I know this is probably a matter of preference, but when it comes to dynasties of touring promotions the shows that serve as "highlight shows" on TV - how do you guys present those?

Check out CGN91's White Canvas Grappling. I think he's perfected the way of presenting tour shows.

Yeah, like Dalton suggested, CGN91's is an excellent example. I was also fond of Body By THawk's AJPW dynasty, joemurphy's NJPW dynasties, and dean's NJPW dynasties for that style as some other examples.

Yes 1000%. Those are some of the best dynasties to grace this board.

So, been having trouble getting my AJPW save/databases from 1983 exported over to the new game, so I'm thinking of starting up a new dynasty with a 1985 start date. Thinking of either going with the WWF in the run up to Wrestlemania or sticking with puro and doing a NJPW save.

Decisions, decisions...

I got the urge to start up a Real World dynasty over the weekend and, considering it would be a side project, I thought of a great idea. A new alliance between AEW, New Japan, ROH, RevPro, EVE and STARDOM. I'd run RevPro shows, only once or twice a month so I didn't have to invest too much time, and meanwhile it'd double up as a watcher save to see what might happen if AEW and New Japan did decided to blow open the "forbidden door".

I'll cut to the chase, Griff Garrison pinned Kazuchika Okada on the third week of January's AEW Dynamite. Not exactly what I'd hoped.

So here I am thinking of a different way to set this up. I considered controlling both AEW, NJPW and RevPro, but the time commitment to book both companies, even with very brief write-ups, is overwhelming. It's clear the AI won't book it how we would all imagine, and that's no slight on the game - it makes decisions based on numbers rather than creative spirit. All this leads me to the conclusion that if this dynasty is to happen, I need other humans to be involved.

Would anyone be interested in attempting this sort of collaborative diary with me? I think it could be a really fun way to fantasy book 2021 from Wrestle Kingdom onwards, sharing talent and trying to establish an international super alliance.

In terms of commitment, I would keep it to a very limited format - only going into detail for important shows. Tour shows can be whizzed through and TV can be summarised. It would be more of a macro dynasty looking at the changes long term rather than focusing on the nitty gritty of story beats and character details. And graphics would be kept very basic. In this way, it could serve as a side-project for any one of you already established, fantastic dynasty writers, or it could be an opportunity for a new writer to get their feet wet with a bit of support.

The only thing I would require is consistency - keeping shows uploaded regularly (about once a week each). I'd be flexible about which companies we each book. If just one person is interested, we'd do AEW and NJPW. If more want to get involved, I'd open up the possibility for one of the other companies in the alliance.

If you have any interest in joining me to do this, I'd be thrilled. I can already picture the likes of Kenny Omega taking on Naito, Cody vs. Tanahashi, a Bullet Club war, Will Ospreay against PAC... the possibilities are mouthwatering!

I'm not sure if this is where you ask this sort of question (I'm hoping).

I'm curious as a reader of a diary.. How often would you like a show posted in order for you to keep up and know what's going on in that story? I know the answer given by most is "whatever YOU feel like, do it for you not others" and that's a great set of advice, but I'm not looking for that this time. I'm looking for an answer that will help me determine a good schedule to release shows, etc.

Thank you for your answers in advance if this is answered, and if its in the wrong spot please delete.

Thank you!

Tobin

When I did my AEW diary, I started with two shows a week (posted Sunday and Wednesday ideally) then after about three months in-game I went down to one per week.

<p>I wouldn't normally post a 'new' episode here as it's not what this is for but after a 6 month hiatus this basically feels like a new diary. Also I believe most of the small amount of readers I did have are no longer on the boards but hopefully there isn't a link there... (come back LaEstrella and keep EMLL alive!)</p><p> </p><p>

If you fancy some C-verse RAW then this is likely your best bet now that Lloyd has moved on to greener pastures. That is unless I'm missing a new RAW diary that has popped up which could completely be better than this. It begins with everyones favourite Australian wrestler waking up from a coma.</p><p> </p><p>

Not an original idea but at least one that perfectly mirrors the diary itself...</p>

I have a question for all the members out here. I recently watched Superstar Spectacle and that got me thinking of doing a RL India based diary as i belong there and i can hopefully do a decent diary and i am struggling to go back to my previous two considering the burden that i have in my work.

