Signing specific talents to contracts allows us to create an environment where the stars can crossover into other areas of the network, adding interest into Sports Entertainment NOW and the rest of our broadcasts. The exclusivity allows us to create our own microcosm of celebrity culture, ensuring that we can elevate the name value of the talent as we wish, and in essence controlling the perception of them to the audience by allowing it to exist in under the “NOW” umbrella. This also of course gives us a core of home-grown talents.

I'm going to be doing a modified Road to Glory-type challenge, modified meaning that I'll only be taking the stats part, adjusting my age to 16 and otherwise becoming owner ofa 0/0/0/0 promotion, with all user preferences on, to make the game harder.

I know my way around the game, I just have no idea about the nuances of wrestling booking, and usually fail to launch, so to speak.

But, watching a complete newbie stumble his way through may be interesting, and perhaps I could improve my writing skills in the process (I'm an author, a published one at that.)

I may only make one post every couple of days or so, as I have holidays and my brother wants my attention, and I've gotta keep an eye on and roleplay in another online community (NationStates), but hopefully I can make this a good first time diary.

They found me in some hidden away opium den somewhere in the Sha Tin district of Hong Kong. I'm not sure how they found me, but it couldn't have been easy. They tell me I was pretty messed up, almost unrecognizable. Babbling, they said, ranting almost incoherently about some backstabbing Tunisian whore. Probably best I don't remember most of it.

It's a scary thing, being completely out of your mind on the strongest junk possible for an unemployed "former" millionaire and seeing four large men in suits coming at you through the darkness and smoke. Your mind plays out many scenarios, but your body won't respond to any of them. Are they here for money? Cops here to arrest you for something you don't remember doing? Perhaps the fathers of young women whose virtue has been tainted by your touch. But for all the bizarre ideas that crawled through my fogged brain, nothing could have prepared me.

The next few weeks were a blur. They took me somewhere to dry out. Cold turkey even, which may have been the most unholy awful experience I have ever known. I only remember flashes...the pain, the sickness, the horror of returning to a reality I had long since hoped to forget.

But then the fog lifted. One morning, sometime in mid-summer, I woke up clear headed. First time in what seemed like years but I would later learn had only been few months. My head clear, I could remember what had happened and why I ended up where I was, and I felt such a sudden spike of rage and regret that I seriously considered finding my way back to that dark and dreary den back in Sha Tin.

It was at that moment that HE came in. What was he doing here? Was I really sober, or was I still in that den, pipe in hand, and this was just some illusion? But no...he was here. Immaculately tailored as always. His hair was shorter, grayer than I remembered. Had it really been so long since I'd seen Sam in person?

I sat up in the bed as my old friend lead against the door.

"Ya look like Hell, Jackie." He shook his head. "What happened to you?"

"You know what happened. You had to have heard. Everyone did." I didn't recognize my voice. Smoke from the den and months of little to no speaking had strained it, aged it. I sounded older, more somber. It surprised me how much different it was. "What do you want, Sam? Should have just left me; it's where I belong."

My friend's mouth turned up in that little smile of his, the one that made you want to laugh with him or smack him in the damned teeth depending on the circumstances. Today, I was in the latter grouping.

Still smiling, he said "You know you don't belong there. You may not remember it, but I know where you do belong. In the ring."

I snorted, sounding more bitter than even I thought I would. "And what company would hire me to work a match?"

The smile didn't waver. If anything, it only got more intense. "I would..." He paused, the grin shining ever brighter. "But not to 'work a match.' I want you to help me to run the whole show."

I was stunned to silence for what seemed like an eternity. What could you say to that?

It's been three months since that day. Now here I am, ready to run my first event. The man who seeks redemption. The phoenix rising from the ashes.

My name is Jack Bruce...and I am the new head booker for Mid Atlantic Wrestling.

*****

The background idea here is that Jack showed up to an event intoxicated, but managed to hide it until his match. During the match itself, he botched a move on Eric Eisen, permanently paralyzing him and resulting in Bruce being blacklisted by the SWF. Because of this event, even TCW and USPW wouldn't touch him. He set out to work in Japan, did a few tours with WLW, but couldn't get over the accident and descended into alcoholism and drug abuse, eventually finding him at the beginning of this narrative.

I've been working on this product periodically. Not sure how long it would be until I'll produce anything post-worthy, but I'm working at it.

Theoretical question here.

Say I'm wanting to make a dynasty that tracks three promotions under one umbrella banner. One promotion would get the full write up treatment whereas the other two would get monthly recaps with big events get a full write up. Would I be better off doing this in one main thread that contains all the promotions, two threads with one dedicated to the main promotion and the other dedicated to the two smaller promotions or three threads that focus on a promotion each?

Hey folks. This isn't a diary preview but figured this was the best place to put this.

