Michaels aggressively tells McMahon, Lawler and Ross to "sit down and shut up, because the Champ has something to get off his chest." The four men (and one woman) climb into the ring and the Heartbreak Kid wastes no time in telling the crowd exactly what's on his mind.

He says that the KLiQ appears to be two men short tonight, with "Triple H" and Justin Credible stuck at home on doctors orders, both nursing a concussion following the unprovoked assault at the hands of that coward Scott Steiner. He tells Steiner that he made the biggest mistake of his life last week, when he took that metal bar of his to the skulls of their KLiQ brothers....and sooner rather than later, he's going to pay the price.....

"Steiner, listen to me and listen real close.....we are going to tear you apart, piece by piece....you were handed the biggest opportunity of your life. The chance to step into the ring with the Showstopper.....The Icon......The Main Event......THE WWF Champion......Shawn Michaels.....granted you were never going to win.....but that's beside the point.....you were given the chance but you took a simple contract for a WWF title match and you signed your death warrant with it....signed it with the blood that was pouring from Justin Credible's skull.....you would think by know, that people know better than to provoke us....know better than to p### us off....because when we're p####d off, people get hurt."

Nash takes the mic and tells Steiner to sleep with one eye open....and to tell your moron brother that if he thinks the beating he took last week was bad, then he's in for a rude awakening.....because for every blow that Scott inflicted on Hunter and Credible, the KLiQ are going to deliver that tenfold to Rick.....and he can thank his brother for it. Hall takes the mic and basically reiterates what his partner said, while Waltman says that Steiner is lucky that the Light Heavyweight Champion is already in competition tonight, or he'd be calling his ass out right now.

Seemingly pleased enough to have gotten their point across, the KLiQ toss their microphones down and head out of the ring and up the aisle. The whole contingent disappears to the back, with the exception of Hall, who has got into a war of words with a fan at ringside. Unfortunately that means he has his back turned.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Steiner_zpsttyjnnne.jpg

.......to this man jumping over the crowd rail behind him. He has his hair tied back and has the beginnings of a goatee on his face, but it's clearly Scott Steiner.....and if we didn't know it was Scott Steiner at first, it became crystal clear who it was when he produced that steel pipe again, which he slams into the ribs of Hall, before bringing it down violently on the back of the Bad Guys head three times.

Michaels, Nash and Waltman came rushing out from the back, but Steiner has already bailed back into the sea of fans. Nash tends to his partner and Waltman scans the crowd in an effort to spot Steiner.....Michaels on the other hand is incensed, marching down to the commentary table and grabbing Vince McMahon by his snazzy blazer, screaming in his face that he needs to do something about this, while McMahon asks what, he's only an announcer after all.

Rating: A*

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Rikishi_zpsdi6ijner.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Kokina_zpswuht0ozb.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bradshaw_zpsyeklbtgo.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Windham_zpsckvmqtgx.jpg

We air a quick commercial for King of the Ring while order is being restored in the arena and when we come back it's time for our first match of the evening. To say that the tag team division was heating up around here would be an understatement......with Kane and Mankind looking for gold, the Legion of Doom after a title shot, and the Hardys attempt to break out as real players, these two teams are both keen to pick up a victory that would place their name on that top contenders list too.

All four men were entered into the King of the Ring tournament, but not a one of them made it past the first round....probably a sign that they should stick to tag team action for now. This was a decent little match considering the people involved, lots of back and forth action but eventually the mass of Kokina proved too much for the Long Riders, as he finished off Bradshaw with the Banzai Drop....which has apparently been renamed the Samoan Splash

Winner(s): The Son's of Samoa

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Rikishi_zpsdi6ijner.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Kokina_zpswuht0ozb.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bradshaw_zpsyeklbtgo.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Windham_zpsckvmqtgx.jpg

The match is over, but the Texas Longriders have never been known as anything other than sore losers. Samoans might be known for their thick skulls, unfortunately a stiff cowbell shot to the back of the head will put anyone down.....which is exactly what happens here. With Rikishi and Kokina celebrating their victory, they are blindsided by bull rope wielding Windham and Bradshaw, who proceed to "whip the coconut milk out of them" as Lawler tastefully remarks on commentary. Surprisingly though, help is on its way.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Rocky_zpsmrfgvact.jpg

......in the form of this young man.....the commentators aren't exactly sure who he is. McMahon remarks that he's in tremendous shape, while Lawler points out that he's got hair like the top of a pineapple. The newcomer dives into the ring and both Long Riders turn their attention to him. The try to nail him with the ropes, but the youngster avoids both attempts, before sending the Texans to the outside with a number of beautifully executed dropkicks. Kokina and Rikishi get back to their feet, where they embrace their floppy haired saviour. McMahon says that while we don't know who this young man is, it seems like the Son's of Samoa do.

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/HBKKliq_zpsphlcapai.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/DieselKliq_zpsebe1dqdn.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/RazorKliq_zpsuigldmqk.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/SunnyKliq_zpsnlytrskn.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/WaltmanKliq_zpsplkqbets.jpg

We head to the back, where an obviously injured Scott Hall is being loaded into a waiting ambulance, while the remaining KLiQ members look on. Nash climbs into the back with the physicians who are attending to his partner, telling Michaels that he's going with him. In the midst of all this a road agent comes into shot, telling Sean Waltman that his match is next and he needs to get down to the ring. Michaels snaps at the agent, telling him that they are in the middle of something here, but the poor worker has a job to do and is insistent that Waltman needs to come. Shawn takes a step back, and then quick as a flash hits the road agent square in the jaw with a Superkick, then pounces on him with a barrage of blows, ending with a slap across the unconscious mans face, telling him to never interrupt KLiQ business.

Michaels tells Waltman to get down to the ring and finish off Jericho quickly, then get his ass back here where he's needed, because that psychopath and his Steel Pipe could be anywhere. The Light Heavyweight Champion heads off for his match, leaving Shawn and Sunny to watch as the ambulance drives off.....but as the camera pans out, they aren't the only ones watching.....because lurking in the shadows, pipe in hand and a smirk on his face, is Scott Steiner.

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jericho_zpswdgqcakv.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/WaltmanKliq_zpsplkqbets.jpg

King of the Ring Second Round Match

It's time for the start of the second round of King of the Ring matches....and it's an interesting one, because it's the former Light Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho, squaring off against the man that took that title away from him in the first place, Sean Waltman. Jericho has been desperate to get his hands on the KLiQ member ever since then, but recently he's had his hands full with Goldust, so it remains to be seen if he can fully focus on this match......Waltman on the other hand, definitely isn't focused on the match. He gets a good amount of offence in, but spends just as long stopping and scanning the crowd, presumably on the look out for a Scott Steiner assault.....the assault never comes, but the mental distraction is enough to ensure that Jericho is able to capitalise on Waltman's paranoia, hitting the Light Heavyweight Champion with a Lionsault for the three count.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Rating: C

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jericho_zpswdgqcakv.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Terri_zpsso1jlmwi.jpg

Waltman suffers defeat, but it seems to be of little concern to him about now, as he groggily rolls out of the ring and heads to the back, leaving Jericho in the ring, microphone in hand, calling out Goldust for the second week in a row. Someone does come out, but it's not the Bizarre One....it's his valet, Marlena, looking stunning as always in a short cleavage bursting gold dress. She says that Goldust is otherwise occupied right now, preparing for his King of the Ring qualifier against Bret Hart later on this evening....but once he's done with the Hitman Hart, he'll be sure to give Lionheart all the attention that he deserves.

Jericho isn't satisfied with this, telling Marlena that Goldust only seems to want a piece of him when he has his back turned.....well Jericho is sick of waiting, if Goldust won't come to him, then maybe he'll go to Goldust.

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Snow_zpssgob09uo.jpg

We head to the back, where Al Snow is sat once more in a makeshift psychiatrist's office, although we are obviously joining mid way through his session because he is half way through a conversation. He is talking about the revelation last week that Dr. Simon Coe, is not actually a doctor at all....and was in fact sent here by some unknown person, although what for exactly we don't know. We can't see Al's new Doctor as the focus is on him.....but by the tone of Al's conversation it's clear that it's not Simon Coe.....Snow wraps up his soliloquy with......

"So what you're trying to tell me, is that I should march down to that ring and demand that Coe.....Bill......DeMott......whatever his name is, gives me a full explanation?"

"..................................."

"Gotcha......then that's what I'll do.....thanks, you've been a big help."

Al hops off the makeshift "couch" and walks out of the room and on his way to the ring (we assume). The camera slowly scans across to where Snows current advisor sits.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Head_zpslhgxlwg8.jpg

.......and stays on a close up shot of the mannequin head as we go to commercial.