So, the question is which RL mod has a decent amount of Indian or Indian origin wrestlers?

Author Note: I've been kicking this idea around for a while and finally booked a couple shows in this save. I'm going to try to book some and get a lot written out before I commit to actually doing a dynasty. I clearly draw a lot of inspiration from The Historian's diaries, and I'll feature some of the same characters, but I hope you'll see it's with a different perspective. With that said:

It was a gorgeous day in Corbin, Kentucky: the clouds covered the sun just enough to keep it cool, but not so much where you’d call it gloomy. He never really liked the town where Sally grew up, but the weather was the same every time they visited. As he walked the aisles of the local Food Mart, a familiar voice from his past called up behind him…

“Pete? Ol’ Pete Hall? How the hell are ya?”

8m2ACoT.jpg

He couldn’t believe it. It was Hank Deverell, his old buddy from high school back in Midland, and who he presumed was his teenage son.

"Hank? What are you doing here?”

“I live here! Moved out here for a construction job, met the wife, settled down and had Zippy here and made ourselves a life! I could ask you the same question though.”

“Sally’s relatives live here, and we come out every Thanksgiving. This year I burned the turkey, so here I am.”

“So what you been up to since retiring? My boy Zippy here followed you growing up. Broke his heart to see his hero retire. You know, he’s training to get in the ring himself.”

Pete did not like this question. Every time someone asked him what he’s been up to, he had to come up with something less pathetic than, “Going through two fifths of Jack and a can of Skoal a day watching old wrestling highlight tapes and thinking about days gone by.”

So, before even thinking, he blurted out, “Yeah I been getting the itch again. Dunno if I’ll ever get rid of it completely. Been thinkin’ bout runnin’ a few local shows around the old stomping grounds.”

Wait… what? Why did he say that? He had no such plans.

“A few local shows eh? The Pistol Pete I knew never would’ve stopped at a few local shows. Sounds like you got somethin’ big planned. I know my boy would love to get in there and look up at the lights to learn some from the great Pistol Pete Hall, ain’t that right, Zip?”

Zg0a49P.jpg

“Oh yes sir, we been working real hard. I may not ever be as big as you were Mr. Hall, but when I’m out there I fight like I’m ten foot tall.”

Pete took another look at Zippy. He was a bit scrawny, but he had a good frame, could probably hold another 50 pounds or so. Clearly he wasn’t shy. He sized the young Corbin native up once again before looking him in the eye and asking, “What’s your finish?”

“I hit ‘em with the prettiest spinning bulldog you ever seen.”

Pete stared for another five seconds or so, then bust out laughing, “Sorry kid, you sold it like hell but a spinning bulldog? We gotta work on that. And we will, Hank,” Pete turned to his old friend, “I promise.”

With those words, Pete walked away to finish his Thanksgiving shop, but he couldn’t stop thinking about why he promised to do something he had no intention of doing. Pistol Pete was a lot of things, but a liar wasn’t one of them. Now he had a promise to keep, and a phone call to make...

Piledriver Wrestling presents

...and a happy New Year 1997

Wednesday, Week 1, January, 1997

Live from Atlanta, GA

z6RgEyr.jpg7VTvEwh.jpg

Sims: "Hello fans of Piledriver Wrestling, Dennis sims here alongside Larry Grubbs, we welcome you to tonight's show and thank you for purchasing a tape in support of our upstart promotion. By getting your copy you not only support a company out to help groom the stars of tomorrow which you get to see in their very first steps, you also get to watch some of the most exciting independent wresting in the U.S. of A!"

Grubbs: "You know Dennis, it's always weird to hear you address our future audience, so I'm not going to be a part of it. I'm just going to do the job I was paid to do and call the action as it happens, don't care if it's a live or taped broadc... what the?"

