King of the Ring Semi Final

‘The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment’ The Rock vs. ‘The Man Beast Rhino

http://i49.tinypic.com/2eeh4pz.jpgvs.http://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpg

The first of the Semi Final’s pits the rising Rock against one of the most intense people to ever step into a WWF ring, Rhino. The Man Beast has been on the war path since joining the company and has impressed in his matches, especially this tournament. He has been known to keep himself to himself and let his devastating spear like gore do the talking, but on the last show he seemed to align himself with DX. The Rock on the other hand has really come into his shell since defeating Farooq and Wrestlemania and leaving The Nation. He is a natural on the mic and is quickly becoming hugely popular with the fans with his catchphrases. All this aside though and he is also a very competent wrestler in the ring. Rhino holds the power game, but with the millions of Rock’s fans cheering him on at ringside, could he tame the Man Beast?

King of the Ring Semi Final

‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. Triple H

http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8081/kenshamrockxt7.jpgvs.http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/497/tripleh2s.jpg

Shamrock will go into this match feeling very confident having beaten Triple H on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania, earlier this year. Since then though Triple H has shown tremendous ring awareness and psychology and knows how to beat his opponent. Shamrock has lost his Intercontinental Title, but he knows he can cut it with the best of them at the top and hasn’t really chased for it back. Both men have the ability to finish this in an instance, but which one will move into the final.

The E and C Invitational Extreme Tag Team Challenge

Edge and Christian vs. ???

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9236/edge2z.jpghttp://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7029/christian2.jpgvs.http://i33.tinypic.com/302107q.jpghttp://i33.tinypic.com/302107q.jpg

Edge and Christian began this interesting challenge a few weeks back and have since beaten Super Loco and Taka Michinoku and The Headbangers in a ladder match and a table match respectively. What match will they have in store for us on pay per view and who will be challenging them?

‘The Sick and Sadistic’ Terry Funk vs. Mankind

http://i50.tinypic.com/wcojfl.jpgvs.http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2192/mankind1998rs8.jpg

Earlier this year Mankind enjoyed his most famous moment of his career as he captured the WWF Title and defended it in the main event of Wrestlemania. He lost the belt at Mania and during his attempted reprisal of the belt, his best friend Terry Funk turned on him. He said it wasn’t Mick Foley he turned on, but it was Mankind and that he wanted his best friend back. He stated Mankind had gone soft and had to be destroyed. Funk has since beaten Mankind senseless backstage, but in this environment, with weapons not allowed, who really has the advantage?

King of the Ring Final

The Rock or Rhino vs. Ken Shamrock or Triple H

http://i49.tinypic.com/2eeh4pz.jpg or http://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpgvs.http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8081/kenshamrockxt7.jpg or http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/497/tripleh2s.jpg

The chance for one of these four men to receive a shot at the World Heavyweight Title at any time of their choosing within the next year, with such a big prize on the line, who will falter and who will step their game up to claim it?

Thirty Minute Ironman Match

Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs. Owen Hart

http://i47.tinypic.com/kamf5e.jpgvs.http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpg

A feud that started back when Bret turned on his own brother at the Royal Rumble will be coming to an end in perhaps one of the most grueling and fitting match choices in history. Both men and superb technicians and so similar it is untrue. Their stamina and performance are unrivalled and there is no doubt that both men will give everything in their enormous tanks to pull this one off. This war of the minds between brother has been intriguing to watch with Owen and Bret participating in a psychological battle which has mostly seen Bret prevail. Bret has also proven that he will do absolutely anything to finish his brother and the Hart name with it and even attacked his own 85 years old father. Anything could happen, and there is sure to be blood, sweat and tears with one of the most personal feuds in the history of the sport tied at one apiece. Something has to give in this eagerly anticipated blowoff match.

WWF World Tag Team Title Match

Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader © vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair

http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/346/bambambigelowku3.jpghttp://i48.tinypic.com/6xt7y0.jpgvs.http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpg

Steve Austin has attempted to make Vince McMahon life hell ever since the end of last year and for the most part has succeeded, but Vince has had many tricks up his sleeve most recently revealing a clause in the contract of Ric Flair stating he can strip of Commissioner duties which he did after Flair revealed he was allied with Austin all along. The Tag Team Champions have destroyed all challengers since they won the belts at Wrestlemania and with Vince formulating and carrying out a plot to take out both Austin and Flair before the match; the odds are firmly stacked in the favour of the colossal Champions.

WWF World Heavyweight Title Match

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels © vs. ‘The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpgvs.http://i36.tinypic.com/14ipjwz.jpg

After Shawn Michaels and Triple H survived a bloody and brutal hardcore tag match, The Undertaker made it known that he wanted the belt and would be the next challenger. The Undertaker has since played his habitual mind games which has resulted in Michaels being taken out numerous times and even when he hasn’t been at Raw it’s proven not be safe. Last week Michaels did just that and stayed at a hotel, but Undertaker broke in and tombstoned him in front of his women. With all the momentum decisively in favour of The Deadman will he be able to capitalize of his recent shaking up of Michaels and take the title for himself?

This is the first time I’ve done this so I’m hoping it goes down ok, but I’m going to offer out a predictions prize. I don’t think it’ll become a regular occurrence, but I might make it feature of the PPV’s depending on the response. Basically I have a number of tag teams (real and created) waiting in the wings and instead of unrealistically debuting them all at once I want to space their debuts out. The winner of the predictions for King of the Ring will be rewarded with inside information on the teams and decide what order they’d like to see them appear in the diary or even suggest a team of their own if they have a good idea. Now I figured we may need a tiebreak for this so I’ve added that in above.

<p><strong>Rose Garden Arena</strong></p><p>

<strong>Portland, Oregon</strong></p><p>

<strong>Backstage two hours before King of the Ring begins</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Vince McMahon is in his office with members of his booking team including, Jim Ross, Jim Cornette, Pat Patterson and Gorilla Monsoon. Their all sat around a rectangular table with Vince at the head. The room is very well kept and very luxurious as Vince appears to be asking his team for ideas and their thoughts on tonight’s card and recent improvement on the war with WCW. Vince McMahon sparked the debate.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t know about you guys, but I think we’ve built one hell of a card tonight, and WCW will be hard pressed to match this.” Vince seemed excited, WWF had been gaining in terms of ratings and buy rates this year and King of the Ring was a chance to close in even further.</p><p> </p><p>

“I genuinely believe we have a strong card all round,” Cornette replied, “We’ve got two matches that everybody is dying to see and their putting on Hogan and Savage which, in my opinion, is completely dry now, what more can those two do?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Don’t underestimate WCW and their ability to put on a show that their fans want to see,” Ross argued, they have two entertainers who know exactly how to excite their crowd and a very, very accomplished wrestler in Savage, we know those two will put on a good enough show and we just have to hope that Shawn and Mark will go out there and deliver something more spectacular.”</p><p> </p><p>

Vince took a big gulp of his coffee as he took everything in that his colleagues suggested. There was a very friendly, vibrant atmosphere in the WWF booking meetings. Everybody was given a chance to express their feelings and concerns and Vince listened to everybody equally. The final decision would obviously lie within his judgment, but if everybody wasn’t happy, then he wouldn’t do it.</p><p> </p><p>

“You have to think though,” Monsoon questioned, “Michaels or Hogan. Which would the majority of fans in the country prefer to see?”</p><p> </p><p>

Patterson intervened, “But we’re talking about a heel Hogan and a heel Michaels. You’ve seen it out there, no matter what how bad Michaels is, the ladies, well they just can’t get enough of him.” He paused a moment and looked at Vince. “Just like when we went against them with Mania this year, Vince, we have this in the bag, people just want to see our show more, if only for the air of revelation, they don’t know what to expect. We completely changed the face of professional wrestling when we turned Bret heel. Ok, maybe it wasn’t as big a deal as Hogan who had been nothing except a good guy, but it was the manner in which we did it that I think shocked so many people.”</p><p> </p><p>

Patterson sat back in his feeling he had got his point across well and Vince began to write down a few things. </p><p> </p><p>

“Guys, Vince said with a satisfied sound, I’m happy enough with the event tonight, but we know we’re not going to sell more than WCW, at least not yet anyway. I want to know the situation regarding Austin. Are we still in agreement with the plans?”</p><p> </p><p>

Without giving the others a chance, Paterson responded quickly, “I think we have to reassess the situation with Austin. I think the fans are waiting too long anyway, so let’s just make it happen already”.</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t agree, Pat,” Ross answered calmly, yet with a slightly disgruntled tone, “Austin himself has said he wants to do things this way and I think we need to take that on board. I mean the majority of us here are happy to proceed as planned, yeah?”</p><p> </p><p>

Everybody except Patterson nodded or muttered a sharp sound to agree with Ross.</p><p> </p><p>

“Vince I really think we’re fine with the Austin situation,” Ross continued, “If we keep questioning it then we’re gonna want to change it.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Ok, ok, we’ll leave Austin for now; does anybody else have any burning issues that they need to discuss?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Yes, Vince, I do have something,” Cornette answered astutely.</p><p> </p><p>

Cornette slides a piece of paper across the table to Vince as everybody as glances at each unaware at what is hidden on the paper. Vince’s eyes widen as he reads the paper and he looks up at Cornette wanting to know more.</p><p> </p><p>

“Yep, Vince, those guys WCW contracts are coming to an end this in the next six months and I think we need to do everything in our power to get, mainly, the ones I’ve circled here, no matter the cost.”</p><p> </p><p>

Monsoon takes the sheet off Vince and starts to examine it as though he’s reading the small print of a very important contract.</p><p> </p><p>

“Do you really think we could get him?” Monsoon asks pointing to a name on the list. “I mean, he’s earning a hell of a lot more money than we can offer him”.</p><p> </p><p>

“I’ve talked to Ric and he told me that the backstage atmosphere at WCW is terrible, it’s all politics. Most of those guys on the list would jump at the chance to come here. Him included.”</p><p> </p><p>

Monsoon turns away slowly looking happy enough with Cornette's response and looks to what Vince has to say on the matter.</p><p> </p><p>

“Well I think we have to go for it, Vince interjects, we could really use the talent on here to our advantage. Cornette, keep a close eye on things and make sure no contracts are offered, we’ll play dirty if we have to. It’s not like we wouldn’t be doing anything that hasn’t already been done to us.</p><p> </p><p>

He pauses, takes another swig of his coffee and addresses the booking team again.</p><p> </p><p>

“So I think that concludes out meeting today. Let’s keep things short and sweet, yeah, we might aswell all go get comfy and watch the show tonight. I don't think there's much more I really want to discuss at this moment.”</p>

WWF Presents… King of the Ring 1998

http://i48.tinypic.com/ve94l2.jpg

A video package plays presenting all four men involved in the Semi Final’s of the tournament, ‘The Man Beast’ Rhino, The Rock, Triple H and ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock and also explains the following points.

• The winner will receive a World Heavyweight Title shot to be used whenever they please within the next year.

• Raw will play host to the opening rounds with the Semi Finals and Final being held at the King of the Ring pay per view.

• The following night on Raw the King of the Ring will be crowned!

Once the video is finished we are greeted with a huge pyrotechnic display before the camera falls on lead announcer, Jim Ross who is sporting his traditional cowboy hat.

Ross: We’re here at the Rose Garden Arena in front of a sold out crowd and we’re live. This is King of the Ring and I’m Jim Ross joined at the booth by Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and Jim Cornette.

Cornette: The atmosphere is electric here tonight, JR, at least 20000 WWF fans are packed in tonight and ready to give us a night to remember.

Ross: What a show we have for you folks tonight. First up we will see who’ll make it into the final of the King of the Ring scheduled for later. Any thoughts on that?

Lawler: I’ve gotta go with Rhino. Did you see how dominant he was on Raw?

Ross: We also titles on the line, but none more important than the WWF Title because in tonight’s main event we have Shawn Michaels defending against The Undertaker. Two huge stars and two of the greatest performers in the world today. That one is sure to be a classic.

Cornette: Then you look further down the card and you see Bret Hart against Owen Hart in an Ironman match and you suddenly realize the quality and depth of the roster here. I mean that match will be off the chart and one of the greatest technical affairs you’re ever likely to see.

Ross: It’ll be completely different to their brawl at Over the Edge, there’s no doubting that.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera cuts backstage where a limo pulls up and out steps Owen Hart dressed in a stylish suit. He has a distinct look of concentration of his face as the other three members of The Hart Foundation come to greet him obviously making sure he’s safe for final encounter with Bret tonight.

Niedhart: How you doing, lad?

Owen: I’m fine, Jim. Never felt better. Tonight is going to change my career. Tonight will be the birth of a new Owen Hart. A tougher Owen Hart and most importantly a Champion. I’m going to do this for the Hart Foundation guys and after Bret, I’m going to take care of some unfinished business.

Owen strolls off elegantly in his classy attire and down into the heart of the arena heading for the Hart Foundation locker room. Niedhart, Bulldog and Storm follow as the camera cuts back to the announce booth.

Lawler: What does Owen mean? Unfinished business?

Ross: I’m not sure there Lawler, but I do know that Owen is as focused as I’ve ever seen him tonight and Bret needs to watch out.

Cornette: Bret is the best there is, JR, he’s The Hitman, and tonight he’ll stop the cancer that is Owen Hart, before it can spread even further into this company.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels are backstage ready for a double promo on their respective King of the Ring opponents.

Bret: So it’s come to this Owen. Thirty minutes. Ironman Match. The person who can get the most falls is the winner. I hope you’ve been drinking your red bulls because you’re gonna to need all the damn energy you can get tonight. I know 100% that tonight’s match won’t effect me. I lasted double this time period against one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step into this ring and your current WWF Champion.

Michaels: Thank you, Bret.

Bret: I was in that match for one hour and this man right here, the showstopper, couldn’t even get a fall on me, so what chance do you have Owen? Everybody knows you stole my finishing move, the move I made famous, the move that I mastered. Tonight I’m going to show you once and for all who the true master of the sharpshooter is when I make you tap as many taps as I feel like.

Michaels: Now I ain’t gonna stand here and tell you all that tonight I’m gonna whip The Undertaker’s ass and kick his teeth straight down his throat. No, because let’s face, you wouldn’t buy it. I wouldn’t buy it. I’d be lying to myself if I thought it was gonna be easy tonight. Now I will say that I am the man, the main event and tonight I can promise you one thing. Me and The Undertaker, we will steal the show, just like a bad blood, we’ll go out there and put on an iconic match.

He pauses and looks at Bret.

Michaels: Tonight it will just be me and The Undertaker, no Hunter, no Bret, no Outlaws, I don’t want anybody coming out here and helping me out. Your one scary dude Undertaker and if I could choose anybody to not have to face in this company it’d probably be you, but you want this belt…

Michaels takes the belt from his waist and shows it to the camera.

Michaels: You want MY belt and let me tell you this Undertaker, there are many that would never, EVER step in the ring with you, but I’ve done it and I’ve beaten you. I would be lying if I said I didn’t get a little tingling feeling when your music hits, but I am the man and tonight I will prove to each and every doubter that I am indeed the best wrestler, the best entertainer, tonight I will prove that I am your World Heavyweight Champion.

King of the Ring Semi Final

‘The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment’ The Rock vs. ‘The Man Beast Rhino

http://i49.tinypic.com/2eeh4pz.jpgvs.http://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpg

Whoever would walk out a winner here would ultimately have the advantage in the Final tonight. They would receive a longer rest than their opponent albeit not too long because the other Semi Final would be following this one, but maybe enough to obtain more focus and patch themselves up. One thing that each man had to guard against was a long drawn out match. Both men needed and wanted to get in the killer blow quickly, whether that was a rock bottom or a gore, the sooner it came the better.