----------------------------------------

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Snow_zpssgob09uo.jpg

Back from commercial and we find Al Snow stood in the middle of the ring with a microphone in hand. He tells the crowd that he was betrayed last week, by his supposed friend and confidant, Dr. Simon Coe.....or should that be Mr. Bill DeMott....he says that he thinks Bill owes him an explanation, so Al suggests he comes to the ring.

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/DeMott_zpsdwqgxgv4.jpg

It takes a few minutes, but DeMott finally appears....although if you thought Sean Waltman's levels of paranoia were bad earlier, you ain't seen nothing yet.....because Billy Boy takes it up several notches. He walks down the aisle slowly, alternating between giggling uncontrollably and stopping dead to check that no one is sneaking up behind him. He finally makes it into the ring, where Snow is waiting for an explanation. He tells Bill that last week, he told him that someone had sent DeMott to him....."that He is coming.....who's He?"

"A collector" DeMott says, "a collector of lost and damaged souls like you.....like me (giggle).....the broken and the confused.....and once he has you, he never lets you go." Bill says that's why he masqueraded as a Doctor.....he was trying to help Al....to save him....because if Al wasn't damaged anymore, then "He" wouldn't want him......."he sent me here to prepare you, but I tried to help....I tried to help you.....and now he's going to make me pay."

Snow is clearly pleased to finally have some kind of explanation, regardless of how vague it is.....telling DeMott that if "He" wants to make Bill pay, then he's going to have to make them both pay, because Al always looks out for his friends.

DeMott, while he looks pleased, doesn't look too convinced....telling Al (between giggles) that he doesn't know "Him" like he does....but Snow waves off his concerns, telling Bill that they'll just have to prepare....and they can do that by getting their revenge on the KLiQ, before finishing by telling DeMott that.....

"Come on, I've got someone I want you to meet backstage.....she's been talking me through things, I think she could help us to mount a game plan."

Rating: C

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Mero_zpsmzyk9myf.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jarrett_zpsk69bwqey.jpg

King of the Ring Second Round Match

Second round action here again, this time it's Marc Mero going up against that cowardly Jeff Jarrett....although Jarrett would be quick to tell you that his behaviours were intelligent, not cowardly....either way, these two are facing off. Mero's form has been hit and miss since arriving in the WWF. He impressively ended the undefeated streak of Hunter Hearst Helmsley (or is that Triple H now?) but was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the Intercontinental Title, so tonight could be a big night for him.....except it wasn't. Because after a good match, with a lot of back and forth action, Jarrett was able to pick up the victory, it wasn't clean though, after rolling up Mero and holding the ropes for leverage while the official counted to three.

Winner: Jeff Jarrett

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jarrett_zpsk69bwqey.jpg

While Mero rolled out of the ring and headed to the back, clearly frustrated at the way he lost this match, Jarrett grabs a microphone. He tells the crowd....and more importantly, Bret Hart.....that this was proof that Jeff Jarrett was no coward.....he says he came down here, went hold for hold with one of the hottest young up and comers here in the WWF and he just beat him, fair and square in the middle of the ring (lying little toe-rag). He says that he will show everyone what Jeff Jarrett is made of at the King of the Ring tournament, when he wins the whole thing.....before he can say any more though he is interrupted....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Hawk_zpscidjex3f.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Animal_zpszm9whxk5.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Kane_zps4ckfviic.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Mankind_zps1wlg1gdh.jpg

.......by the Legion of Doom, as they come bursting out from the back....it's not for a chat with Jarrett though, they are currently going tooth and nail with Mankind and Kane, as all four men are brawling their way down the aisle.

Double J looks on in horror at the monstrosities that are heading towards him.....two face painted muscle heads and a pair of masked lunatics, all of whom seem to have little regard for anything or anyone that's in their way. Jarrett weighs up his options and decides that the most intelligent course of action, would be to get the hell out of dodge....and as soon as a gap appears, he hightails it quickly to the back and out of harms way.

Not that the L.o.D or Kane and Mankind care, they are too busy beating the holy hell out of each other to even notice Jarrett's presence. Mankind gets dropped throat first onto the guard rail by Animal, while Hawk incredibly is able to knock the big red monster off his feet, with a huge clothesline off the ring apron to the floor. Cornette's little contingent aren't push overs though.....far from it in fact, because Kane tosses both men around like rag dolls, while Mankind throws caution to the wind, using his own body to inflict damage on both Hawk and Animal, until eventually a mass of backstage workers arrive to keep these two teams separated.

Cornette convinced his men to head to the back, satisfied that their lust for destruction has been quenched, while the L.o.D remain in the ring. Hawk looks over to his left and spots the microphone that Jarrett dropped during his hasty escape....and apparently has a few choice words for Kane and Mankind.....

"YOU KNOW.....JIM CORNETTE LIKES TO COME OUT HERE AND TALK ABOUT HIS BIG SCARY MONSTERS......WELL THEY DON'T LOOK SO SCARY TO US......AND AS FOR THEM BEING MONSTERS......DON'T MAKE US LAUGH.....BECAUSE WHEN KANE AND MANKIND TAKE OFF THEIR PRETTY MASKS AT NIGHT, AND CORNETTE HAS TUCKED THEM IN TIGHT AND READ THEM THEIR NIGHTTIME STORY......IT'S NOT MONSTERS UNDER THEIR BEDS THAT THEY GET LITTLE JIMMY TO CHECK FOR.....IT'S THE LEGION OF DOOM.....BECAUSE WE SNACK ON DANGER, DINE ON DEATH.....AND WE'RE GONNA CHEW YOU UP AND SPIT YOU OUT.......UHHHHHH, WHAT A RUSH!!!"

Rating: A

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Ahmed_zpsnxyvo3jj.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/FaarooqNoD_zpsqa9rgpd7.jpg

King of the Ring Second Round Match

It's time for a continuation of the never ending Ahmed Johnson/Faarooq feud. The Bulldog laughs and the two trade some light hearted banter about which of them will win the King of the Ring, with the Bulldog reminding Bret of his Summerslam 92 defeat, before Hendrix asks about Brian Pillman. Bret says he doesn't know where Brian is, he's been calling him all week, but Pillman isn't answering, it's as if he's dropped off the face of the earth. Bret says he doesn't know if it was Austin's comments, or the words that Piper had for him last week, but it's not like Brian to let things get to him......he's always been more about the action than the brooding

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bret%20foundation_zpsfcltfqfj.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Goldust_zps20awxhyl.jpg

King of the Ring Second Round Match

It's main event time, as the Hitman faces off against the Bizarre One. Bret has done everything there is to do here in the WWF, even winning the King of the Ring Tournament.....but Goldust is arguable one of the hottest acts around right now, and with his Intercontinental Championship run only ending due to injury, there's no telling what highs he could have achieved. Strangely though (or not, this is Goldust after all) the Bizarre One has not opted to jump straight back into the race for the title he never lost, instead choosing to turn his attention to young Lionheart, Chris Jericho.

Bret on the other hand has been bitterly embroiled in a feud with the mighty KLiQ, although recently he's had Steve Austin snapping at his heels, looking to prove who the better wrestler really is. Fortunately neither man lets their outside issues cloud their judgement in this (what turned out to be a very good) match.....at least Bret didn't anyway.....the same can't be said for Goldust when.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jericho_zpswdgqcakv.jpg

.....the object of his recent desires makes his way down the aisle. Waltman and Sunny remain on the outside, presumably on look out duty, while HBK gets in the ring. He tells Bret that he knows that he and the Steiner Brothers are pally....so Michaels is going to give him one chance and one chance only, to tell him exactly where Scott Steiner has been hiding all night. Bret says that he has no idea.....and even if he did, Shawn would be the last person that he tells. Michaels says "the hard way it is then" and tosses the microphone on the mat.....which is exactly when Sunny screams......

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Steiner_zpsttyjnnne.jpg

......because (as Michaels finds out when he turns around) Scott Steiner has come out of the crowd again and is currently in the process of destroying Sean Waltman's ankle with that trusty steel pipe. HBK, thinks about heading to the outside, but changes his mind when he sees not only the glint of light reflecting off the steel.....but the glint of madness in Scott Steiners eyes, who is clearly not a man to be messed with right now. Finished with Waltman Steiner charges the ring, but The WWF Champion thinks better of hanging around and bolts to the floor and halfway up the aisle way, leaving Steiner stood wielding his weapon in the middle of the ring, while screaming at Shawn as the show fades to black.....

