Agree with falling_star, I can really visualise a lot of what's happened in your dairy happening in the real AEW.

Also, didn't realise Ryan Reynolds was a pro wrestling fan :D

AEW DYNAMITE

ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Wednesday Week 1, January 2021

Atlanta, GA | 5,958 Fans

AEW Dark Results:

1. Chris Hero def. Ten

2. Riho def. Allie

3. Lucha Brothers def. Brandon Cutler & Dustin Fraser

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone welcome us to the Anniversary Edition of Dynamite to kick off 2021! They run down the stacked card for tonight, including the main event which will feature a rematch of the first-ever AEW World Championship match, pitting Chris Jericho against Adam Page!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

1. Eddie Kingston def. Jake Hager - King gets the W in the battle against the Inner Circle! Despite Sammy and Jericho being ringside, Kingston was able to take down the MMA fighter in Hager! Santana fended off his former allies just long enough for King to hit the spinning back fist. As soon as the bell sounded, the two of them bounced before Sammy, Hager, Jericho and Floyd could leave a mark on them.

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

We received a pre-recorded promo from AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. He is flanked by Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows.

Kenny was angry that he has to defend the title against three other men in a four-way match next week on the Jericho Cruise. He went through his opponents one-by-one: Lance Archer? Peaked in Japan and has already gotten his shot at the title when he lost to Moxley. Orange Cassidy? He doesn't deserve a national spotlight, let alone a title match. Jon Moxley? We already know what happened there. Kenny stated that he is the Best Bout Machine, he is the Ace of this company, and he will continue to clean up All Elite Wrestling!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

2. AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR © def. Best Friends - Chuckie T and Trent became team number five to fall to FTR. Despite putting up an incredible effort, and putting on another incredible match, they fell to the Goodnight Express.

Post match, the two Horsemen spoke to the crowd, with Harwood saying that the Revolution will continue on!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

3. Scorpio Sky def. Brian Cage - The Machine falls victim to a well-timed rollup! SCU and Team Taz had a standoff outside the ring, and as Cage bounced off the ropes, Kazarian grabbed his foot, leading to Sky pinning his opponent!

Once the bell rang, both factions brawled all around the ring and ringside area, forcing a flock of officials to come out and break them up!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

AEW Women's World Champion Kris Statlander was interviewed by Alex Marvez. He asked her about next week's championship match against Britt Baker on the Jericho Cruise. She responded by saying that she will continue her reign across the globe. It doesn't matter if it's on land, water, or in her home galaxy of Andromeda. Next week, Britt becomes victim #5 for the Galaxy's Champion!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

4. Jon Moxley & Darby Allin def. Killer Elite Squad - One week before they meet in the four-way championship match, Moxley and Archer went balls to the wall here. While Darby and Davey Boy Smith Jr. certainly had a role, the real story was between the other two. Moxley was able to pin DBS Jr. with a Paradigm Shift at 14:50, as Jake Roberts ordered his crew away from the ring, as he is smart enough to save Lance Archer for his big title match!

However, although the Snake Pit left, another group entered as DEATH TRIANGLE appeared from behind Moxley and Darby and attacked them! PAC, Pentagon Jr and Rey Fenix reigned havoc on the two, with PAC hitting Darby with a gnarly Red Arrow! However, before any more damage could be done, from the back came...

WILL HOBBS!

The big man comes to the aid Mox and Darby for the second week in a row!

Hobbs held off the three of them just long enough for Mox and Darby to recover, leading to a huge standoff between the two groups in the ring! But before they could come to blows again, Death Triangle dipped out, leaving Moxley, Darby and Hobbs to compose themselves in the ring. It seems like these three may be forming a more permanent alliance...

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

We got a very weird, mysterious video package calling out AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. It was in black and white, and featured images of Kenny Omega's highlights in AEW with text appearing under each image.

