<p>Thanks for all the feedback guys - means a lot for people, particularly people who's work I also respect, to be giving me any feedback at all - let alone praise!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Beejus" data-cite="Beejus" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Wow, a new Horsemen of those four? When I first read through it, Orton is the only one I'm not too sure about, but it's growing on me somewhat. Sounds like Bockwinkel will be busy mentoring all these people - can't wait for what sounds like an inevitable Flair vs Bock battle of legends! I'm digging the teams in the Crockett Cup, and I'm actually very excited to see you with teams like the Freebirds and Von Erichs on hand, and just seeing who is on the team I think I really want to see you push the Memphis Mafia!<p> </p><p> WTF IS UP WITH THAT KEVIN SULLIVAN PICTURE</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> As you can see Flair/Bock is very much on the cards! Couldn't believe that AWA had let him go! There's a ton of mileage in an extended programme between Bock and the Naitch - the promos would be to die for!</p><p> </p><p> To be totally honest, Orton becoming a Horseman as a decision I agonised over for a while. My initial plan was to turn Kerry as I thought that would be a more shocking cross but being able to book the Freebirds against Von Erichs was too strong an urge to pass on as well. Then as TFC and I concoted our 'invasion' plan and he had mentioned in his post about how he should've probably resigned him it all fell into place!</p><p> </p><p> We'll need to see how the Mafia go but I do have a couple of very distinct plans involving them coming up!</p><p> </p><p> As for the Sullivan pic... yeah... take that up with Justtxyank! It's... colourful.... In my mind it explains why Sullivan isn't too busy being involved in any title pushes at this time... he's a little disturbed!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smwilliams" data-cite="smwilliams" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Awesome first show and the big thing for me in real world diaries is the voices of the "characters". You nailed Flair and Dusty, in particular. Looks like I've got another dynasty bookmarked.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thanks very much - love writing for both of them - Anderson & Orton were more exposition than character but hopefully I'll be able to catch their voices in the next few weeks.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="justtxyank" data-cite="justtxyank" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I actually dig Orton as a Horseman, good pick there. <p> </p><p> Not sure about Terry Taylor. He was always a little too pretty boy, but he's a good wrestler so it will be nice to see as you book him. </p><p> </p><p> I always thought Big John Studd would have made a good horsemen personally</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Hope the latest show clears up why I've gone for Taylor. I see my version of the Horsemen as being the follow-on from the last one on TV in my gameworld (the Luger version). Ole has become JJ, Windham is Tully, I see Orton as Arn and Taylor as Luger. While Luger was a bit of a flop, I felt the original intent was to take a raw talent and give him the rub of just hanging with the very best. Taylor has real potential in my mind.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Danish Superhero" data-cite="Danish Superhero" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Pretty awesome read so far.<p> </p><p> For a minute I feared Dusty would be a horseman, luckily you didn't go down that route, not keen on Terry Taylor being a horseman yet, but we'll see how he fares.</p><p> </p><p> You gained a follower, good luck mate.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thanks very much - no way was Dusty going to be a Horseman - the crowd would've rioted!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="jhd1" data-cite="jhd1" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>No thoughts particularly regarding Terry Taylor - I have only really ever seen him as Red Rooster and know not to judge him based on that alone!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> As TFC and Smasher both said, Taylor got a bad break - he could've been Mr. Perfect and while I struggle to see anyone but Curt Hennig playing that role now... you never know! As a bit of a nod to that (and the Fantastic Ones) I've dubbed Taylor as 'Mr. Fantastic'.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Beejus" data-cite="Beejus" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Honestly, I think Taylor will make a fine Horseman for you. He was a very, very good athlete, with a great look for a company like JCP. Had the Rooster not happened, I think Taylor would have held far more titles in his career - midcard titles or lower company world titles sure, but its proof of how one bad gimmick can destroy a person's livelihood if it is horrible enough. Until the day you would ever be able to steal back Tully, Terry will fill his role in the group just fine.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah if Tully or Arn become available anytime soon then Terry might have to start looking over his shoulder! (Although I suspect that I'd have some stiff competition on my hands to pick them up...)</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="The Final Countdown" data-cite="The Final Countdown" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Ah, poor, stupid Dusty. That's what he gets for passing on the chance to jump ship and headline Survivor Series! (BTW, if anyone is wondering: that's 100% legit. He was initially going to be on Hogan's team, but he rejected me and I wound up pilfering Slaughter from the AWA instead.)<p> </p><p> Who'd have ever thought that me firing Barry O. would one day be a major point of discussion in a promo? It's still early obviously, but I'm really liking the way this collab is working so far. The game world feels 'alive', and I honestly have never been more invested in either of the diaries I've run than I am right now.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah... Dusty never did learn did he?!! He's not quite bad as Sting or Hogan but his trust radar is still waaaay off!</p><p> </p><p> I tried to base all of my 'motivation' off 'real life events' - you mentioned that Bob had been angry since day 1 after you firing Barry and his mood never lifted - so I wrote it in! Don't get me wrong <em>I'm</em> not going to hire him but still!</p><p> </p><p> Glad it's given you a boost and I'm certainly enjoying it too!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaysin" data-cite="Jaysin" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>After reading the show and people's responses I was going to defend Terry, but you beat me to it. I grew up watching WCW, so I didn't even see the Red Rooster, but I've always liked him.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> And hopefully no-one in this game Universe ever will!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Smasher1311" data-cite="Smasher1311" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>A great first show. This new group looks very good, and yes, what killed Taylor's career was really the gimmick of The Red Rooster. Man, when your biggest moment is a victory over Bobby Heenan, you know that it really sucks. From what i've read, Taylor was a candidate to becoming Mr. Perfect, but it was Hennig who became Perfect, obviously.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> No shame in beating Heenan... according to Ric Flair, Bobby was one of the most underated all-rounders in the business. And who am I to disagree?! But yeah, no fear of seeing the Rooster around here!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Tweek It" data-cite="Tweek It" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Got a reader in me. I'm still torn between which side I should pick. Its going to be odd seeing a Horsemen group with The Enforcer or Blanchard. Hopefully you can get them back. I think I've mentioned them to TFC but the Harris boys as The Bruise Brothers would be a good fit for any tag division. I was/still am a fan of their old look and don't know why.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I've a pretty solid tag division right now with the teams in the Crockett Cup and even a couple that failed to make the grade... but that being said I'll definitely keep them in mind if I'm looking to extend or freshen up the division.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Again, thanks to everyone who's taken the time to read and I'm blown away by the positive feedback. Stay tuned because we're only getting warmed up!</p>