The concentration fixed onto both wrestlers’ faces as they stood across from each in the ring was an interesting concept. This wasn’t something we had come to expect from The Rock. He wasn’t one for testing out him opponent with mind games before the match had begun, but with such a big prize on offer, a chance of a title shot, he wanted to make sure he knew exactly what he wanted to do before he did it. Rhino, on the other hand just stared at The Rock as if measuring him up for the gore, but he was smarter than that. He wasn’t going to throw his chances away by doing that too early.

As they hooked up it seemed that Rhino’s unwarranted attack on Owen Hart had created more heat for him, or that The Rock was just gaining popularity by the bucket load. It did seem that every night there was even more signs in the crowd regarding The Rock, nearly all positive. Rhino was definitely becoming a very credible heel, there was doubt about that. His intensively combined with his couldn’t care what people think about him attitude was just two of the factors contributing to that.

The match itself was very even and fast paced. The Rock soon returned to his electrifying persona and didn’t really use a very precise approach and Rhino just put every ounce of his strength into every move he hit The Rock with. The Rock managed to dodge many gore attempts throughout the match, but on one very unfortunate occasion Rhino caught him. His speed and tenacity was just too much and Rock was sent to the floor clutching his throbbing mid section. The gasped as Rhino covered.

One…

Two…

Th…

No! The Rock had his foot on the ropes!

Despite even more powerful punishment that Rhino dished out The Rock managed to recover and have a close fall of his own from a spinebuster. A back and forth started to brew with neither man gaining a foothold that was until The Rock drilled Rhino with the rock bottom and covered for the three count. There was no peoples elbow, but the crowd were only bothered about The Rock getting through and the possibility of seeing the move later.

Winner: The Rock

Match Rating: C

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Terry Funk appears to a chorus of boos on the titantron; beside him is Michael Cole who is clutching a microphone.

Cole: I’d like you to welcome my guest at this time, Terry Funk.

Additional and louder booing can be heard from the fans.

Cole: Terry, tonight you face Mankind, a former WWF Champion, a hardcore legend…

Funk scowls at Cole and snatches the microphone.

Funk: What the hell did you just say, boy?

Cole: A hardcore leg…

Funk: There is nothing hardcore about Mankind. NOTHING! You understand, boy, or maybe I’ll have to show you just who the hardcore legend around this place is?

Cole nods and continues with the interview, shaking a little with a few beads of sweat showing in his face.

Cole: ehh, Mr. Funk, sir, what are you thoughts on your match tonight with Mankind?

Funk: Well basically, boy, I think I’m gonna tear that ******* Mankind to shreds tonight and there’s not a damn thing that the freak can do about it. But he’s lucky. Mankind is lucky that in our match tonight weapons aren’t allowed, because I’m afraid there will be nothing hardcore about my performance and that sickens me. The things that I want to do to Mankind, well, I can’t do them justice without some form of brutalizer, you know something to rip his flesh, make him bleed. Tonight all I have is my fist.

He holds his taped up fist to the camera.

Funk: This fist WILL make Mankind bleed tonight. I won’t stop punching him in the face until blood is seeping through that disgraceful mask he wears. You mark my words, boy, I would kill Mankind out there if I had the equipment, but they won’t let me into a match like that. They told me they fear for the safety of Mankind and I laughed straight in their god damn faces. Fear for his safety? What kind of place is this? I got into this business so I could beat the living hell out of people and there would be no consequences. These fists will have to do; they’ll have to do the job because tonight it’s not about winning. I just want to cause you pain, that’s all I want to do and then and only then will I be satisfied because I just want to destroy you Mankind. I WILL destroy you Mankind!

Funk looks at Cole and hits him square in the face knocking him to the floor.

Funk: Bang, bang!

King of the Ring Semi Final

‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. Triple H

http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8081/kenshamrockxt7.jpgvs.http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/497/tripleh2s.jpg

The two combined for a great match at Wrestlemania which saw Ken Shamrock make his most impressive defence of his Intercontinental Title and tonight was no different. The two really brought the crowd into the match after an okay opener from The Rock and Rhino. Impressive matches weren’t really a rarity at the moment when they were featuring Triple H who basically just knew how to give the fans a rollercoaster ride.

Shamrock gained an early advantage with some stiff kicks and strikes and tried to utilize every bit of his MMA background to keep Triple H guessing in the early stages. This was a more effective approach from Shamrock because Triple H just didn’t have any answers. He wasn’t used to this kind of game and couldn’t muster up anything to counter it with. Shamrock soon reverted back to a traditional wrestling approach though and unintentionally gave Triple H a way into the match.

Triple H used everything at his disposal to wear down Ken Shamrock and frequently worked him over in the corner and on the ropes. He would also use a whole manner of dirty tactics just to add some insult to the punishment he was now giving Shamrock.

Triple H was probably playing things a little too methodical and never really attempted a pedigree which would certainly have sent him through. Instead he waited around and spent unnecessary time working the limbs of Shamrock with some holds. Maybe he was sending a message to The Rock, but he was also giving Shamrock chances along the way.

And there it was, almost inevitable. Shamrock caught Triple H unguarded and locked on the fearful ankle lock. If Triple H was able to break this and even make it through each second that Shamrock held the excruciating hold would surely have it’s toll in the Final. Triple H fought with everything he had, the first step was just to break the hold, he wasn’t even thinking about winning the match. Triple H’s hand was so close to the mat, so close from giving up, but as so many of these tremendous athletes so often do, he dug deep and stretched over to the rope to break the hold.

The damage was done and Triple H couldn’t even stand, he was like a baby deer taking its first steps, he needed the ropes for support. Shamrock came back with some impressive kicks and targeted Triple’s ankle at almost every opportunity.

Triple H managed to reserve an Irish whip and take Shamrock out with a Facebuster onto the knee. He went for the pedigree, Shamrock countered. No! Triple H kept on his feet. Pedigree!

Backstage, The Corporation are sat enthusiastically in their locker room as Vince McMahon runs through tonight’s plans to keep hold to of the tag team titles.

Vince: Ok you four are going to have to Austin and Flair out tonight. Kane hasn’t been with us for weeks now and to be honest I don’t really want to give him any orders. I’ll leave the decision of if he wants to stick with us to him.

Right, so tonight, I’ve changed the match stipulation to anything goes so you guys better beat up good or dammit, you’ll have me to deal with.

Angle: Boss, I’ll take both Flair and Austin out if I have to. Oh it’s true, it’s damn true.

Regal: When do you want us to get down to the ring then, Vince?

Vince: As soon as possible, just go down their and take one of them per team and you should have no problems.

Regal: Flair and Austin are very capable wrestlers though and they could have a plan themselves.

Vince: They don’t have a plan! And if you can’t keep the Titles on Vader and Bigelow with four on two then you need to seriously think about what you’re doing in this group. I don’t employ losers! I need a Corporate Champion and so far none of you have proven that you can do the damn job.

Alright we’re all clear on the plan so let’s just keep calm until later. Everyone get focused and make sure your ready!

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9236/edge2z.jpghttp://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7029/christian2.jpg

Edge and Christian hit the ring to a decent pop ready to address which team will come out to challenge them tonight.

Edge: Thank you all so much Portland, Oregon. Thank you!

Christian: It’s that time again. The E and C extreme challenge has come to pay per view and we have an exciting match for you tonight.

Edge: Oh we totally do bro, we totally do. Tonight in front of all you Edgeheads…

Christian: Edgeheads? Brother, we all know that these are my peeps.

Edge: We can share them bro, don’t worry. Tonight we’re to face another tag team in an ambulance match!

Christian: The rules are simple. Totally destroyed your opponents so much that we can throw them in an ambulance and lock the doors sending them straight off to the hospital.

Edge: So I guess we need some challengers. Who’s coming to face E and C?

The music of The Darkside hits and they enter the ring standing opposite to Edge and Christian. The two teams then wait patiently as an ambulance is brought into the arena and placed on the ramp. Ross alludes to the fact that this could potentially turn into a handicap match if The Jackal chooses to get involves because of the anything goes nature of the match.

The E and C Invitational Extreme Tag Team Challenge Ambulance Match

Edge and Christian vs. The Darkside w. The Jackal

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9236/edge2z.jpghttp://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7029/christian2.jpgvs.http://i28.tinypic.com/2d1s615.jpghttp://i30.tinypic.com/2qd31xy.jpg

The Jackal positions himself at ringside as all four men lock men quickly. For the first few minutes a decent wrestling affair was confined to the ring as both teams had some good offence, but it wasn’t long before weapons were introduced and the brawl escalated to the outside, both teams realised that this was their best option to win the match. They needed to really decapitate their opponents because the rules stated that both must be in the ambulance.

Although the match was by no means a technical affair both teams showed very impressive teamwork throughout which you would expect from two teams who are used to tagging with each other.

Since the WWF have given Edge and Christian more TV time and allowed them to start this challenge which has so far produced some exciting matches, the fans have really begun to dig their cool persona’s and were helping them to get over.

Blood was spilled not long into the match after Christian’s skull was cracked with a steel chair, but not long after both Darkside members were also bleeding quite badly. The Jackal saw this as a good time to intervene, but Edge was ready for him, he anticipated the interference well and speared The Jackal down onto the outside making the match a fair bout.

Both teams continued to brawl with no team looking likely to throw their opponents in the ambulance anytime soon. Edge and Christian constantly fed off the crowd who seemed to help them out of many predicaments throughout the match.

It was the team of Edge and Christian who began pushing for the win and Christian certainly helped their cause as he catapulted Gangrel into the back of the ambulance while Edge worked Vampiro over with many steel objects.

Christian opened both ambulance doors as he sensed the end of the match, but the break allowed Gangrel to recover slightly and he went downstairs on Christian with a lowblow. Edge saved his brother from punishment by cracking a chair over Gangrel’s back just as Christian was about to received a metal tray round the face. Christian caught the metal tray as Gangrel stood up in pain and dropkicked the tray into the face of Gangrel knocking him out cold. Christian tossed Gangrel into the back of the ambulance as Edge wrapped some more steel around Vampiro. Soon after Vampiro was tossed into the ambulance to join his tag team partner and Edge and Christian closed one door each and the ambulance set off out of the arena.

Winners: Edge and Christian

The Rock is standing backstage with new interviewer Kevin Kelly who is replacing Michael Cole after Funk’s attack on him earlier.

Kelly: Rock, earlier you beat…

The Rock holds his hand out in front of Kelly’s face and ushers him to point the microphone towards him.

The Rock: FINALLY… THE ROCK… HAS COME BACK… TO OREGON!!!

The Rock looks Kevin Kelly up and down and raises his eyebrow looking perplexed.

The Rock: Who in the blue hell are you? ..... What is your name?

Kelly: Errr, it’s…

The Rock: It doesn’t matter what your name! The only thing that matters is tonight The Rock goes out there and electrifies the millions (and millions) and millions of Rocks fans when he checks you’re big, disgusting nose direcally into the SMACKDOWN HOTEL Triple H!

Suddenly The Rock looks up and his eyes grow narrower. The camera moves further back and into picture walks Triple H to a chorus of boos.

Triple H: Well, well, well. Look what we have here. The Rock and his big mouth trying to scare me with his little words before our match.

The Rock: How dare you little jabroni interrupt the Rock! The Rock says this Triple H, you will be scared when The Rock takes that King of the Ring crown, shines it up real nice, turns that sumb***h sideways and sticks it straight up your candy ass!

Triple H: There you go again Rocky with your little catchphrases, but your forgetting that talking won’t win you King of the Ring. Now if you want I’ll take that crown and crack you round the head with it because I can guaran-damn-tee you that will hurt a lot more.

The Rock: Know your role and shut your mouth jabroni! Nobody cares about what you can do with a crown and The Rock thinks that nobody cares are you plain and simple. The Rock says that tonight, after he’s doing laying the smackdown on your candy ass, he will stand tonight, and watch as you kiss the people’s feet and beg for The Rock’s forgiveness and The Rock will say this, it’s too late for forgiveness jabroni. You will ALWAYS get your ass whipped by The Rock.

Triple H: That’s all well and good Rock, but you see your not gonna win tonight so your stupid plan won’t be going head. I’ll pedigree your ass to the mat because I’m just that damn good.

The Rock: You can pedigree The Rock to the mat all you want because that moves ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! Triple H, The Rock says that you have sucked in every one of your little King of the Ring matches and The Rock is gonna beat your monkey ass and then The Rock is going to go on to be crowned King of the Ring and The Rock is going to go on to face the Champion and after the dust has settled, after all the smoke has cleared, you will be able to hear the people chanting The Rock’s name.

The crowd burst a chant ‘Rocky’ in unison.

The Rock: Then The Rock is going to lay the smacketh down on whoever may be Champion when The Rock chooses to cash in his shot and then The Rock will become WWF Champion! If you smellll la la low… what The Rock… issss cooking!

‘The Sick and Sadistic’ Terry Funk vs. Mankind

http://i50.tinypic.com/wcojfl.jpgvs.http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2192/mankind1998rs8.jpg

Two best friends, two men who have a great deal of respect for each, but no more. Not after Terry Funk’s heinous attack on Mankind during the tag team match, not after Funk has told the world that he wants to destroy, kill Mankind, and not after the further attacks by the sadistic Terry Funk. You get the feeling that this one is a long way from over, whoever loses won’t lie down and whoever wins will just want to cause more pain.

Mankind, a former WWF Champion, had the hardcore icon Terry Funk reeling in the opening stages. He managed to brawl his way to an advantage and hit a running swinging neckbreaker to keep on top of things. This match type certainly favoured Mankind, that was no secret, Funk would be much more relaxed in a hardcore environment, a match where blood would be inevitable and pain would be expectant, but here in a normal wrestling ring with no weapons, it was Mankind who had Funk’s number.

Funk though was as tough as they come and he continued to battle through Mankind’s offence and managed to create a full blown fist fight using the fist that he had promised would cut Mankind open tonight. As Mankind landed a hard hook, Funk decided to deviate from this strategy and floor his former friend with a running forearm to the head. Texas Cloverleaf applied by Funk! What an excruciating hold applied by the master of hardcore. Mankind tried to fight it, but Funk had the hold attached expertly, there was nowhere for Mankind to go. His legs, his back, his stomach were all in a world of pain as Funk stretched back a little further. As Mankind’s hand was about to hit the mat, Funk released the hold to the shock of the crowd.

Lawler:
What is Funk thinking? He could have won right there!

Ross:
He doesn’t care about winning, King, he said it himself. He just wants to hurt Mankind.

Mankind, wobbly legged, was up on his feet with the help of Terry Funk who had to hold him. Double arm DDT from Mankind! He hit that from nowhere. Funk looked out of it, but Mankind slumped to the mat aswell and couldn’t make the cover straight away. After some five or six seconds he finally draped his arm over Funk’s chest.

Kick Out!

Mankind picked Funk after, frustrated after the kickout and swung him into the corner hard. Mankind ran at Funk who stepped aside allowing Mankind to crash into the corner. Hip toss by Funk. Funk came back with a running elbow to the face and then sat on the stomach of Mankind. He lifted Mankind’s head up by his hair and with his right hand continued to brutalize Mankind with sick punches, just as he promised. A sick, twisted smile overcame Funk as he looked at the white tape on his fist which was no longer white. He had made Mankind bleed. He stood up and bent over insulting Mankind by slapping him on both cheeks, but Mankind came back with a big kick to the sternum.

Mankind was up quickly and immediately looked to his bleeding head. This seemed to anger mankind who ran at Funk who was tied up in the ropes and both men went crashing over the top rope onto the outside.

