Booker T © vs Sting vs <strong>Scott Steiner</strong></p><p>

<em>While I think it’s highly probable that Booker retains here, there are more contenders ready to line up against a heel Champion in Scott Steiner, including the “mystery attacker” (*coughGoldbergcough*) to see Scotty regain the gold, and while I know Booker has only just won the title, and I’m not a fan of short World Title reigns, WCW certainly were, and both the Champion and Sting will have already wrestled once, meaning Booker doesn’t look so weak losing to the fresh Scott Steiner</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I’m really just covering my bases here, because in the event that I’m wrong, and Booker retains the Big Gold Belt, I don’t see you ditching the US Title.</em></p><p> </p><p>

My take - Booker needs to drop a title and Sting is a better option at Champ at this point. Team Canada are better workers and a better short term option as champs, Mysterio is potentially the best Cruiser option long term, The Cat is largely useless so Kanyon going over is a no brainer especially since Kanyon has a big upside if he can ever get traction, Stasiak could be something long term and needs to go over here since Bam Bam isn't likely to be a long term investment and Flair needs his ego massaged so that's a no brainer.</p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>Tony Schiavone:</strong> Welcome to WCW The Big Bang, the first PPV of the new Era of WCW and the first ever WCW PPV titled Big Bang. Tonight is going to be an action packed night as we have a full card lined up for you tonight.</p><p>

<strong>Mike Tenay:</strong> That's right Tony, tonight we have the fate of the WCW World and United Stated titles on the line. Will we see the Unification of both titles or will we see a new champion crowned.</p><p>

<strong>Tony Schiavone:</strong> Don't forget we also have the 1 on one match between two legendary champions in out business, the Son of a Plumber Dusty Rhodes and the current WCW President and 16 time World Champion, Ric Flair. Plus earlier tonight, Flair told Dustin to stay away from the ring if he wants to keep his job.</p><p>

<strong>Bobby Heenan:</strong> I've been around longer than both those guys and ive watch them feud for the last 20 years, no matter how many times you see them face off, the hatred they have just grows. They never fail to disappoint. Its just a shame Dustin wont get to see the match up close.</p><p>

<strong>Mike Tenay:</strong> Lets not forget about the WCW Tag Team championships that are on the line tonight. After both of the Champions taking losses in the past 2 weeks in singles competition, they now have to defend their titles against the two men, the two Canadians who have had their numbers.</p><p>

<strong>Tony Schiavone:</strong> But that's not all, our final Championship match tonight is for the Cruiserweight Championship, which is being defended in a fatal 4 way. This means Shane Helms can lose the title tonight without even being involved in the finish.</p><p>

<strong>Mike Tenay:</strong> After last week's attack by Chavo Guerrero, this match has a lot more on the line that just the title, for Billy Kidman. For Kidman this match comes with the added bonus of getting revenge on Guerrero.</p><p>

<strong>Tony Schiavone:</strong> Well i guess it's time we get to our first match of the evening, for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship.</p><p>

<strong>WCW United States Heavyweight Championship</strong></p><p>

<strong> Booker T © vs Sting</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After beating Ric Flair on the last TNT Nitro, Sting was gifted a shot at the WCW US Championship, bringing us to tonight. The match opened the show strong, giving the fans a spectacle of wrestling for almost 15 minutes. Selling the story of both being the Company's baby-faces, they both stayed within the rules at all times. The match comes to an end after two Scorpion Death Drops to the US/World Champ prove too much and allow Sting to pick up the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong> Kanyon vs M.I. Smooth</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Kanyon first makes his way to the ring and awaits either Ernest Miller or M.I. Smooth. Both men then appear on the stage, but it is Smooth who makes his way to the ring to battle Kanyon in a loser leaves WCW Match. In a match carried by Kanyon, the crowd is heavily behind the former Limo Driver come Wrestler. Smooth uses his power to overcome a lot of the offense from Kanyon, but it's the experience and quick thinking that proves the superior skill in the match as Kanyon gets the pinfall after hitting a Northern Lights Suplex</p><p> </p><p>

Backstage Gene Okerlund is seen catching up with the Former US Champion Booker T. Gene asks how he feels after losing the Title and what are his plans to hold onto the WCW Heavyweight Championship later tonight. Booker says he took a beating from Sting and he cant make excuses, he lost and he has to recuperate from the loss and plan his next line of attack. Booker tells Gene that he’s had the scouting experience of Sting tonight, so later their match will already have an advantage going his way. He says that he just has to contend with the fresh Scott Steiner who has the unfair advantage of not having competed yet tonight.</p><p> </p><p>

Both teams put on a good performance and O’Haire becomes the standout in the match, getting the crowd heated up for more. <strong>WCW Cruiserweight Championship</strong></p><p>

