With some forums on the Internet seeing that the title of this thread is 'Most Overrated Workers in the C-Verse' every single post in this topic would have to only be about that. Even if your post was pretty much about discussing the topic in the title, they would still not find that proper in a topic. Some moderators would reply like YOU CANNOT COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES, HOW DARE YOU MAKE A POST LIKE THAT! YOU NEED TO MAKE A NEW TOPIC FOR THIS! IF YOU DO THIS AGAIN, YOU WILL BE BANNED, OR MAYBE EVEN HAVE A PERMANENT BAN! THIS IS OFF TOPIC, THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS TOPIC IS ABOUT! THIS 1 SENTENCE IS GOING TO KILL THE WHOLE FORUM AND RUIN EVERYTHING! YOU MUST CREATE A NEW TOPIC FOR THIS AND THE 2 PEOPLE THAT REPLIED TO YOUR COMMENT MUST BE TOLD TO PUT IT IN THAT THREAD! I AM THE MODERATOR OF THIS FORUM, I AM THE ALL-MIGHTY!!!

Your posts were about the topic in my opinion discussing something like Call In Ring having an effect on if someone is overrated or underrated, and not truly understanding it.

I think Alicia Strong is a bit overrated. She's an excellent talent, don't get me wrong, and I'll always sign her if she becomes available when I'm playing AAA or QAW, but sometimes she's great, and sometimes she's overshadowed by others on the roster. When you combine that with her occasional problematic attitude, she's good, but she's also not the top for women's wrestlers.

But in USPW, SWF or even TCW, he's going to struggle to keep up.

In other performance > pop and performance = pop companies, there are better options out there. High-Spot matches are easily exploitable in TEW, and there are several better options there for those matches -- El Serpiente, Tiger Savaje Jr. and La Estrella are all examples outside the major companies.

In pop > performance companies, El Mitico Jr. will struggle to get over. His charisma and star quality just aren't that great. His promo skills are lacking. He isn't a passable brawler and his selling is only above average. For a "midcarder" or "utility player", he's going to be expensive and I'm going to have to invest in him to get him over in the States. For a "star", there are many better options.

For example, if I'm running USPW, and Velocidad becomes available, I'm going to pick him up right away, because he has great charisma and star quality and excellent high-flying skills. There's no reason for a U.S. Big Three company to sign him -- especially at game start, when he's 21 and has no overness -- because he doesn't fit in any of them.

I'm getting dangerously close to putting Kirk Jameson in this pile. I may have just gotten bad destiny rolls with him, but he's stalled out as a "good" worker for me, and dude needs a manager because he CANNOT talk.

Prometheus and Hugh de Aske thus far for me in CGC. Folks always say how good Hugh is but I've yet to see him get a good rating with his pirate gimmick and he always seems to be off his game. Prometheus meanwhile is always being rated on the top prospect or next big thing lists by my creative team and I can't for the life of me see why as he sucks in every conceivable way.

I'm absolutely spoilt by Phantom Stranger's TCW diary (A Quiet Retirement) as he writes Eric Tyler so well that I expect so much more out of him than I can ever get.

Whenever I run TCW from 2008 (which is fairly often, as it's so well balanced) I want Tyler to be the rookie-training, workrate-delivering machine that he appears to be from PS's writing, and I'm always so disappointed in him. He always starts in time decline and his matches struggle to deliver decent ratings.

El Mitico for me I think, I expected him to get over well in CZCW but he wasn't easy to get over, his performances were lower than my top end guys and he was just kinda Upper midcard floater.

What kind of match/performance grades were/are you getting with him? I'm in 2020 right now as CZCW and he's averaged an 87 B+ in 20 matches so far, with 2 A's and 6 A* rated matches. His individual match performances are always great too, almost always coming in somewhere between 94 and 100.

In general, never trust when the game says someone will be great, because it's a trap [see Faith, Matty]. I get it, Higa is good. But she isn't good enough to justify being the worst backstage influence in TEW History. Plus, she's competing with several great female talents on the American independents [because let's face it, almost no one here plays 5SSW in '16]. Point being, with Joanne Rodriguez and Snazzle Brazzle and Cherry Bomb and other greats at your disposal, what makes Higa worth the hassle on the wrong side of twenty? Her above-average psychology? Decent promo skills? I get that her star quality draws in a lot of people, but you aren't exactly entering national battles anytime soon with AAA -- plus, in TEW 2016, you can always get close to an A with any number of prospects after getting them to increase in size.

I would agree, but not for those exact reasons.

Her stats are luminous. She can literally do it all. She is the Lauren Easter of the more recent TEWs (and I'm sure many long timers in the series can tell you how overused she was before being locked up by NOTBPW). The problem is, her personality. Unless you build your locker room to offset or mitigate it, she can cause serious issues backstage. Is it worth the trouble? That's a personal determination. For me, there is too much talent in the C-Verse on the women's side for me to even bother. I can turn Talia Quinzel or Thea Davis into a worker who can produce similar (if not better) match ratings while at the same time being a benefit to my backstage rating.

How you gonna call out Higa's age when the people you mentioned are nearing the end of their careers. Long live Higa!

The difference is that, at least with J-Ro and the "Miracle Blonde", they often take on proteges and train young wrestlers, and that's an added bonus; in fact, one playthrough saw Suzanne Brazzle take on TWO proteges at the same time! Again, never used Higa, but I HAVE had a few negative influences in various games, and I've never seen a negative influence take on a protege. Even "not negative influences" who can be difficult if they're too over, like Alicia Strong and Raven Nightfall, will take mentor roles on occasion.