Ross:
Bah gawd, all that weight over the top rope. I think they’ve dinted the floor!

Funk hit Mankind with some fast right hands before sending him down with a big left hook. He picked Mankind up and launched him through the steel barricade which fell down. Funk made his way back to the ring as the referee counted.

Funk stepped outside into an eye rake from Mankind. He still didn’t feel he had caused him enough pain and wanted to hurt his former best friend even more. Mankind rolled Funk back into the ring and threw Funk into the corner. Mankind worked Funk into the tree of woe position and ran at him hitting a double axe handle which sent Funk falling off the turnbuckle. Mandible Claw to Funk! Funk had been caught with his most hated move; a move that he branded a joke was wearing Funk down. Funk was fading fast and couldn’t muster up enough strength to break the hold after all the punishment he had taken. Funk was out of it and the referee began to drop the hand.

King of the Ring Final

The Rock vs. Triple H

http://i49.tinypic.com/2eeh4pz.jpgvs.http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/497/tripleh2s.jpg

After all the words exchanged between The Rock and Triple H tonight and in recent weeks it all came down to this match. One match to crown the King of the Ring and potentially create a new superstar in the process. Although the match itself was impressive and well structured you got the feeling that somewhere down the road there was more to come from these two, an epic encounter sometime in the future. Maybe it was that neither had really come into their shell yet, neither had had that World Title run, or simply because with an already stacked uppercard they didn’t want to burn out the fans here. There weren’t an enormous amount of near falls, it wasn’t an overly exciting bout, but it was solid enough. It served its purpose of getting the crowd pumped up for a classic between two brothers well and that was all that mattered.

After several minutes of fist fights, turnbuckle action and plenty of even offence, Triple H begun to show why he was such a bright wrestling prospect. He was slow and systematic in his approach, but that was what made great wrestlers. The Bret Hart’s, the Rocky Steamboat’s they all carried this approach. They never went all out in the opening exchanges, they built the match up, they wore their opponent down, they picked a weak spot and stuck to it and that was what Triple H was doing very effectively with The Rock.

The Rock relied heavily on the fans, his people. He would muster up strength when it didn’t seem possible and fight back with a flurry of punches which had the crowd on their feet. It was vital that The Rock didn’t electrify the fans too much and what Triple H did brilliantly was he knew when to take control again and allow the fans to settle down.

Triple H began a tirade of attacks against the legs of The Rock which is always a huge target for any wrestler just because it can, if done correctly, incapacitate them for the remainder of the match and take much of their explosiveness which for The Rock was something he depended on.

The Rock’s attempts of fighting back to this point had been thwarted, but this time he got it countering as Triple H whipped him into the ropes and as he attempted a back body drop received a punt to the head instead. The Rock then picked up an unsteady Triple H and dropped him with a spinebuster.

Both men were down, but The Rock soon leapt to his feet in electrifying fashion and stood above the head of Triple H signaling for the people’s elbow. He threw the wristband into the crowd and ran at the ropes, but as he bounced off them there was Triple H, the crafty, devious Triple H with a back body drop that worked. He picked The Rock up hoisted him up for a suplex managing great elevation on the 275 pounder. Triple H covered looking to end things.

Triple H picked The Rock and whipped him into the ropes, but The Rock exploded off the ropes and used all his force and weight to send Triple H down as he flew through the air. The Rock was instantly on his feet and over the head of Triple H once more. The arms crossed and the other wristband flew into the crowd and into the hands of one lucky fan. The Rock ran at the ropes and catapulted off them and delivered a highly anticipated, uninterrupted peoples elbow to the delight of everybody in attendance especially King who was marking out like a Hulkamaniac in the 80’s. Rock quickly covered and JR started that this was over.

A video plays on the titantron warming the crowd up for the personal, bitter feud between two brothers. It shows:

• Owen Hart celebrating after overcoming his brother on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania, in an exhausting match.

• Bret Hart’s merciless actions at Over the Edge as he put the sharpshooter on his own father just to get a relentless Owen to say ‘I quit’.

• Bret refusing to face his brother again stating he wanted to move onto bigger and better things.

• The following week where Owen convinced Bret to face him in one final match, then The Outlaws attacking him, but Owen anticipating Bret would do something like that and his men saving him quickly.

• Bret distracting Owen resulting in a defeat to Jeff Jarrett and then leading Owen into a trap backstage.

• Bret outsmarting Owen once again leading him to believe Jim Niedhart has been taken out, but only Rhino was waiting for him backstage ready with a gore.

Thirty Minute Ironman Match

Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs. Owen Hart

http://i47.tinypic.com/kamf5e.jpgvs.http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpg

This was it. The culmination of one of the most anticipation feuds in history, one of the most bloody, intense rivalries fuelled by Owen Hart’s revenge. You could see it in his eyes as he entered, Owen was so focused that he didn’t even acknowledge the fans as they gave him probably the biggest pop of his career. Nothing changed on his face as he awaited the arrival of Bret Hart. To say that Bret received heat would be an understatement. A completely new word would need to be created to do justice to the hot reception that Bret was greeted with. He had played his role perfectly and was quite possibly the biggest heel in the company. There was probably only his die hard Canadian following that wanted him to win tonight. Everybody else was on the side of Owen Hart.

The two brothers engaged each other, both staring into the others eyes, both with their meanest look etched on their face and the referee could only watch as they went nose to nose. Bret was talking smack as saliva was flying from the legendary figures mouth. Owen stood there and didn’t budge an inch. Bret, showing a complete lack of respect, slapped his brother right across the face which lit a fire deep under Owen. The fans erupted as Owen unleashed with intense rights and lefts exploding from the slap Bret dished out. The war had begun, the next half an hour would be grueling, but neither man could afford to let their guard down for one second.

The hard punches had hurt Bret and he had to try and get outside to rest and recuperate, but Owen wouldn’t let him. He pulled Bret back by the leg as he tried to escape and lifted into in the air dropping it from a great height which impacted on the knee of The Hitman. A quick snap suplex by Owen was followed by a side waistlock as we got a glimpse of the technical array of moves that has made Owen such a dangerous wrestler to get into the ring with. He can pick apart an opponent with the best of them and if anybody doubted him then all they had to do was look at the tape from Wrestlemania.

With plenty of time still remaining and no need to rush things Owen was meticulously working away at Bret and most importantly not making any mistakes. He kept Bret grounded and made sure he was in close contact with him at all times.

A mistake did occur on the part of Owen though and the veteran Bret didn’t require a second opportunity. Owen tossed Bret into the turnbuckle shying away from his mat game and tried to follow up hard, but all he managed to do was bounce into the turnbuckle as Bret very astutely waited for the vital second and then spun out of harms way. Bret followed up with a drop toe hold and then a pendulum backbreaker as Bret stretched Owen out over his knee.

Bret began to expertly work over the legs of Owen Hart, stretching the muscles in innovative and precarious ways which was all leading the sharpshooter which would be much more effective after this careful assault. As Bret posed to the crowd’s displeasure, Owen suddenly rolled up his brother with an inside cradle.

Bret broke the pinning predicament, but it was a testament to Owen who was still fighting and aware that Bret wasn’t taking things as seriously as he could. That near fall changed him and he started laying his boot hard into the ribs of his brother and dropped his elbow into his face aswell. Bret picked Owen up and kicked him hard in the midsection. As Owen panted for breath Bret tucked his head underneath his arm and dropped him with a DDT.

Owen kicked out much to Bret’s frustration. Again he laid his boot hard into Owen catching him in the face on occasion and picked him straight back and hitting an excellent vertical suplex. Bret locked in a side headlock and continued to wear down his brother. Owen found a way out of the headlock and rolled over flipping Bret away. Both were up to their feet at a similar time and started to trade blows. Bret got the upperhand once again with knee to the face and out of nowhere hit a devastating cradle Piledriver as Owen flunked to the mat.

No! Owen shows his tremendous resolve and kicks out once again infuriating Bret further. He flipped and stomped away at the legs of Owen and then took them both in his hands. He crossed over and there it was. The sharpshooter. Bret’s faced grimaced all screwed up as he enjoyed causing his brother this pain. Owen tried many techniques to break the hold, but everyone of them, Bret had an answer for. Owen’s hand was dangerously close to the mat as the fans willed him on. One final push from Bret as he leant back increasing the pressure on the legs and Owen decided to that if he wanted to salvage anything from this match he needed his legs to do it.

First Fall:
Bret Hart

Bret couldn’t hide his delight at gaining a huge advantage with the first fall even as the crowd loudly expressed their anger. The referee allowed Owen to stand up face to face with Bret before ringing the bell for the match to continue. Bret charged at Owen thinking he was out of it, but Owen ducked the onrushing Bret and tossed him over the ropes as he banged his head on the announce table.

Owen, barely able to stand began a long climb of the turnbuckle and stalked Bret who was just getting to his feet. Owen dived from the top rope and had the fans in awe as he connected with a crossbody. Both men were down, but Owen was stirring. He used the apron for support and stumbled to a vertical base. He brought Bret back into the ring and hooked the leg.

Both men stumbled to a wide vertical base and began trading slow, sloppy blows until Owen’s legs broke down and he collapsed in a heap as the crowd gasped. Bret moved over and stomped away at Owen’s legs before helping him up and practically carrying over to the turnbuckle. Bret stomped away at the chest of Hart before leaving his boot in there and pushing hard and then hit a perfectly performed low dropkick as Owen slumped further down in the corner.

Bret went straight back to work working his brother some more in the corner before hoisting him onto the turnbuckle and hitting him with some vicious, precise punches holding his head with one hand to increase the accuracy.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.

Owen began to fight back and had Bret teetering backwards. He lifted Bret onto his shoulders and connected with a sitout powerbomb from the second rope! Owen kept the hold locked in deciding not to waste time going for a different pinning variation.

Second Fall:
Owen Hart

The referee stopped and restarted the match for the second time as all Bret’s early work had been undone from one innovate piece of work from his brother. The scores were tied and both men had given everything they could.

There was no strategy, no methodical build up, and the technical wrestling we had seen earlier and at Wrestlemania had been discarded. Bret stood up clutching his back as Owen had a similar problem with his legs. The traded blows once again and Owen ducked a particularly nasty hook from Bret and went around connecting with a german suplex further destroying the back of his brother. Bret was down and Owen was only thinking one thing.

He had hold of the legs as the crowd rejoiced in anticipation of Owen making his brother tap. He folded over the legs and turned Bret over and there it was. Owen had finally locked in a sharpshooter of his own. Bret writhed in agony trying a whole manner of different countered, but Owen was equal to them all. Suddenly he reached back with his hand and twisted his body pulling Owen off balance and onto the mat breaking the hold. Bret quickly rose trying to forget about the unbearable pain he was in and turned Owen over for a sharpshooter of his own. Owen, seeing Bret had the sharpshooter in its early stages, twisted around and flipped under Bret and then kicked him off into the turnbuckle. Bret stumbled back off the turnbuckle as Owen jumped up. Enzuigiri from Owen Hart. Owen used everything he had to hit that move and now he along with his brother was looking up at the roof of the Rose Garden Arena. The referee had no choice and began a second ten count of the match.

Owen, with the help of the ropes, was back on his feet. He looked down at a motionless Bret with a distinct look of hatred and wobbled over to the turnbuckle climbing it in the process, a move which was questioned by the announcers. He waited patiently for Bret to stand up and then flew elegantly from the very top and attempted the execution of a missile dropkick. Bret stumbled backwards into the ropes as the kick narrowly missed him and caught Owen’s legs as he fell to the mat. As quick as a cat Bret locked in the sharpshooter for an astonishing third time in the match. There wasn’t much time left, but the ask was enormous. Owen already in impossible amounts of pain had to survive the hold and even then it wouldn’t be over.

The clock was ticking down second by second, but it seemed longer to Owen who was really in excruciating pain as Bret was keeping good on his promise that he would show what a master of the sharpshooter could do with the move. He really had it down to a tee. Bret leant back and crouched further down as Owen screamed louder. From this position the hold was even more painful and how Owen was holding out this long was incongruous. To tap at this moment in the match was not an option though. Bret knew that Owen would fight it all the way to the bell and Owen knew that Bret was trying to make him pass out.

Thirty seconds remained as Owen started to fade, his eyes closed and Bret demanded the referee drop his arm.

It dropped once.

It dropped twice.

The crowd exploded as Owen’s hand stayed still, trembling. With every ounce of fight that was left in his heart he rolled through breaking the hold and catching Bret with a small package. Six seconds remained as the referee began to count!

One…

Four seconds.

Two…

Two seconds. Can he do it?

Three!

Third Fall:
Owen Hart

The bell sounded and the crowd went crazy as Owen had taken the victory in such an impressive and exciting fashion. Owen had won the exhausting battle. He had won the war.

Winner by two falls to one, Owen Hart

Match Rating: A

Bret stood up in a state of shock, his face told the whole story. He couldn’t believe how Owen pulled that off. Owen crawled over to the ropes, his legs in agony, and hoisted himself up before stumbling into the centre of the ring dropping onto his knee at times. Bret stared at Owen who collapsed onto his knees again. Ross was screaming from the announce booth for Bret to let Owen have his moment of glory while Cornette wanted Bret to finish Owen off. He stood there as the crowd waited with baited breath not knowing what Bret was going to do. Finally he nodded his head a few times at the fallen warrior and exited the ring.

You could sense that all Bret wanted to do was congratulate his brother, share a heartfelt hug in the centre of the ring, but that wasn’t possible. He showed him the greatest amount of respect he could without completely breaking kayfabe.

Ross: Bah gawd what a performance, what an effort by both men. Good god almighty I don’t think Owen will ever walk again.

Cornette: Why the hell didn’t Bret just finish Owen off there? Lock on the sharpshooter again and break his damn legs.

Ross: Owen earned Bret’s respect tonight Jim that’s why, I don’t agree with what he’s done and quite frankly some of his actions have been downright disgraceful, but that was the real Bret Hart right there.

The camera goes backstage into the locker room of Degeneration X where Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are helping Shawn Michaels to warm up for his tough Title defence against The Undertaker. They both have pads on as Michaels is warming up his arms with some accurate, hard punching. Triple H bursts through the door and without even acknowledging Michaels just walks off in a tantrum to the showers punching the wall as he goes. Michaels tries not to be fazed by his friend’s dramatic entrance and carries on punching the pads of The Outlaws.

A short video package airs highlighting the bitter, hatred between ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Vince McMahon. It shows:

• Austin revealing Corporation member Ric Flair as his tag team partner at Over the Edge.

• Vince halting their momentum before it began exposing a clause in WWF Commissioner Flair’s contract where Vince can relieve him from his duties if he sees fit.

• Regal and Angle interfering to cost Flair and Austin a tag match and then, with Kane, taking them out post match.

• DX and The Corporation coming to an agreement in their six man tag match which saw DX isolating Ric Flair while Kurt Angle Angle slammed Austin off the stage and onto the concrete.

• The Tag Team Champions taking matters into their own hands and attacking Flair at the end of the show after he lost to Kane.

• Austin returning, battered and bruised, to save Flair from further punishment and drive the Tag Team Champions of the ring.

Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader © vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair

http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/346/bambambigelowku3.jpghttp://i48.tinypic.com/6xt7y0.jpgvs.http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpg

The change in stipulation came as no surprise as it obviously plays into the advantage of the Tag Team Champions. Obviously one main change would the allowance of interference which also not encouraged, cannot be abolished. The entrance of Ric Flair was greeted with the usual pop and a large magnitude of ‘Woooo’s’, but nobody could rival the pop that Austin received from this 20000 strong, hot crowd who nearly blew the roof off upon his arrival.

