foolinc Posted July 16, 2021 Share Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) Wrestling is coming back to Texas! For the past couple of decades, Texas wrestling fans haven't had much to cheer for. They've seen their fair share of charity shows, had a few outlaw promotions come and go, and are "generously" visited by the national organization for a random spot show or TV taping. But, a promotion to call their own? That's been a pipedream since the territory was burned to the ground oh so long ago. But that pipedream is now a reality as Championship Wrestling STARS makes its debut! But what should you expect? Well, we've been able to get a hold of CWS color commentator, James Heatly, and this is what he had to say: "Championship Wrestling STARS, much like Texas, will be a melting pot. We understand Texas wrestling fans are diverse. Some love the colorful characters of AWF while others are more interested in the intricate mat work and hard hitting action that a promotion like PWI provides. There are also vocal subsets fan that want to see the high flying style from south of the border as well as others that want more high profile women's matches (thanks in large part to the rise of AWW Ultra). While I can't guarantee that we can be "the" promotion for everyone, I do feel like there will be enough for everyone to go home happier than when they came in." Backed by the recently formed Wisney Conglomerate, Championship Wrestling STARS seems like a promotion in it for the long haul. While the debut show feature a couple of names you might know, the card mostly features a large number of young hopefuls looking to make their names in the wrestling world with a venue and ticket price to match. I doubt we will be seeing this promotion run an arena any time soon, but that might be for the best. History has shown time and time again that too much, too soon is a recipe for disaster in the great state of Texas. Events have already been booked for Q1 with CWS confirmed to be coming to Austin, Dallas, and Houston. The promotion also promises to bring wrestling to the Lone Star State at least once a month for the foreseeable future. CWS Homecoming Captain Olympia II vs. Red Rock Captain Olympia is the future of Texas wrestling. Red Rock is not. Special FX vs. Starblazer Fortunately this is a best of three because I'd have no chance picking a favourite. I'm assuming whoever wins this loses the next one. "Miss Wrestling" Evie Cole vs. Fumi Sugimura Evie is a great prospect if you can keep AWW Ultra away! Matthew Callihan vs. Cosmos Could go either way really. Nacho Inferno & Hiryu vs. Night Ride Krew (Furious Dope & Skull Sucka) No one bets against Nacho Inferno and lives to tell the tale. El Cubano & El Hombre Loco vs. Kenny Rich & Jimmy Blanco Another tough one, but El Cubano Loco seem a more united team that Rich and Blanco.