If I didn't have the Windham/Garvin situation to clean up then I'd have stripped Ivan of one of the belts - I didn't want to vacate any more belts at the minute though so I've let it slide...</p><p> </p><p> As for LazerTron - the character is the absolute pits but Hector Guerrero can work so it's a quandry... not fully decided what I'm going to do there but I have a couple of ideas.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Franticloser" data-cite="Franticloser" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Awesome first two shows, between you and Final, it's like the Monday night wars here now. I hope you guys keep these running for a long time(like Nevy long, you guys actually might give him a run for his money as far as the write ups and characters go) </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Very early days (well for me anyway...) but I'd love to make this a long term dynasty. Part of the reason I waited a month to book behind the scenes was to see if it would give me the creative urge to keep going without jeopardising TFC's work - I think I can speak on behalf of both of us when I say that we're both interested in seeing how far we can take this. Very high praise with that comparison and while I think I'm still a fair bit off that high watermark, I'm flattered to be mentioned in the same breath!</p>

Great start, will be reading this one too. Good luck with trying to battle against WWF. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>That's right you did say the AI was the previous booker, I am not sure why I forgot that as that is the whole point of the diary at the start.<img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Anyway...the AI does tend to book some very odd stuff when it comes to any Real World Mod. I guess we can chalk it up to this being an alternative time and in that time Lazer should be TV Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

Oh and I forgot to mention this in my previous post, kudos on the first two shows. You did a great job on both of them.</p>

