Loving the way the game is looking, but...

I really like the newest update #11: Gimmick week, initial testing. I hope the new system really allows the ability to make stars easier. I find it really hard in the current system to push someone who is unknown, though talent and having all the tools, to a big star; even though they are feuding with a big name. I'd be hopeful if, in performance based companies, it would be easier to get over when you're a good wrestler. I'm running a European company and though my guys are having great matches, a lot of them seem to peak at D level Popularity; even though I'm a national company with Enormous coverage in Europe. It would be more normal for them my mid card to at lease be around 50 to 60, but I have to have my main stars feud with them for months and months to get them to C level. I would love it if this can be addressed or at least if there is something I'm missing, please educate me. I'm not a rookie to the game but this game has a lot of things that I'm sure I haven't had to know because of how I play.

<p>Lots of awesome additions to the new game and I'm definitely looking forward to it! It seems like the game will integrate really well by the way of eras and certain things being time locked.</p><p> </p><p>

It should really be fun taking a mod around 1994 and progressing through modern day. I'm hoping that someone will be able to make a pretty decent mod of that as the most well known mod makers seemed to have had a falling out.</p>

<p>Have to agree. The game has come on leaps and bounds based off the diary entries and the positivity Adam is showing during the testing phase.</p><p> </p><p>

The social media stuff is also really great, though I do wonder (I've probably overlooked it so apologies if so) if during eras for mods where obviously social media wouldn't have been a thing if it would get reported or said in local newspapers or on local radio all the way up to national with different hits for different levels? Maybe if it hasn't been mentioned it may be a little too complex, but it would add a touch of awesomeness when playing in 1970 and wondering what this confangled Internet people keep talking about is? <span class="ipsEmoji">😂</span></p>

I feel like this hasn't been talked about enough...

If Adam has finally cracked the problem of the AI being almost totally unable to make new stars in pop > perf companies that could be a literal game changer.

I 100% agree! This was always the reason I got bored with games.

Love the disposition strictness. This opens up so many possibilities.

I have a quick question in relation to an earlier entry. It was announced in journal entry 69 that we can now edit chemistry. Just wondering if this extends to announcer chemistry / experience level.

I hate starting a game and spending a lot of time on it only to discover that an obvious announcer experience level has been missed and having the choice of either starting again or leaving it as is as there’s currently no way to correct it.

The toughest thing about A.I in TEW16 is that high ranking companies just sign all of the good talent to written contracts & they ALWAYS have crazy high rated matches. I had a 94 save where All Japan literally booked Misawa & Kobashi vs Holy Demon Army about 30 times in a year. Only reason they stopped was because Kobashi & Misawa got injured & then I stole them all away from All Japan a year later. So yeah, they don't build stars very often, if ever. A.I just kinda uses high rated pop wrestlers until they are too old. Then the company just struggles to make more high pop wrestlers.

<p>I have sort of a request. </p><p> </p><p>

It's also like the last thing to get done so may not even be able to happen yet. </p><p> </p><p>

But would Adam be open to feeding us random tidbits of character development from across the globe, like not their full bio but stuff like Character X has signed with Company Y. Character X has become ME in their company. Just drip feed us CVerse information like the crackheads we are.</p>

Historically, that's the last thing to be touched -- he's just working with a converted version of the last database. So it might be kind of hard to do that.</p>

I'm on the Dev Team and I don't even know what Adam's planning for the Cornellverse yet. So whenm I join in on the predictions, I'm jumping in just as blind as the rest of us. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I also love seeing what people come up with too..... so many fun ideas that I can potentially steal for alternate timelines and fun game ideas. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>Oh I figured that was the case. That actually making features rounded out and what not would be the first priority and then updating the database would be the last part. </p><p> </p><p>

But more when that time comes and progress there happens it would be nice if updates didn't end, but more game world snippets were released.</p>

This is my favorite post since June. This has me extremely excited.

New gimmick feature sounds ridiculously fun like a monumental improvement over the previous system.

It actually might the most signficiant change to date, as having wildly different and randomized gimmick effects which fundamentally affect the booking of the worker differentiates workers more than ever before.

I’m actually super, super excited to play with this and will lean towards more Creative gimmicks for my pet projects because of this.

The Gimmick system sounds like a full win from me! I didn't even know gimmicks in 2016 had pros & cons. Sounds like 2020 will be more clear about these aspects.

It’s really limited and honestly really bad.

Not to be negative but for example, “Gimmicky” gimmicks make up the majority of the database but are awful in every way, not only do they have no positive benefits, they basically suffer additional penalties for losing to Realistic or Legitimate workers and vice-versa AND get an additional penalty for being “overexposed” which is never clearly defined and honestly I still don’t know exactly what it means.

Basically meaning if you are playing efficiently you just never give any of your workers Gimmicky gimmicks and basically rotate the same neutral gimmicks over and over.

Like I hate to say it but in 2016 Gimmicks might as well not exist.

This is the first time in the series I’ve ever been interested in the feature, it looks great and the overhaul was overdue. Pretty awesome change for the backhalf of the journal.

I feel as though the gimmick change will breathe a lot of life into games. I can see myself getting more attached to workers when I've successfully built them up as a character I've concocted. And on the flipside, I can really feel like I'm reinventing someone.

Great work on finding the perfect middle ground on most of the problems in the previous version of the gimmick file, Adam.

Love the new gimmicks

Now if I think someone is a waste of space I can give them one last chance to go all out on a gimmick and maybe they’ll make something out of it. It looks like it’ll be possible for great gimmicks to carry awful wrestlers in this game.

Would be nice since it has some strong historical precedent. I think Kane is a decent worker but not much better than say the Big Show but he had a much better career than Show did despite being worse because his gimmick was so good. And by worse I mean Big Show is nearly the same in ring but several legions better on the microphone. The Big Show actually has always cut a good promo he’s just kind of boring because he’s never had a gimmick that’s been any more complex than “I’m a giant! Rawr!’

I think this is something this new system in particular can really encapsulate. And also the other way around with good workers being held back by terrible gimmicks with lots of penalties.