They wasted little time in locking up as all four men engaged in a fully fledged fist fight in the centre of the ring. Flair ended up chopping Bigelow in the corner whereas Austin continued to unleash with brutal rights and lefts on Vader. You could sense that somewhere backstage Vince McMahon was already readying The Corporation to come out and effectively make this match four on two and it didn’t take long for them to come down.

Kurt Angle
and
William Regal
strode slowly to the ring as the crowd booed their entrance. Austin looked up with a look of disgust and grabbed a chair from ringside. He ran at Angle and Regal whose faces were a picture as they saw Austin sprinting towards them wielding steel. They tried to head back up the ramp, but they ran into each other and fell to the ground. Austin gave them no sympathy and laid into both of them with chair shot after chair shot.

Austin looked up again and noticed Flair getting destroyed in the ring by the two monsters and headed that way leaving Regal and Angle in a heap on the floor. Bang! Austin cracked the chair over Vader’s skull and then dug it into Bigelow’s ribs. With all four members of The Corporation down Austin raised the chair in the air eliciting a huge pop from the crowd.

Soon enough though the numbers game started to tell and Flair and Austin were being worked over by all four men. Angle was at the forefront, obviously wanting to impress Vince, and took charge of the demise Austin by suplexing him close to ten times throughout the match in a whole manner of different innovative ways. On the other side of the ring Vader nearly crushed Flair as he flew off the second rope hitting splash as the crowd voiced their anger at this iniquitous situation.

Austin and Mankind fought back many times, but couldn’t generate the fast offence to keep all four men off their backs. The brawl had surfaced to the outside as Angle and Regal tried to remind everybody of how they took Austin out before and tried to do the same thing again, but Austin fought it with an enormous right hand to Regal and a quick stunner to Angle that had the crowd popping loud. Austin sprinted to the ring as the crowd exploded. He stunned Bigelow and then hit punch after punch onto Vader until he was caught in the ropes and then stunner! Flair stumbled to his feet as Austin was dragging Bigelow into the centre of the ring. He gave Flair some instructions and then rolled Vader onto the outside and came to meet Regal who was rushing to the ring. Lou Thesz press on Regal and a multitude of punches followed.

Flair grabbed the legs of Bigelow in the ring and between to strut as the crowd could sense what was coming. Flair locked on the figure four leglock as Austin, now wielding the steel chair from earlier, was defending the ring. Bigelow fought for as long as he could, but had to tap. We have new Tag Team Champions!

Winners and new WWF World Tag Team Champions, Steve Austin and Ric Flair

Match Rating: B

Ross: We have new Tag Team Champions! I can only imagine the anger of Vince McMahon backstage.

Lawler: What a battle from Austin and Flair! How did they do that!?!

Flair collected the belts from ringside and he and Austin both made their way to the backstage area. The Corporation’s feeble attempts to stop them were thwarted by Austin and his chair and Flair and the Title’s. At the head of the stage Flair handed Austin his Title and they both raised them into the air as the crowd made their delight known.

A video montage plays on the titantron preparing the crowd for the main event between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker for the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Title. It shows:

• Undertaker appearing at the end of Raw making it known to Michaels that he wants the belt.

• Michaels playing a trick on the crowd by starting Undertaker’s music and then saying he was too scared to come down.

• Undertaker taking out both Michaels and Triple H moments later.

• Michaels phoning Bret telling him he’s not attending Raw and is instead in a hotel down the road.

• Undertaker breaking into Michaels’ hotel room and attacking him while his girls ran to the bathroom for cover.

WWF World Heavyweight Title Match

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels © vs. ‘The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpgvs.http://i36.tinypic.com/14ipjwz.jpg

Michaels had promised that tonight he would once again steal the show and there among the 20000 strong in attendance was an air of expectation for what was about to follow. Shawn Michaels received his usual mixed reaction as the ladies couldn’t resist cheering for their man despite his heel status. The Undertaker’s entrance was the usual lengthy, slow phenomenon that was solely designed to psyche out his opponents before the match and was the final mind game of many.

One Phenom, one Showstopper and the biggest prize in the business on the line.

The bell rang and Undertaker set off out of the blocks to the surprise of Michaels. He threw him into the corner with huge force and began striking Michaels in the face and chest like only The Undertaker can. Michaels ducked one particular punch and turned the tables hitting Undertaker with some vintage knife edge chops designed to take his breath away and redden The Deadman’s chest into submission.

Michaels tried to whip Undertaker into the opposite turnbuckle, but Undertaker countered and whipped Michaels into it. He followed up hard completely crushing Michaels who wobbled out of the corner as Taker picked him up and dropped him on the ropes following up with the big boot. Undertaker hoisted Michaels up and attempted a Chokeslam, but Michaels reserved into a DDT.

With Undertaker grounded Michaels now had a chance to invoke some strategy into the proceedings and immediately targeted lower body of Undertaker which is the source of his tremendous power. He attacked the knee with hard kicks and then locked on a side headlock, but Undertaker countered lifting Michaels up for a side suplex, but Undertaker too fell to floor buckling under the pressure put on the knee which Michaels so smartly attacked earlier.

Both men rose and backed off from each other as the crowd began to cheer the opening exchanges. Michaels was looking for the opportunity to go back to the knee while Undertaker was trying to fight Michaels off that particular area. Undertaker’s long reach allowed him to toy with Michaels easier and get some quick punches in before Michaels could do anything. Michaels showed quick quickness and agility by ducking below Undertaker and diving straight at his knee taking Undertaker down in height. Michaels took a few steps back and ran at Undertaker, but Taker stood up and picked Michaels up hitting a sidewalk slam and then going for the first cover of the night.

One…

Two…

Michaels kickout out and it was clear that Undertaker would need to do a lot more than that to win the title tonight.

The momentum shifted back and forth with Undertaker using his power to strike Michaels in the corner, but whenever the Champion was in any genuine danger he would go straight back to the knee which was clearly leaving The Deadman in some discomfort.

Undertaker managed to tie his opponent in the ropes and clotheslines him over the top and onto the outside. Michaels stumbled around the ring as Undertaker began look from Michaels to the ropes. Bang! He set off into the ropes at great speed, but Michaels sensed the danger once again and slid into the ring under the legs of Undertaker who had to stop suddenly at the ropes and gather his whereabouts. A subsequent dropkick from Michaels into the back of The Undertaker sent him crashing to mat on the outside.

Michaels quickly leapt to the top turnbuckle and raised the voices of the fans as he flew off executing a moonsault onto the now standing Undertaker. The referee began to count the two entertainers out.

5

Michaels stood up, but seemed to realise that a count out here would keep the Title around his waist.

6

7

No movement from Michaels.

8

Then reluctantly he rolled into the ring to reduce the noise being produced from this rabid crowd who were jeering Michaels while he was making his decision.

Ross:
Michaels said that there would be no tricks tonight, no interference, but for a moment I thought he was taking the coward’s way out.

Cornette:
Michaels could have quite easily done that and I think it’s a testament to the respect that Michaels has for The Undertaker. He promised us a show stealing match tonight and if he’d have stayed out of the ring he wouldn’t have delivered on that promise.

Undertaker returned to the ring as Michaels quickly stomped away while he was still on the floor. He grasped Undertaker’s feet and looked to be locking in a figure four leglock, but Undertaker powered Michaels into the ropes with his one good leg and then as Michaels was tied up in the ropes cannoned off the opposite rope and hit a devastating clothesline with sent both men onto the outside. Undertaker was up first and picked Michaels up in a bear hug position. He ran at the ringpost which stood perfectly still as Michaels back could not move it. Undertaker positioned Michaels with his head hanging off the apron and connected with a vicious legdrop with great elevation. Michaels brought a hand to his throat immediately and began coughing and spluttering.

Undertaker came back in the ring to break up the referee ten count and picked Michaels up whipping him into the ropes. Michaels came back and sprung himself into the Undertaker knocking both men to the ground. Michaels lay perfectly still until suddenly in typical Michaels fashion he leapt to his feet and grasped The legs of Undertaker. Did he get it? Yes he did! Figure four leglock locked on! Undertaker roared in pain as Michaels had the hold locked on hard in the centre of the ring. As Michaels sat up a little bit Undertaker cracked him with a right hook, but Michaels just laid down and started bending the ankle aswell. This was torture for the leg of The Undertaker, but nobody could argue with the strategy shown by Shawn Michaels. Undertaker was fading and fell with his back to the mat.

One…

Two…

Undertaker gritted his teeth and sat back up breaking the pinfall. Undertaker’s eyes became fierce and using everything he could muster he rolled over forcing Michaels to release the hold.

Both men stood up together and began an old fashioned slug fest, but this was a position that Michaels did not want to be in. He dodged a punch and then began chopping away at The Undertaker’s chest once again effectively creating a purple colour instead of the red it was showing earlier. Undertaker caught Michaels arm and twisted it behind his back and began making inroads towards the turnbuckle. He climbed and then acrobatically walked to the middle of the ropes. Old school! The move had the fans chanting in unison for The Undertaker. He drew out his finger and drove it across his neck signaling the end of Shawn Michaels. He picked the Champion up looking for a tombstone, but Michaels slid down the Deadman’s back and pushed him away. Sweet Chin Music! No! Undertaker caught the leg in mid air and spun Michaels around on the spot. Michaels, now dizzy, was susceptible and Undertaker sensed he could finish him off. Chokeslam! This is it!

One…

Two…

Thhrr…

Undertaker sat up in a state of shock as the resolve of Michaels became evident. He raised his shoulder off the canvas at the last moment salvaging his Title reign. Undertaker ascended the top rope and held out his hand looking to go high risk on Michaels. Michaels stumbled to his feet with help from the ropes and turned around. Undertaker dived off the rope and into Sweet Chin Music!!! Undertaker eyes were closed as he lay there while Michaels tried desperately to make the cover. Finally he draped a lifeless arm over Undertaker.

Two…

Thhrrrr…

JR was screaming his famous catchphrase into his headset as Undertaker kicked out, perhaps only on instinct, but he kicked out all the same. Michaels couldn’t believe it. He thought his Title was safe there.

On their feet were both men again, trading slow blows with neither really knowing where they were. Huge uppercut from Undertaker and now with Michaels on his should the sold out crowd could sense the end. They were all on their feet as Undertaker delivered the Tombstone Piledriver and everybody at ringside were counting with the referee as Undertaker folded over Michaels arms.

One…

Two…

Thr…

Michaels placed his foot on the ropes! Undertaker couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. He threw Michaels out to ringside and flipped throwing the cameras from the announce table aside. With evil intentions in mind he turned to face Michaels. Sweet Chin Music! Out of nowhere! Undertaker stumbled backwards onto the announce table that he had readied for Michaels.

Michaels slid back into the ring to break up the referee’s count and stood on the apron looking at the motionless Undertaker lying in such an inviting position in front of him. You could see Michaels take one huge, deep breath and then jumped up onto the second rope bouncing off and twisting in mid air, falling down on the Undertaker with the force breaking the announce table and eliciting a deafening chant of ‘holy s**t’ from the extremely hot crowd.

Lawler:
Oh my god! Michaels is broken in half!

Ross:
What about The Undertaker he’s out cold! Good god almighty how can they recover from this carnage?

The referee reluctantly began a ten count with both men immobile on the floor at ringside.

Winner and still WWF World Heavyweight Champion, Shawn Michaels via double count

Match Rating: A*

Ross: Bah gawd! What a match! What a pay per view!

Cornette: I don’t believe how much those two gave to be the WWF Champion.

Ross: It’s unfair that Michaels retained his Title through a count out, but when you give as much as he did tonight then it would be unfair to see him loose the belt.

Lawler: What a performance! Michaels was true to his word!

After the match The Outlaws and Rhino rush down to the ring. It looks like DX wants to get rid of the problem that is Undertaker before he can do any damage to his title reign. The Undertaker gets to his feet and launches an assault on DX as Michaels cowers at ringside anxiously awaiting as Undertaker continues to throw punches at Rhino and The Outlaws. Bang, Undertaker sends Gunn over the top rope with a huge big boot, and there goes Road Dogg also over the top rope, but by a clothesline. Undertaker turns around to take care of Rhino. Gore! The tenacious Rhino had struck much to Michaels delight at ringside. He was now sporting a huge smile as he stumbled back into the ring with a steel chair and began plotting The Undertakers downfall. It was clear that Michaels would do anything to keep hold of the coveted WWF Championship.

Suddenly dark red lights gleam all over the arena and very familiar music strikes up.

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpg

Kane comes rushing down to the ring taking out both Outlaws at ringside before sliding into the ring.

The fans go crazy as The Big Red Monster cleans house sending both Rhino and Michaels crashing out of the ring and then he moved over to The Undertaker. The bitter rivalry that ended at Wrestlemania was still fresh in the minds of the fans and they didn’t know what to expect. The crowd were stunned as Kane offered out his hand and helped his half brother to his feet before exiting the ring.

Ross: Bah gawd! Kane came to the aid of The Undertaker. After all he’s done to get rid of his brother, he helps him against DX.

Cornette: Havee theeeeyyyy joined forces? I’m speechless! This is too much.

Lawler: Can you imagine if they have? The WWF will never be safe again.

Ross: I guess we’ll find out tomorrow night on Raw is War because that’s all we have time for here at King of the Ring 1998. We’ll see you tomorrow night folks.

I just felt that the two main matches on the card really needed a long drawn out write up because they both received great grades in the game.

What’s all that Racket?!? With Jim Cornette

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4195/cornette.jpg

Hi, I’m Jim Cornette, the best announcer in the business currently employed by the best promotion in the business, the World Wrestling Federation, and this is my new blog which I’m going to release for the eyes of the wrestling world every month on the night that the WWF kicks WCW’s ass with another Pay Per View spectacular.

Now I want to dive straight in there and talk about King of the Ring and the Great American Bash and ask how the hell did the latter receive the most buy rates. We’ve got guys busting their ass night in and night out and WCW has a boat load of jackasses parading round like they own the damn place. Guys like ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Eric Bischoff. No wonder Ric Flair came back to where the real action is. I mean you’ve got a main event last night between Hogan and Savage, two wrestlers who are way past their prime and one who is very limited in the ring and WCW think that can rival Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker which quite frankly, was one of the best matches I’ve seen a long time between two guys who ooze wrestling ability. The fans were on their feet applauding both men’s incomparable efforts tonight and in WCW you got the same old story. Legdrop. Pinfall. And Hogan retains yet again. Boring!

You all saw the card. They had twelve matches. Twelve! How do you manage to tell a story in any match when you have to fit in so many? Is Eric Bishcoff the dumbest man on this planet? For one thing he had his Championship as the sub main event just because Hall and Nash kissed his ass the night before! Now don’t get me wrong it wasn’t all negative although a hell of a lot of it was. I mean at least they put over talent such as Chris Jericho, Perry Saturn, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Eddy Guerrero, but if I’m honest that should happen every night. These guys are the people that have the wrestling ability to carry any promotion on its back. Those guys are the real workhorses of the company. Take guys like Eddy Guerrero and Chris Jericho who bar one or two guys I can think of can outwrestle anybody and they also have tremendous mic skills. Oh wait, their not big enough. Their not seven feet tall, 300 pounds so let’s keep them in the midcard.

Now that’s enough about WCW because quite frankly they don’t deserve the time or the effort when they think its ok to bury people who are meant to be top stars. I want to talk about the best wrestling promotion going today, the WWF and some of those wonderful entertainers that we have.