"ONE BY ONE MICHAELS.....I'M TAKING EVERY LAST ONE OF YOUR LITTLE BITCHES OUT UNTIL IT'S JUST YOU AND ME.....THEN I'M GOING TO EAT YOU UP BOY."

Rating: B+

Final Rating: B+

We had another strong show this week, with the only real let down being the match between Chris Jericho and Sean Waltman....I had visions of these two working a programme following the King of the Ring, but after tonight I'm not so sure, because their styles clash terribly. It's a real shame because I had high hopes for these two to potentially battle over the Light Heavyweight Title following their good performance in the triple threat with Scorpio.....just goes to show how important and under appreciated Scorpio is to this division.

Vince's little pet project made his on screen debut tonight. The kid has a world of potential....and he certainly has the pedigree, his dad was former WWWF Tag Team Champion, Rocky Johnson and his grandfather is the High Chief, Peter Maivia.....so the talent should be there....I just find him to be bland, bland, bland......the day of the smiling good guy, kissing baby's and pandering to the fans is over but Vince can't let it go....he's been desperately looking for a Hulk Hogan replacement since 93.....it didn't work with Luger, it didn't work with Nash.....it's not gonna work with this kid.....but Vince is the boss, so happy, smiling baby face it is.......although Jerry Lawler either sees something I don't, or is trying to keep on McMahons good side because he knows his days as Raw commentator are numbered, because he's taken the kid under his wing as a protege of sorts.....hell, maybe he can teach him how to show a bit of personality.

The "other" guys held the annual Bash at the Beach Pay Per View over the weekend......the highlights (or should that be lowlights) were Flair defending the Big Gold Belt over Kevin Sullivan......Eddie Guerrero of all people beating the Giant (way to utilise the big guy Eric....Vince practically p####d his pants laughing when he heard that, he's always said the Bischoff had no idea how to properly book a Giant....turns out he might be right)....Dean Malenko successfully defended the United States Title against one half of Public Enemy, Johnny Grunge.....Duke Droese was in action as he tried to capture the Television Title from the One Man Gang....he failed, Gang squashed him....and the Blue Bloods captured the Tag Titles from Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck...a nice bonus for the veteran Bobby Eaton who inked an extension with them this week.....again, no Sting, Hogan, Luger, Vader or Warrior in action....they may as well turn the lot of them heel and have them invade the next Pay Per View, demanding TV time......call them the nWo or something.....the "never Wrestle onscreen" team.....quite why they are still beating us in the ratings is beyond me.

Preview for Monday Night Raw, Week 3, June 1996

The Steiner Brothers vs The KLiQ (Shawn Michaels & Kevin Nash)

Comments:

King of the Ring Second Round Match

Roddy Piper vs. Billy Gunn

Comments:

King of the Ring Second Round Match

Tatanka vs. Psycho Sid

Comments:

King of the Ring Second Round Match

Savio Vega vs. Steve Austin

Comments:

King of the Ring Second Round Match

British Bulldog vs. Kama

Comments:

Rey Mysterio vs. Scorpio

Comments:

On a side note, I have no idea why Jeff Hardys picture is Farrooq and Ron Harris picture is Jeff Hardy.....the links are fine, checked them three times.....apparently Photobucket is just being a douche today.

The only way I know to do this is to add a player in the editor, make any changes to WCW you want and then leave the game so that it is back to just you controlling WWF.

Well that's annoying....although I may well do it, because the one hour Nitro is bugging me.....while I'm there, Bash at the Beach 96 is due in week 1 of July.....obviously this event had huge historical ramifications for WCW.....but not so much here i'm guessing since Hogan, Sting etc barely make it to Pay Per View.....soooooooo, with that being said, if anyone fancies Booking The Bash while I change Nitro to two hours then feel free to speak up.....book it however you want, do whatever you want.....it can't be any stranger than what they have been booking anyway. If there's more than one volunteer I may even run the King of the Ring as a prediction contest.

Michaels gets on the microphone, telling the crowd that he doesn't know if they've noticed, but there appears to be a few people missing tonight. He says that Triple H and Justin Credible are still suffering from concussion.....Scott Hall is nursing some bruised ribs.....and Sean Waltman is lucky to still be walking after the brutal assault last week, as it is he is bed bound for at least the next seven days while his ankle heals. He says enough is enough and tonight, Big Sexy and the Champ are going to put an end to it.....AND put an end to Scott Steiner once and for all.....because if he thinks that he's accomplished something, just because the KLiQ got a few boo boo's......well then he's in for a severe wake up call....

"See what you're looking at here....Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash....this is where the KLiQ originated....this man has had my back since the day he walked through the door here in the WWF.....Scott and Rick might be brothers....but me and Kev, we're closer than brothers....because you can't choose your family....but you can sure as hell choose your friends and I chose very, very wisely."

Shawn says that every success he's had has been with Big Sexy by his side....and tonight will be no different....no more hiding, no more sneaking out of the crowd....no more weapons.....if Scott Steiner has got any guts, he'll crawl out from whatever rock he's hiding under, wake up his moronic brother, wipe the drool of his chin....."and the two of them will take on the two of us tonight.....and for Justin Credible, for Triple H, for Scott Hall and Sean Waltman.....We. Piper took Billy on an old school tour of heel tactics.....and obviously the crowd loves it. Gunn is able to mount a comeback and take control of the contest, but becomes too overconfident and getting caught up in Pipers patented Sleeper Hold. Billy struggles and struggles but there no escape as the official checks the arm, which drops once......twice...........but before it can fall for a third and final time, Mr. Perfect hits the ring, nailing Roddy with a low blow to the bagpipes, drawing the disqualification from the referee.

Winner: Rowdy Roddy Piper (via disqualification)

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Piper_zpsanhrzlrb.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Mr%20Perfect_zpssbms1vgf.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Billy_zpswa5o3qyv.jpg

Roddy Piper is your winner, but he certainly doesn't look like a winner here. Perfect continues to put the boots to the Hot Rod, while Billy Gunn attempts to rouse himself from the effects of Pipers sleeper hold, finally managing to pull himself back to his feet. He joins the beat down and the two men punish Roddy with a barrage of stomps and kicks, punctuated with Billy Gunns Rocker Dropper, the Famouser.

Not content with that however, Perfect rolls to the outside and picks up a steel chair, sliding it in to Gunn. They climb into the ring and Michaels hands the WWF Title to Sunny, who drapes it over her shoulder. Shawn has got that cocky swagger back and does a little strut around the ring before walking up to Monsoon. He asks if he heard that correctly? Steiner isn't cleared to compete, Gorilla says yes, reiterating that the Doctors will not clear Steiner. He has bruised ribs, 15 staples in his head and a probably concussion.....legally, we can not allow him to compete. Michaels and Sunny burst out laughing, saying that the Champ has the night off after all.....Monsoon isn't happy about it, but reluctantly agrees.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Steiner_zpsttyjnnne.jpg

......its Scott Steiner.....he may not be cleared to wrestle, but he's obviously cleared to talk, because he's here with a microphone. He struggles into the ring, wincing as he bends between the ropes. Steiner tells Gorilla, that respectfully, nothing in this world is going to stop me from tearing Shawn Michaels to pieces at the King of the Ring.....Monsoon disagrees....saying that the Doctors and legal department are going to do exactly that. He says that they can't risk further injury to Steiner and there's no way that they will sign off on a match that would leave the WWF liable, should anything further happen to Steiner.

Michaels tells him that "you heard the Monkey Man.....so hit the bricks.....before my foot hits your chin again". Steiner says that he's taking that title off HBK one way or another.....and he doesn't care about law suits or contracts or doctors orders......he tells Gorilla to book the match.....the advertised match, Scott Steiner vs Shawn Michaels, for the WWF Title.....and if he's that worried about Law Suits.....he can make it an unsanctioned match....then the lawyers and the Doctors can wash their hands of the whole thing.

Gorilla says that Unsanctioned means anything goes.....no rules......no count outs.....no disqualifications....Steiner knows and doesn't care.....Michaels says that's fine by him, because Steiner can barely walk......and in a match with no rules, I'll make sure he doesn't walk again......it takes some convincing, but Monsoon reluctantly agrees.....on the condition that they both leave the arena now and have no further contact with each other until the bell rings on Sunday.