A well-known music theme is played on the Community Center's speakers, one all too familiar to wrestling fans and certainly one you'd never expect to hear at an indy show that didn't even manage to get a hundred paying fans to watch...

upNoQfl.jpg

It's Micky Starr! The SWF legend Micky Starr is in the building!

Starr: "Man it feels good to be here! Yeah, you people never expected to see me here, did you? Goes to show, don't count the little promotions out, not everything happens in the big leagues. Anyway, I bet you're wondering why I'm here..."

Fans cheer and Micky Starr takes it all in, before turning to the announcers' table and pointing a finger towards Larry Grubbs

Starr: "I got a seat reserved right there... You know, it's easy to get selfish in this business. Let your ego get the best of you. Forget where you came from. I did not. I had my time and once I hung up my boots, I tried to give back to this business. Help the next generation. I went to Japan, worked for Golden Canvas. Canada, with the DeColts. But I realized I hadn't done anything to help my fellow American wrestlers. So Larry, if you'd please check with the crew backstage, they'll fill you in on your new responsibilities. I'm taking over on commentary for the foreseeable future. You fans excited for what's next?"

Fans cheer and Micky Starr leaves the ring. Larry Grubbs complains for a while, but eventually leaves in frustration to head backstage as Starr takes his place on commentary.

Big Cat Brandon & Henry Bennett vs Giant Redwood & R.T. Kayfabe

Piledriver Wrestling's resident angry big clumsy man teams up with the company's basic comedy act to take on the feline wildman powerhouse Big Cat Brandon and "The Trouble from Tennessee" Henry Bennett who provides some semblance of technical wrestling for the opener. It's not great, but it rides the coattails of Micky Starr's shock appearance and is over while the excitement from that still lasts., with Brandon pinning R.T. after spearing him with the Big Cat Pounce.

Winners: Big Cat Brandon & Henry Bennett, by pinfall

Piledriver Women's title match

Ashley Murphy © vs Cat E Tude

Don't let the gimmicky nurse outfit fool you, Ashley Murphy is a legitimately trained nurse. Which means she pulls her punches back as much as she can. Looks weak, but at least she can play it up for laughs or to be the underdog. Her opponent is an even weirder case, the crazy cat lady of wrestling. Where the gimmick ends and the real person begins is never quite clear with her. In this case, she's more interested in sniffing the ring than actually wrestling, something that may or may not be attributed to the presence of Big Cat Brandon between the ropes earlier. This is anything from boring to embarrassing to watch, but for the record Murphy does apply her Painkiller finisher to retain.

Winner AND STILL Piledriver Women's champion: Ashley Murphy, by submission (defenses: 3)

7VTvEwh.jpgguXejyp.jpg

Larry Grubbs returns with a mic in hand and enters the ring. He announces that he was told he will be interviewing the wrestlers from now on and his first interview is scheduled next, with none other than Rich Money, whose music plays as he comes down to the ring while showered with boos but not seeming to care.

Money: "You plebs are not worthy of my presence, or that of the living legend that is Micky Starr over there. This man's here because he can tell, no pun intended, a real star when he sees one. Takes one to know one, I'll say. Anyway, it is only fitting you are here tonight sir, to watch me take my place among the top of the food chain in this humble promotion. I have used my sizeable financial pull to buy myself a shot at the Piledriver Men's title tonight and I by the end of the night, I will be the new champion. Tonight, Rich Money... will make it rain!"

Piledriver Tag Team titles match

JY8wG3m.jpg0XnW6vx.jpgGIRKb76.jpgXfTqFBP.jpgRxpn27b.jpg

The Peak Brothers defeated Dario Shelton and Skeeter Colquhoun

The vacant Piledriver Tag Team titles were wrestled for next, with the Peak Brothers in their first year as pros but looking every bit as vicious as one would expect, especially after they gained notoriety for that "shoot" incident with Big Smack Scott. Doug and Eddie jumped the gun and imposed their pace on the match, brawling wildly outside the ring against two opponents who just couldn't match the natural understanding of two siblings. Skeeter Colquhoun's charisma and flashy spots did earn him a few cheers from the audience (despite his painful lack of psychology) and although Shelton was actually the best wrestler in this match, since this was about brawling and not grappling, he was unable to play to his strengths and ended up on the working end of a Peak and Valley.

