The Road to Glory Challenge

Recommended Posts

Giving RTG another crack with my favorite mod CV97. Pee Wee Germaine is my owner and it is the tried and true Honor Wrestling Federation. I'm going a bit headstrong and running 2 weekly shows with a monthly blowoff. I have to run two separate brands so I don't break my roster with this schedule. I have a men's brand and a women's brand based in the Great Lakes and I have my User Character wrestling on both shows just to grind out stats early. A little disappointing is I'm rated as a dark horse for success so I have to rely on good rolls to break my destiny to achieve greatness.

<p>Here goes another try after bankrupting a Canadian promotion after 2019.</p><p> </p><p>

Starting with the promotion, based in the Mid-South with Harry Chadwick as the owner ($60 ppa, set to personality usage and events only). Using the preset product "Old School Rasslin'" with some modifications on my highest levels to give leeway to changes down the line.</p><p> </p><p>

Here is the worker and his base stats after a slight randomized at the start of the game to his skills. Otherwise, set his talents as a booker/owner to default; as in my last game I kept getting dinged for poor gimmicks after spending my points on negotiations and motivating.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>WPL, January 1 2024</p><p> </p><p>

* Multi-millionaires! 1 year at 5 shows per month, drawing around 6,500 a show at year’s end even with the economy and industry at F-... Yeah, we coined it in during 2023, with nearly 3.4 million in the bank at year end, compared to just over 1 million on January 1st, averaging about 200k profit per month.</p><p> </p><p>

* In 2022 we scored our first ever A-grade match. In 2023 we scored 21, with 2 of those being 99 matches, oh so nearly hitting an A*... albeit not on a PPV and two levels below National. Some combination of my UC, Lucy Stone-McFly and Kid Fantastic (faces) versus the heel stable The Foremost (AmEl2, Claire Winters, Danielle Sweetheart and David Stone) racked them up. Rocky Weatherfield, Reilly Patton and even Needham & Liotta benefited from facing our own Magnificent Seven.</p><p> </p><p>

* We also scored 7 A-grade shows in the second half of the year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, we battered all the other sub-Cult companies. The Regional Battles throughout 2023 were highly consistent as we finished first everywhere. Mostly this was in the South West (QAW, IPW, AAA and CZCW in order for December) but anyone venturing into the Mid South didn’t stay long either.</p><p> </p><p>

* International stars Sean McFly and Angry Gilmore dropped in for a few shows mid-year as I assessed to what degree impeccable fundamentals could compensate for faded top-row skills and plunging stamina. Not enough, as it turned out, but Sean McFly put over Lucy in what turned out to be the final match of his career. Not <em>happily</em>, but he did it. Sean would return at year’s end as a road agent, and had already taken Jules Night under his wing as his protégé. I might have preferred he pick someone who doesn’t autopush as an Enhancement Talent after nearly 3 years in the company, but I guess that beggars can’t be choosers.</p><p> </p><p>

* WPL now has 4 titles, with a Trios crown introduced mid-year to keep underemployed mid/lowcard workers happy. All told, 60 shows across the year saw the following:</p><p> </p><p>

2 WPL title changes</p><p>

14 WPL All Action title changes</p><p>

8 WPL Tag title changes</p><p>

6 WPL Trios title changes, including the tournament final</p><p> </p><p>

32 title changes, so you have a better than 50% chance of seeing a title change hands at a WPL show. That’s entertainment, or something.</p><p> </p><p>

* WOTY, Champagne Lover; COTY, SWF; TOTY, Amazing Bumfholes; YWOTY, David Stone (following from his cousin last year), MICOTY, WLW (thanks to new TV deals in Europe, Australia and the Americas)</p><p> </p><p>

* AmEl2, leader of the Foremost, held the WPL title for much of the year after beating me for it in March. He dropped it to Stone-McFly in the season finale in December to give her the chance to headline. She seems to have a cap of B- on Psychology, as it went up to B for a week or so before dropping back down. Hopefully having her dad (and Nemesis) as road agents will help.</p><p> </p><p>

* The Foremost hit the season finale with the WPL, All Action and Tag titles in hand, but Sweetheart & Stone lost the tag titles to Rocky Weatherfield and Kid Fantastic in addition to AmEl2’s loss. Claire Winters retained the All Action title over me (one of the 99 matches) and is set to head up the lead stable for next year as I finally get around to pushing some of the under-utilised midcarders in our ranks. She hasn’t failed any drug tests lately, possibly because I haven’t given her any...</p><p> </p><p>