Let’s start at the bottom with a team quickly rising through the ranks here at the WWF and that team is Edge and Christian. They’ve been given more mic time and have their own recurring segment to help them get over and you know what, its working. Both are great in the ring and can talk and that’s what we’re looking for. Those two have the potential to be World Champion’s in this business and yes, I have the power to tell that early in a wrestler’s career.

Last night Owen Hart produced one of the best wrestling displays that I’ve ever seen from such a young dude and after a performance like that, if he isn’t considered a main eventer with future World Championship ambitions then I don’t know how he can do. This year for Owen didn’t exactly start off as planned I mean he got screwed in the Royal Rumble, made a fool of by Triple H and lost to Shawn Michaels in a match that would have seen him main eventing Wrestle-freaking-mania. But then it all changed and now mid way through the year I have a feeling it’s only going to get better for my tip to be breakout star of the year…

There are just a couple more people I want to talk about and one of them is Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. Now I know a lot of people hate this guy right now, but to be fair, that’s his job. At the moment he’s paid to draw heat and at this current time I can’t name too many people who could do a better job. Now storylines aside for the moment and let me tell you nobody was more proud of Owen Hart tonight than his brother. I respect the hell out of Bret, working with Vince despite what he did to him, working closely with DX despite all the times they drove him crazy, and now giving the performance of his life in all three of their epic encounters to make sure his brother has the chance to cement a wrestling legacy that maybe one day can live up to his.

Let’s move down the card a little because we’ve also got guys like Chris Jericho, like Eddy Guerrero, but we’re making them into stars. Guys like The Rock, Triple H and Kurt Angle who has taken the promotion by storm since debuting only a few months ago. He’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before. The point I’m trying to make is that these guys are on the verge of becoming top guys in this company and although WCW are the top dogs now, they won’t be for long because we’ll keep pushing the younger stars. I know Vince is looking at a number of guys on the roster and sparking ideas to move them up the card as we speak, and one guy in particular that Vince is looking at repackaging is Bradshaw. He’s as tough as they come and although his technical skills aren’t really there he has the ability to put on great matches aswell as being great on the mic. I can see him becoming a valuable member of the roster.

One main issue that I know is surprising a lot of people out there is that Steve Austin, probably the most over star in our company at the moment, isn’t involved in the World Heavyweight Title scene. Let me tell you this, he doesn’t need to be. He’s that damn good that he’s got over as hell from just being himself, but I can assure you that ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin’s part in the World Wrestling Federation will be getting bigger each week.

That's all from me. I’m Jim Cornette and that’s my opinion.

WWF Raw is War

Ross: Welcome folks to another exciting addition of Raw is War. I’m Jim Ross joined by Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and Jim Cornette here at ringside ready to call what promises to be an amazing show after last nights King of the Ring pay per view.

Lawler: It was a spectacular show JR. I still can’t get over what happened at the end. Kane and The Undertaker together! Maybe we’ll get some answers tonight.

Cornette: There’s nobody who rates Shawn Michaels higher than me, but tonight in the main event I think even he might have his hands full against Undertaker and Kane.

Ross: Last night Undertaker and Michaels fought until they couldn’t fight anymore and although Michaels didn’t retain his belt through a fall, you have to applaud his resolve and promise to The Undertaker that he wouldn’t cheat.

Cornette: He had a chance to walk away with the belt half way through the match, but choose to stay and give excite us all with a simply brilliant match. The finish aside, that was one of the best matches I’ve witnessed for a long, long time.

Lawler: I don’t know about you guys, but I want to know what Owen meant last night when he mentioned unfinished business. He’s got past Bret, but what’s next him?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, Oh, Oooohhhhh,

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpg

A patched up Shawn Michaels struts out from the back as the injuries he sustained last night are clearly not enough to stop him from making his usual energetic entrance. A lot of people are on their feet applauding his efforts and not just the ladies. Perhaps a surprise if that he comes down to the ring alone, nobody from DX to accompany him.

Michaels: Last night myself, ‘The Headliner’, ‘The Showstopper’, ‘The Main Event’ and The Undertaker went out there and we gave you all a five star match. I promised it and surprise surprise, I delivered it. After all the chokeslams, after all the tombstones I stand before you all still WWF World Heavyweight Champion and you know why, because I’m the man and that’s just what I do.

Michaels paused and posed which had some women at ringside screaming. He smiled straight at them and then continues with his promo.

Michaels: I’m out here alone Undertaker because I respect you and I know that you respect me. I’m the best in this company and in this business and I’d go out on a limb and suggest that you could be the second and last night we couldn’t be separated. Now your probably gonna be coming out here tonight and asking me nicely, like I know you do, for a rematch.

The fans pop as Michaels brings up the possibility of another match between the two.

Michaels: Let me tell you this right now Undertaker, there’s no way in HELL that’s gonna happen.

A complete contrast can be heard in the crowd after popping only a few seconds earlier.

Michaels: Whoa! Come on guys, you were so nice earlier. The Undertaker has had his shot and he couldn’t get the job done so let’s be fair here. Let somebody else have a shot, he can’t be selfish all the time.

The fans boo once again.

Michaels: Time to talk about what happened after ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels retained his World Title after customarily stealing the show and that is Kane.

The fans cheer Kane who looked to have turned face last night by helping his brother against DX.

Michaels: Everybody is talking about Kane and The Undertaker who are now gonna destroy everyone in the company. Just like your rematch Undertaker, that aint gonna happen. I’ve told you once and I’ve told you a thousand times, Degeneration X runs this company and this right here.

He holds the belt in his hands.

Michaels: This is proof. Me and Hunter will kick some big scary, seven foot, 300 pound ass tonight and show the people who don’t seem to know yet, that we run this joint!

Shawn Michaels struts away down the ramp as his music plays; surprisingly there is no intervention from Undertaker or Kane which seemed to be expected by most fans.

WWF Light Heavyweight Title Match

Great Sasuke © vs. Taka Michinoku vs. Heavy Metal

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/8465/greatsasukeqs4.jpgvs.http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/4974/takamichinokucf2.jpgvs.http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6286/heavymetalfg7.jpg

Normally you get some fans still at the hot dog cart or down in the bathroom as Raw begins and the first match takes place, but not tonight. Everybody was seated and looking forward to what extreme moves these Lightweight innovators would treat them to tonight. They weren’t disappointed as the ever consistent Great Sasuke showed everybody in attendance just why he is so popular in the division and why he is the Champion.

The bout itself was fast and frantic, but that was expected given the participant. There were many high risk spots involving the top turnbuckle and the ropes during the ten minutes they were given to warm up the crowd. It was evenly matched with all three superstars being given a chance to show what they could do in the ground and in the air, but only one man could prevail. Although Taka was probably the most established of the other two with his own tag team going on, even he wasn’t ready to take the belt from somebody as loved as Sasuke. After an inch perfect moonsault on Heavy Metal, Sasuke wrapped up another defence of his Title.

Winner and still WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, Great Sasuke

Match Rating: D+

As Sasuke celebrated with the Title Sean Waltman led out The Mexican Warriors along with Marty Jannetty. They approached the ring, but didn’t hurry to get in instead, as Sasuke readied Heavy Metal and Taka Michinoku for action, taking their time before entering opposite to Sasuke and his men.

Waltman: Hey there bro, I see you’ve still got that belt. Good. There’s nobody I would rather take it off than you, Sasuke. Now, that was an ok match guys, but its time for us to show you something better.

Waltman engaged on Sasuke as his cronies ran forward and began slugging it out with the Light Heavyweights. Soon enough Waltman and his three men got the better of the Sasuke and his two and started to involve some weaponry.

What’s this? Super Loco, Tajiri and Kid Kash came rushing down the ramp to help out their fellow Light Heavyweights and began brawling with all four men. At first Waltman’s team had the advantage, but it wasn’t long before the others recovered and came to the rescue.

Ross: Bah gawd! All hell is breaking loose here!

The extra men advantage helped to drive Waltman out of the ring as the tables turned to being six on four. They celebrated in the ring as Waltman threatened them backpedaling up the ramp clutching his neck, an injury he had only just recovered from.

Lawler: I think there is a definite split in the Light Heavyweight division.

Ross: I'm just glad to see them standing up for themselves against this bully, Sean Waltman.

*No Chance!*

Vince McMahon walks out intently from the back, his arms flapping from side to side. His face is screwed up as he snatches a microphone from ringside.

Vince: Shuuuut Uuuup!!

This remark does everything that Vince secretly wants it to, riles up the crowd.

Vince: Now I want to make one thing clear…

*Breaking Glass*

The fans erupt at the arrival of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin who is accompanied by fellow tag team champion ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair.

Austin’s quick walk to the ring contrasts with Flair’s timely entrance so he has to wait until their in the ring to began strutting for the fans.

Austin: What do ya think of this, Vinnie Boy?

Austin waves his tag team gold in his face as Vince’s irate face stares down at it.

Austin: This is nice and all, but you know that I want something else.

The fans cheer as Austin begins hinting to a shot at the WWF Championship.

Austin: Good ole Stone Cold seems to remember back at Unforgiven when I won a shot at the Champion which I don’t believe I’ve used yet.

Vince: And your not gonna use…

Austin: Quit running your mouth before I come over there and open up a can of whoop-ass on you!

Flair: Wooooooo! Vince McMahon you dared to mess with ‘The Nature Boy’ and ‘Stone Cold’ and you paid the price. We’re the Tag Team Champions brother and there ain’t nothing that millionaire ass can do about it. Wooooooo!

Vince: How about this then! You and Austin will defend the belts tonight in a rematch against Bigelow and Vader and if you somehow manage to survive that then you can defend them every single week until their away from your embarrassing waists!

Austin: Shut the help up! I don’t care about these damn belts, hell put us in two matches a night, why not make it three while your at it? You’ve been trying to screw me over for months now and I’m still here, but I’m starting to think this company isn’t big enough for the both of us, Vince, so you’re gonna have to take your ass and head off home!

Vince: I own this company dammit and if I want to fire you then I damn well will!

Austin: Do it. Fire me and then we’ll see what happens to your precious little company.

Vince: Shut Up! Just get into the back and prepare for your last match as Tag Team Champions.

Austin: You know what Vince that sounds like a great plan, but I’ve got something else in mind and I’m quite sure that ‘The Nature Boy’ has a similar plan in mind. Ric, how many members of The Corporation do you see in the ring?

Flair: Well my eyesight isn’t what it used to be, but I’m only seeing one useless little Corporation member brother.

Austin smiles are Vince who now looks completely petrified as he begs Austin not to hit him, but in typical Stone Cold fashion he doesn’t listen and flips McMahon the bird before stunning him to the mat. Austin gets up in the face of Vince he laid on the mat while Flair struts a little more for the crowd.

Edge and Christian stroll out to a well rounded pop. They are here to announce the match type for tonight and find out their challengers in their, what is becoming customary, open challenge.

Christian: I’ve been talking to my brother here and we feel that this is becoming a little too easy. I mean we’re beating talent like there’s no tomorrow so we told WWF management to get off their butts and bring in some real competition.

Edge: Yeah, they didn’t take too kindly to our demands and made the match choice themselves tonight.

Christian: They told us to keep our noses out of it and concentrate on the teams we hadn’t beaten yet.

Edge: So we just told them we’d totally kick every other teams butt. Simple.

Christian: Tonight’s match is guaranteed to feature the red stuff. That’s right WWF management have put us in a first blood match as punishment, but we just see it as punishment for the other team.

Edge: Let’s see you then.

The veteran team of the Mexican Warriors walk out looking ready for action. Chavo is carrying a metal tray which prompts Edge to hastily roll out of the ring and gather two steel chairs for protection.

The E and C Invitational Extreme Tag Team Challenge First Blood Match

Edge and Christian vs. The Mexican Warriors

The Mexican Warriors dealt out some punishment early on, but couldn’t find that one shot to produce any blood which in a match like this, is rather important. A whole manner of weapons were introduced throughout the time the match lasted and it was certainly tough for Edge and Christian, perhaps their toughest test to date.

They had the quickness and the athleticism advantage over their aging opponents though and it proved vital to turn the tables and ultimately call an end to the match. They needed all their agility to duck and dive various swinging weapons and were able to get out of out harms way quicker. Edge and Christian retained a 100% in their open challenger after placing a chair under Panther’s head and cracking him with another one as he lay there. A move that shall now dubbed the Con-chair-to.

Winners: Edge and Christian

The music of Sgt. Slaughter hit for the first time since Wrestlemania and he made his way out to the ring to a decent pop. Bradshaw, Kama Mustafa and D’lo Brown were trailing behind him all his combat trousers on and a tight vest. Slaughter starts to speak directing it to the locker room.

Slaughter: Listen up, maggots! Us right here, we’re The Armed Forces and we’re here to stop all the cheating, all the bullies, all the bad guys that are behind that curtain.

Bradshaw: I, Captain Bradshaw and my two Privates, Kama Mustafa and D’lo Brown, will make this company a better place to be.

Slaughter: Vince McMahon, you screwed me over at Wrestlemania just like you’ve screwed over so many people and now we might just do the same to you. Because Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, I could go on and on, you’ve all cruised through this company getting everything you’ve wanted and never facing any consequences for your actions. Well that stops right here!

Bradshaw: Whoever it may be needs to watch their steps because we’re gonna shake things up here and Vince you might not like it, but your going to have to learn to live with it.

Slaughter: That is all we needed to say for one night, we’ll give you some time rethink what you do here and show some remorse for your actions or else we’re taking charge. Attention!

Captain Bradshaw and Private’s Brown and Mustafa stand up straight and salute the Sergeant before following him into the back.

Cornette: What the hell was all that about?

Ross: You heard them, Jim, and I think they mean business.

Cornette: Those bozos! Their going to take on Vince McMahon and The Corporation?

Lawler: Maybe Slaughter has more surprises up his sleeve.

Ross: Maybe, King. I want to here what Mr. McMahon has to say about this.

The camera pans backstage where Kevin Kelly is standing by with Owen Hart. As Owen pops into the picture the noise levels raise significantly in a positive way.

Kelly: I’m standing by backstage with a man who last night survived a thirty minute iron man match. Owen Hart, last night you mentioned that you were going to take care of unfinished business. What do you mean?

Owen: Well Kevin Kelly let me take you all the way back to last night where at In Your House I had a match against Triple H. I don’t know if you can remember but at the end of that match, I had him, he couldn’t stand and I was ready to go in for the kill, but then with the referee down he did something that we’ve come to expect from Triple H. He cheated. He took the cowards way out and cracked me over the head with a sledgehammer that his boyfriend handed him.

The fans laugh at the last remark by Owen as he pauses.

Owen: Triple H, I can still taste the blood. I can still see hear the referee counting the three and I can still see you. The ****y, arrogant, bigheaded Triple H celebrating as if you hadn’t done anything wrong. You tormented me for two months and then the Royal Rumble happened.

The crowd boo powerfully obviously not going to forget the events that transpired at the Royal Rumble in a hurry.

Owen: And as you can imagine my attention was turned to that scumbag Bret. But now Triple H, now I’ve beaten Bret. I’ve proven to him that I’m better and I think it’s time I did the same with you. I’m ready for my rematch now Helmsley and you better be too.

Kelly: If I can ask one more question, Owen, how do you feel about facing Rhino tonight?

Owen: Well you see that’s the other piece of unfinished business. On the final Raw before King of the Ring he attacked me and got involved in matters that didn’t concern him. Tonight I’ll beat Rhino and then I’ll move straight on to Hunter. You claim to be a ‘Man Beast’ Rhino, but to me you’re just a pu**ycat. I’ll tame you and that gore tonight and you’ll be tapping to the sharpshooter in no time.

