The Road to Glory Challenge

Recommended Posts

<p>Two and a half years in making money for well over a year. I'm at about a million and a half dollars and I'm making over 300k a year. I haven't really been super pushing my UC but he's still a main eventer at 54 pop in the Tri-state. My real star is Electric Dreamer who I've gotten up to 86 popularity from 0 to start.</p><p> </p><p>

Right now I'm at 60 pop in the Tri-State and 3 in the spill over regions. Looking at the broadcasters I need 35 in five regions so I think I'm gonna start touring four other regions in the build toward getting a TV deal. Doing my weekly shows out there and my monthly in the tri-state. Although this will really tank how much money I'm making.</p><p> </p><p>

Even at regional I'm hitting mid 70s most shows and I just did an 80 for my season finale Red, White and Black & Blue in July of 2018.</p>

<p>So right now I'm evening out the south east by running all my weekly shows there but I'm only getting 2 points of pop a month. So it will be at least 10 months till its even with everything else. And then I'd have to run another 42 months of shows to get the four regions I need up to 45 to get a deal for a show so that 4 years and 4 months before I'd get a TV deal.</p><p> </p><p>

But if I run in just Tri-State I make about 300k a month. And I need 12.5 million to buy my own broadcaster and I can make that in 35 months (or basically 2 years and 11 months). So now I'm at an impass of what to do. Wait it out and get a bigger national broadcaster, or take the shorter time an buy my own tiny broadcaster.</p>

Year three is in the books, and a heck of a year it was.

As shown above, OLLIE's owner died midyear, and was succeeded by Joaquin Soler. I'd been intermittently taking punts on each job that came up, and genuinely wasn't expecting anything to come of it, but apparently bookers in Mexico are few and far between at the moment...

In any case, we headed to OLLIE and things took off. Tons of talent available, and we were in a position to get TV immediately. Of course, it wasn't all sunshine and roses, because I inherited that unholy hell of a locker room I showed before.

Manny proceeded to go on a spree of both hirings and firings. By the time the dust settled, the two worst influences had been sacked, and two more negatives had quit out of anger (Manny's relationship panel is kind of carnage right now). Maximo Energia got canned for showing up high. Arturo Ramirez managed to survive by being adopted by Oceano. We're up to 84% now, and that's with some people getting into fights and Manny and Tom Gilmore being mad at each other. Of course as the diplomat he is, Manuia's response has been to rib everyone (including an elaborate scheme on El Guerro Atomico which everyone except him thought was hilarious).

OLLIE's been really fun to book; I've got next to no experience of Mexico so it was a heck of a learning experience. Soler let me add a women's division right away, then proceeded to remove all the mainstream from the product so we've wound up becoming Perf >> Pop all of a sudden.

El Bandido is our marquee guy right now but the roster is loaded with talent. We have (but are not limited to) Luis Montero, Marcos Flores, Phoenix, Soul Taker, El Demonio, Superfly and Nicolas Lopez.

Bonus; women's wrestler of the year was Miyuki Miharu, a CV97 joshi worker who only worked for me all year, so that was a pretty cool result.

A huge chunk of our workers are on the power 500 too;52 wrestlers finished the year in OLLIE and were on the list. We peak at 51 with El Bandido.

Manny was #134.

-

On a personal level it's been a really really good year. Working more dates with more talented workers has done wonders for Manny's abilities, and he's even started to get the 'carried the match' note from the road agent on occasion. He's been allied with the Phoenix boys, resulting in a pretty formidable chemistry setup, as II has chemistry with Manny and I, whilst Manny has chemistry managing I.

The top rows have shot up like absolute crazy as a result, and the performance row isn't looking too shabby either.

BJ7SQTZ.png

So that's 13-14 points in every top row except brawling, about the same in the entertainment row, and 5+ in most of the performance stats.

(reputation took a dink for inflicting a small injury on Gilmore)

And finally, drumroll...

First year is done. It was not an amazing year, but certainly not dreadful.