"You abandoned us"

"You were supposed to be THE ONE"

"You miss us, don't you Kenny"

"Don't pretend to be us anymore"

"We are coming for you"

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

5. Hikaru Shida def. Tenille Dashwood - A fantastic match! Shida put away Dashwood in sixteen minutes flat, a long match for the women's division in AEW. This win here puts Shida back in the title picture, and you can bet the winner of the title match next week will have to look out for the former champ!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Backstage, TNT Champion MJF was with his Dynasty cronies: Ricky Starks, Hammerstone and Richard Holliday. He spoke to Jungle Boy through the camera, and said that the win last week in the tag match was a fluke. Everybody knows that MJF is the future of professional wrestling. Hell, he is actually the present, as he points to the title. He is the face of this company, and the face of this network. Jungle Boy will always play second-fiddle in AEW to MJF. Every list of the next stars in AEW always list MJF at #1, and Jungle Boy at #2. Next week on the Jericho Cruise, he will reinforce that as he will defeat Jungle Boy and continue to be TNT Champion!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Backstage, Cody Rhodes was seen walking alone into what appeared to be an office. The omnipresent Alex Marvez walked up with a microphone just as Cody was walking into the room, and asked him about his new faction in the New Horsemen, and what that means for his future.

Cody responded by saying that a man is known by the company he keeps. The company he was keeping turned their backs on him by welcome Adam Cole with open arms, even though Cole attacked one of their own at Full Gear. What kind of man would Cody Rhodes be if he kept that same company? A spineless one. Instead, Cody enlisted the aid of four other men he knew as loyal, as determined, and as winners.

Cody Rhodes gently pushed the microphone away and walked into the office. The cameraman had a good angle of the doorway, and it was clear that a man was sitting in a chair, facing away from the door. The person spun around, and it was revealed that the man was Dustin Rhodes.

Dustin, ignoring or possible not seeing the camera there, was fixated on his brother. Cody asked what he was doing there, to which Dustin responded that he just wanted to talk about what has been happening the last couple weeks. Cody said that he did what he needed to do. He couldn't stand arm in arm with them anymore. Dustin said that he understands that, but he thinks he has gone too far by reforming the Horsemen. He said he fought against them 25 years ago.

Dustin asked a pivotal question: What would their father think of this?

This enraged Cody. Before any more words could be spoken, Cody decked Dustin with a hard right fist to the cheek! Dustin fell onto the couch but Cody continued the assault by reigning down more rights onto his own brother!

Alex Marvez screamed for help as a host of crew blew past the cameraman and into the office to pry the American Nightmare off of Dustin. Cody left the office as Jerry Lynn closed the door, leaving Marvez and the cameraman outside.

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Before the main event, the announce team ran down the card for next week's show, LIVE from the seas near Puerto Rico on the Jericho Cruise!

AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will defend the title against Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy and Lance Archer!

Kris Statlander will defend the AEW Women's World Championship against Dr. Britt Baker!

Jungle Boy will challenge MJF for the AEW TNT Championship!

Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara will reform Le Sex Gods as they take on Eddie Kingston and Santana in tag team action!

Hangman Adam Page will face Brian Pillman Jr. in what will surely be the first of many Elite vs. New Horsemen matchups!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

6. Adam Page def. Chris Jericho - In the main event of the Anniversary Edition of Dynamite, Hangman avenged his loss from All Out 2019 and defeated Le Champion! Hangman's Elite factionmates stayed ringside as Jericho's Inner Circle pals in Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager, recovered from his loss earlier, were also ringside. The match went 22 minutes and was fairly clean as the two groups ringside, who had the best feud in AEW so far, were more occupied with each other to actually interfere. Although there was no interference, there were distractions however, and the two who provided the biggest distractions were Eddie Kingston and Santana! The duo appeared on the entranceway at the end of the match, leading to Jericho barking at them from the ring only to turn around into a Buckshot Lariat from Hangman! That sealed the deal as he pinned him one-two-three to end the match!

Hangman celebrated with The Elite, The Inner Circle regrouped outside the ring, and Kingston and Santana erupted with laughter from the ramp as Dynamite went off the air!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

I have just got a bunch of stuff done in my personal life that was causing me to miss a lot of journals. I am back at it, and this is one I will be following from now on. Great writeups for the shows, good look and easy to read through. Will reserve comments on storylines/talent for a few weeks to really get what's going on, but know I'm here and you have another reader. Well done.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey everyone, I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who voted for this AEW diary in the Diary of the Year awards. I did not expect to see my name in the top 3 so much, and that is something I am extremely thankful for! I've said it a few times but the Austin Gunn storyline was a lot of fun to write. The Dark Order taking him, then Billy taking him back after going through the group one by one was great stuff to write. The Match Beyond was also a ton of fun to write, since it was the culmination of a year and a half long storyline between The Elite and The Inner Circle.

I put a complete list of the awards in the first post of this thread. Again, thank you all so much! I'm glad this brought some joy to the people reading!