Luger got the better of their previous exchanges and it proved the same way here. Although game, LazerTron was out of his depth when it came to dealing with a man of Luger’s size. The highlight of the match came when Luger seemed to have LazerTron in his patented Torture Rack... only for the high flier to push off against the top turnbuckle, performing a flip and landing on his feet behind Luger... that was enough to bring Ron Simmons into the fray. Although much smaller than Gordy, Denny Brown has never been short of heart and he threw everything he had into this match. His opponent though did little more than laugh as Brown’s blows failed to make an impact. After two minutes of this he seemed to grow bored, flooring Brown with a massive punch of his own. Getting slowly to his feet Brown, started his ineffective offense again, Gordy whipped Brown into the ropes who came back with a quick Crossbody... that Gordy effortlessly caught before smashing Brown’s prone body on the back of his knee. Before Nick Bockwinkel’s unexpected arrival, Windham & Taylor would’ve been the clear favourite for this bout but with two former world champions on the same page things were set to be very different! What followed was a strong bout with a personal dimension added. Bockwinkel turned back the years, putting the hurt on Taylor who, for all his confidence, seemed to be slightly over-awed by his stellar opponents. When those two weren’t putting on their technical display, it was down to Windham and Rhodes to duke it out in a vicious brawl. All the while Orton was providing very one sided colour commentary much to the disgust of Bob Caudle. The ending to the bout came when Taylor had Bockwinkel caught in a figure four. Attempting to reach the hot tag to Rhodes, Orton got up from the announce desk and pulled Rhodes off the apron, referee Earl Hebner was distracted at the fracas while Bockwinkel looked on the verge of quitting. Taylor broke off the hold and put the boots to Bock instead. While Orton was being removed from the ring area, Taylor found himself distracted standing by the ropes and remonstrating on behalf of his stablemate... Hebner turned back around just in time for Bockwinkel to grab Taylor from behind and catch him in a schoolboy! Windham rushed the ring but was too late! </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: Dusty Rhodes & Nick Bockwinkel with a Schoolboy from Bockwinkel on Taylor at 20:37</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: C+</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/DustyRhodes.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/NickBockwinkel.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/BobOrtonJr.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/BarryWindham.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/TerryTaylor.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/OleAnderson.jpg</span><p> </p><p> The match is over and the two celebrate for the fans while the dejected Horsemen make their way to the back. My layout has an all-heel Semifinal match between the Freebirds and Horsemen, but going for a Von Erich/Freebird final and figuring there's no way Flair and Orton lose to the likes of LazerTron and Fernandez, it was unavoidable. The only singles match on the show I question is the US title match, because I don't see Ivan holding the belt for long, but I'm not sure Barbarian is the guy to take it off of him. Windham over Garvin seems obvious, Terry Taylor needs a quality win to get him over as a worthy Horseman, and Liger ought to make a big splash in his debut.</p>

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: The Memphis Mafia vs The Fabulous Ones

Not much idea here but since I had face team advance on the other one, I pick a heel team here.

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: The Von Erichs vs The All Americans

All Americans haven´t been on a same page lately and that will continue here.

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: Dusty Rhodes & Nick Bockwinkel vs The Fabulous Freebirds

I don´t see your top two faces getting into this tournament and then just lose in the first round.

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: Manny Fernandez & LazerTron vs Ric Flair & Bob Orton Jr.

Horsemen goes forward here in order to face Dusty and Nick at the next round, I doubt you want to put Dusty and Nick in the finals after that bad chemistry note they got.

Crockett Cup: Semi Final: Memphis Mafia vs Von Erichs

They are higher on the ladders plus I have heel team advance from other Semi final match so faces need to advance on this one.

Crockett Cup: Semi Final: Rhodes & Bockwinkel vs Flair & Orton

Interferences will decide this match to Horsemen´s favor.

Crockett Cup & NWA US Tag Team Title: Von Erichs vs Flair & Orton

Dusty and Nick will return the favor here and cost Flair & Orton this one. Besides, I think that a real tag team should win this one espesially since there are tag titles on the line.