Financially we're $2,763 in the red. Which means I've blown away 3 grand AT LEAST, because we were already making a (tiny) profit each month for the last 3 to 4 months.

Personally it has been a rather succesful year, with me winning the top title at the last show. I didn't mean for it to happen, I merely managed to forget to assign a winner in the fatal four way.

http://i.imgur.com/dhM8MYG.png

My stats are increasing rather nicely, and my decision of starting out as a (on paper) weak role as babyface was a good one as well, because I can now play both sides of the fence rather well.

My Die rolls:

The start of my RTG

So after getting TEW 16 today (been watching YouTube playthroughs of the game), I'm trying this out for myself because it seems fun and exciting honestly. Plus the challenge of never playing the game before myself (only ever played TEW 05) makes it even more interesting for me. I am playing with a modern day real life mod (thanks to Fleisch for that mod) and will be starting in June 2017. That all being said, here is the debut of David Arnold in Iowa Pro Wrestling.

http://i.imgur.com/8k5ztFm.png

This is kinda how a real life version of a rookie me in wrestling would be. Decent entertainment, kinda decent mat skills and chain wrestling, and high stamina. Did the Fog of War skills up that high for him for this purpose when I get into it.

Also, forgot to take a picture, but Face/Heel is 70%/30%. The gimmick parts are Cool=50, Cocky/Crazy/Legit/Comedy=25, Weird=50, Wholesome=100.

http://i.imgur.com/dLgOiCj.png

Iowa Pro Wrestling at it's finest. Think a mix of EVOLVE and ROH with slight changes. Should be interesting. Also should mention that Brian Quinn (of Impractical Jokers fame, part of the mod) is the owner and is working for free, which is awesome.

Anyway, I look forward to this and will post when year 1 (which I'm doing June to May because of the mod) is over.

<p>Year 1 is in the books</p><p> </p><p>

Iowa Pro Wrestling's first year is in the books and what a year it was. We managed to buy out NGW a couple of months ago, gaining their popularity in Europe, and shortly before that moved up to Small. We're ranked 34th out of 54 companies thanks to that buyout and we're even not in debt either. We've been running a weekly show for about 6 months now and actually have some pretty good shows going, getting mostly D's with our recent ones and bringing in over 400 people a show. We even apparently got on ROH's nerves because they created a hostile relationship with us (as well as about 15 other companies for whatever reason)</p><p> </p><p>

Playing with a real life mod has been interesting as well because I've seen the likes of Renee Young and Dean Ambrose divorce, Reby Sky and Matt Hardy divorce, and Bayley, Candice LeRae, and Taya Valkyrie (Johnny Mundo's new fiance for those confused) all end up pregnant within a few months of each other. </p><p> </p><p>

Now onto yours truly, David Arnold. Thanks to the weekly shows as well as the caliber of talent I brought in for super cheap (like Winter/Katie Lee Burchill working for $390 an appearance for me), I was kept kinda busy, especially once the weekly shows starting going. I did suffer a Radial Head Fracture which put me out for 23 days, but other than that, I've been going pretty well. I have an 11-12 W/L record with a D- average match rating (Highest=D/Lowest=E) and although I haven't won either of the companies two championships yet (IPW Heavyweight and Rising Star championships), I'm still looking pretty strong and have worked as a Main Eventer numerous times although I've yet to actually be in a main event match on the show so far. As for the stats:</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/5Jwg1jn.png</span></p><p> </p><p>

So pretty good improvement over a year I'd say. Working with a created gimmick of Anti-Hero (Wholesome) that's rated Very Good at the moment. Popularity is an E- in the Mid West (where the company is based out of) and F in a couple of regions in America, so he's starting to grow. Did have one issue though where my botch almost caused an injury, which caused the person to not be too happy with me, but other than that it's been pretty good. </p><p> </p><p>

As for the first year roll, I rolled a 21, so I got that +5 Mat Skill that will help out (already added before picture above). </p><p> </p><p>