Rating: A*

Hakushi defeated Barry Horowitz C-

The Nation of Donination (Nelson & Bobby Knight) defeated local talents Vito LoGrasso and Johnny Hotbody C-

Tatanka bested Bob Backlund C+

Final Rating: B-

OOC: Ok.....so we wound up with a rarely written episode of Superstars.....the reason for that is because the Scott Steiner storyline and title shot was only supposed to be a throwaway defence for Michaels while I focused my attention on the King of the Ring......but then two things happened....first thing was that Steiner performed really well in practically every segment....out performing all the KLiQ members quite frequently....and the second thing was that I started to enjoy where it was going, and realistically would have liked an extra week to get there.....hence Superstars. Anyway, the King of the Ring preview should be up sometime today.

It's not often that your boss calls you into his office BEFORE a pay per view to congratulate you....but that's exactly what happened today.....

"It's about f#####g time, we'll make a booker of you yet Kid"

.......well I say "congratulate".....but considering the only time I get called in here usually is because one of the kliq has got a problem that they want resolving, I'll take it.

What had Vince McMahon in such a chipper mood I hear you ask? That will be the fact that we finally.....finally beat Nitro in the ratings. Oh not by a huge amount.....but however you count it 15.04 is a bigger number than 14.96, so I'll take that as a victory. Obviously Shawn and his crew were in the meeting (although I'm not sure why) and were quick to point to themselves as the reason for this small victory.....funnily enough they disagreed when I pointed out that this had all come about on the back of some outstanding performances from Scott Steiner.....what a surprise. Regardless I made sure to take Scotty to one side and let him know that I for one was very impressed with his performance as of late.....because no one else was going to tell him.

In all honesty, WCW don't help themselves, we have a longer show which hopefully keeps the audience tuned into us.....that and the fact that they insist on promoting main events that pale in comparison to what they COULD be doing.....the main event of Nitro this week for example featured Bam Bam Bigelow beating Randy Savage by DQ......and the latest rumour from down there is that they are getting ready to put together a feud between Hulk Hogan........and Abdullah the Butcher of all people.....sure, the Butcher ticks all Hogans boxes for an ideal opponent.....he's fat and scary looking, but come on.....Abdullah the Butcher? In 1996? Rock on Bischoff, you keep doing what you're doing, it makes my job easier.

The only other minor bit of news is that Steve Austin came to me and politely asked for a 10 grand pay rise....honestly, he deserves it....and more......so I gave him $7000......McMahon must be rubbing off on me......Steve was more than happy though.....now he's just got to show he's worth it.....and the King of the Ring is the perfect place.

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Quarters_zpsbhzcgmkn.jpg

Preview for WWF King of the Ring, Week 3, June 1996

WWF Championship; Unsanctioned, Anything Goes Match

Shawn Michaels © vs. Scott Steiner

Comments:

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Jarrett

Comments:

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

Bret Hart vs. Faarooq

Comments:

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

The British Bulldog vs. Steve Austin

Comments:

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Psycho Sid

Comments:

King of the Ring Semi Final Match

Jericho or Jarrett vs. Hart or Faarooq

Comments:

King of the Ring Semi Final Match

Bulldog or Austin vs. Piper or Sid

Comments:

King of the Ring Final Match

Jericho/Jarrett/Hart or Faarooq vs. Bulldog/Austin/Piper or Sid

Comments:

The Hardy Boys vs. The Nation of Domination (Nelson and Bobby Knight)

Comments:

WWF Championship; Unsanctioned, Anything Goes Match

Shawn Michaels © vs. Scott Steiner

Comments: You've done a great job in this buildup and have really made something that would've been great to watch on TV. Can't wait to see where this goes from here.

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Psycho Sid

Comments: I'm thinking this ends by DQ from Sid just going insane on Roddy, leading to a bye for Austin since Piper will end up in no shape to continue.

King of the Ring Semi Final Match

Jericho or Jarrett vs. Hart or Faarooq

Comments: Got to play with that growing feud between Jeff and Bret a bit, but Jeff isn't coming out of it the winner.

King of the Ring Semi Final Match

Bulldog or Austin vs. Piper or Sid

Comments: Like I said, I think this isn't going to even happen and Austin gets a bye.

King of the Ring Final Match

Jericho/Jarrett/Hart or Faarooq vs. Bulldog/Austin/Piper or Sid

Comments: I'm expecting Pillman to return and cost one of these two the match. Either resulting feud would make sense, and either would be pretty damn fun to see played out.

The Hardy Boys vs. The Nation of Domination (Nelson and Bobby Knight)

Comments: Nation needs some wins on the big stage, but I wouldn't blame you for giving the Hardys a rub through victory here.

They talk about the prestige involved in winning tonight's tournament.....as well as the little added incentive of a guaranteed World Title shot, next month at In Your House.....where Lawler informs us that the winner will be facing Shawn Michaels, because there is no way that Scott Steiner is walking out of here tonight with that WWF Title.....in fact, Steiner can hardly walk at all....and when its unsanctioned, the Heartbreak Kid can do whatever he has to, to retain his belt.

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bret%20foundation_zpsfcltfqfj.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/FaarooqNoD_zpsqa9rgpd7.jpg

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

The opening bout of the evening features a former winner of the King of the Ring, taking the crown back in 1993, that being Bret "The Hitman" Hart.....facing off against a man who's looking to become not only the King of a Nation, but the King of the entire wrestling world, Faarooq. As usual the leader of the Nation isn't alone, although tonight he only has Kama and Scorpio accompanying him, with the Knights presumably staying in the back to prepare for their match up with the Hardy Boys later this evening.

The match gets underway and it's clear from the start that this is going to be a battle of power vs finesse. The Hitman starts early with a series of head locks and armbars, with Faarooq powering out every time. Bret comes off the ropes and hits his opponent with a shoulder barge, but he doesn't shift Faarooq and its Hart that winds up on the mat. Not being one to make the same mistake twice, Bret fakes another shoulder block attempt but as Faarooq plants his feet Hart spins behind him, catching him with a surprise roll up for a very very near fall.

The match progresses much the same way, with Bret doing his best to out think his stronger opponent, finally going on a flurry of offence that comes to a screeching halt after Faarooq catches Hart coming off the middle rope in a bear hug, which he transitions into a big spinebuster. The leader of the Nation takes control of the match and if Faarooq himself wasn't a big enough test for the Hitman, he has to deal with Kama and Scorpio at ringside too....because every time Faarooq tosses Hart to the outside and draws the attention of the official (which is frequently) the other Nation of Domination members descend on Hart like the thugs that they are.

Bret finally received a respite after Faarooq is unable to contain the referees attention and he turns just in time to see Kama about to slam Hart into the ring steps. Kama lets go of Bret the second he spots the official, pleading his innocence....but it's too late and the two Nation members are quickly evicted from the ringside area amidst threats of disqualification for their leader. With the playing field levelled, the Hitman catches Faarooq with a quick schoolboy while his opponent was arguing with the referee about his decision. Faarooq kicks out and the two men scramble back to their feet, with Faarooq swinging a wild fist at Hart....The Hitman ducks....but gets levelled immediately after when Faarooq hits him with a standing lariat.

Hart is able to claw his way back into the match after wriggling out of a Dominator attempt and reversing it in to a Russian leg sweep. Faarooq runs at Hart, but the Hitman is ready with the reversal again, this time managing to pick the man up, dropping him over his knee with a back breaker. Bret hits that patented middle rope elbow drop and then goes to apply the Sharpshooter, but Faarooq kicks him off. Hart attempts an Irish Whip but it gets reversed and Faarooq hits him with a side slam on the rebound, before surprisingly attempting a Sharpshooter of his own....what's not surprising however, is the fact that Bret knows a thousand ways to counter the Sharpshooter....and he reaches up, pulling Faarooq down into a small package.....and THIS time the surprise pin attempt finally works, as the ref counts three

Winner: Bret Hart

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Hendrix_zpsw5xcdjjf.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jarrett_zpsk69bwqey.jpg

We head straight to the back where Dok Hendrix is standing by with Double J, Jeff Jarrett. Dok says that a lot of people have been questioning Jeff's character as of late.....as well as his back bone....or apparent lack there of. Jarrett tells Dok to shut up, before he finds out the same thing that Chris Jericho found out on Raw....that Jeff Jarrett is not a man to be messed with. Hendrix asks if he means when he snuck up behind Jericho like a coward and sneak attacked him, but Jarrett says that he doesn't sneak anywhere...he faces everyone face to face like a man....it's not his fault if his lightning quick reflexes were too fast for Jericho to see coming...."I can't help my god given natural abilities Dok....but I will do this....Chris Jericho, I'll slow my offence down just enough tonight to give you a fighting chance....but for all my fans out there, don't worry ha-ha, because at the end of the day, good old Double J will still get his hand raised....and then Bret Hart, I'll be coming for you....and I'll finally shut your mouth (he lifts his guitar up and rests it on his shoulder) and show you and everybody else, exactly how much character Jeff Jarrett has.

