarantula. The Radicalz pace back and forth restlessly as they encourage Saturn, who is able to lock in the Rings of Saturn. Tajiri tries crawling on his belly towards the ropes, but he can barely move and as Saturn cranks the hold in deeper, he’s forced to submit.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hayashi and Yang hit the ring to break the hold, but are caught by Eddy, Chavo and Malenko who slide in too. Both sides brawl until the Radicalz take a spill to the outside with clotheslines, and Saturn is forced to break the hold, getting stomped on but just managing to slither out of the ring and grab the Television title as he flees to the back. The Jung Dragons stand tall tonight, but Tajiri is holding his ribs weakly.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Because at Starrcade, it’ll be all over — the Fallen Angel will rise.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Family walk off, leaving just Crowbar and Daffney alone, who address the camera. “Ooh Stevie, no hard feelings, hmm?” Daffney shrieks, before Crowbar grunts: “I got nowhere teaming with you, I wasted months — and for what? The Father James Mitchell is going to lead me to the promised land, and you, Steve Corino? You wouldn’t give me another shot at your precious Television title, so I made sure you lost it to -someone-. Corino and Crowbar start the match with a staredown, and both begin offloading on each other with punches — these former partners now turned rivals. Corino gets the advantage, and Crowbar retreats to tag in Daniels — the fresh Fallen Angel begins to dissect the Television champion with chin-locks and snapmares. Kidman is going nuts on the apron as he begs for a hot tag, the crowd clapping in time to show their support — Corino gets to him just in time and Kidman runs wild, taking out both Daniels and Crowbar. He goes up top for the Shooting Star Press on Daniels, who manages to get the knees up just in time. Kidman staggers back holding his chest, and falls prey to the Angel’s Wings. Storm grits his teeth and asks begrudgingly: “If I can be serious for a minute, would you like to sign the petition granting Team Canada their rightful—“ Flair interrupts by woooing right in Storm’s face, and asking: “Do you think I won twenty-one World Championships by wandering around the back begging people to sign petitions?” Storm begins to reply, but Flair interjects: “NO!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I went out there, sixty minutes every night, and bled, sweat and cried in a twenty-by-twenty ring, baby. Partied every night, kissed the girls and made ‘em cry! Because to be the man, you gotta beat the man — and I -am- the man, brother! WOOO!” Storm holds back a scowl and asks Ric deadpan: “So you won’t sign the petition?” Flair just laughs and struts off.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Report:</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Stacy Keibler is at ringside, and she manages to distract Norman Smiley by stretching her lengthy legs and winking suggestively — the wide-eyed Smiley is blindsided by Orton, who begins wearing him down. Smiley eventually escapes from a headlock to tag in DDP, who runs wild and takes out all three of his opponents. Page then tags Kanyon, who continues the beating and tosses Stasiak to the outside.