I've been wanting to start a new diary for the past 2/3 years but I can never get it started. The idea is to do a WWE diary that is realistic, but improving in the things the WWE gets badly wrong, whilst sticking with things they get right. So keeping the best things that make sense whilst putting my own spin on things. I pick out a start point that makes sense, then just enjoy watching the WWE for the next few months to see where things are going so I have a good realistic base to work off. For example what I'm currently planning on is having a diary start the night after Summerslam, and I decided this not long after the event itself. It's a good place to start with HHH screwing Bryan, and Cena going off for surgery for a while, and also the standard of the next few ppv's after Summerslam were pretty poor so I can change things up to improve them.

However, having planned to make this week the week I sit down and look at things, I suddenly think, would it make sense to start after the Rumble? I've done this several times now and it's annoying. Thing is I absolutely don't want to start there as I don't want Wrestlemania to be only the second ppv in my diary, however I've looked at what would be a really good but realistic card given the current goings on in the WWE. I still want to start back at Summerslam but then if I end up with most matches at Mania being similar in terms of realism but with my own way of getting there and my own matches as well in some cases, will it be worth it, as 8 months in to a diary and things are still similarish to real?

Even if I did decide screw it I'm going to start the night after the Rumble, then something else will happen that makes me think a different starting point would be better. It's a vicious cycle.

I want to see what the card will be for Mania either way before I start as I do want it to be realistic to real life, but to be able to change what I don't think is good.

I've got an idea in my head as to matches that should happen at Mania regardless of whether they come up in real.

I really do want and intend to start it after Summerslam, but I always end up looking at another point and thinking it would be so much more ideal a point to start from.

I don't expect any help with this, it was just an outlet to vent my frustrations really.

I know how you feel. It's why I struggle with Real World diaries and trying to keep it pretty realistic while also watching the show and seeing stuff you wished you'd done. I agree it'd be best to start at Summerslam, since there's a 'head start' where you can get into the save while knowing how they did it. Once you reach real time you will have changed quite a bit so it probably would bother you so much I'd think. I see no problem with you basing a lot of the early stuff on what WWE did, it's what I've done in the past to help get into the flow of it with a 2002 game and 2006.

See, I know all that makes sense but I always just end up constantly questioning myself.

If I change too much, then it isn't realistic and I'm just changing for changes sake. If I barely change anything then I'm essentially just recapping 6 months of WWE for everyone <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

As I say I think I'll just wait and see what the WMXXX card will be, maybe even watch as far as WMXXX itself then set about starting from Summerslam.

Absolutely no intention of starting post Rumble even though looking at it now it would be the easier and probably more initially exciting thing to do, as having Mania in my diary so early would be an anti-climax (even though my previous diary started the night after the Rumble).

I know what 'mistakes' I want to rectify and which things I want to keep (with my own little tweaks as well). But if I start working on it now, even though I always planned on starting around now, Mania will happen and I'll be like 'oh yeah that would have been a great match to have' or 'now they've made that match that I didn't see coming, that makes far more sense than mine'.

Also, to add, I'll be doing my diary a little differently. I won't be using the game, but I'm planning on divising an algorithm to have some random injuries now and then so it won't be a case of everyone is always available. But that's another problem, as soon as I get a random injury to Cena or Punk and it messes my plans up then I'm screwed. I guess I could follow real life injuries/return times but then everyone knows when someone will get injured and return, so I can't do that. Meh, I'll figure something out.

I've finally got a well-planned long-term game going and I've started writing it up as a diary. The only problem is that I created the game without that intention and with a kind of unrealistic scenario in mind (Nemesis taking over ownership of USPW with Sam Strong getting older, but Strong sticking around as on-screen GM). Writing background realistically is something I feel is important and has just never been in the cards for this game.

Also, I've posted some things about the game to "Booking USPW" and "What's Going on in Your Game" threads. I started the game over and changed some, but not all, of those things.

Would people be interested in reading anyways?

As Nemesis, you can change the product into a more edgy one (while feuding backstage with Sam Strong over the company's direction), bring in his son Ash Campbell and Peter Valentine's nephew Casey (who isn't a jerk like his uncle), and give the USPW a different identity far removed from its old one.

At least that's how I'd do it.
After what I posted on the last page I've come to the perfect compromise, having had an epiphany.

I won't be starting my new diary the night after Summerslam, but will instead be starting it the night after Battleground. This is still more than far enough away from Wrestlemania - which will now be the 6th ppv in my diary as opposed to the 8th - and still allows me to change the things I was most keen to change with the added bonus of the feuds that I was pretty much looking to copy quite closely now being well in place rather than having to copy them from the start.

I can start my diary and get a good few months in place whilst still waiting to see what real WWE do from now up to Wrestlemania, and I have never felt better in terms of finally starting my new diary than I do now <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