Ron Garvin vs Barry Windham

Ok, first of all, I have to admit that this timeline is well before I started watching wrestling so I have very little idea about who is good in this era and it shows here since I don´t know much about either one of these guys even though they clearly are big names. Right, now that I covered my back, I guess I can make a boneheaded pick and that´s what I´m likely doing here as I go for upset and have Garvin go over. Why? Simply because your main event is heel heavy and could use another face and my very limited knowledge says that Garvin looks like the best option plus Barry ahs Horsemen to back him up so he can take a tough loss or two as long as he wins his next few matches.

Big Bubba Rogers vs Terry Taylor

I agree with The Final Countdown on Terry needing the win here in order to establish himself.

NWA United States Heavyweight Title: The Barbarian vs Ivan Koloff ©

No idea so I just go with current champion.

Jushin Liger vs Johnny Ace

Going with the guy I know.

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: The Memphis Mafia vs The Fabulous Ones

This is a tough call because I was a huge fan of Eddie Gilbert and Stan Lane but I dislike both of their partners on their respective teams. I always felt that Idol was a little bland or at least he was when I used to watch Memphis wrestling.

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: The Von Erichs vs The All Americans

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: Dusty Rhodes & Nick Bockwinkel vs The

Fabulous Freebirds

As much as I like the Freebirds, I highly doubt they can or will beat a team that has a former NWA World Champion and a former AWA World Champion on it.

Crockett Cup: Quarter Final: Manny Fernandez & LazerTron vs Ric Flair & Bob Orton Jr.

I would be very shocked if LazerTron picked up the win here.

Crockett Cup: Semi Final: Memphis Mafia vs Von Erichs

Crockett Cup: Semi Final: Rhodes & Bockwinkel vs Flair & Orton

Crockett Cup & NWA US Tag Team Title:Von Erichs vs Flair & Orton

I see very little point in giving the US Tag Titles to Flair so the Von Erichs should walk away with the gold here.

Ron Garvin vs Barry Windham

I see zero upside in allowing Ron Garvin to pick up the win here, he is just too old.

Big Bubba Rogers vs Terry Taylor

NWA United States Heavyweight Title: The Barbarian vs Ivan Koloff ©

There are better people than the Barbarian on your roster to have hold the US Title. Might as well allow Uncle Ivan to keep it a little longer.

Jushin Liger vs Johnny Ace

Please Johnny Ace as not shot of winning here.