I look forward to continuing with this and seeing if I can end up in the Hall of Immortals with this challenge.</p>

<p>Cody Lane enters 2026 at the precipice of greatness. Well, not really, but we're pretty solid. At cult, we've turned in our best financial month yet, losing only 2 grand in December and we're sitting comfortably at 1.7 M. </p><p> </p><p>

Both our TV show and events are shown on East Coast Today, but at our current growth we should be able to graduate to OnDem as soon as our current deals are up, and that will give us a small but global viewership which will skyrocket our popularity gains, as we're currently seen in just three regions when we're not trying to tour the mid south and new england to meet the popularity requirement for the new network.</p><p> </p><p>

We're sitting pretty at number 12 on the company rankings, but we're number 10 in influence. What's more, this past year saw Cody Lane hit 117 on the power 500, when his previous highest ranking was 357. Additionally, all of his top 7 matches were rated 91 or higher and took place this year, and he would have closed the year out with 12 successful defences of the main event belt had I not booked him in a tag team main event in December (he and his long time partner battled the number one contender, Sonny Wildside, for my WM equivalent, and he'll be dropping the belt at that belt in January to him).</p><p> </p><p>

All in all, this is the furthest I've ever made it in a RTG game. I'm not looking forward to the point that all my contracts come up and USPW try to steal my entire roster, but I'm also the owner now so I'm allowed to throw money at people unlike my SWF game!</p>

Its getting toward the end of 2019, I have 73 pop in the Tri-State area, I'm at almost 6 million dollars. I'm making a little over 500k a month. At this rate in 13 months I will have enough to start my own broadcasting company. It will be tiny but it will be national. So so november 2020 will be the beginning of the rise of AWE to a national juggernaught. AT regional I am already putting on consistently better shows that TCW who are the number 3 company in the US and the 5 company in the world.

<p>So I failed my first RTG before I even started...</p><p>

I ran one show a month and then my locker room got so bad I got to 20% morale, oh and apparently the best auto picked venue is not in my home region... I'm mid west and they kept putting south east... yeah was wondering why I was going up in wrong area... </p><p>

back to the drawing board</p>

That way when it gives you a auto venue, it puts you in your region. Have that myself on my RTG.</p>

<p>Decided to take a shot at this myself. Created Big Time Wrestling, an old school southern style promotion in the Southeast in the default CVerse data. After one year and five shows (had to limit the number due to finances), here is where I stand so far:</p><p> </p><p>

<a href="http://i.imgur.com/MmkR8Kp.png" rel="external nofollow">http://i.imgur.com/MmkR8Kp.png</a></p><p> </p><p>

No idea if this is good or not, but I'm still in it. Promotion's momentum is up to F but popularity is still F-. I have picked up some much cheaper talent than I was working with before so hopefully I can run more shows in the next year to bump that up some more.</p><p> </p><p>

End of year roll was a 50, so I created my real life cousin in the game as my younger brother.</p>

<p>Year 2 is in the books</p><p> </p><p>

So this is a few weeks later in the save then the exactly 2 year anniversary because for some reason I thought I started it at the end of June in game instead of the beginning. </p><p> </p><p>

Nevertheless, Iowa Pro Wrestling has skyrocketed. Once we started making money, it was a train going out of control. We've signed a fair amount of big names for an indy promotion, we're already having broadcasting deals, and we're already up to Regional. Our IPW Heavyweight champion right now is Ted DiBiase Jr. (see what I mean about big names for an indy?), our Rising Star champion is Shannon Moore, and our Duos champions are Mike Verna and Adam Ohriner aka the Big O. We've been doing C to C- shows three times a week, two 3 hour events a week and one 1 hour TV show as well. We've got Hulu Plus and Netflix (Europe) for our events and YouTube for our TV show. We're also averaging about 2500-3500 fans per show depending on where we go. </p><p> </p><p>