Winners AND NEW Piledriver Tag Team champions: The Peak Brothers, by pinfall

Black Eagle vs Blue Sky

Battle of the luchadors in the semi main event as Black Eagle and Blue Sky brought the fight to each other. Not the best match these two could possibly have, since the audience is more into old school wrestling than a flashier aerial style and thus they had to play a more grounded game instead of being able to pull out all the stops. Clearly this was meant more as a breather and palette cleanser between two title matches and nothing was resolved between the two masked men, as they ended up getting counted out after a spectacular plancha to the outside.

Result: Draw (Double Countout)

Show Rating

Don't mind me, just got an itch to start a save in the wonderful CVerse97 mod. It's what inspired my old diary as Piledriver Wrestling in the 2016 CVerse so it feels like coming full circle, in a way. Had this idea to do each main event as a FPWW video like the one above. Not sure if this is just to get it out of my system or whether it'll turn into a full blown diary... yet

I’m having a ‘rut’ moment. I’ve enjoyed IPW; however, I find it hard to book a hard core product long-term. I enjoyed ECW back in the day but it doesn’t entirely resonate with me at this point in my life.

Now, I’ve always had a love for SWF; hence so many protects over the years. The grandiose nature of the product makes it a lot of fun. I don’t have the previous “Evolution of Supreme” game; so, I’d have to start all over.

Would anyone read that? My show write ups would be far shorter than now but would still project characters and storylines.

Not much of an SWF fan, so take my reply with a grain of salt. I've been quietly keeping tabs on your IPW diary (mainly because I'm a GSW shill lol) and with Lloyd already doing a good job on his SWF diary, I can't say if the audience will be split or happy to have double the content. Since you did bring ECW up though, I'd suggest the middle ground of "going mainstream/selling out". ECW had to water down its product to really get coverage and this caused an identity crisis; I'd be interested to see your IPW diary take a similar path.

I also say stick with IPW. It’s product Isn’t specifically hardcore exclusive. It allows for other styles to thrive like early ECW. You can present an ECW feel without being hyper hardcore.

I will always read an SWF offering from E-V but your IPW story still has legs if you have the willing. Focus less on the hardcore and keep it on the characters. Historian and Raider have provided logic for a less hardcore foxus. Whatever you go for sign me up!

I agree with all the others who have said a toned down version of IPW could be an answer.

At the same time I can certainly relate to being in ruts with certain diaries. I'd also say I wouldn't force it too much. You say the product isn't fully resonating with you and I do honestly think the more a writer is personally into and excited about a project the more likely it will resonate with readers.

I'd 100% like to see IPW continue but just chiming in a different opinion that obviously the more great qualities diaries on here the better and if a change of promotion is what is needed for you to get into a longer term project then I'd at least allow yourself to think about what this would be and see if anything grabs you.

I obviously am a big fan of your IPW offering so this may be a biased take, but I think you should stick with it. You can make the company whatever you want it to be, and you just kicked off what is, in my opinion, one of the coolest angles across this board.

I had a big rut in my AEW diary, to the point I actually announced its ending and posted all my future plans, only to realize I had a big audience and some fun stories to write about!

Thank you everyone for your responses. It really helps to hear the perspective of others.

I'll be honest, I really feel that 'rut' right now. I'll probably take a few days to think about what my plans will be. Either way, I want to write/create. It just depends on the stories that I want to tell I suppose.

There are three active TCW diaries going on right now and they all seem to have loyal followings. I am not sure how Eisen doing an SWF diary would split the audience or make anyone unhappy.

Heck, when I was doing my old SWF diary years ago I think both James Casey and Eisen were running their own. Granted everyone read theirs and not many read mine.:D My point being, some people are SWF fans and will read SWF based diaries regardless of who the writer is, some people are Eisen or Lloyd fans and they will follow them to whatever project they decide to tackle next. There will be crossover between the two but I doubt anyone would object to Eisen doing an SWF diary.

My answer would be, it seems like SWF is where your heart is so go for that.