<strong> Shane Helms © vs Chavo Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio Jr vs Billy Kidman</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This match gets off to a great start when Kidman launches himself at Chavo, taking him to the outside and brawling with him on the ramp. This allows Helms and Mysterio to kick off the match. It's not long before Kidman and Chavo are battling backstage, leaving the match behind, the crowd is then watching two segments play out, one in the ring and one on the tron. Backstage Kidman is beating down Chavo until Chavo manages to push Kidman out of a fire escape door and lock him out of the Arena. Back in the ring Mysterio and Helms are still fighting it out as Chavo makes his way back to the ring. Quickly beating down on the both men, Chavo starts taunting and turns his back on both men. Mysterio then makes his way to his feet and rolls up Chavo for a 3 count. Chavo is left furious as Mysterio celebrates his win up the ramp with his new title, marking his 7th reign with the Cruiserweight Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bam Bam Bigelow vs Shawn Stasiak</strong></p><p> </p><p>

In a long fought out match, in a feud stretching months. With one point having a match with a Tattoo on the line, Stasiak and Bigelow once again face off, one on one. In the match it is Stacy Keibler who gets the biggest crowd reaction. After interfering multiple times, she is sent to the back to allow the match to continue. With that, Bigelow has no trouble in overcoming the offence of Stasiak, now Stacy isn't there to distract him. This allows Bigelow to hit his finisher to end the match.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ric Flair vs Dusty Rhodes</strong></p><p> </p><p>

In a slow paced but high energy match, the rusty Dusty takes it to Flair. From the beginning it's obvious that Dusty isn't battling fairly, as the members of Magnificent 7 are playing games with his concentration. Despite this Dust is able to hold on for over 12 minutes, only giving up to the Figure 4 after Scott Steiner distracts the referee while Jarrett takes out the knees of Dusty with his guitar. With Dustin told he is banned from ringside, nothing can be done and Dusty is forced to tap.</p><p> </p><p>

The Music hits and outcomes Diamond Dallas Page, after not being on WCW TV for over 2 months, DDP says he is back to make an impact. He says he is back to show the old guys and the new guys that he is the Diamond in a lot of rough and that he will bring WCW kicking and fighting to the door of Monday Night Raw is War. With that, the music of Road Warrior Animal hits, and he makes his way down the ramp. Animal tells DDP to get at the back of the line, he hasn't been around for awhile and he can't come back and expect to be on top. He says the Magnificent 7 have put people in their place and now everyone knows where they stand, he can't come along and promise what he can't deliver. DDP cuts off Animal and says if he need to prove himself, get a referee out here now and he will show him that he hasn't lost a beat. Animal accepts, saying “It will be a pleasure to personally put you to the back of the line”. Both men then wait for the referee to make his way to the ring</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Diamond Dallas Page vs Road Warrior Animal</strong></p><p> </p><p>

As the bell sounds, both men start throwing fists at each other, with Animal coming out on top to begin with. After a beat down on DDP for around a minute, the crowd gets heavily behind DDP and wills him back from the edge. DDP then mounts a strong offense and finishes it all off with not one, but two Diamond Cutters.</p><p>

<strong>WCW World Heavyweight Championship</strong></p><p>

<strong> Booker T © vs Sting vs Scott Steiner</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Starting off tonight's main event, a fresh Scott Steiner makes his way to the ring, followed by a beaten up Booker T and Sting. In a match that has been called the best of the modern WCW, all three men put on a great show. Once again it is Steiner who puts in the best performance, getting the crowd to boo him with every strike, slam or glance at the crowd. Both Sting and Booker get some great offence, but the earlier match took it out of them, and they show signs of fatigue throughout. This plays well into the hands of Steiner, who takes advantage at every stage. At the end of the match, Sting hits booker with another Scorpion Death Drop, however Steiner Attacks Sting from behind and throws him out of the ring before he could make the pinfall. Steiner then locks in the Recliner and locks it in tight, forcing Booker T to tap out and lose both of his titles in one night.</p><p> </p><p>

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Sting © vs Booker T

I don’t see Sting having a one day reign, likewise, I don’t see Booker losing again without looking like a total jobber after getting pinned clean by Sting last night AND tapping out to Steiner.....maybe the new number one contender causes the no contest

WCW US #1 Contenders

Road Warrior Animal vs Kanyon vs Bam Bam Bigelow vs Ernest Miller vs Shawn Stasiak vs Shane Douglas

I love Shane Douglas, I’d like to see him get the shot here, but Kanyon is riding high after last night

Tag Tournament Round 1

3 Count vs Jung Dragons

Flip a coin here

Air Raid vs Chris Harris and James Storm

Air Raid take the win, unless the break up is coming in which case a loss here could kickstart that

The Mamalukes vs Totally Buffed

I’m not ashamed to admit that the Mamalukes are a huge guilty pleasure of mine, I can’t see them getting past Luger and Buff though

Skipper and Romeo vs Team Canada

They’ve just had a shot, so they won’t win the whole thing....they win here though

Really liked Big Bang! I was pleasantly surprised to see my main boy Scotty Steiner on top again, and Booker left completely in the cold. I have a feeling something is up with Michael Hardwinder, though. You haven't given any sort of hint toward that, just a gut feeling that I have.