David Arnold aka yours truly has yet to claim a championship, but did end up in a tag team title match with his somewhat new partner Leva Bates (they had great chemistry when teaming and ended up in a title match randomly). His best match has been a C+ he's been able to get 6 times, 4 of those matches with Aaron Stevens aka Damien Sandow who's been killing it for IPW as well. He's 50-54 now as well(been making sure he's booked as often as possible to improve those stats). Here's the updated stats for him:</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/qOf3kp2.png</span></p><p> </p><p>

As for our second year roll:</p><p>

30. “You Can Dance If You Wanna” You have devoted your holiday season to training in the ring +5 to your Safety skill</p><p>

Two years in a row with a good roll, liking that. Can't wait to see what the end of year 3 brings.</p>

<p>Year 3 is in the books</p><p> </p><p>

Another year down for Iowa Pro Wrestling and its young booker/wrestler David Arnold.</p><p> </p><p>

IPW has risen through the ranks like crazy now. It's reached Cult status and is officially the 3rd best company in the world, only behind WWE and W-1 (yes, NJPW is 4th, right behind me). We're up over $8 million dollars now with 2 development companies (PWX that we made and SHINE that we bought out). Our prestige is A* and our momentum is B. We're running three weekly events now as part of a three way brand split and we're also running a TV show at the end of the week as well. Basically IPW is completely killing it. </p><p> </p><p>

David Arnold himself has done pretty well. He ended up as the IPW Television champion for a couple of weeks and is ranked #242 on the Power 500. His best match so far was a IPW Duos championship match where the champions, the Lucha Sisters aka Leva Bates and Mia Yim, retained over the American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards), Mega Muscles (Adam Ohriner & Mike Verna), and the Urban Gladiators (David Arnold & Mark Sherman). His skills are ridiculous now as well:</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://imgur.com/pL4Yc7c.png</span></p><p> </p><p>

I didn't include the last line with gimmicks and face/heel because IPW doesn't use gimmicks or face/heels, so it hasn't improved at all. </p><p> </p><p>

As for roll 3....</p><p>

7. “That Loving Feeling…” Your love life has something happen. Move along the scale from left to right, starting a new relationship with someone appropriate (according to their own preferences) on your roster. Dating->Engaged->Married->Separated->Dating->… (use your own discretion if you need to work out if they are the parent of any children you may have. IF you are separated you may choose to start dating someone else, or start over again with them)</p><p>

As for that roll....</p><p>

Welp, David Arnold is now dating Kairi Hojo. That'll be interesting. </p><p> </p><p>

I'll be back for Year 4</p>

I've been round the world picking up future stars; I have Duane Stone, Jack DeColt, Tom Gilmore and Noriyori Sanda on my main roster and the likes of Joss Thompson, Matravers, Brent Hill, Chris Rockwell in development.</p><p> </p><p>

I've started writing this promotion up as a dynasty - I'm hoping to get the first few chapters up soon.</p>

Year 4 down

The 4th year of Iowa Pro Wrestling is in the books and what a year it was. It's now the 2nd best company in the world, only behind WWE. We saved up enough money to start our own network, although it was all with tiny coverage that we're slowly boosting up. We're National size and honestly only about one or two areas in America away from International.

The world is down to 41 companies left and that's including one that started a couple of months ago. Lots of big names left companies and went elsewhere like The Miz going to Dragon Gate and Okada going to Wrestle 1. Jim Cornette also passed away like a month ago, it was April 2021 in the game.

I'm not going to post a picture of David's stats this time, but he's continued to improve. He's consistently a main eventer and was just in the IPW Heavyweight title match at the previous night's PPV, losing to the still champion El Generico. He's pulling off A performances, so it might be within this next year that he pulls off the main goal of this.

As for the year end random roll...

54. "As Real As It Gets" The World of MMA called you out and you delivered. Add +10 between Toughness and Menace. Add MMA to your character (Other Genre)

Well, at least I can increase his weak Menace. We'll see if I end up in a fight seeing as how I already have two MMA fighters in the company as well (Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor)

Here's to another year