‘The Innovator of Offence’ Chris Kanyon w. Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat vs. Marc Mero w. Sable

http://i48.tinypic.com/1z1zr6c.jpgvs.http://i25.tinypic.com/1zpmalw.jpg

There was definitely a contrast of managers here and I don’t mean their genders. Sable would try to involved at all costs to save her man from the pain that Kanyon’s inventive offence was causing him whereas, Steamboat stood his distance and it seemed that his mere presence was all that was needed to give Kanyon a boost.

Sable did create a few openings that she hoped Mero would capitalize on would Kanyon was equal to everything that was thrown at him and after an inverted sitout side powerslam and a Russian legsweep, he finished Mero off with The Flatliner before accompanying Steamboat to the back without a single gesture.

Winner: Chris Kanyon

WWF World Tag Team Titles Match

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair © vs. Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader w. Vince McMahon

http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpgvs.http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/346/bambambigelowku3.jpghttp://i48.tinypic.com/6xt7y0.jpg

The newly crowned Tag Team Champion didn’t want to have one of the shortest reigns in history and played it conservative in the opening stages tagging in and out well to isolate the big men. Vince McMahon was as ever a poisonous presence at ringside for the Champs and tried to make life as hard as he could, but after Austin stunned him on the outside mid way through, he played little part afterwards.

Vader and Bigelow soon became in control and couldn’t be kept down for long. Vader used his tremendous power to run out of the corner trampling Ric Flair as he did. Vader and Bigelow continued to ware down ‘The Nature Boy’ who showed his famous grit and determination to make the hot tag to Austin after several minutes of torture. Austin expectedly cleaned house and had the support of every member of the audience as he did. Stunner on Bigelow who flops over the top rope. Stunner, no Vader countered, but Austin caught him with a kick to the gut. Stunner! Austin and Flair retain!

The ring is laid out with a velvety red carpet and a throne in the middle meaning that The crowning of the new King of the Ring is imminent.

*If ya smell… what The Rock… is cooking!*

http://i49.tinypic.com/2eeh4pz.jpg

The Rock makes his electrifying entrance with lots of fireworks and lights and more special efforts than usual. He climbed into the ring and ascended each turnbuckle individually eliciting a response from each section of the crowd. After he had done he was handed a microphone and moved to sit in the chair resting the crowd on his lap.

The Rock: FINALLY…The ROCK… HAS COME BACK... TO WASHINGTON DC! You’re looking at royalty right here in this ring, your looking at the people’s king. The trailblazin’, eyebrow raisin’, jabroni beatin’, pie eatin’, loves to sing, but you don’t care about that cos The Rock is King of the Ring!

The fans cheer as The Rock raises the eyebrow.

The Rock: Now let’s get this crown on the perfectly shaped head of The Rock.

The Rock takes the crown and places it onto his head and sits up straight as royal music begins to play.

http://i47.tinypic.com/kamf5e.jpg

Suddenly it is interrupted by the distinct sounds of ‘Hart Attack’ and Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart comes down slowly to the ring receiving a hot reception as The Rock looks on with disgust.

Bret: Who the hell do you think you are Rock? You have no talent all you are is a walking catchphrase and being ‘the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be’, it sickens me to see you scoring a lucky pinfall over my buddy Triple H, who I may add actually can wrestle and very well aswell. You’re not ‘King of the Ring’, no chance, your looking at a true King of the Ring.

With that Bret poses to a strong reception from the crowd as they wait in anticipation for The Rock to respond.

The Rock: First of all jabroni, this is The Rock’s King of the Ring crowning so know your role and SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

The fans pop as Bret starts to frown at Rock’s comments.

Bret: You show me some damn respect; do you know who I am?

The Rock looks at the crowd for a moment and can’t help letting out a rye smile.

The Rock: It doesn’t matter who you are! The only thing that matters Bret Hart is that you come out here and you run your mouth about how you’re ‘the best there is’ and the true King of the Ring. The Rock says this, Hitman, while The Rock was laying the smacketh down on Triple’s rudi poo candy ass last night you were getting your candy ass well and truly kicked by Owen Hart!

The fans pop again as The Rock raises the eyebrow towards Bret who looks livid.

Bret: This isn’t about Owen! This is about you and me Rock and I guarantee that if you step in the ring with the excellence of execution then you will regret ever being born.

The Rock: How about you go one…on…one with the great one right now jabroni?

The Rock prepares in the ring for Bret to come fight ring and does his customary ‘Just bring it’ taunt.

Bret: You don’t control me, Rock. You don’t tell me what to do. If I want to come down there and kick your ass then you can bet I’ll do just that.

The Rock: Get your little cowardly candy ass down here and let The Rock electrify the millions (and millions) of Rocks fans or are you still recovering from that mega ass whooping from last night?

Bret starts to make his way to the ring as the fans stand up and begin to get ready for a battle.

Bret: I’ll break your damn legs, Rocky!

Bret slides into the ring and the two start trading huge blows until The Rock starts to get the upper hand with a flurry of slap like punches, but then Bret comes back with a knee to the gut. Bret whips Rock into the corner, but he moves and starts laying into Bret once again who does his best to cover up. Rock pounds Bret to the ground allowing him to slide out of the ring as The Rock dares him to get back in. Bret doesn’t take him up on that offer and retreats to the back.

The Rock: The Rock says this Bret Hart, The Rock's just took your monkey ass down to the corner of Know Your Role Boulevard at the end of Jabroni Drive and checked that monkey ass right into the Smackdown Hotel! If you smellll la la low… what The Rock… issss cooking!

‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. ‘The Wrestling Machine’ Kurt Angle

http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8081/kenshamrockxt7.jpgvs.http://i47.tinypic.com/34rxij5.jpg

A highly anticipated battle that the fans were waiting to see. Both very different approaches as Shamrock prefers to use his MMA style whereas Angle has proven himself to be a technical master. Despite the differences they share one very similar trait, their finishing maneuver, the feared ankle lock. They had won various matches in their time here using the move, but which one was the true master of the hold? That was the question that people were asking as they locked horns.

It was clear from the opening stages that Kurt Angle could outwrestle Ken Shamrock with ease and he attempted to keep him grounded working the legs and ankle of Shamrock with a range of holds that were designed to stretch the muscles. Shamrock fought his way back to a vertical base and began slugging it out with Angle which was a position that the Olympic gold medalist didn’t really want to be in. Angle managed to stay on top of things using his speed to go around Shamrock and hit a german suplex.

Shamrock caught Angle out of the blue with the ankle lock, but Angle managed to kick Shamrock off before any major damage was done. Angle came back with a big European uppercut and then looked to put things away pulling down the straps on his singlet and lifting Shamrock up for an Angle Slam. Instead of covering Angle went straight to the ankle and locked on the hold. Shamrock managed to crawl to the ropes after a withstanding the ankle lock for a respectable amount of time. The frustration was clear on the face of Angle.

The action became fast and open once again as Shamrock began to utilize his kicks and strikes which were causing Angle some problems. Shamrock caught Angle with a cradle suplex and looked for the pinfall.

1…

2…

No!

Angle kicked out. Shamrock moved over to Angle and tried to get him up, but Angle came back with a defrauded thumb to the eye. Both were up to a vertical base and Shamrock was whipped into the ropes but came back and knocked Angle down as the two hit each other in the centre. Shamrock had that look about him and went to lock in the ankle lock, but Angle countered. Small package!

2…

Angle is tugging on the tights of Shamrock.

3.

Winner: Kurt Angle

Match Rating: B

Shamrock was quickly to his feet and Angle rolled out of the ring. He stared down at Angle obviously feeling cheated while the fans booed Angle down the ramp.

Ross: What the hell was that?! I thought he was an athlete. He couldn’t beat Shamrock with the ankle lock so he reverted to dirty tactics.

Cornette: He won though didn’t he JR? I think that’s all that matters and to beat a former Intercontinental Champion in the process.

Ross: Shamrock will not be happy. He won’t let this one slide easily.

Lawler: Angle just wanted to win JR. He didn’t care about beating Shamrock with the ankle lock and if he’d have waited around for the chance then maybe the result might have been different. You’ve got to take the chances as they come.

Funk: Mankind! You disgraceful human being. Last night wasn’t a fight, it was a joke. Who gives a s**t who can win in a real wrestling match. That’s not my game and I don’t want to change how I wrestle. Even though I didn’t care about losing to you, my family didn’t feel the same way. When I stepped through the front door my wife wouldn’t talk to me. She was ashamed that I couldn’t deliver on my promise of destroying you and I tried to explain. I tried to explain that wasn’t possible in such a irrelevant match as that. I made you bleed Mankind, but just not nearly enough.

He pauses for a moment and begins breathing heavily.

Funk: My children couldn’t look me in the eye. They were ashamed that I could loose to such a pathetic soft little man in a mask. I’ve spilled more blood in this business than anybody and if you had done the things I’ve done Mankind then we wouldn’t be having this little rivalry because, you’d already be dead.

He pauses once again and brings the microphone even closer to his mouth.

Funk: This is only the beginning Mankind. It’s time for things to change. It’s time for things to get HARDCORE! We’ll meet at Fully Loaded in a hardcore match where weapons will be encouraged and blood will be spilled. I will flood the arena with your sticky red blood and leave NOTHING left. I will tear your flesh with barbed wire, scar your skin with red hot fire and break your damn skull with a steel chair. You will join me in the land of extreme Mankind or are you as big a coward as I’ve been saying?

Cornette: That's more like it. Mankind having to face Funk in his natural environment. I wouldn't be surprised if their not allowed to air that.

Ross: Mankind is no stranger to hardcore matches either.

Cornette: Mankind is soft, JR. You heard it from the Funker himself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rhino entered to the traditional Degeneration X music and was accompanied to Owen’s dismay by Triple H. Triple H walked past the ring grinning subtly at Owen before taking up a seat next to ‘The King’ at the announce booth.

Triple H: Alright if I join you dudes down here?

Ross: I don’t really want you here…

Triple H: I’ll tell you what JR, how about you shut your damn mouth and I won’t pedigree your ass through this table.

Cornette: I personally think it’s an honor to have you out here with us Triple H.

JR looks at Cornette and begins shaking his head.

Cornette: Just because you’d rather have that redneck out here with us JR. Just call the damn match and leave Triple H out of this.

Owen Hart vs. ‘The Man Beast’ Rhino

http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpgvs.http://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpg

Owen Hart was easily in the best form of his life, but would coming from a grueling thirty minute Ironman match with his brother Bret only last night and having to face a relatively fresh ‘Man Beast’ prove too much? The simple answer was no. Although it was clear that Owen was nursing some wounds from last night which was obviously to be expected, he didn’t look out of sorts at all and Rhino struggled against Owen’s ever improving technical game.

Owen had the sharpshooter locked on the middle of the ring and Rhino, despite all his power, couldn’t get to the ropes. Abruptly Triple H threw down his headset and jumped onto the apron which immediately caught the attention of the referee who tried to get Triple H to sit back down. With the referee’s back was turned Rhino starting to tap. Owen Hart turned around and noticed Triple H and a fuse went off inside him. He broke the hold and started to engage in a war of words with him. A pop was heard from the crowd as Owen threw a huge right hook at Triple H knocking him off the apron. He turned around, gore! Rhino had recovered from the sharpshooter and caught Owen Hart out of nowhere.

Winner: Rhino

Match Rating: B-

Ross: Oh come on! What a disgrace!

Cornette: It's brilliant, Jr and you know it. Admit it.

Triple H pulled Rhino out of the ring as Owen Hart’s anger grew and grew. He shook the ropes and shouted profanity at Triple H who then called for The Outlaws from the back. Owens expression didn’t change though and he bravely beckoned all four Degeneration X members into the ring to face him. They didn’t need a second invitation and The Outlaws with Rhino stormed the ring with Triple H backing off a little.

Ross: Four on one! Somebody kick Triple H's ass, please!

The crowd were red hot and vociferous, willing Owen on as he connected with lightening quick punches to the three members of DX. As you would expect given the situation the momentum wore off and the numbers game become too much. Triple H cowardly entered the ring after Rhino had gored Owen to the mat again. Triple H brought in a chair with him and opened it placing it on top of Owen with the front bar to support the legs over his neck. He sat on it and began pointing right in Owen’s face threatening him as he did.

*If ya smell… what The Rock… is cooking!*

http://i49.tinypic.com/2eeh4pz.jpg

Ross: Yes! Come on Rock! Get down there and lay some smackdown!

Cornette: What the hell is The Rock doing out here? Get back and leave DX to do their work.

The Rock literally sprints from the back taking all DX by surprise. He into The Outlaws and Rhino with electrifying punches as the fans pop hard before hitting a rock bottom on bewildered Triple H who was trying to escape the action. Owen Hart made his way to a vertical base and disposed of Triple H over the top rope as he celebrated for the fans in the ring with King of the Ring winner, The Rock.

Ross: There you go DX, The Rock and Owen Hart are standing tall in the ring.

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels and Triple H vs. ‘The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker and ‘The Big Red Monster’ Kane

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpghttp://img8.imageshack.us/img8/497/tripleh2s.jpgvs.http://i36.tinypic.com/14ipjwz.jpghttp://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpg

The fans still seemed in shock and didn’t know whether to believe that Kane and The Undertaker had formed an alliance. In the past few months Kane had set his brother on fire and then Undertaker had extracted his revenge inside the intimidating confines of hell in a cell. Could they put water under the bridge this quickly after all that. If this match was to give us an answer then you had to say that all had been forgiven. They tagged well and teamed up to punish Degeneration X with big powerful offence that the two seven footers were known for.

It was surprising just what one night can do for you in this business as Kane, previously receiving mega heat, was now cheered for by many in the audience as he made his way to the ring with Undertaker to combined music. Triple H had to take most of the punishment in this match mainly because Michaels was still feeling the effects of last night. On the other hand, despite Undertaker’s clearly injured knee that he sustained last he still wanted to take out his frustrations and probably spent more time in the ring than Kane.

Triple H was getting isolated by the two monsters and the match looked lost. Shawn Michaels realised he had to get in the ring and try to save his best friend and the match itself. Kane was in the ring at this stage decapitating Triple H with plenty of clothesline and uppercut action. Kane tossed Triple H in the ring making lightweight of his 260 pound frame and then followed up hard. As he tried it a second time though, Triple H spun out of the way and scrambled over to tag in Michaels.

Michaels was red hot despite the fatigue of last night and began chopping the chest of Kane forcing him into the corner. Michaels moved back and ran at Kane, but he exploded out of the corner nearly taking the Champions head off with a clothesline. He tagged in his brother who was itching to get hold of Michaels after he had stated earlier tonight that Undertaker wouldn’t receive another shot at the gold.

Undertaker struck hard at Michaels chest taking the wind straight out of him and then whipped him hard into the ropes. Michaels slid under Undertaker’s long legs and right out onto the outside to gain some recuperation.

Michaels and Undertaker brawled on the outside for a few minutes with Triple H and Kane inevitably getting involved at stages to help out their respective partners. Undertaker picked Michaels up and ran at the ringpost which hit the back of Michaels hard. Undertaker then rolled Michaels back into the ring and was then beaten down some more by ‘The Deadman’. Undertaker tagged in Kane who worked Michaels over to the point where he lifted him up for a chokeslam.

One…

Two…

Triple H broke the pin!

Undertaker entered the fray and began pummeling Triple H with hard rights on the outside. He whipped him into the steel steps shoulder first as Kane picked Michaels up on his shoulder. Michaels dropped behind Kane and pushed him away. Sweet Chin Music! No, Kane blocked and nailed Michaels with a huge clothesline. He then picked Michaels up onto his shoulder once again and hit the tombstone.

One…

Two…

Three.

Kane owned a pinfall over the Champion!

