TEW 2020 Small Questions Thread

Recommended Posts

Some product styles say that "Fans expect clean finishes and will be upset with anything else".

Does anyone know what would constitute a clean finish? I imagine anything other than a decisive or flash pinfall, but am not sure. From my limited gameplay with this type of product, the fans weren't happy to see tainted or distraction finishes if I remember correctly, but I didn't test out any other types.

Are workers not allowed to be in multiple storylines any longer? I could have sworn in 2016, you could be in one major role and one supporting role, but I can't seem to do that in 2020.

You can still do that. Might need to adjust the Filter, so that those that are already in other storylines still show up

It means you can use pinfall, submission, flash pinfall or draws. No outside interference or dq or anything like that. No tainted or cheap wins.

Struggling to keep a game or get it to last more than a month or 2, how does everyone plan out their storylines I try plan my PPVs as far ahead and work back but end up sitting staring at the screen unsure what to do with large parts of the roster.

I am going to try using a word document and try get a template of everything mapped out, just wondering if anyone has any tips/suggestions/advice. :D

Probably overplanning. You definitely want to have a general idea of where you're going, but you need flexibility also. Sticking to a tight script will make you 1) bored and 2) incapable of changing your plans when the time comes.

I'm playing a WWE save right now. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do for a year, but a few months in I felt like the stories I had planned were getting a bit stale. Some of them needed to be shortened, some needed to be scrapped, and some were working out great. I kept the people in good feuds on their shows, and (a couple nights ago, actually) I did a random sweep-up draft of the rest. A few minor tweaks later, I have a completely new midcard and I've reshuffled all of my key players without upsetting any hot feuds.

Obviously that's a drastic measure, but you have to be open to shaking things up in some way. A big part of this game, for me at least, is putting ideas into practice and adjusting them on the fly if they don't work out. Rigidity is the reaper of creativity. A lot of your good ideas will end up sucking. The challenge is how you adapt.

As for the not knowing what to do with people -- nobody knows what to do with people. That's why you experiment. Find the weakest part of your fed and spice it up. Run a tournament, have a six-way for the belt, hire someone new or fire someone old. Find someone you have no idea what to do with and have them go over someone a little bit above them. See if they can handle getting pushed up the card a bit. Have an intergender feud. Pick your favorite underappreciated gimmick match and find a way to work it into one of your ongoing stories. Get a good talker to be a manager for some young kid you think has potential. I can tell you some examples of stuff I'm doing in my save if you want more inspiration.

Always have a plan, but don't be afraid to scrap it the instant it stops being useful. And don't be afraid to do wacky stuff. It's a fake sport, it's supposed to be wacky. Believe in the chaos. Try things that you think will fail. Most of them probably will fail. Every failure is a step closer to success. Good luck.

<p>Angle Length and Popularity</p><p> </p><p>

Anyone remember in TEW2016 that the rule of thumb for angle length was 4 minutes (minimum to get any growth), but if you were using a main eventer it was 6 minutes (minimum to prevent pop loss);</p><p> </p><p>

Is that still the standard for TEW2020?</p><p> </p><p>

:cool:Any veteran advice for booking angle lengths?</p><p> </p><p>

Thank you <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Planning on a storyline where i'm having a worker come out and beat unimportant guys on the roster as well as local enhancement talents, after beating them easily he will continue to over celebrate and put himself over claim to be on a winning streak, before eventually having someone higher up on the roster come out and start a fued.

Will having someone who is recognisable or well known have a series of matches with low ratings due to who he is fight have a negative effect on his overness?

If a wrestler qualifies, when they retire they will be entered into it and it will create a news story. Same with Hall of Immortals.</p>