Although in singles competition the two former World Champions would be expected to have the edge in the tag ranks, the Freebirds have worked together so often that they seem to know where the other is going to be as a matter of instinct. More of a power based brawl than a technical masterclass, the two teams lit up the early going in this tournament and it was clear to the audience that no matter what happened we were about to lose real contenders for the title.</p><p> </p><p> In a twist of irony, the finish came as a result of the Freebirds’ own attempt to pervert the course of justice. Taking the time to unhook the turnbuckle while Hayes was brawling with Bockwinkel in mid-ring, Gordy had been aware of the advantage when irish-whipping Rgidesinto the corner later in the bout. As expected the turnbuckle cover gave way, looking to drive Dusty’s head into the exposed steel, Gordy was caught with an elbow to the chest that allowed Dusty to do the driving! Gordy smashed head first into the turnbuckle and flew backwards into the middle of the ring out cold. Before Hayes could react, Dusty had hit him with an elbow to the head that felled him from the apron. Dusty dropped a Bionic Elbow on Gordy to pick up the pinfall and progress to the Semi-Finals!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: Dusty Rhodes & Nick Bockwinkel with a Bionic Elbow on Gordy at 15:46</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: B-</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/BobOrtonJr.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/BarryWindham.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/TerryTaylor.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/OleAnderson.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/DavidCrockett.jpg</span><p> </p><p> Ric Flair and the rest of the Horsemen are standing by with David Crockett:</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Flair: “Tonight, the world will see for itself what we already know – world domination starts here Jack! For all the Horsemen’s superiority, it still took a lot of effort to finally put their opponents away. LazerTron in particularly was hard to keep down and he utilised his superior speed to great effect – the only issue was that although he was able to jump quickly around the ring, his offence didn’t have much impact on Orton who brushed off his attacks and continued his own pounding. Eddie Gilbert looked to continue his personal winning ways in this match-up with a dogged and determined ‘over-enthusiasm’ that received three verbal admonishments from referee Earl Hebner. Despite bringing the fire though, the Memphis Mafia just couldn’t seem to put the Fabulous Ones away and when Steve Keirn escaped from Austin Idol’s sleeper hold and made his hot tag to Stan Lane, business picked up – slinging Idol into the ropes and following up with a sidewalk slam and a snap elbow. Idol though wasn’t about to be put down so quickly and battled back himself – the kick to the gut from Lane caught him off-guard and he had no idea that he’d made a blind tag to Steve Keirn at the same time – the Inverted DDT that drove his head into the canvas put the exclamation mark on the end of this bout. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: The Fabulous Ones with an Inverted DDT on Austin Idol at 20:49</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: C+</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <strong> Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger vs Johnny Ace</strong></p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/JushinLiger.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/JohnnyAce.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The crowd had scarcely recovered from the opening round of the Crockett Cup when they were treated to something unlike anything that had seen here in a long, long time… if ever! Truth be told Johnny Ace never had a chance here – he couldn’t get close enough to inflict damage on the newcomer and spent the majority of the bout looking around in confusion trying to spot the scarlet blur. The Barbarian is a much harder man to read in terms of motivation what we know for sure is that both men like to fight and this proved to be the case again in this clash. A stark contrast to what went before this was your basic slugfest that showcased both men’s savage and brutal sides. Once again, the All Americans had the physical advantage and once again they seemed to take great delight in overpowering their weaker opposition. The clash in styles didn’t really work in terms of creating an exciting tag team match-up but it was a still serviceable encounter with Ron Simmons carrying the majority of the workload for his team. And had he continued to do so, the result might’ve panned out differently… however, after taking a few stinging shots from Keirn, Simmons aggressively tagged out to Luger with a slap in the chest. A bemused Luger entered the ring and began arguing with Simmons while still trying to fend off the Fabulous Ones. JJ Dillon tried to restore order between his charges when Simmons snapped. Furiously re-entering the ring Simmons smashed Keirn with a running clothesline and began to furiously beatdown on him while Luger looked on shocked. The referee threatened Simmons with disqualification and when Luger tried to reason with him it seemed to be the final straw. Simmons snapped – flying at Luger with a shouldercharge that caught him off guard – the Fabulous Ones looked on in bafflement as the referee finally gave up and called for the bell while Simmons continued beating down on Luger!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: The Fabulous Ones by disqualification at 12.28</strong></p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/LexLuger.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/RonSimmons.