Winners: Undertaker and Kane

Match Rating: A

Triple H stays in the ring as Bret Hart, The Outlaws and the newest addition of DX, Rhino, join him while Michaels retreats up the ramp with his prized WWF Title in his arms. A five on two beatdown commences which seemed to take Undertaker and Kane by surprise, but it didn’t matter. The apprehension was clear for all to see on Michaels face as Undertaker fought back with a flurry of punches clotheslining Triple H over the top rope and onto the mat and then hoisting Bret up for a huge Chokeslam. Meanwhile Kane pushed Rhino into the corner before unleashing with a double clothesline on The Outlaws. They left the ring clutching their necks as Kane and Undertaker teamed up to double Chokeslam Rhino with DX watching on helplessly.

Vince McMahon appears on the titantron hinting that Raw isn’t over just yet.

Vince: Shawn, turn around dammit and look at me!

Michaels wasn’t expecting to see Vince and switched his gaze between his boss and the dangerous brothers controlling the ring.

Vince: You’re a coward Shawn. Look at you; you couldn’t even help as your buddies were getting the holy hell beaten out of them. Now I’m out here to make a match for next week and I think, well I hope, that you’re all gonna like it. No, not you Shawn, YOU’RE going to hate it!

Michaels can’t take his eyes off Vince now as he ponders over what match he could be talking about.

Vince: Next week, live on Raw is War we’re going to have ourselves a King of the Ring rematch.

Michaels eyes begin to grow as it’s clear he fears the worse.

Vince: That’s right, next week it’s going to be Shawn Michaels defending the WWF Title against… The Undertaker!

Michaels goes crazy with anger on the ramp as Triple H has to restrain him. Undertaker just simply stares at Michaels with his usual cold, hard look.

Vince: That’s not all, Champ, that match is going to be in a steel cage! The only way to win is to escape!

Vince disappears from the titantron laughing to himself while Michaels reverts his gaze back to The Undertaker who, along with Kane raises his arms in the air. They both drop them simultaneously and fire just launches high into the arena from the staging the area causing Michaels to jump in fright. The show ends with Undertaker slicing his throat with his thumb as Michaels watches on.

Ross: Bah gawd! Next week on Raw it's going to be Undertaker against Michaels for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Lawler: Don't forget the steel cage, JR.

Ross: How can Michaels survive that one. We're going to have to find out next week because that's all we have time for here tonight.

Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Debuting Team

Though first test for new team, infact likely too though since Vader and Bigelow need the win in order to gain some lost momentum

European Title Tournament First Round

Marty Jannetty vs. Captain Bradshaw

Nice to see Bradshaw back in action and since he seemed to be most important actual wrestler on his new stable he needs the win here in order to make that stable look decent

European Title Tournament First Round

Farooqvs. Jerry Lynn

Farooq vs. Bratshaw would be very interesting, not only because they formed APA in real lief but also because D´lo and Mustafa have history with Farooq

Mankindvs. ‘Psycho’ Sid Vicious

Mankind is in feud while Sid isn´t so Mankind should take this one unless Funk costs him the match (which actually is highly likely to happen:p).

‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. ‘The Street Fighter’ William Regal

Shamrock gets a win after losing to Angle

WWF Tag Team Titles Match

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair © vs. The New Age Outlaws

No title change yet

Steel Cage Match for the WWF World Heavyweight Title

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels vs. ‘The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker

That escape win only rule allows HBK to get a win while Undertaker can still look dominant

WWF Raw is War

http://i34.tinypic.com/2ywh5ww.jpg

Ross: Welcome folks to Raw is War and tonight we have one hell of a main event which sees a rematch between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker inside a steel cage with the biggest prize in the business on line.

Cornette: Michaels and Undertaker put on the match of the year at King of the Ring and tonight we get to see them again right here on Raw. This is truly the place to be tonight.

Lawler: And I don’t think Michaels will be Champion at the end of it. This is the Undertakers playground.

Cornette: You’re forgetting that you have to escape the cage in order to win, King and I believe that Michaels has the advantage there. He is clearly the faster and more athletic so it’ll be easier for him to get up and over the cage. Don’t get me wrong though, there is no way I’m betting on either on of them tonight. We saw how closely these are matched at King of the Ring.

Ross: Before that slobberknocker of a main event folks we still have an exciting show to call so let’s get straight to the action.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vader and Bigelow and standing in the ring awaiting their unknown opponents when some catchy hiphop music begins to sound and out comes two people dancing and jiving all the way to the ring which causes Vader and Bigelow to look at each thinking if these guys a serious.

Ross: Oh we’ve seen this guys before on Sunday Night Heat. It’s Too Cool, Scotty2Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay.

Cornette: Grandmaster Sexay? Seriously? Wait a minute, he looks an awful lot like you, King…

Too Cool continued to dance their way into the ring as Vader and Bigelow stared at them not knowing what to think. Scotty2Hotty jumped on the floor and performed ‘a worm’ which the fans seemed to enjoy. Vader and Bigelow though, not so much. They’d had enough and started beating the hell out of Too Cool before the bell had begun.

Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Too Cool

http://i48.tinypic.com/6xt7y0.jpghttp://img413.imageshack.us/img413/346/bambambigelowku3.jpgvs.http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/3147/scotttaylor.jpghttp://img838.imageshack.us/img838/5296/grandmastersexay.jpg

The match was rather short, but it wasn’t the complete squash match that most people were expecting. Too Cool seemed exciting and were at times too quick for the former Tag Team Champions.

In spite of this though, the former Champs were always comfortable and were really just biding their time and looking for the opening that would ultimately end the match. Vader ended the match with a huge powerbomb on Sexay.

Winners: Vader and Bigelow

Match Rating: D-

We cameras go backstage into the locker room of Degeneration X.

Michaels: What the heel is Vince’s problem? Cage match against the freaking Undertaker!

Bret: Shawn, calm down, me and Hunter have been talking and we’ll both be down there at ringside. Just run to the top of the cage and jump off and we’ll break your fall. Just get out of the cell as soon as possible.

Triple H: Yeah Shawn, we’ll be there tonight man so don’t worry about it. Me and Bret have our own problems, but we won’t let that freak take this Title from DX.

Michaels: Maybe contact Rhino aswell?

Bret: I’ll try and get him down there, but I think we just have to be glad that he’s on our side. I don’t really fancy talking him around if he doesn't want to do it.

Triple H: Shawn, your going to need a new challenger after you beat Undertaker tonight and I was just thinking that you could give me the shot at Fully Loaded.

Michaels starts to laugh which Triple H doesn’t take too kindly to.

Michaels: Your serious, Hunter? Why can’t you just go for the IC Title? You’d take that from Jarrett no problem and then we could have some more gold in this group.

Triple H: And you don’t think I could take your Title from you?

Michaels: (awkwardly) Come on, Hunter. I mean you just lost to The Rock so if anyone should be getting a shot then it’d probably be him. You understand don’t you bro?

Triple H stiffly nods once at Michaels who jumps up to his feet.

Michaels: Alright, so Bret you go get Rhino in on this and Hunter you stick with me, I can’t have those two monsters trying to take me out before the match.

Triple H looks squarely at Bret as Michaels leaves the room.

Bret: Don’t do anything your going to regret, Hunter. Just forget about it, for the good of the group.

Michaels pops his head back around the corner.

Michaels: I thought I said we were moving out, come on.

Triple H reluctantly gets him and follows Michaels out of the room wearing a very obvious frown.

*Breaking Glass*

http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpg

The fans begin to give their vocal cords a work over as ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair hit the ring.

Austin: Me and Ric have just been in the back drinking some beer, you know things you do when you’re getting prepared for a routine title defence tonight, and then we just looked at each and thought is this what our career has come to. Defending the freaking tag team belts against The Outlaws.

Flair: Woooooo! Your looking at a mutli time World Champion, Vince McMahon, and you need to start realising that me and Austin aren’t gonna stand for anymore of your fun and games pal.

Austin: Ric took the words out of my mouth, Vince. How longs it been? Six months? Seven? Since you called me out here and told me I had to change my ways to fit in with this company and I stood here and I said, sure Vince I’ll do anything you want me to… And then I opened up a can of whoop ass and stunned your ass!

I will give you credit for one thing though Vince. You've probably taken more stunners than anyone else in this company and you keep coming back for more. I mean take last week for example, you didn’t think that coming to the ring alone and calling me out wasn’t going to result in you ass being on the mat? No I’ll give you credit; you’ve shown resilience and bravery to take all the ass whoopings that I’ve dealt out to you.

‘Oh, you didn’t know? Your asssss better caaaalllll somebody!’

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/570/jessejames1998dc9.jpghttp://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8372/billygunn19982gk3.jpg

The New Age Outlaws arrogantly stroll from the back and station themselves on the ramp, both are already clutching microphones.

Road Dogg: You two think it’s going to be that simple tonight then, eh? Drink a few beers and you’ve got the match won? It’s funny that cos me and Billy right here we were just in the back talking about ways in which we could defeat you. We actually made a list and do you know what was top of that list. Drink some beer, smoke some joints, tie our freaking hands behind our backs! It doesn’t matter because you guys ain’t even out league.

Flair: Not even in your league pal? Why don’t you and me go right now, one on one!

Flair throws his jacket to the ground and drops an elbow on it.

Road Dogg: Whoa, calm it old man. I don’t wanna give you a heart attack before we take those belts of you tonight.

Flair: Shut your down mouth! I was winning Championships when your ass was still sh**ing everywhere pal! You dare talk to me like that again and I’ll come straight down there and break your legs!

Gunn: (whispering) I think you angered the old man.

Road Dogg pretends to look worried and then moves on.

Road Dogg: So we have a flabby old man and a redneck on the same team. This s**t cracks me up. Get back to your trailer Austin and while we’re on it, Ric, as I was driving in earlier I saw a new OAP centre down the road, everything state of the art, looks really good. I’d stay there, but it’s only for over 80’s. I’ve got a leaflet here if you want it. Tell you what I’ll ring them up later and get you place. Just as a present from one friend to another.

Austin: Are you done?

Road Dogg: I can’t think of anything else that needs to be said, Steve.

Austin: Good! Because one more word and I’d have come down that ramp and opened up a mega can of whoopass on both your sorry asses myself!

You two are, I’m going to put this into football terms for ya, lets say the Indianapolis Colts. How many games did they win this season? Well you two jackasses remind me of them. You know, the team your 100% confidence of beating, but you have to play them anyway just to add the win to the stats because that’s all me and Ric are going to be doing tonight. Chalking up another title defence.

You come out here and you try and get into our heads by calling us names like we’re in god damn pre-school. I’ll tell you what, I’ve got some names that describe both of you. Kind of like killing two birds with one stone. Ba***rd, yeah that just about covers you two. B***h, another great one to describe you two. I do have another one which probably describes you two the best, but I’m pretty damn sure they’ll take Raw off the air and throw me out of the arena if I use it.

Austin pauses as the crowd and The Outlaws clearly know what he's talking about although the commentators continue to state that they wonder what he could mean

Austin: Gimme a hell yeah if you want to see ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘The Nature Boy’ stomp some Outlaw ass into the ground tonight!

Crowd: Hell yeah!!

Austin: Oh, hell yeah!

Austin flips The Outlaws the bird and then ascends each turnbuckle saluting the crowd as Flair continues to trash talk the livid Outlaws from the ring.

European Title Tournament First Round

Marty Jannetty vs. Captain Bradshaw w. Sgt Slaughter

http://i50.tinypic.com/20i9imc.jpgvs.http://i32.tinypic.com/20hlbte.jpg

Slaughter was barking instructions towards Bradshaw before the match had even begun and continued to do so throughout. Bradshaw, who had beaten his former tag team partner Blackjack Windham in a brutal match earlier this year, was relishing in this new role and clearly had the abilities needed to get over in this business. With Slaughter at ringside it added a whole new element to his game. The two clearly had chemistry and Slaughter could see things that Bradshaw couldn’t and instructed him to target certain parts of Jannetty which worked wonders.

As Jannetty stumbled back to his feet, Bradshaw sprinted at the ropes and connected hard with his famous running clothesline that he now dubbed ‘The Headshot’.

Winner: Captain Bradshaw

Match Rating: D+

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/8042/jeffjarrett.jpg

The Intercontinental Champion, Jeff Jarrett, makes his way out to ringside. As he attempts to pose for the crowd they continuously boo the Champion which wasn’t the reaction he was looking for.

Jarrett: Are we ever going to get a group of fans that appreciate true greatness when it’s standing right infront of them. You’re all the same. Your all just pieces of trash and not worthy of even being in the same room as me!

The crowd grow hotter and hotter directing their anger straight at Jarrett.

Jarrett: When you’re this good, you don’t need people to love you.

http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/9981/britishbulldog.jpg

Rule, Britannia starts up and British Bulldog makes his way down the ramp joining Jarrett in the ring. Noticeably, Bulldog seems to have strayed away from his usual attire and braids and looks a lot meaner.

Jarrett: How dare you interrupt the Intercontinental Champion as he’s addressing his loving peasants! Get to the back this instant you scallywag!

Bulldog: Jarrett I’m going to make this as simple and as clear as I can in hope that you can understand me. You ready?

Jarrett displays his disgust at Bulldog remarking he is stupid.

Bulldog: I… want… your…Title!

The fans pop as Jarrett starts shaking his head.

Jarrett: No! No! I don’t even know who you are and you come out here requesting Title shots! Get the hell out of here!

http://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpg

The hard hitting music of Degeneration X’s newest recruit, Rhino, plays and he powerfully walks from the back and joins Jarrett and Bulldog in the ring.

Jarrett: Ah! Neither of you are having my…

Jarrett is cut off by a huge gore from Rhino as he charges across the ring. With the Champion laid out on the floor, Bulldog walks over to Bulldog and stares him right in the face. Both men are so evenly matched in build with perhaps Rhino just edging the size game ever so slightly, but no many can live up to the power that Bulldog possesses in his upper body. Rhino stares him straight back, but in the end he is the first to back down and slides out of the ring, the fans clearly not happy as they wanted to see Bulldog and Rhino going at it. Feeling he made his point, Rhino walks off down the ramp leaving Bulldog looking down on him in the ring.

Lawler: Whoa! Bulldog and Rhino want Jarrett's title! I don't know which one I'd rather face.

Ross: I know I wouldn't want to face both of them.

Cornette: Jarrett is one of the biggest prospects in this business, he survived a fatal fourway in his first title defence and he can survive this.

European Title Tournament First Round

Farooq vs. Jerry Lynn

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2077/ronsimmonsas9.jpgvs.http://i50.tinypic.com/smzq0l.jpg

Since the demise of The Nation of Domination at Wrestlemania Farooq is the only member to have not found anything new to do after Kama and D’lo joined Slaughter’s Armed Forces last week. Jerry Lynn had too slowed down since Wrestlemania where he lost to long time rival Jeff Jarrett and this was the perfect opportunity for one of them to get back into the swing of things with a European Championship reign.

Farooq was bigger, stronger and much more powerful, but Lynn was the better wrestler and the better thinker inside the ring. Before rolling into Wrestlemania he had lots of fans and was gathering overness left, right and centre, and although he had lost some of that, he hadn’t lost any of his toughness and wrestling ability.

In the centre of the ring Lynn and Farooq were sharing some nice offence with some good countering until Lynn found a breakthrough and hit Farooq with a cradle piledriver to progress in the tournament.

Winner: Jerry Lynn

Match Rating: C

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/497/tripleh2s.jpg

The music of Degeneration X plays and Triple H comes out from the back alone.

