Good music for training

Whatever gets you pumped!

Personally I only have music on when working out on my own, running, etc. If I'm doing drills or sparring, I'm listening to my coach/partner so music isn't an issue.

For working out I tend to go with trance/tech-house etc...something to keep pace to. If I'm hitting a bag on my own I stick some oldskool punk on.

This might sound odd, but for me, Dr. Dre & Ice Cube's Natural Born Killer REALLY gets the blood pumping! That and White Zombie's Thunderkiss 65 set visions not of sugarplums but of EC-Dub bouncing through my head, and once that starts, I'm pretty much bouncing off the walls.

I'm a wild, wild, wild and crazy dvdWarrior...

I have a playlist on my iPhone made just for motivation when I need to get pumped up. I think some of these songs may help your search:

Defy You - The Offspring

Drowning Pool - Tear Away

Drowning Pool - Bodies

Journey - Eye of the Tiger

John Williams - Superman theme (Wanna fight about it?)

Otherworld - Nubou Uematsu

Our Lady Peace - Not Enough (Perfect for the perfectionist in you)

Queen - We will rock you

Rockys Theme (Need I say more?)

Seether - Out of my Way (Zach Gowens theme. HIGHLY recommended)

Not really offering any insight to the original discussion, but this song is phenomenal. Actually, everything off of Gravity is, I believe.

As for the original discussion, I think it's all preference. For me, I usually go with whatever strikes me at that moment. It tends to be heavier stuff, like Disturbed's "Ten Thousand Fists" or something, if I'm working out.

This is for my basic routine of cardio and speed training (parachute sprints, spinning, bike, etc) and weight training along with some basic yoga, aikido, and kenpo routines. About 2-2.5 hrs a day, six days a week (with stretching on the seventh day). For me it's not just about music cadence but lyrics that basically answer the subconscious "WTF are you doing this for? You're already in shape!" question that constantly floats around my mind.