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/JJDillon22.jpg</span><p> </p><p> The match might be over but the fighting certainly isn’t! The All Americans have been showing signs of having a strained relationship for a while but the way that Simmons snapped seemed to have taken most people off guard including JJ Dillon! Without Nick Bockwinkel , the odds of Dusty making it to the Final appeared to have dropped dramatically… only thing is nobody told Kendall! In what was the biggest match of his career to date the younger Windham brother was intent that he wasn’t going to be the weak link against his big brother’s buddies and came exploding out of the traps. His youthful exuberance played against him though and the Dirtiest Player in the Game, showed Kendall why it was his brother and not him that was a Horseman. Tagging in Orton, the big man took an almost perverse pleasure in beating on Windham while Rhodes had to look on. When Dusty did finally tag in, Orton wasn’t for hanging around – tagging in the Nature Boy in his place. This only enraged Rhodes more and this rage allowed him to make mistakes. Had he been on top of his mental game he might’ve stopped Kendall from blind tagging himself in while Flair was crying off in the corner… Rhodes has fought Flair enough to know what that means – the inexperienced Kendall rushed over though and was caught by a Flair low blow for his trouble. A quick tag out to Orton and with little in the way of fanfare – Kendall was hoisted into the air and slammed to the canvas in a superplex to let the World Champion and Orton pick up the victory without Rhodes ever getting the satisfaction of getting his hands on the Cowboy!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: Ric Flair & Bob Orton Jr. with a Superplex on Kendall Windham at 19:17.</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: B</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/BobOrtonJr.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/StanLane.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/SteveKeirn.jpg</span><p> </p><p> Another hastily put together video reminds us of the two finalists left in this year’s Crockett Cup Tournament and that the winners will be crowned the new United States Tag Team champions.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: C+</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Crockett Cup: Final & NWA United States Tag Team Title Match</strong></p><p> <strong> The Fabulous Ones vs Ric Flair & Bob Orton Jr.</strong></p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/StanLane.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/SteveKeirn.jpg</span> <strong>vs.</strong> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac17/Ritchardo_1979/JCP%20Diary%2088/BobOrtonJr.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Hot on the heels of a hard fought nearly 20 minute match, this was a real test of stamina for the NWA World Champion and his tag team partner. The Fabulous Ones were understandably fresher and they looked to take advantage and score a quick win. Those who’ve watched Ric Flair for years though know that this is much easier said than done! Stan Lane looked to learn from his mistakes in their clash on yesterday’s Showdown and took the match to Flair. Rather than brawling back, Flair regularly slowed proceedings with generous use of a thumb to the eye and rake on the back. These stalling tactics, emulated by Bob Orton, slowed the pace of the match down in the early going and eroded the Fabulous Ones’ advantage. </p><p> </p><p> Slowly but surely the tide shifted in favour of the Horsemen, to the point that Orton began showboating – stopping from his beating of Keirn to berate Magnum T.A. at ringside. Provoked to the point of fury, Magnum got up and headed over to the ring apron – staring up at Orton he began pointing up at him and arguing back which only provoked Orton further… It was to prove a massive mis-calculation – taking his eye off Keirn, he managed to crawl to make the tag to Stan Lane – seeing this coming, Flair entered the ring to try and cut him off… just a fraction too late… Stan Lane made the tag and exploded on the Nature Boy to a roar from the crowd… With a serious of left and rights, Flair was stunned and unable to stop the big clothesline that sent him over the top rope. Orton was still tangling with Magnum T.A. and reached over the top rope to make a grab at him… when Magnum nailed him with a solid right! The blow sent Orton reeling backwards, and he spun straight into the onrushing Lane who deftly scooped him up and smashed him with a Renegade Drop! Lane drops for the pinfall and from the outside, and outside Earl Hebner’s line of sight, Magnum T.A. lunges at and holds down Orton’s right leg! He’s unable to kick-out! 1… 2… Flair’s back in the ring and he leaps for Lane… Steve Keirn intercepts!!! 3!!! It’s all over!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: The Fabulous Ones with a Renegade Drop on Bob Orton Jr. at 21:44 to win the Crockett Cup and be crowned NEW United States Heavyweight Tag Team Champions!</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: B+</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Overall Show Grade: B+</span></strong></p><p><strong> PPV Buy Rate: 0.39</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Backstage Notes</strong><p> <em>- Bob Orton Jr was furious at losing to The Fabulous Ones. Of the three I was most impressed with the Von Erichs and All Americans posting their results – I might’ve thought twice about splitting them up had I got that result in first! Never mind I guess! Of course the poor chemistry between Bock and Rhodes pulled their match down a little too – so that’s some return from them! Pleased to see Kendall Windham pull a B alongside Dusty, Orton & Ric which shows just how on fire those guys are! Surprised at the match of the night going to the main event, not because I didn’t think they could do it but they’d posted the poorest QF and SF results so even accounting for having Flair & Orton in there with them, I wasn’t expecting the Fabs to pull it off when I was going through the end of show results (87 rating all in)!</p><p> </p><p> Delighted with the outcome of my first proper PPV and hope that even though everyone was curveballed with the Fabulous Ones taking the prize that it made enough sense to everyone what I did and why!</p><p> </p><p> Look out for another Wrestling Observer exclusive coming soon that will explain just what happened on that night in Richmond…</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="36731" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Prediction Scores (out of 12) – Contest will run to the July PPV (Great American Bash).