Triple H: So that little punk Owen Hart said last week that he had unfinished business with me. He said he’d beat Rhino and then moved onto to beating me, but he didn’t beat Rhino. So where does that leave you Owen? Your plan has fallen at the first hurdle which is just further proof of the joke that you are. Now let’s discuss that big mouthed son of a b***h, Rocky.

The fans pop at the mention of his name.

Triple H: Last week, Rocky, you interfered with business that does not concern you in the slightest and for some reason that I cannot understand decided to help out Owen Hart.

Triple H looks around the arena with a confused look on his face.

Triple H: Why the hell did you wanna do that, Rock? I mean it’s Owen Hart, anybody else would have just left him to get his ass kicked which was just what he deserved for running his mouth about DX. I’m out here representing Degeneration X, Rock and that means on behalf of Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart who you disrespected last week. You can only dream of the success that he’s had in this business and you can only dream to have the potential that I have.

You two can do whatever you want, team together or just stay apart because whatever you choose to do it won’t rival Degeneration X in the slightest.

*If ya smell… what The Rock… is cooking!*

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4255/therock3.jpg

The Rock walks out from the back complete with sunglasses and a baggy, posh, expensive shirt. He stands on the ramp and begins to exchange words with Triple H.

The Rock: FINALLY…The ROCK… HAS COME BACK... TO BALTIMORE! Triple H, you come out here and you run your mouth about how pathetic Owen Hart is, but yet you refuse to face him in a match. The Rock came down here last week because he respects Owen Hart and also because it was a great chance for The Rock to come down here and layeth the smacketh down all over Degeneration X’s candy asses. Especially that rudi poo candy ass that is know as Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

Triple H: Here we go again, Rock. Mesmerising these idiots with your stupid catchphrases. I mean we are in Baltimore, these idiots will fall for anything, but…

The crowd direct their anger towards Triple H as The Rock raises his eyebrow.

Triple H: You stand there on the ramp trying to talk smack to me. Why don’t you stop hiding it and tell everybody that the reason you standing on the ramp is because you want your ass kicked.

The Rock: You think The Rock is scared of a little jabroni like yourself? How about The Rock comes down to that ring now and you can ONE ON ONE WITH THE GREAT ONE.

The Rock starts making his way down the ring as the crowd heat up. Triple H takes his top off in the ring, but leaves his denim jeans on as The Rock starts to unbutton his shirt.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6349/brethartl.jpg

Suddenly Bret Hart runs from the back and blasts The Rock round the head and onto the ground. He then suplexes him onto the ramp and begins to take him into the ring.

Triple H: I think Bret’s kicking your candy ass there, Rock.

Bret throws The Rock into the ring as the members of DX begin to chuckle to one another. Triple H then heads onto the outside and picks up a steal chair and throws it into the ring where Bret has now locked on the sharpshooter onto The Rock.

http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpg

Ross: It’s Owen! He’s come to return the favour!

Cornette: What the hell is that loser doing out here!?

Owen sprints down to ring as Bret and Triple H quickly vacate the area wanting nothing to do with him. They slyly move around the ring and head back up the ramp and Owen helps The Rock up to his feet.

Mankind vs. ‘Psycho’ Sid Vicious

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2192/mankind1998rs8.jpgvs.http://i45.tinypic.com/2j45xlv.jpg

Well this was obviously not going to be your technical masterpiece, but the fans enjoyed it somewhat. Mankind did his best to drag the slow, sluggish Sid through the match, who wasn’t quite the athlete he used to be and couldn’t last too long in the ring nowadays. Despite this though he still played the monster role well and had a large fanbase.

Nobody expected Sid to beat the former Champion, but they were keeping an eye out for a Terry Funk appearance which they felt was going to happen. It didn’t and Mankind managed to put Sid to bed with a double arm DDT.

Winner: Mankind

Match Rating: C+

After the match Mankind picked up a microphone from ringside.

Mankind: Terry Funk, last week you made a plea for me to face you at Fully Loaded in such a barbaric type of match that I can’t repeat the name of it here on live television. You called me a coward and that made me sad, Terry. It also made me angry, it made me want to take a steel chair and crack open you skull which is something I am looking forward to doing in this type of match. The answer is yes! Yes! I will fight you at Fully Loaded in that unspeakable match. Good luck, Terry Funk.

Ross: Bah gawd! That one is going to be brutal.

Cornette: Mankind has just signed his own death. Funk is going to kill him at Fully Loaded.

Lawler: I don't think I'm going to want to watch it.

Cornette: Mankind should have kept it to normal wrestling, now that Funk has the freedom to do basically whatever he pleases and that is dangerous.

‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. ‘The Street Fighter’ William Regal

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1036/kenshamrock2.jpgvs.http://i47.tinypic.com/28rfi2q.jpg

A very entertaining match involving some very stiff and aggressive offence which was something different than the other matches on the card tonight. After losing under contentious circumstances last week to Kurt Angle, Ken Shamrock was ready to beat his buddy and try to earn another shot against the rising star.

The bout was open and involved plenty of leg action with the kicks of Shamrock and plenty of brutal strikes from Regal who wasn’t dubbed ‘The Street Fighter’ without good reason. He had a history of fighting on the streets of Blackpool, England since he was as young as 15 years old so some would say he was an expert in the area.

After stunning Shamrock with a neckbreaker, Regal locked on the Regal stretch adding excruciating pain on the back and neck. Shamrock showed tremendous resilience though and rolled through into a pinning predicament that favoured him.

1…

2…

Regal just managed to get his shoulder up after the shock of Shamrock countering the hold. Both men were up on their feet at similar times and began slugging it out. Shamrock hit Regal in the head with a long kick causing Regal to stumble into the ropes and fall back into the arms of Shamrock. Huge belly to belly suplex from Shamrock and he went for the ankle. Ankle lock locked in! After about ten seconds or so Regal began to tap showing the effectiveness of the hold and the pain it can cause to some of the toughest competitors.

Winner: Ken Shamrock

Match Rating: C+

Ross: Shamrock sent a clear message to Kurt Angle there.

Cornette: But Regal gave him one hell of a fight and he's not as good as Kurt. Shamrock can't compete with Olympic standard.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shawn Michaels is backstage flanked by Bret Hart and Triple H. He has a microphone in one hand and is ready to deliver a promo on tonight’s match.

Michaels: One week ago me and The Undertaker went out there and we delivered a spectacular main event, no interference, no dirty tactics, and they couldn’t find a winner. Tonight Deadman I don’t care about any of that stuff because I’m pi**ed off! I’m pi**ed off at Vince McMahon for booking this match when I know I’m not ready so I don’t see why I should play by the rules tonight.

The fans boo Michaels statement that he won’t play fair tonight.

Michaels: I have one small issue that has been burning up inside me all week. How are you going to climb up that cell, Undertaker, after all I did to you knee at King of the Ring?

He smiles and turns around at both Bret and Triple H.

Michaels: You can’t, Deadman. You won’t be able to put all that fat weight of yours on the knee and climb out so it’s only a matter of time before I get up and over and you and your little brother (Michaels looks shocked as he says little) can go back to hell or wherever you’re living nowadays and leave my World Title alone!

WWF Tag Team Titles Match

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair © vs. The New Age Outlaws

McMahon had kept to his word that Austin and Flair would defend the Titles every week until they lost them and tonight they faced former Champions, The Outlaws. Austin and Flair received their usual, loud pops at the beginning of the match with Austin’s being considerably louder than Flair’s as per usual showing the transition he has made with his bad ass attitude that he’s developed.

The Outlaws worked well as a team which was to be expected and they also used every form of dirty tactic at their disposal to try and claim back the Titles they lost earlier this year at Wrestlemania. The singles nature of Austin and Flair was on show tonight as both wanted to be in the ring and if they could avoid it, wouldn’t tag in their partner which led to them getting double teamed and worn down occasion.

Austin exploded out of the blocks on Billy Gunn and starting brawling with him on the outside as Flair locked on his notorious finishing maneuver, the figure four leglock for the win on Road Dogg.

Ken Shamrock is walking backstage when he bumps into Kurt Angle.

Angle: Watch where your going, jerk-off!

Shamrock: You'll apologise right now Kurt if you don't want me to make you tap right here backstage.

Angle: Hey, if I'm no mistaken I beat your ass in the ring last week.

Shamrock: You didn't beat my ass, chump. You beat me by cheating.

Angle: I beat you and that's all I'm bothered about. It's true, it's damn true.

Shamrock: Well being the Olympic Hero you claim to be then you'll have no trouble giving me a rematch at Fully Loaded and we'll see who the true master of the ankle lock is.

Angle: You want a rematch Shamrock then I'll give you a damn rematch. I'll break your damn ankle too.

Shamrock: We'll see about that, Kurt.

The two ankle lock masters square up to each as the camera cuts to commercial.

Ross: We have another confirmed match for Fully Loaded.

Lawler: Angle shouldn't underestimate Shamrock no matter how much of a Champion wrestler he is.

Ross: There's no doubting that Shamrock is as tough as they come.

Cornette: If Angle really wanted to he'd have made Shamrock tap last week, but all he needed to do was win.

Ross: And now Shamrock will get his chance for some revenge, but now we one of the biggest main events in Raw history.

Steel Cage Match for the WWF World Heavyweight Title

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels w. Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart and Triple H vs. ‘The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker w. ‘The Big Red Monster’ Kane

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpgvs.http://i36.tinypic.com/14ipjwz.jpg

Two weeks ago at King of the Ring these two superstars combined for a five star match containing brilliant story telling, methodical build up, smart strategy, and two men who just would not lose. If people had come to Raw expecting the same type of match then they would be very much mistaken because this was just all out from start to finish. The Undertaker hit the blocks running as soon as the cage door was locked and Michaels was the one playing catch up. It seemed like The Deadman had decided that after Michaels’ brilliant strategy of targeting his knee last time, this time he wasn’t going to let that happen.

Undertaker charged at Michaels from the off backing him into the corner where he could begin to work the body with some hard shots. He then threw Michaels into the opposite corner and charged once again launching his whole bodyweight at the Champion connecting with splash causing Michaels to shuffle down in the corner, the wind knocked out of him. Undertaker drove his long leg sickeningly into the face of Michaels and stretched backwards using the ropes for leverage. Undertaker picked Michaels up from the heap he was in and, clutching his head, ran at the steel cage looking to feed the hungry cage with the flesh of Michaels, but he reached out both hands and blocked it following up with a harsh, but fair due to the nature of the match, low blow.

Michaels now had a chance to go on the offence and without a second thought grabbed the legs of Undertaker and locked on the figure four leglock which Undertaker didn’t have a chance to do anything about. Undertaker squirmed around in the ring and even managed to reach the rope at one pivotal moment, but Michaels pulled him away, a move that was unceremoniously booed, but with no referee in the ring to tell him otherwise, he couldn’t have cared less. Tapping couldn’t even save The Undertaker because as Ross reminded the viewing audience, the only way to win was to escape the cage. To Undertaker’s credit though, maybe out of complete principal or maybe he just knew it wouldn’t break the hold, he never tapped. No matter how much pain the hold placed on his legs and already injured knee, he wouldn’t let Michaels have the satisfaction of making his hand hit the mat.

A relatively fresh Michaels finally released the hold and began to climb the cage as Bret and Triple H moved into a position to catch him as he moved closer to the top, but there was just one rather large problem. Kane. He pounced on both members of DX and laid them out with his bare hands before staring up at a petrified Michaels who, if he jumped, would be caught by The Big Red Monster. Michaels was at a dilemma. Undertaker was stumbling to his feet and he had to choose. He stood on top of the cage, gulped, and then attempted to hit The Undertaker with a moonsault! Undertaker saw Michaels flying down at him and lifted his knees up as the fans began a ‘holy ****!’ chant.

Ross:
Bah gawd! Good god almighty! Did you see that?!? Michaels must have broken ribs!

Lawler:
I don’t know how he’s still breathing.

Michaels was in a lot of pain, but luckily for him so was The Undertaker. The figure four leglock had just blown away any recovery effect that one week of rest had had on his legs and knee after Michaels worked them over tirelessly the other night. The Undertaker was fine everywhere else, but if you can’t stand up then you’re not going to be able to climb the cage.

Undertaker signaled towards the door of the steel cage. Kane moved over to the referee guarding the door and chokeslammed him on the protective mat. He then clutched hold of the chain which was locking the door, put his foot on the cage and pulled. The momentum made him flew backwards hitting his back on the barricade, but Undertaker now had his escape route as the door swung open. Bret and Triple H hit Kane from behind and began an effective double team leaving Undertaker to try to crawl out of the cage.

Michaels was on his feet and immediately dropped his elbow a few times on Undertaker’s bad knee. The match hadn’t really taken off yet, but still the fans could sense its conclusion. Just two moves had taken a hell of a lot out of two wrestlers who had already been unable to move last night.

Michaels was extremely close to exiting the door, but somehow Kane had managed to break free of Bret and Triple H. He ran over to the door and slammed it straight into Michaels face. Michaels recoiled in pain and immediately checked his forehead. It only takes one shot from the unforgiving steel to scar a person for life. Michaels looked back down at his now red hands and rose to his feet as The Undertaker did the same, albeit with some help from the turnbuckle. Undertaker stumbled to the centre of the ring and then just collapsed into the arms of Michaels, his legs simply couldn’t hold his weight.

Michaels pushed Undertaker away and tried to hit sweet chin music, but The Deadman caught his foot and reeled Michaels in like he had just caught a fish. He hoisted Michaels up on his shoulder as the crowd began to cheer and then slumped into the ropes, his legs giving way again. No he used the ropes for momentum. Tombstone!

Both men were down for a suspended period of time before slowly making their own way back up to a wide vertical base. It seems that one week was nowhere near enough time that they needed to recover from the grueling match from last night. Undertaker and Michaels began slugging it out in the middle of the ring. Punch after punch with both men teetering. Undertaker fell to his knee occasionally and had to try and power himself back up which was easier said than done in his condition.

Undertaker fell down to both knees and Michaels saw his opportunity. Sweet Chin Music! No! He missed it! Undertaker had fallen into the ropes and was now back on his feet. He exploded off the ropes and floored Michaels using his own bodyweight. Undertaker slowly clambered to his feet and grabbed the throat of Michaels picking him up for chokeslam. Michaels fell behind him and pushed him away. Sweet Chin Music! Undertaker caught Michaels foot again. Michaels was jumping up and down on one foot and then just out of instinct connected with a enzuigiri which looked to have completely knocked The Deadman out cold.

Michaels looked at his fallen prey as the crowd broke into unanimous booing. Rhino had stormed from the back and gored an astounded Kane to the floor. He leapt into the ring and lifted Michaels onto his shoulder and carried the Degeneration X leader to safety as the crowd continued to express their disgust much like when Bret had turned on his brother at the Royal Rumble although without all the foreign objects flying from their hands.

Winner and still WWF World Heavyweight Champion, Shawn Michaels

Match Rating: A

Rhino left the arena with Michaels almost instantly, in close pursuit were Bret Hart and Triple H whose roles at ringside had been completely thwarted thanks to Kane. Unfortunately for The Undertaker, one more of Michaels stooges proved just too much for his brother to deal with on the outside.

Michaels reached the very top of the ramp and looked back to see Kane standing in the ring his arms in the air. He brought them down and a lightening bolt flew from the sky narrowly missing the members of DX that were gathered on the ramp.

Thanks a lot for the picks once again guys.

I'm hoping to get the remaining two Raw's up before next Sunday and then that'll leave me at a good place while I go on holiday for two weeks. Fully Loaded won't be a hugely spectacular show and will be acting as a sort of bridge before Summerslam which is a stacked carded with one or two twists. I'm hoping that Summerslam will be an impressive show.
