Diary Preview And Questions Thread

Wow thanks. Got a couple more narratives written and I’ve booked six shows now. Need to get some shows written. Any idea where I can find a good template for formatting a show?

That depends on what you want your show to look like, really. You can feel free to use/modify any of the templates I've used for my shows over the time if you want.

I think, at the end of the day, I really am energized by the idea of an SWF project. As I’ve talked about with Christmas Ape, my challenges with my last one (which went quite some time, actually) was not being able to keep up with such a depth of writing due to being a father & teacher. That said, I’ve remedied this with simplifying my writing even more. Match write ups will be rather short in nature and I will cut out a lot of the extra description in angles that aren’t really necessary. If I can do that, then I feel as though I can book, complete, and write a show in 2’ish weeks at a time.

I’m interesting in the narrative of SWF “going in a different direction” due to falling firmly into 2nd place. The Eisen boys are now in control and, in the case of the new booker (Eric Eisen), he favors a more edgier product (as it states in the game). This lends itself to the “Ruthless Aggression” product rather well. I like this product a little more than the “Attitude Entertainment” due to the fact that I don’t want to overly objectify women & write a bunch of p*nis jokes (ala WWF late 90s). Haha. “Ruthless Aggression” gives me my grandiose style that I like with a more edgier feel.

It’s going to take a bit to craft; so, I may not be actively writing something for a little bit here. That said, I want to take my time developing the characters, look and feel of the project that distinguishes itself from the base feel. Yes, there will be some previous character iterations that I’ve done that will make a return. That said, I am attempting to look at the SWF, under the guise of this new product, with a new set of eyes & thoughts.

Thank you to everyone for your help with all of this. I was certainly getting into a rut, that was spanning for the last few weeks. The last show I wrote for IPW, even with the ‘big moment’, felt like I was writing just to write — I wasn’t connected to it and it felt like a chore to get through.

<div style="padding: 15px; border: 3px solid #c43e12; margin:10px;background: #fcb103; max-width:100%;box-shadow: 0 3px 12px ";">It's late 2005 and the SWF Juggernaut is still on top of the wrestling world. For decades Richard Eisen's powerhouse has been the #1 promotion in the world of professional wrestling. Many challengers have come and gone in their attempts to overthrow the machine but, so far, none have prevailed.

It is well known that Eisen loves competition but he loves defeating and putting any competition out of business even more. With the roster he currently has assembled, the perfect blend of experience and youth, and the level of star power it holds it seems like nothing can stop him. Characters like Rich Money, Jack Bruce, Steve Frehley, Remo Richardson and Enygma working with characters such as Sam Keith, Christian Faith and Runaway Train is a can't fail method for printing money and staying on top.

So what were to happen if a number of the other prominent companies in the business were to come together, create alliances, share talent and help each other to stay in business?

Well, that's just the idea that Steve DeColt had and that he's attempting to make a reality. Nobody is entitled to a monopoly on the industry and why shouldn't companies work together more often? Why be in war with each other when you can help each other grow?

He made a few calls and the motions were in place for the World Wrestling Alliance to be born...

Of course, he'd have to convince his brothers to get on board, convince the other owners and bookers that it was a good idea and get the idea past his old man. Lord knows that would be no easy feat but if he could there was potential for greatness. Supershows? Sure. Alliance specific titles? Heck yeah! Sticking it to Richard Eisen? Well everyone wants to do that don't they?!

The dynasty would be CGC orientated with narratives, booking and predictions revolved around Canada's favourite company but with opportunities to go bigger with the alliance

TEW.com reports that the rights to CWB and all of their properties has been purchased by an anonymous entity. Although the new owner has yet to be disclosed, their lawyer indicated they intend on reopening the old New England territory. More details will be shared when they are uncovered.

CWB Reborn

My first attempt at a diary! It will have a good amount of narratives and will be focused on rebuilding CWB from 0 popularity.

1) So for images you need to have and either side of the link. When you're on the comment there's the insert image button that puts does that automatically for you. So this.. without the - for example.

I believe there's some amount you have to have posted before you're allowed to post images but I think that's a really small amount (less than 15 you've done I assume).

2) I suppose you're right that there's not many modern day WWE ones at the moment but I'd say in general they are just as popular as C-verse, if not more so. I personally stick mostly with c-verse but there's loads of examples of great, long running WWE diaries that have had lots of readers and views. Perhaps looking at the DOTM history book (pinned thread) and checking out some of the past real world winners there could help.

1) Just adding some graphical explanation to what christmas_ape said.

2) They are not discouraged, it's just a beast to book. Too many long shows a week, so going in too much detail is not much of an option if you want to go the distance with a diary. Especially 'running kind-of parallel to the present day'... But I don't know, maybe you have a different outlook.

In any event, good luck with your project

Oh, I didn't mean parallel as in 'at the same time', I want to live into my thirties. And I'm definitely going to look around the history thread and see what other people have done. Thank you all.

Editing this since I don’t want to double post: what is the Rocky Maivia award? Is it about sucking? That’s mainly what I know Rocky Maivia for.

This is my first attempt at a RW diary, I usually shy away from them because I tend to sign every worker I like in real life and try to push everyone to the moon and it ends up being a nightmare. But I've been having a blast trying to really overhaul AJPW's current roster so I figured why not make a diary out of it...

If your an AJPW fan be warned:

Lot's of wrestlers are getting released. Lots of new blood is incoming and I may have just stolen the next big star from one of your favorite smaller companies. (okay, so I signed them on a handshake deal since they were probably loyal but you get the point!)

How do you guys get the coloured backgrounds and borders for your diaries? I can't figure out how to do it for the life of me.

Some HTML code will do that for you. Quote someone's post who has a background like that and you'll see all the code. Copy and paste it into a notepad document and play around with the values to get something you like.

I second this. This is exactly what I did to learn. It's a ton of trial and error trying to find the sweet spot.