Rating: B-

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jericho_zpswdgqcakv.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jarrett_zpsk69bwqey.jpg

King of the Ring Quarter Final Match

It's time for Double J vs Single J, as Jeff Jarrett goes one on one with Chris Jericho. Jarrett is determined to disprove Bret Harts accusations that he has a yellow streak down his back....although his actions as of late haven't done much to dispel that allegation.....Jericho on the other hand has done nothing but impress during his brief tenure here in the WWF....including his Light Heavyweight Championship victory....a title which he is determined to regain....although he currently has his hands full with a certain gold faced bizarre one.

As far as matches go you have somewhat of a conflict of styles here, with Jarrett adopting a slower pace, while Jericho attempts to speed things up. Jarrett gets whipped of the ropes and Jericho leapfrogs him twice before catching him with a deep arm drag, immediately followed by two dropkicks and a running clothesline that sends Jarrett over the top rope down to the floor. Jarrett takes until a count of nine to re-enter the ring, "deliberately slowing the pace down" the King informs us. He says that he knows Jeff Jarrett very, very well, in fact the two used to team down in Memphis, before saying that Jeff Jarrett is a thinking man's wrestler, he's always thinking two steps ahead.

Jarrett proves the Kings point a few minutes later, because after he gets deposited to the floor again, he plays possum to sucker Jericho in....and as Lionheart propels himself over the top rope, Double J sidesteps his opponent and Jericho crashes hard on the safety mats, clutching his knee in pain. Seeing his opportunity Jarrett goes straight to work on the injured joint, which the King says shows his intelligence....because not only does it set up for the figure four leg lock later in the match, but it also neutralises Jericho's aerial offence. Jarrett takes his time dismantling the youngster, making sure to take the time to let the braying crowd know that he "ain't no chicken".....even taking the time to roll to the outside to snatch a sign reading 'Jarrett is a coward' from one particularly rambunctious fan, tearing it in half and throwing it back at him.

Back inside the ring, Jericho tries numerous times to make a comeback.....but each time either Jarrett cuts him off, or his knee gives out on him. Eventually Jarrett even manages to lock in the Figure Four but Jericho is too close to the ropes and is finally able to force a break. Jarrett does his Flair-esq strut, before tapping his head and indicating that he's going to try for it again, but Jericho catches him in a small package for a near fall. Jeff picks Jericho up and tries to whip him into the corner, but Lionheart is able to reverse it and it's Jarrett that hits the turnbuckle....followed by Jericho hitting him as he comes flying in with a running (or rather limping) corner clothesline.

Jericho mounts his comeback....and mounts Jarrett in the corner, delivering the ten punches of doom. He's still carrying a noticeable limp, but he becomes more mobile with each passing minute, to the point where he's even able to hit a springboard splash from the corner to Jarrett on the floor, after Jarrett nails to the outside to escape him. Unfortunately however, it's being on the outside that costs him the match.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Terri_zpsso1jlmwi.jpg

.......because this beautiful young lady comes sauntering down the aisle.....not to get involved in the contest mind you, she was merely here to act as a distraction.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Goldust_zps20awxhyl.jpg

......so that the official didn't see this man running down the aisle a few seconds later, blindsiding Jericho from behind, before hitting him with the Curtain Call out on the floor that bounces his head off the concrete. Jarrett rolls Jericho back into the ring and slaps on the Figure Four but with Lionheart already out cold, the referee has to count his shoulders to the mat and Jarrett has booked himself a place in the Semi-Finals against Bret Hart.

Winner: Jeff Jarrett

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Goldust_zps20awxhyl.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Jericho_zpswdgqcakv.jpg

Jarrett rolls out of the ring and heads to the back to prepare for his upcoming match with the Hitman, leaving a prone Chris Jericho at the mercy of Goldust. This isn't the first time that these two men have tangled.....in fact it was Sid getting himself disqualified against Piper back in March, that lead to Piper being able to insert the stipulation into his Wrestlemania match with Steve Austin, resulting in the (then) Ringmaster being forced to sever ties with the Million Dollar Corporation.

DiBiase hadn't forgotten that and still holds a grudge against the Hot Rod for costing him his Crown Jewel, Piper on the other hand knows that a victory here would book him a possible rematch with Austin (should he be able to get past the British Bulldog) and as he stated a few weeks ago on Raw, with Pillman failing to get the job done, he's taking it upon himself to do what The Loose Cannon couldn't.

The body of this match is remarkably similar to their last one. Piper using dirty tactics against his larger opponent (much to the delight of the crowd) in the opening moments of the bout, only to be eventually overpowered by the strength of big Sid, who then proceeds to brutalise the veteran. Piper didn't get to where he is today however by going down without a fight however....and fight he does, much to the annoyance of Sid, who becomes increasingly more and more frustrated at being unable to put the man away. Sid eventually signals that enough is enough and sets up the Hot Rod for the Powerbomb. He hoists the Rowdy One up.....but at the very hight of the move, where Piper is basically sitting on the big mans shoulders, Hot Rod takes two fingers.....and pokes them straight into both of Sids eyes....this causes Sid to stumble, letting go of Piper, who basically delivers a clumsy Seated Senton from the shoulders, landing on top of his opponent, knocking the wind out of him.....and picking up a very surprising three count out of nowhere while sat on the Big Man's chest.

Winner: Rowdy Roddy Piper

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Ted_zpsvwgjvizc.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Sid_zps1pohqtnu.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Piper_zpsanhrzlrb.jpg

DiBiase is furious at the loss and is straight into the ring the second the bell rings. He kicks Piper in the back of the head, before applying a move he hasn't had the need to use for quite some time, the Million Dollar Dream. Piper struggles and fights but it's no use because Deebs has it locked in tight. Hot Rod fades and DiBiase only releases the hold when Sid has gotten back to his feet, tossing Piper towards the Psycho one, telling him to ".....finish him, take him out...."

Sid has lost it, that surprise loss has stripped him of what little sanity he had left. He grabs Piper by the throat and slams him to the mat with a huge chokeslam.....but that's not good enough.......and with a glint of madness in his eyes he proceeds to pick Roddy up, delivering a brutal Powerbomb......not once, not twice....but three times.....leaving Piper destroyed and unconscious in the middle of the ring before he and DiBiase finally head to the back, while the commentators question how the hell Piper will be able to compete later this evening.

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bulldog%20Foundation_zpssd4apj29.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Ringmaster_zpsgjinxsrb.jpg

King of the Ring Quarter-Final Match

The fourth quarter-final match of the evening features two men who had great chemistry the last time they tussled.....and this match was just as good. There is already plenty at stake in this Tournament, with a World Title shot guaranteed for the winner, but there were also bragging rights on the line in this one, with Austin already holding a victory over the Bulldog, albeit a victory gained in a dubious manner.

Austin starts this one much the same as Bret Hart started out against Faarooq earlier this evening...by trying to outwrestle his stronger opponent....he gets much the same result however, with the Bulldog overpowering him at every turn, even pressing his opponent over his head before slamming him down to the mat. Austin runs at the Bulldog, but runs straight into a forearm that knocks him down. Bulldog hooks the legs and propels his opponent into the turnbuckles with a catapult, catching hold of Austin as he staggers back to the centre of the ring and hoists him up for that long, long delayed vertical suplex. Austin begs off, dropping to his knees in surrender and offering his hand to Davey....and while the Bulldog might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, even he's not that stupid....he does take the hand but it's clear by Austin's scream of pain that he is crushing the life out of it.

Austin has had enough and he rolls to the outside for a breather. Bulldog follows him but Steve was clearly anticipating that because he rolls straight back into the ring....and as Davey Boy slides back under the bottom rope, Austin strikes, stomping his head into the canvas. Finally in control, the former Ringmaster slows the pace down, adopting a mat based wrestling offence.....but every now and then he can't stop himself from viciously stomping his opponent, or pummelling him with punches in the corner. Austin delivers a series of knee drops to the lower back of the Bulldog, before mockingly climbing the second rope and giving Bret Harts signature pose, complete with the devil horn hand signal.....which changes to a very different hand signal once the crowd starts to boo him....because Austin flips off the fans. He drops back to the mat and grabs the Bulldogs legs, before hooking him and turning him over in a Sharpshooter. The commentators talk about this being a sign of the lack of respect that Austin has for the Hitman. The Bulldog has felt the pain of the Sharpshooter before however and is able to reach the bottom rope to break the hold.

