It's the very reason I started modding in the first place, and the same reason I started the Mission Thread in the first place. Great to see the community all come together, it only took 8 years but we got there <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I remember, must have been around TEW2005 - TEW2007, a lot of mod makers were very anti-sharing. I don't want to throw names out, but there was one guy that I remember who was very much against letting other people use his data. A real shame. I don't think it was your approach of "hey, here's my data, use it as you wish" that paved the way for others to do the same.

Not to intentionally throw a wrench in this thought process which is very good, if not outstanding, but...

I recall some of the things that happened a while back, and I just want to state that there were definitely quite a few mod-makers that would share their work on a regular basis, if they were asked. The problem some of them had (and I know there were others, but just pointing out some things people, especially newer people might not know) was other mod makers completely ripping off their hard (well, hard work maybe not, but definitely tedious as hell work), and passing it off as their own. Examples of Promotions and workers with exact same bios and stats, with or without roster, year or month of starting date changes. I mean sometimes it was the exact same mod with only the name changing.

However, I have asked just about every mod maker that has created from scratch, or taken something small and built it into something huge, if I could use their data at some point in time. I do not recall a single one of them saying no. From the ever working Genadi to one of the more creative people I've ever known in D. Boon's Ghost, to various "community" based mods.

I 've never actually figured on releasing my own mod, but I was being very creative with their mods, changing things around and making it more to my taste and liking. Just in case I make something I think everyone would appreciate me sharing out of all the mods I've been given permission to utilize, I can actually release it.

Overall, I wouldn't say the community of mod makers has ever been "stingy" or "egotistical". There's a difference in "No, you can't use my work at all, because mine is so much better then anything else!" and "No, I can't give you permission to use my work because you already have and didn't care to ask me, let me know, or even mention me in the credits." It's different now, in that everyone is giving everyone respect for what they have done, no matter if it's just cutting a few worker pics or full bios and stats. Mod Makers want to share, and are stating exactly how they would like for you to handle their sharing (Please give credit for my work or I don't need credit, just if you use mine make yours as free as mine is).

It's a little bit on both sides. Mod makers are stating that they want to share, and how they would like credit. Mod makers starting out with "base mods" are asking and giving total credit where it is due.

It's a good thing. I just wanted to point out that although there might have been a couple of "stingy/egotistical" types out there. All the one's that I actually thought had great skill or imagination for making mods have always liked to share their work. Quick example: I absolutely love the bios for workers, promotions, etc. in the original DOTT series. I don't think I have heard anyone else say any different about them. You could actually hate every stat, and want to utilize all those bios.... Right Genadi? Speaking of Genadi, anyone making a historical mod would be crazy not to try to utilize his Narratives. People like MJStark have been throwing us out random trinkets for years, and the popular IER organic mods, there have been match mods, storyline mods, angle mods, etc. Over the years all these things were always free to use from these mod maker types. All you had to do was ask, and not rip it off and utilize it as if you did the work yourself.

I was one of the people looking forward to your mod.

Anyways, I wanted to say that if you get a new hard drive, and don't erase your old one... IF there is any life in it at all, you might be able to actually get some important things off there that you want. I have done this on numerous occasions since the late 90's. A drive has gone bad, or a virus has taken it over, or whatever happened over the years, I have lost data so many times it's not funny when I first started messing around with computers and the internet (Mainly from malicious virus or what have you). A few years ago my hard drive was going bad, I bought a new hard drive as well as an external hard drive. I basically set up my computer as if it was new on the new hard drive, and then I accessed the old drive that was going bad (was so bad I, although it would boot up windows, I couldn't make a "disc image" with the external hard drive for it.). I grabbed all the things I could think of off of it. From Office programs, to games, to whatever documents I don't want to lose.

Also, these external drives are a blessing. They have lots of room and are not real expensive. I use seagate (mainly because of the price), but I recommend anyone getting one of these. Anything really important, or programs you want to make sure you always have can be put on these, and it takes a clear load off your mind... (Not to mention the disc images you can make with them, for total back up).

I'm hoping someone would be willing to help make a 2007 or 2008 mod? I know it's kind of a random time for a mod, but I liked what was going on at the time and I think it'd be a fun mod to do.

Anyone willing? <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

My arena file is freeware, of course. There's really no point to making it if it's not!

Plus the previous version is ubiquitous in a lot of mods already, so that's just the continuity of that.

About the good ol' days of the mod wars... I'll just quote my favourite video game...

"Our era of folly is over. I'm the only one left (?), and soon, I'll be gone too." - Big Boss, MGS4

Genadi has made the ol' days obsolete with his work. And the community is better now than ever. I just hope for a boom period in wrestling so that you guys have a greater audience. The game and the mod work are awesome.

"This is good, isn't it?" - Same

Long Post

The only thing that I never got was people who didn't want you to use their pictures in your mod. That' just weird to me. Why would I through the trouble of generating thousands of pictures, uploading them and wanting them there just for you to look at but never "touch."

I couldn't understand it. It drives me crazy that people think they need to ask me if they can use my organic pictures. Of course they can. I upload them because I want people to use them! Instead of credit, I want you to advertise them lol so more people will move away from kyky.

I'll just never forget into an argument with someone here about whether a Shawn Michaels cut I had in a pack was his or mine. I do cut my stuff myself, but even if I happened to release a single cut of someone else's on accident, why would it matter? It's a PICTURE CUT! lol.

And while I was at it, another 1995 era cut. I'll be posting them in the Organic Cuts thread.

Our server bill is due at the end of the month over at EWWAREHOUSE.INFO. The site is, and always will be free to use but if anyone who enjoys and appreciates the site has some extra funds that they'd like to donate to the cause I would definitely appreciate it and it would help ease the personal cost on me!

That one hasn't been made for TEW2013. Pretty sure it was made for TEW2010 though. So all you'd have to do is convert it.