This is an excellent point! Higa is only going to benefit Higa. There are plenty of other workers who will be a Magic Johnson type (i.e. make the people around them better) in any number of ways.

That's kind of... the point. Higa doesn't stand out compared to other competitors, so it isn't really worth putting up with her extremely negative backstage influence.

Let's also remember most players aren't using her in Japan, where she's decently over, but bringing her into an American company, where she starts out with zero overness.

Higa starts with 30 popularity in Japan. That is not difficult to produce in America (given the proliferation of entertainment based products), especially with her star quality. Now whether she gets to figurehead levels of popularity depends totally on your promotion's size, I'd think. Though I don't know why you'd appoint a figurehead if you can't sign exclusive (i.e. written) contracts. At Cult+, it's doable if a bit time consuming, balancing her positive angles with defeats to keep her egotism slider from flying off the left side of the monitor.

You sure you aren't talking about Yuma Maruya? Higa is the best choice as a figurehead for any all-female promotion,

That is unequivocally false, in my opinion. It doesn't match anything I've experienced in this edition of the game. Your figurehead needs to be among the most over workers on your roster. Higa doesn't fit that bill for 5SSW, much less anywhere else. It would take more work to make her figurehead worthy than most people are willing to invest. I run all-female promotions, exclusively. Higa, while an excellent prospect (personality notwithstanding), doesn't rate highly as a figurehead without significant work. Oh and if you rush her to the top (popularity wise), guess what that does to her personality? <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> The best choice for a figurehead for 5SSW is Yuma Maruya, bar none. So that's one all-female promotion where that idea is dispelled. AAA? Sara Marie York is a better choice. Again, this has to do with improving her to the point where she's considered a viable choice. With her personality, try asking her to lose a match to ANYBODY. Her morale plummets even with the (potential) match rating killing notes added. Yep, I've played 5SSW with Higa as figurehead. It sucks hardcore, even with a slow build (2 years) leading to her coronation (which of course then took another year to set).

I played a custom all-womens company based in Eastern Europe, Higa and Jippensha were two of my first signings but absolute cancer backstage. In my 5SSW save though (yes, there are people who do that) they are drowned by an overwhelmingly positive locker room: I'm halfway into 2018 and neither has ever been involved in a backstage incident. Higa's performance is consistently in the B to B+ range, her Charisma and SQ are figurehead stuff and she's young. My only worry is she might become too expensive too soon, but 5SSW has a solid foundation and no competition anyway. I can see her being an issue brought into other companies, but she's far from overrated in 5SSW.

She's not overrated in 5 Star because she's among the young core expected to take over when the (sometimes mass) retirements start happening. She can carry the promotion should that occur, but that doesn't mean she's the best choice to do so. I'd much rather install Yuma Maruya as figurehead and develop some of the other young workers (Sae, Yu, Hana, Miwako, and OMG Gemmei) to pick up the slack. Add to the young talent debuting over time (Emiko Miyoshi, Rina Kasahara, etc) and you can grow to National without her. Problem with Fuyuko is, once those vets start retiring (several of whom are LRLs), she starts having even more influence over the backstage rating. That's not a good thing.

I think Alicia Strong is a bit overrated. If you're running USPW, she's a godsend and can seemingly get a decent match from anyone on the roster. If you're not, she's probably not worth the money she'll ask for by the time her written deal comes up for renewal.

Regarding Higa, she's got good Star Quality, but there are a few young talents with better, like Alina America. The other thing that hurts Higa is that her starting Charisma is 79, which isn't bad for 5SSW, but in a company like AAA? She'll be easily overshadowed.

Of course, if you really want to use Higa, either select her as your user character or just go into the in-game editor and... "persuade" her into better behavior. Maybe that's cheating, but if Higa were playing TEW 2016, isn't that exactly the sort of thing she'd do?

This is a great thread. Happy to put my two cents in. Here's my list.

- Snap Dragon: He has a big reputation in Mexico, but is usually on time decline when the game starts. As such, he quickly becomes unable to live up to said reputation when SOTBPW ultimately lets him walk. I've made the mistake of acquiring him thinking I could get something out of him, and I couldn't have been more wrong.

- Greg Black: If you're running a smaller company, he looks very appealing at the start of the game. From a ratings standpoint, he can work, and he's reasonably popular. However, DO NOT overpush him. Even in small, regional promotions, he's nothing more than a midcard hand who actually goes DOWN in popularity if he wins too often. The only time I've ever had success booking him was when I started a custom company, somehow got Elmo Benson, and reunited their tag team. Even then, though, while Benson rose to the 80's in terms of popularity and become an upper midcard/main event level guy, Black was stuck in the mid-60's and could not go any higher.

- Tadiyuki Kikkawa: I'm booking BHOTWG in a multiplayer game that's being documented on the diary forum, and booking Kikkawa in 2016 is a real challenge. He's super over, and he can work a DECENT match, but he's nowhere near the worker he once was, and he'll insist on being kept strong or protected in his losses. He's still a great brawler, but you can't use him in that setting without ticking off the crowd given BHOTWG's current product that minimizes that sort of wrestling.

Your top talent will pull in Weak sales at best, whereas even a Time Decline Raven will pull in Average.

When I hire people, I always use the filter to get rid of anyone with negative influence. Both the temporary "they're usually fine, but a backstage incident has caused them to become a drain on locker room morale" and what I call the "Brooke Tyler Effect" wherein the "Usually a Negative Influence" or worse gradually shows up in their behavior tab.

It's rare, but I've seen the reverse happen too. I'm playing a 5SSW game currently, year one, and Eri Sato isn't showing up because I filter out negative influences, which I found surprising, because I've hired her in a QAW game in the second year and the "Negative Influence" was missing.