Austin whips Bulldog into the ropes and swings for a clothesline, Davey Boy is able to reverse it however into a crucifix pinfall attempt, scoring a two count. Steve charges his opponent after the kickout but runs straight into a big dropkick. The Bulldog goes on the offence, whipping Austin into the turnbuckles before delivering a Monkey Flip out of the corner. He indicates that it's over and he lifts his opponent up onto his shoulder and goes for that Running Powerslam that has won him so many matches......it doesn't win him this one though.....because Austin is able to wriggle out, landing behind the Bulldog and using his opponents own momentum to crush him sternum first in the corner. Austin takes a few steps back and as Davey Boy turns around he finds himself on the receiving end of the same sitout 3/4 facelock jawbreaker that Austin hit him with the last time they tangled......Austin makes the cover and three seconds later our Semi-Final brackets are complete.

Winner: Steve Austin

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Semi_zpszqqcyqvh.jpg

We are shown an updated version of the Tournament Brackets, telling us that it's Bret Hart vs. Jeff Jarrett and Steve Austin vs. Roddy Piper in the respective Semi-Final matches.....although as we speak, the condition of Rowdy Roddy Piper (following the brutal attack at the hands of Psycho Sid) means that Steve Austin way very well yet receive a bye. Both of these men have had plenty of time to recuperate from their earlier matches so there can be no excuses here. The bell rings and Jarrett uses all of the stalling tricks in the book to avoid locking up with the Hitman. Bret seems amused at first, but soon grows tired of all the delay tactics and moves his arms up and down in a "chicken" motion, which gets the crowd cheering and chanting....and angers Jarrett, who loses his cool and charges at the Hitman, only to run into a hiptoss that Bret transitions into an armlock. Jeff resorts to raking the eyes to force Bret to break the hold, before pummelling the Hitman with punches that drive Hart back into the corner. Jarrett mounts the corner, looking for the ten punches of doom, but Bret hooks him around the waist and nails him with an inverted atomic drop, before dropping him with a running clothesline.

Bret attempts an Irish Whip, but Jarrett reverses it and sends Hart crashing sternum first into the turnbuckles in a classic Hitman spot. It's Double J on the offence now....and it's a prolonged period of offence too. Jeff takes his frustrations out on Hart, taunting him every step of the way with ".....now who's the coward Bret...." and "......look at Bret Hart, getting beat up by a chicken...." and other ingenious put downs. The crowd were really into the match, obviously the fact that these two had spent so long sniping at each other without actually coming to blows helped.....but the match was a very good match even without that added heat. Jarrett began to switch the focus of his attack to concentrate on the legs of the Hitman, telling the crowd that he was going to make Bret quit ".....then we'll see who the coward is...." even going as far as to whip Hart knee first into the ring steps on the outside.

He eventually drags Bret to the middle of the ring, does his fancy little strut, then locks on the Figure Four, far away from any ropes. Hart is screaming in agony and reaching for a rope break with all his might, but he's simply too far away to be able to escape that way, so he does the only other thing he can and that's to begin to try and turn Jarrett over and reverse the hold......which is exactly what he manages to do.....and with both men now on their front's, Hart is somehow able to untangle his legs from Jarrett, cross Double J's over.....and suddenly Jeff Jarrett finds himself trapped in the Sharpshooter.

Now it's Jarrett that's screaming in agony.....fortunately for Double J though, all the tossing and turning from Bret to reverse the Figure Four had left Jarrett in arms reach of the ropes and he's able to force a break before he has to submit. The King is quick to point out that ".....I've been in that Sharpshooter McMahon and I can promise you that it's one of the most painful holds around.....a lesser man would have quit right there....that's why Double J is no coward....." McMahon says that yes indeed, Jarrett is certainly proving his doubters wrong tonight.

The two men are back to their feet and begin trading punches, this time with Bret managing to drive Jarrett back into the corner. Bret nails him a few more times, before pulling him away from the corner and hitting a snap suplex, followed by a diving pointed elbow drop from the second rope that scores him a two count. He lifts Jarrett to his feet and goes for the pendulum backbreaker but again Jarrett goes to the eyes to escape the move....before whipping Hart across the ring, where he collides with the referee, knocking him down and out.

With the official out of commission Jeff rolls to the outside where he picks up his guitar....or acoustic equaliser as the King calls it....,and holds it high in the air, before turning it around to reveal a Canadian Maple Leaf with a red cross through it painted on the back. He brings it back into the ring and stalks the Hitman, waiting for the opportunity to strike....unfortunately when he does swing it Bret has already moved and the guitar crashes down over the turnbuckle, splintering into useless pieces. Jarrett throws down the neck of the guitar in frustration as Hart advances on him.....however with the official down, Jarrett takes the opportunity to deliver a low blow to the Hitman that drops him to the mat clutching his groin in agony. Jarrett goes over to revive the official, dragging him over to the fallen Hart, before signalling that it's time for the Figure Four again. He bends over to take hold of Brets legs but as he does the Hitman quickly locks in a small package......and just like that this one is over.....Bret Hart has again snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in an excellent Semi-Final match......the Hitman is going to the finals.

Winner: Bret Hart

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Hendrix_zpsw5xcdjjf.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bret%20foundation_zpsfcltfqfj.jpg

Jarrett marches to the back in frustration while the Hitman celebrates in the ring. Before long he is joined by Dok Hendrix, who wants to get a few words with the first finalist of the 1996 King of the Ring. Bret says that he's delighted to get to the final, now it's just a case of waiting to see who his opponent will be. He says he was sorry to see Davey Boy eliminated, but truth be told he was a little relieved, because Bret had fought his family far too many times over the last few years. He says he hopes that Piper is fit to wrestle and it would be an honour to face his good friend in the finals....

".......and then there's Steve Austin.....the man with something to prove apparently. He wasn't born into this business.....the Harts, we were born to wrestle.....wrestling is our religion, and this twenty by twenty square ring is hallowed ground......if Steve Austin thinks he's going to be winning the King of the Ring.....then he's sorely mistaken....and Dok, a bit later, I've got a little treat for everybody....."

Bret goes on to wish Piper luck and heads to the back. That meeting resulted in the demise of the Ringmaster and the birth of Steve Austin.....could this meeting tonight eventually result in the birth of King Austin? Maybe, maybe not, because even if Austin gets past Piper, there's still a Hitman standing in the way of him and the crown. Unfortunately, getting past Piper was far easier that it should have been. While Roddy was medically cleared to wrestle, he shouldn't have been anywhere near a ring tonight, and he had virtually no offence in this very one sided affair. Austin should thank Ted DiBiase and Psycho Sid, because his former manager and stable mate handed him Roddy Pipers head on a silver platter with that attack earlier in the night.....the ending came virtually before this even started. Austin and Piper were going punch for punch.....well Austin was punching, Piper was swinging wildly and missing, almost losing his balance with each thrown punch. Piper did a great job of selling the fact that he was unfit to perform, with his final wild swing and miss sending him stumbling to the mat.

The official threatens to stop the match, while Austin stands back laughing at the lack of offence Piper is showing. Hot Rod threatens to knock the officials block off if he stops the match, Austin laughs at this as well, telling Piper that ".....even the damn Referee could whip your ass today....." Feeling cocky Steve stands with his arms at his sides, telling Piper that he can have one free shot and Austin won't move a muscle....but only one so make it count. Roddy stumbles over to Austin and motions that he's going for a big swing of the fist....but instead he wraps his arm around Steve's neck, locking in the sleeper.....there's no real power behind it however and Austin is able to break the hold with a series of stiff elbows to the ribs, before reaching back and dropping Piper with that same sitout jawbreaker that beat the British Bulldog earlier tonight.....which wields the same result for Roddy as it did for Davey Boy.....and its Steve Austin advancing to the King of the Ring finals.

Winner: Steve Austin

Rating: B

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Ringmaster_zpsgjinxsrb.jpg

With victory in the bag Austin picks up a microphone and tells the official to get Piper out of the ring. He tells Austin that he'll fight him anytime and if he wants to have the match right now then that's fine by him....but first of all he wants to welcome back a great wrestler, former WWF Tag Team Champion.....former King of the Ring winner......his brother, the King of Harts, Owen Hart....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Owen%20Foundation_zpsfj2fxdgo.jpg

.....Owen walks out from the back with a slight limp from the Hamstring injury he picked up at last months In Your House and makes his way down to the commentary table....looks like we're going to have former King of the Ring winner announcing in the finals of this years tournament.