* Kid Fantastic was the breakout star of the year, or really the last few months. A steady D- in the Mid South for months on end, I was sure he was being held back by his Spot Monkey style. Then suddenly in October he started blossoming in popularity, rising from midcard to main event in just a couple of months and is now probably our #3 babyface</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://tew2016.com/images/images/jcskills2024.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

* My own user character seems to be hitting some caps as well – Psychology is locked at 89/90, Safety at 90/91 and Consistency at 87, all a touch lower than I’d like for true BITW potential, but my Selling has risen 5 points, at least. Athleticism and Stamina are both tapped at 65, so All Out matches start to tire me at around 13 minutes – feeble, really. Most worryingly, my entertainment skills have started to stagnate. Despite 10 minute promos every show, my Microphone skill rose from 84 to 90 over the year, before dropping to 87. My optimism of last year seems to have attracted a hearty dose of ‘pride goeth’ as I appear destined to be a B+ guy in terms of ability. Nothing to be ashamed of, I just wanted to be an A*. I can take some solace in gaining 53 points across the top row, a more than respectable gain. Ultimately, at 26 and with my likely peak some 6-8 years away, I do wonder how much further I can go in WPL – but then, there are only 5 better brawlers than me in the game, so perhaps I’m being pessimistic.</p><p> </p><p>

* For my year-end roll I got 46. Cold Turkey – my character does actually have a 10% drinking habit thanks to an earlier roll, so that’s now ticked off as reformed. I can’t say I ever noticed it affecting me, but I don’t have to worry about it getting worse, at least.</p><p> </p><p>

* Power 500: AmEl2 104, Me 106, David Stone 147, Kid Fantastic 153, Danielle Sweetheart 156, Claire Winters 168, Lucy Stone-McFly 175, Rocky Weatherfield 183 (and thus our 8 main eventers are our 8 best performers), Ariel Breaks 248, two-time tag champions Natalie Danzig & Clyde Cope 270 & 274 and then 19 more performers from 280-484</p>

Tennessee Wresting Fed

Hello All!

I've been struggling to do this challenge in TEW 16, but I finally managed to pull it off and not go bankrupt. Sure, the realism wasn't quite there, running two shows a week at local size for a huge loss... but... I made it to Cult, with C pop in all of the US, Canada, and even one region in Japan. But I digress. I am starting over, because I made a few mistakes, and I want to play with every game area active. So without further ado, allow me to introduce myself and my company:

12CZG

n0Q9j

ZClrf

ZJSkT

With that said, I'm going to embark on another adventure...

Edit: BTW, I play using a real-world mod by TheWho87.

I took the name and logo of the real-life Shimmer Women Athletes but made the product my own.</p><p> </p><p>

Going to probably do the unrealistic multiple shows a month for popularity. Wish me luck!</p>

Tom Bombadil

ThunderLance Wrestling

End of 2020 (Year 5) (Yep this is still going and still very slow)

ThunderLance Wrestling did rather well in 2020! We hit Regional and brought in some new blood. Some of them (Mr. Lucha, Boom Boom Jamaica) have done better than others (Kentucky Bill, Stevie Grayson), but show ratings are trending upwards, and we're even able to venture outside Great Lakes once in a while. One awkward challenge is that we made Fro Sure a figurehead, but shortly thereafter, the influx of new guys after we hit Regional knocked him down to an Upper Midcarder. Regional Battles are also a thing now- we're generally 3rd of 4, but improved to 2nd last time!

This was a better year for me than 2019. I was able to benefit from a feud with Mr. Lucha III. I slipped out of the main event after we hit Regional, but am still able to rival some of our main event match ratings. (and still took our MotY!) My In-Ring is rapidly catching up to the rest of my stats, which is a mixed blessing since Entertainment and Physical aren't gaining quickly any more. I've more or less stayed the same in Popularity- it dipped in the middle, but came back up in the end.

COMPANY STATS

World Champ: Teddy Powell (2)

ACPW Jr. Champ: Raphael

Main Eventers: Teddy Powell, Kentucky Bill, Mr. Lucha III, Boom-Boom Jamaica, Stevie Grayson

Best Show: September, C

Popularity: D- Great Lakes, F+ Mid West/Mid Atlantic/Tri State, F 4 others

Ranking: 23/36 (31st in finance)

2018: 17-7, Average D

2019: 21-3, Average D

2020: 15-9, Average D+

Goals for previous year:

-Build Charsima and In Ring

Ehh. I'm overall happy with my In Ring gains, but some more so than others. Charisma only gained 1 point...if I understand it correctly, I think I've peaked on that one.

