TEW 2020 Small Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

If I'm a small company accepting developmental workers or those on excursions, do I also pay the salaries for these workers?

You do have to pay for excursions, but I have found that the deals are pretty reasonable (and usually don't include paying travel). For development, the parent company pays.

A two-prong question about titles:

1. When creating a new title, is there any way to avoid the first title-holder being 'vacant'? This makes the title history look horrendous.

2. In my development company, I created a main title and a tag title but a midcard title keeps being added that I don't want. I retire it, then bang it's back again. I have to check before every show they run to make sure they haven't un-retired it again. Any way around this?

After all these years of playing this game I’ve never thought to ask this question:

How do you combat/deal with the “not enough selling shown” note. Is there a road agent instruction you should give to mitigate someone not being great at selling?

There you can also add new moves for the game, which in the second step can be added to the move set you want to change.</p>

If I am a Japanese company and I hire an American with good pop in his home area and no pop in Japan, his perception will be Unimportant.

If I run a show in America where he is by far the most popular worker, will he be considered Unimportant for the show, and if so would I receive penalities that go along with that perception i.e. the used too much note?

Yes. He'll count as unimportant. I assume you're asking because you're worried about the fans being unhappy at an Unimportant vs Unimportant match and he would be subject to that. I've noticed it's not that bad, especially for a card filler match that's more aimed at getting the people over rather than making the show rating.

It has some advantages in that he'll be happy to put over someone who is a Major Star on your roster but doesn't have pop in America yet even at a show in America. Also, if pop affects match ratings in your product at all, he can get star-level ratings in a match that takes place in America and if you broadcast the event in Japan it helps them get over pretty quick.

My advice: Hire 3-4 such Americans, use them in pre-show matches in Japan to build some momentum and the baseline popularity, then have them fight each other in your American shows and broadcast them in Japan. Give most/all wins to the ones you want to keep long term and then have the others job to your other workers that you want to get over in America.

I don't think there's anything that does that. I'm not even sure what such a thing would be ("You're bad at selling kid, but do it good today"). If it's dragging your match down tons, maybe Protect.

I believe it's a relative note, in the sense that it's the combined selling in the match versus the overall match rating. So if it's a match where you're shooting for a high rating but has someone bad at selling, make sure they are against someone (or multiple people) that are good at it.

Throughout my game (of 2 years so far) I've been having a problem and that is that I have too many Major Stars, how do I prevent this? Is this something that will go away with my continued expansion? Do I have to job them out to lower their perception?

Is that so much a problem as it is the goal of the game? If you want to keep people down you'll have to...well...keep them down. Or release guys if they get to big for you.

Perception is relative to your company popularity, so if you're not growing very fast then you'll see a lot of perception increases.

Is the note "WRESTLER was really off his game" just a result of a bad roll based on the consistency stat?

I believe so, yes.

It's really an issue when you book a smaller promotion efficiently. Your wrestlers pop grows faster than your companys size.

In my game I had a dozen wrestlers cap at 55, because my fed was tiny. When I reached small, they jumped to 60 within days. I have now half my roster between 55 and 60, and all are "major stars", which feels a bit weird.

Furthermore, major stars seem to get annoyed pretty quickly, when they are not booked for all your events. So this can become a real problem.

This is something I'll have to keep my eye on. I've certainly noticed a change in wrestlers development or popularity now that I'm a Med company (started with ACPW)...roster started attracting attention from other companies etc...much bigger offers...being aware of the almost immediate effects of growing the size of your promotion is a good lesson.

<p>What is the difference between losing a match and putting someone over?</p><p> </p><p>

As an example, in the "talk to worker" section I asked Jeff Hardy(Star) how he would feel about losing a match at an event and at TV to CM Punk (Unimportant). Both times he said he would have no complaints about that booking. I then asked if he would be willing to put CM Punk over, and he responded that CM Punk is way down from his level, so he would be unwilling to put him over.</p>

<p>Do new workers (and i guess workers already setup) gain new attributes like 100% babyface(if they are a babyface with high ratings ), Tag team specialist (does lots of good tag team matches) etc throughout their careers? or are you stuck with what they get other then temporary ones - hot move/cathcphrase.</p><p> </p><p>

If so is it 'random' or as i said above can you get workers to these attributes by playing to them?? Its just my brand new workers seem very plain on that side.</p>

Hey, Im doing my first Local to global run to learn the mechanics and booking. I started with an all female canadian company with 10 in popularity.

So now I've put on 4 shows in 4 months (all shown on Youtube in Canada and US on demand), the rating from those 4 shows have been 32-30-29 and 40. But... i havent increased my pop (10) at all in Quebec where I hold my shows, I've only increased my pop by 1 maximum in some other provinces or US states. Whats the problem? Also, Wrestling industry in Canada is 26 and falling atm, does this have anything to do with it? And if so, how?

Thanks.

You likely have gained popularity, just not enough to reach 11 - at your small size you may only be gaining 0.1 or 0.2 per show, particularly in a poor industry, so four shows may not get you up to a full point. Unless the post show screen is telling you that you're not gaining popularity in all the regions, it's very unlikely that you're genuinely not moving.

Thanks for the answer, yes I figured since ive moved up 1 point in a couple of areas it should work. But then I know the bad wrestling industry is hurting my pop gain! Hopefully it will change fast. Thanks for a great game Adam.