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Bret%20foundation_zpsfcltfqfj.jpg VS. http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Ringmaster_zpsgjinxsrb.jpg

King of the Ring Final Match

Austin isn't happy that Owen has joined the commentary team and he drops to the outside to let him know that "......if you stick your nose in this damn match, you'll be walking with a double limp, because I'll tear your other hamstring for ya...." Owen just motions at Austin to turn around.....because Bret has exited the ring and joined him on the floor. Steve turns to see what Owen is pointing at, and gets clocked straight in the jaw with a Bret Hart right hand and this one is on. The two men throw fists on the floor and brawl about at ringside. The referee tries numerous times to restore some order and get the men into the ring so that this match can officially start but he gets nothing from the two men but continued brawling. Considering this all started with Austin wanting to prove he was the best wrestler, there's not a lot of wrestling going on at the minute. Eventually the referee has had enough and rings the bell, signalling for the start of the match and immediately begins to count the two men out. It's only when he reaches a count of eight that Owen is able to get his brothers attention to the fact that this is about to end in a double count out, that the two men scramble back into the ring.

Back inside and the match carries on.....and despite the fact that Steve Austin didn't come into this event as a bonafide main event star, his performances thus far appear to have tipped him up to a higher echelon than he was at the start of the night....I guess beating a genuine main eventer in the British Bulldog and a living legend like Rowdy Roddy Piper in the same night will do that for you. The crowd reaction is off the chart and these two men are delivering a performance that equals it....be he the best wrestler or not Steve Austin is proving that he is worthy of a place at the top of the card here tonight. It's a sign of how equally matched these two men are by the fact that neither man is able to sustain a prolonged period of offence here. Bret will go on the attack but it's never long until Austin has stopped him in his tracks and taken the offence himself....and vice versa.....

Neither man wants to give an inch. Bret is more aggressive than usual, he slams Austin's skull into the turnbuckles and the two men tumble through the ropes to the outside. Austin slams Harts spine into the ring apron then turns to hurl insults at Owen on the commentary table....but he should probably have paid attention to his opponent, because Bret grabs a hold of Steve and bounces his head off the announce desk, before rolling him back inside the squared circle. The Hitman climbs onto the apron, looking to re-enter the ring, but Austin grabs him by the head and drops down, snapping Bret's neck across the top rope. He reaches over and picks Hart up by the hair, suplexing him back into the ring....but The Hitman reverses it in mid air and crashes down on top of Austin, picking up a two count. Again, no man is able to sustain and advantage for long before his opponent puts a stop to it.

This goes on for some time, until eventually Austin tries to send Hart sternum first into the turnbuckles.....Bret drops down and slides out of the ring at the last minute however and when Austin walks over to follow, Bret grabs the legs of his opponent, trips him to his back....and pulls violently, crotching Austin on the steel ring post. Bret bounces one leg off the unforgiving steel.....and then wraps the other around the post and applying a figure four leg lock, using the ring post as leverage. Austin is screaming in pain but it's technically an illegal hold, so Bret has no choice but to break before the five count....but the damage was done none the less. Hart rolls back into the ring and continues to work on the leg of Austin for a few minutes, before trying to lift him up for an inverted atomic drop but Austin wriggles out of it, lands on his feet, then picks the Hitman up, dropping him across the top rope with a Stun Gun. Steve Austin, perhaps realising that he's going to have to pull out all the stops the win this one, decides to head up to the top rope....but the bad leg that Bret worked on earlier means he's slow to get up there and Hart is able to fall against the ropes, causing Austin to lose his balance and land crotch first on the top turnbuckle. Bret climbs up after him and delivers a huge top rope superplex....but that move knocked the wind out of both me and Hart isn't able to capitalise with a cover.

The two men struggle to their feet and again begin exchanging right hands....Bret looks to deliver an Irish Whip but again Austin is there for a reversal, and he sends Hart crashing into the corner.....unfortunately he also crushed the official who got in the way and the referee and Bret are both down and out. Seeing his opportunity Austin drops to the outside and picks up a steel chair, heading back into the ring.....but Owen Hart isn't going to let that slide and he runs from the announce desk, reaches into the ring and snatches the chair from Austin's hands.....and that's when the chaos ensued.....

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Pillman_zpsklslzyf4.jpg

......because a man that we hadn't seen in quite some weeks comes running down the aisle....the Loose Cannon Brian Pillman. He dives into the ring, putting himself in front of Austin (who is advancing menacingly on Owen Hart) and takes the chair from the King of Harts, telling Austin to back off. He climbs onto the apron and helps a still limping Owen to the floor, telling him to go sit down and rest his leg, Pillman will deal with this.....Owen turns to head back to the announce desk......which is when Pillman absolutely crushes the steel chair straight across the back of his leg, nailing that injured hamstring. Owen collapses like he's been shot, clutching at the leg and Pillman slides back into the ring, laughing wide eyed as he waits for the Hitman to get back to his feet........before crowning Bret Hart at the King of the Ring.....with a steel chair shot right between the eyes. Pillman and Austin face off for a minute, before both men suddenly burst out laughing, before embracing in the middle of the ring....they even briefly hit that old Hollywood Blondes taunt over the fallen Hart Brothers....the one where they mimic operating a video camera.

Pillman heads over to revive the referee while Austin drags a prone Bret Hart back to his feet. He pauses, flips Bret a double middle finger......then for the third time this evening, delivers that sitout jawbreaker that has bought him victory twice already tonight.......and the third time is no different.....because the official slowly counts one, two, three......and Steve Austin is your 1996 WWF King of the Ring.

Winner: Steve Austin

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Hendrix_zpsw5xcdjjf.jpg

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Ringmaster_zpsgjinxsrb.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Pillman_zpsklslzyf4.jpg

A slew of medical personnel run down to the ring area to check on the condition of both Bret and Owen Hart, while Austin and Pillman make their way towards the crowning ceremony area, where Dok Hendrix is waiting for a word with them. He welcomes the duo, before proclaiming that "........the fourth prestigious WWF King of the Ring.....regardless of the dubious way it was achieved....Ladies and Gentlemen, Steve Aus........."

He doesn't get to finish his proclamation however, as a very excitable Brian Pillman interrupts him.....Pillman tells Hendrix, in that uniquely raspy voice of his....that if he's going to address the King, then address him by his full name. Hendrix looks confused so the Loose Cannon snatches the microphone from him and shoves him off the podium, before continuing himself....

"......Ladies and Germs.....it is my absolute privilege, to introduce to you, the best wrestler there is.....the best wrestler there was.....and the best wrestler that there ever will be......the 1996 WWF King of the Ring......Stone Cold Steve Austin..."

Pillman passes the microphone to Austin, before doing the "we are not worthy" bow, laughing to himself.....and telling a fan to "shut the f##k up". Austin takes the microphone and takes in his surrounding for a moment. The gaudy crown and sceptre, the guilded throne and velvet billowing cape.....he picks up the crown and stares at it, before dropping it on the floor and stomping it flat. He then tells the crowd that...

"......the first thing that I want to be done, is to get those two pieces of crap out of my ring....don't just get them out of the ring, get them out of the WWF....because I just proved son, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Harts just don't have what it takes anymore....Bret Hart stands there tonight and talks about how wrestling is a religion for the Harts....that MY ring down there is hallowed ground....well you can come out here and thump your bible and say your prayers to the wrestling gods and it didn't get you anywhere.....talk about your psalms, talk about John 3:16.....Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass....

Pillman is jumping up and down like a madman behind Austin through all of this, jeering the fans and the Harts alike who are currently being helped to the back.....he takes the microphone from Austin to get a few things off his chest.

"......Wahhh, Wahhh, why Brian why? Knight stumbled off the apron, Matt slammed Bobby, Jeff went up top.....Swanton Bomb....one, two, three.....the Nation were far from Dominating here....and Matt and Jeff pick up their first ever Pay Per View win....good for them.

Winner(s): The Hardy Boys

Rating: D

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Hendrix_zpsw5xcdjjf.jpg

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/HBKKliq_zpsphlcapai.jpghttp://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/SunnyKliq_zpsnlytrskn.jpg

Following that we head to the back, where Dok Hendrix is with WWF Champion Shawn Michaels and the only remaining KLiQ member, Sunny. The challenger comes out first for this one and he's more medical tape than man. His ribs, shoulder and knee are all heavily taped as he makes his way slowly down the aisle. Next out is the Champion, who in a mirror opposite of his opponent, dances his way to the ring without so much as a cracked nail to worry about. Michaels does have Sunny by his side for that little added encouragement.....and we all saw on Raw just how much of a difference maker she can be at ringside.