-Become figurehead and get in another good title run

I'm not even a Main Eventer anymore! I did hold the ACPW Jr. Heavyweight Title for six months though.

-Stay healthy

Only the second time I could say that!

-Hit Regional

Done, in August. We're doing okay financially, too.

-Put on a C match myself and a D+ average

Thanks, Mr. Lucha!

Goals for next year:

-Eliminate production penalties

-Re-enter the Main Event

-Build Brawling and Flying

-Put on a B- match

-Consistently place #2 or better in Tri State

-Bring in good competitors for the ACPW Jr. Heavyweight Title

<p>Started up a new game. 10 shows and one month in. It looks like I've gotten a real nice long term save going. Apparently this challenge is a lot easier when the industry starts at B+ and rising <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Deciding whether to turn into a full blown diary or not.</p><p> </p><p>

Edit: Ran five more shows in February to put us on the edge of Regional Battles and a stones throw away to being considered Small. Only around $20k in the hole. The possibilities.</p>

Ok the first year of my Road To Glory is now in the books. My User Character has seen some growth but it appears my Chain Wrestling started at the ceiling. Also I sustained Elbow Tendonitis back in May so it has nerfed all of my match grades since that day. Still with that holding me back I put the belt on myself because I'm still getting the best match grades and performing better than the rest of my roster. I actually had my first champion be Madame Bat followed by Mick Muscles before moving the belt to myself.

Start of 1997

Start of 1998

HSjjt4A.png

Here is a look at my current Franchise Players list

RxKXmps.png

We were suppressed for about half the year on growth because of the mere existence of AMW and their outrageous production output. Them closing in the beginning of November has been a godsend to our show ratings. We are now going to hit Regional by February or March.

bDFGDFL.png

BHOTWG is pulling a Packman and swallowing up all the companies in Japan like they are power pellets. Big Battle Wrestling was bought out by them in July. Golden Canvas Grappling was purchased by them in October. In the middle of the year BHOTWG had purchased 5SSW and chose to disband them. This caused a major rift in women's wrestling and instead of letting a lot of those prospects rot away in Japan I've hired most of the workers that were available to me and used them for my Women's brand. I already went into this game running a Men's and Women's brand but it caused me to fire my announce team I was grooming for when I started my network. (Bob Johnson, Red Falcon and Miki Narita)

Miki Narita announced her retirement in July so I put her as the first Hall of Fame member and moved her to the announce desk. But having to take in half of Japan's Joshi workers out of sympathy it would have thrown my deficit completely out of wack keeping them. But I did bite the bullet until the end of October to get their collective experience up. As soon as we have room for a network I will rehire this team.

GcBlypt.png

Almost my entire roster made the top 500 so I'm not going to bother listing them all just the higher scores including my own.

Kit Hatoyama #234

Ikuko Temko #243

Richard Blood #264

Dog Fyte #306

Kevin Gaines #401

My end of the year roll was a 7 which is....

7. “That Loving Feeling…” Your love life has something happen. Move along the scale from left to right, starting a new relationship with someone appropriate (according to their own preferences) on your roster. Dating->Engaged->Married->Separated->Dating->… (use your own discretion if you need to work out if they are the parent of any children you may have. IF you are separated you may choose to start dating someone else, or start over again with them)

I was torn between both Kit Hatoyama and Keiko Fujinami but eventually went with Keiko because Kit is both still engaged to Mito Miwa and 8 years older than my user character.

<p>There's a small possibility you're just not wrestling anyone good enough to learn from and enhance the chain wrestling stat.</p><p> </p><p>

BHOTWG eating everyone is kind of an issue with 97 as it stands. Them doing it to 5SSW is just mean. Why do they hate women's wrestling? D:</p><p> </p><p>

Who is that Keiko render by? It looks a bunch like her usual render but I don't think I've ever seen it in the re-render thread.</p>

My owner for half seemed pretty content paying himself $1400 a month when we only had $1000 in the bank. Thank god that when we hit -$4000 he decided that he would start working for free and stop bleeding the company dry.