Sting - The Stinger is going to take the US title back up to the #2 status it had in the 80s and early 90s.

Kanyon - I thought that Animal could be the one here, due to his role in the M7, but he lost to DDP. Then I thought nah, has to be Douglas; but he's not really on much of a big win. Not like Kanyon, who just sent someone packing from the whole company. He gets the shot.

Jung Dragons

Air Raid

Totally Buff

Team Canada - Maybe a big ruse to bring Elix and Kid into the reformed Team Canada stable?

<p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">Hey Togg! I just wanted to start this out by saying that I am definitely reading and enjoying this one. You are definitely a man of many talents. Opening up Nitro, is the Newly crowned WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner and the other members of the Magnificent 7. Steiner is standing in the middle of the ring when Jeff Jarrett takes a purple velvet bag off of a table set in the ring. Jarrett congratulates Steiner by shaking his hand and then reaching into the bag and presenting Steiner with the Title Belt. Rick Steiner congratulates his brother and says that he hopes he likes his title, they took it to be polished and have his name plate put on the title. WCW President Ric Flair then takes to the microphone and offers his congratulations. Flair says it's great to see the M7 have gold once again and that is should put them on the map in the history books of WCW. Flair then says he is going to grant Booker T his rematch at WCW Great American Bash. Steiner then pulls down the microphone away from Flairs mouth and asks what he thinks he's doing. Luger and Buff then step in and pull Steiner back, as flair tells him that he has to grant Booker his rematch. Flair then winks at Steiner before saying, at least then you can face Booker on a level Playing field. All 7 men then stand side by side and raise their arms in the air, with Steiner raising the title high over his head.

The Mamalukes vs Totally Buffed

After the previous match, Totally Buffed are already waiting in the ring for Vito and the Bull. In a pretty decent match for the first round of the #1 Contender Tag Team Tournament, Bagwell manages to hit the Blockbuster on Vito to pick up the win and advance to round two, next week of the tournament. Thus furthering the golden ambitions of the Magnificent 7.

http://homeofprowrestling.com/MyTEWDiarys/WCW%202001/Roster/ericbischoff.jpg

In a prerecorded video clip, Eric Bischoff is sat behind his desk in WCW HQ. Bischoff says that one of the proudest and most celebrated parts of the WCW History is the over achieving Cruiserweight Division. Bischoff says that he wants to expand on the popularity and success of the division. He says that at the Great American Bash, he is going to organize the first EVER WCW Cruiserweight Bash. A match open to anyone who meets weight, former present or future stars. Bischoff says he is proud of the name Mysterio has made from the division and can't wait to see who shines next. Bischoff then explains how the match works, explaining that the only way to win is to eliminate everyone. The only way to eliminate someone is by pinfall or submission and only two workers can be in the ring at once, insisting that they must tag out before they tap out. The last man left standing is the Ultimate Cruiserweight, and the WCW Cruiserweight Champion.

Backstage WCW Reporter Jeremy Borash is with Booker T. Borash starts by asking how he has prepared for tonight, after suffering a double loss last night. A slightly edgier Booker than normal, answers that he faces Sting twice just 24 hours ago, that he is in a better shape and anyone to face Sting as he is fresh off the heels of scouting out the Multiple time World and US Champion. Borash asks if Booker still has an intention of Unifying the US and World Championships. Booker says that right now he isn't looking any further than tonight, First Regain the US Championship before planning on how he gets back his World Championship.

In the second of tonight's Tag Qualifiers are the team of Styles and Paris vs the newly formed team of Harris and storm. The match doesn't gain much of a crowd reaction and the match end in under 3 Minutes. Air Raid pick up the win in what could be said was a match about experience over size.

In the third time in 24 hours, Booker T and Sting once again battle it out in the ring. Both men put on a great show with both men getting plenty of opportunities. Booker seems to not be showing any signs of frustration after the double loss last night and counters a lot of the offence from Sting. The match continues past the 15th minute when all of a sudden, the newly crowned WCW Champion Scott Steiner runs through the crowd and jumps the guard rails. The Referee who is checking on sting, misses Steiners appearance and misses the blow to the head of Booker with the WCW Championship. Steiner then retreats up the ramp and leaves a bemused Sting to make his way back to his feet, not knowing what happened, asking the referee who doesn't know himself. Booker then starts to stir, but Sting picks him up, hits the Scorpion Death drop and picks up the 3, The whole time with a confused look on his face.