The match gets underway.....well....the fight gets underway....because there isn't going to be a whole lot of 'wrestling' going on here tonight....and the two men come together....the crowd have really reacted well to Steiner in recent weeks and are solidly behind the man they usually see in tag team action, as he lays in big, stiff shots on the Heartbreak Kid, who tries to use his speed to his advantage. Scott Steiner is deceptively quick for his size however and he simply levels a running HBK with a stiff, standing Steinerline. Michaels decides that it would be in his best interest to keep his distance from the muscular madman and delivers a series of dropkicks, before whipping Scott hard into the corner, causing Steiner to cry out from the force of bruised ribs colliding with turnbuckle. Michaels runs in after him and attempts to apply a monkey flip but Steiner grabs hold of the Champion around the waist and basically just muscles the man straight up over his head, over the top rope and crashing down to the floor below, almost in a belly to belly type move. Steiner follows his opponent down to the outside and the two men continue the action at ringside.

Steiner brutalities Michaels all the way up the aisle, bouncing the Heartbreak Kid's face off every available surface on the way. He tosses him up onto the raised podium area that houses the King of the Ring set, before choking the life out of him with the Royal Sceptre that Steve Austin had disregarded earlier. Michaels turns beet red, but before he passes out, Steiner releases the hold, instead choosing to throw the WWF Champion straight into the throne with all his strength. Michaels collides with the golden chair and both he and the throne tip over and tumble off the raised platform. Shawn tries to scramble away but Steiner is incessant, picking up the arm of the throne (which had broken away in the fall) and smashes it over the back of Michaels, as the two men slowly brawl their way back towards the ring. Steiner drags Michaels by the hair but Shawn is able to slow him by dropping to his knees and delivering a low blow, before yanking the timekeeper out of his seat and absolutely smashing the steel chair over the head of the challenger. It sounds like a gunshot Michaels hits the blow with such force....and Steiner certainly sells it like he's been shot. He rolls onto his back and his face is a crimson mask, that chair shot obviously reopening the cut that he sustained on Monday Night Raw.

Michaels is like a shark when he smells the blood and he pounces on top of Steiner, raining down blow after blow, trying to open that cut up even further....before driving Scott's blood stained face into the steel ring post. Michaels reaches under the ring and pulls out a wooden table which he sets up....signalling that he's going to hit Kevin Nash's trademark Powerbomb through the wood....but he doesn't get the opportunity.....because Steiner snatches his legs out from under him, drops him back first on the floor.....and then delivers a slingshot that sends Michaels face first into the ring post. Shawn slowly turns to face his challenger, but Steiner has picked up the discarded chair that Michaels dropped....and now it's the WWF Champion who tastes the steel.....and much like Steiner earlier, his face is now a bloody mess as a result.

The two bleeding men finally end up back inside the ring, where the action slows down a little bit. These type of matches don't last too long usually because of the toll that they take on the body....but we're already almost 15 minutes in and the match doesn't look to be ending yet. Shawn sends Steiner into the corner and hits a number of shoulder barges into the ribs of his Challenger, before wrapping the damaged knee around the ring rope and wrenching back, trying to get as much torque on the joint as possible. Realising that he's not going to out brawl the Steiner Brother, Michaels decides to out wrestle him and proceeds to work over the injured body parts for a while....but both competitors are fading from blood loss, so they might want to get this one over sooner rather than later. Shawn slams Steiner in the middle of the ring, before heading up top, where he hits a perfect elbow drop, before kipping up to his feet and backing up into the corner, where he begins to tune up the band, looking to finish his opponent off with some Sweet Chin Music.

Michaels let's fly, but Steiner was waiting and managed to duck the kick, before catching hold of the Champion and pressing him up high over head. It's quite a sight to see, Scott Steiner, blood dripping down his face while he stands in the middle of the ring with the WWF Champion up in a gorilla press......Steiner isn't done though.....he slowly makes his way over to the side of the ring (with Michaels still overhead) and when he reaches his desired destination he tosses his opponent over the top rope, down to the floor......crashing hard through the wooden table that Michaels set up earlier. Scott drops to the outside and finally manages to roll a dead-weight Shawn Michaels back into the ring, but it takes too long and Steiner is only able to manage a two count off the cover.

Steiner again drops to the floor and rustles about under the ring apron, clearly looking for something in particular.....which is when he pulls out his trusty lead pipe. Michaels goes wide eyed when he sees Steiner entering the ring with the weapon that put his entire stable out and the two tussle over the metal bar for some time before Shawn is suddenly able to hit Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere....unfortunately the force sends Steiner out of the ring and down to the floor....and much like earlier, by the time Michaels manages to roll the mountain of muscles back into the ring, he is only able to pick up a two count.

Shawn is frustrated and heads up top again, but Steiner follows him and delivers a huge Frankensteiner from the top rope that leaves Michaels flat on his back in the centre of the ring. He doesn't go for the cover though......because he spots his lead pipe on the mat. Steiner rolls HBK onto his front and applies that modified Camel Clutch that he has recently used.....only its not his hands that are wrenching back on Shawn Michaels head....no, Steiner has the pipe jammed under Michaels chin and is pulling back for all he's worth. Sunny climbs into the ring and tries to force Scott to break the hold.....but you'd need the jaws of life to prise Steiners hands apart....and in this Unsanctioned, anything goes match, there's nothing the official can do to force a break either.....other than to lift Shawn's arm, which drops straight back down once......

twice............

three times.............

This one is over........and believe it or not, Scott Steiner just defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWF World Championship!!

Winner: .....and NEW WWF Champion....Scott Steiner

Rating: B+

http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/mattfletcher1980/Steiner_zpsttyjnnne.jpg

A disbelieving Sunny drags a bloody and broken Shawn Michaels from the ring and helps him to the back out of harms way, while a delirious Scott Steiner is handed the WWF Title. He drops to his knees and grips the Championship close to his chest, as the blood still flows down his face. It's not long before Rick Steiner has hit the ring to congratulate his brother, he pulls the new Champion to his feet at the two men embrace, before Rick raises Scott's arm in victory and Scott raises the Title in triumph, as a flurry of pyro explodes over head and the show comes to a close.

Rating: B+

Final Rating: B+

Another Pay Per View in the books and all in all another success. Michaels and Steiner did well in their brawl and I was really pleased with the way that Steve Austin performed throughout the night. He not only cemented a place in the main event scene with his performances but he also more than proved that he was worth the pay rise that he requested last month. In hindsight I should maybe have moved Bret and Austin up to the main event spot, because they had a hell of a match....not only that but they did slightly out perform Steiner and Michaels....although it didn't help that Shawn had to be protected so much during the match to avoid him throwing a major hissy fit about being asked to lose.

Austin and Pillman did great in their coronation promo. It was totally unscripted and I left what they said down to them....it really paid off, and that "Austin 3:16" that Steve came out with was genius, it looked like the fans really took to it.....I think Steve could have a nice little catchphrase there, couple it with his "that's the bottom line" sign off and he might just have found the missing piece of his character. (OOC: Whether it was some kind of narrative, or just a hugely ironic coincidence....Austin really did debut a catchphrase during that Promo, complete with all the boosts that come with it.....he's also come a long way from the C- popularity that he was at the start of the year......in fact at the start of this event he was auto pushing at an Upper Midcarder, with B- across the USA.....and had gone up to a main eventer, with B+'s and A-'s at the end of the show....to say that this event made Stone Cold Steve Austin would be an understatement.)

Road Warrior Hawk got into a spot of bother before the event aired, taking it upon himself to tell poor Rad Radford to get used to being nothing more than a jobber, because that's all hell ever be.....now while Hawk may well have been right, after all Rad never appears in TV unless he's putting someone over on Superstars......but it was the so called "jobbers" that made the Road Warriors what they are today, as they steamrolled through enough of them back in the 80's.....who's going to put Bob Holly over if not for the Rad Radfords of the world eh Hawk?....You? No I didn't think so.....surprisingly the stern warning didn't result in Hawk blowing a gasket and attempting to choke me out like I half expected it to do......in fact he promised to try and improve his behaviour....and said he was actually pleased to have been called out on his bulls##t....wonders will never cease.....maybe next I'll be able to get Shawn to lose a match without bitching.....but somehow I doubt it.

Preview for Monday Night Raw, Week 4, June 1996

The Steiner Brothers vs. Steve Austin & Brian Pillman

Comments:

The British Bulldog vs. Goldust

Comments:

Match to determine the #1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title

Marc Mero vs. Billy Gunn

Comments:

Rocky Maivia vs. Jesse James

Comments:

Tatanka vs. Faarooq

Comments:

The Hardy Boys vs. Kane & Mankind

Comments:
