Ok, I’m pumped and ready to go for when the demo drops. My latest game is an April 2001 Real World mod playing as the WWF booking the invasion angle, so I’ve played up to January 2002 and copied the save into a new mod so I can convert it and play as soon as the demo hits.

Just need to fix up my title lineages over the next few days and I’m ready to get cracking!

I loved booking DAVE. I did like TEW05 better though, IIRC.

I once did a league kind of promotion with 20 roster members who had two matches each against each other (so basically the same mode as some larger European football leagues). After half a season I quit because a) all my shows were basically pre-booked b) it was no fun anymore ^^

I came up with a unique set of rules to enter the real world with a lower-sized promotion that I will create to challenge ROH, Impact and similar competitors to eventually become number #2 behind WWE some day.

One of the major rules will be that I can only sign 5 "rather unrealistic" talents max. and none of the huge superstars at all. The roster will mainly consist of those in their mid 30s to 40s who did not make it big and could be signed easily, mainly underrated wrestlers I personally liked for the most part, such as Zack Sabre Jr., Low Ki, Eddie Kingston, the Briscoes, Alexander Otsuka, Sami Callihan or Chris Hero. 2 of these 5 "stars" will be KENTA and RVD, I haven't figured out the rest yet.

I think the games are in general more fun if you impose some rules on your hiring process, as I do the same in my intended save described above.

Even though I'd see Hero or Zack Sabre Jr. as quite the big names already with their respective fame from NXT and NJPW.

It really comes down to your product I'd say. If the product is more steered towards in-ring performance I always found it quite easy to get out a good product after around 6-8 shows and be competitive. Starting smaller with a pop based fed is what is more challenging. At least for me it always has been like that.

You're probably right that Hero and Sabre are bigger names nowadays, Hero would at least be a free agent though so I think it would be ok (right now as of April 2020). I've stopped watching wrestling years ago so I'm still stuck somewhere when I used to see them wrestle in front of me to a crowd of 300 people at most. ;) Sabre is still such an underrated wrestler, he reminds me of Bryan Danielson in 2006 or so when it wasn't really clear to anyone what would happen with his career in regards to mainstream wrestling.

In the past I felt when starting "too small" in TEW it would bore me really fast to only book 6-12 different talents and it wouldn't make much room for certain dynamics and roster rotation, so I always start somewhere around a 20-30 man roster which kinda fits the level of ROH and similar promotions I guess.

I'm going to wait a little and grab a Real World Mod, most likely the continuation of Fleish mod, and start with NWA. Rules of my save will be:

 • Can only sign 'realistic' workers. This means workers that would justifiably sign for them. No picking up people like Pac or Moxley who just wouldn't sign for them because of their deal with AEW.
 • Additionally, regardless of the relationships between companies, avoid signing people with conflicting TV deals. IMPACT, ROH and AEW are the three main ones where, in real life, their contract would have them be unable to work there full time. I will probably explore how relationships work and if I can set them up so companies all follow this rule to try make the save more realistic
 • Tapings have to be done with the maximum about of episodes per day, which I think is 4 if I remember rightly. This can only be changed once we get to a size comparable to AEW
 • Owner goals are absolute and must always be the number one aim, even if it works against me
 • Book the product as faithfully as possible. There won't be any elimination chambers or ultra death matches, the content will be true to the NWA brand.
 • No shortcuts or using the editor. So no changing the product to fit trends, no putting contracts one one day to get a worker to leave a company, no unretiring people if they go.

Some of these might seem needlessly restrictive but I really want to play the game as realistically and faithfully to the idea of the NWA as possible and challenge myself to find and develop talent, work within a budget and improve my booking skills within the game.

I never change stuff via the editor. I mostly play smaller company and most of the times my Champions gets contracts with bigger company, so screw i loose them. So workers dies, some retires some quit the business. Its shits that happens in real life. The sudden change to original plans, thats what I like the most.

I'll be giving NOTBPW a go as they're the only CVerse company I've actually played with in 2016 (I mostly play mods) so I'm interested to see what the shake-up has been there, provided they're still around.

I'm also working on my own alternate reality mod which I'll doubtlessly be playing numerous test runs for over the first few months!

This kind of challenge interests me. I’d like to see the rest of the world debut in a future TEW, especially Africa and the rest of Asia.
