What's going on in YOUR game?

Recommended Posts

Having started in 1991 with 0 records it's very surprising to see your record. I do however feel that he has been lucky... foster and Matthew dean both had to pull out of fights due to injuries and I feel they'd have won, perhaps spiralling morrison into a run of losses.

Wish I could've gotten that one on 100 but it made too much sence now and I want to get the winner on that show defending it anyway. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

It does seem more common to me for fighters with good stand up finishing skills to go on undefeated runs (like Sukarno pretty much every time lol), but I've also seen Foster & Fezzik finish their careers on runs with 10-15 wins and between zero and two losses, so those surprised me too. But I also usually run 10-round fights, so that might be a factor. I love how a fighter's history and experience really seems to matter. Like one can go on a bad run early and it will wreck their entire career (I've seen Monroe go on an 0-8 run before GAMMA cut him, then he retired at like 9-13 after losing a few local fights lol). Or how most prospects will drown if you throw them right into deep water, but if you give them a little time to develop they can hang with much tougher opponents even if their actual skill stats haven't changed much. And then those can build into amazing runs. Like when Toby Sorkin made it to 28-0 before finally taking a loss. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Wow didn't really knew that but it really does seem like momentum plays a big role. Isn't the case in my save and he and Lamont are like my two favorit fighters in game. Although he's kind of different in this game anyway. In WMMA 3 Sukarno threw so many crazy and creative strikes on a regular basis, isn't doing that at all in my save now sadly... <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Started with a little over 200 fighters on Bellator when I initiated the game, now i'm at 401 and a few more about to sign. The big signings and stacked cards have helped me raise my popularity, but financially things are getting very hard. I'm starting a youtube show to see if I can keep getting popularity and (aside from the half a dozen cards i already have booked that lead to Bellator 220 where Ronda Rousey will try to become a dual champ on the main event) it will be time to cut some costs by booking cheaper cards. I invested big, now it is time to see if it makes or breaks Bellator.

Same here! It just feels right to have every fight on those cards be as significant as reasonably possible, whether for its story or its divisional impact.

Good luck! I had one game where they fought five times. Stopped each other twice and had a split decision after 11 rounds (couldn't believe they went the distance that time lol). Three 'good' fights, one 'great' fight, and one 'fantastic' fight (the 11-rounder featured 7 knockdowns iirc).

I'm not sure how the mechanic works but it sure seems to exist. I can't think of anything else that would explain some of these wild streaks (like Murilo Satinho winning as the underdog 9 times in a row against fighters I built to dethrone him lol), whether winning or losing. It can be sooo tricky to get them to reverse a slide like in that case with Marlon John.

Yeah I really hope I can build a good one but making the other cards around good enough is also a challenge. I'm already at a Mid International size but I could take a step back or two since I'm not really worried about money anyway or popularity. I just want to make the best and most intersting fights. Already blew like 40 Mil away because I created an Internet global PPV provider which brought in like 4 times less then my USA Free Choise / all around the world coverage at the time. :D

Now I created several enourmous single nation normal PPV providers and I'm having the money now to invest into a free global chanel that will cover my weak Battle Lines shows which I book at a throwaway level. Hopefully it helps with getting fighters popular more quickly as they should have tons of eyes on them now.

And the Ramos vs. Monroe fight happend now. Sadly it was a quick one. Monroe got his revenge in just 2 min and 35 seconds. Had a good rating but I was hoping for a little more action. After all these stories I'm hearing about momentum I probably build Ramos up carefully after this loss though. He's just 26 and I want him in major fights for several more years. He could also move up to LHW if Monroe dominates the match up or if Monroe goes balistic I possibly could move him up and try to let him go crazy against those LHW. Will be interesting...

This lost connection/failed to save error is weird. It's getting to where I can't even sim a full month in the 1994 game without it failing again. So I built a test game with only one company and ~300 fighters. In that one I can consistently sim 5 years at a time with ease. And those five years go by in maybe an hour or so. It's dramatically faster than the other database. :(

Man that sucks. What does failing mean in that sence? That it breaks the simulation for no reason or does it crash basically and you gained no progress at all? And was that one company save with the same database size or a smaller database? Definitly seems messed up though...

My big mistake was to book O'Neill at GAMMA 97. She should've really been on this card. By far the most successful woman in my save. Went 10-0 now from the start, 7 titel fights won and that first ever Champ vs. Champ Super fight against an undefeated Sadorra at the time. 3 grand prixs done. 3 new champions. 3 brand new contenders ready to challenge. And 1 more grandprix/champion in the works. My UFA dynasty is growing well. Another company appears which is good too. Would like to see a few more in the next year or so.

I just had one of the best main events (from a watching stand point, not rating). It's February 2005, I'm controlling SIGMA. Hassan Fezzik came out of retirement and of course I booked him against my Heavyweight champion, Hanif Hussain who just had a trio of fights with Ari Peltonen (which saw him become a 2X champion). Hussain has been unstoppable in his last 5 fights. 3 TKOs (Peltonen 2X and Ya Konan) and 2 KOs (Van Post, Spencer Rubenstein).

So in comes the fight. It had to be rescheduled from December to February after an injury to Hussain during training, no problem. He's 100%, so is Fezzik. Hussain is immediately taking down (much like he was in the first fight with Peltonen) and I'm thinking that's it. Fezzik does about 6-7 submission attempts but can't finish him off.

Round 2, Hussain keeps it standing for the first couple of minutes and rocks Fezzik, but then breaks his hand! I couldn't believe it, he has a chance to finish Fezzik but not only cannot finish Fezzik, the 1 dimensional fighter is now pretty much screwed! Immediately Fezzik does a takedown and locks in an armbar... And instead of tapping out, the ref has to call for the bell because he won't tap out!

Insane fight.

It sets up Fezzik-Hussain II down the road, if Fezzik doesn't retire again before then.

Checked that, checked organic biographies since they can slow things down, messed with fighter generation numbers, changed the length of time for which post-fight reports are stored, etc. It always seems to fail during the 'creating weekly backup' portion of the process. Since the other save using the same database started acting weird around the same time I've stopped playing that one as well. Which sucks, but also kinda fits my pattern with most games. I'll play one save a ton, then eventually get bored and start all over again. Lol. Only this time the restart is not due to boredom. So now I'm actively playing a database with about 300 fighters and one active company while trying to decide how I want to set up another sim-only game. Oh well.

Just drew up my first official top 10 rankings and plans for the next 3 or 4 events re: champions. Contenders etc. This game is awesome!

Sidenote and attention seeking post: nearly 4000 views on my dynasty and not one reply to my posts. Even with all my sexy graphics Haha!

Sideside: I'd love the ability to play multiplayer and run a 4 man dynasty or something. That would be awesome.

Like I promissed I've got a big anniversary card upcoming and wanted to share that here with a preview and a following aftermath post. (Warning!: It got super long so you might want to skip through some stuff. The last 3 fights + 3rd and 4th are must reads imo)

It's the 100th GAMMA show in the default set up with very small tweaks. I play with medium injury rates, low legal issues and no deaths. I recently changed the genereted fighter count but it didn't have much of an effect yet. Right now I don't think any generated fighter is close to shoot up into the elite tier of a division. I also immediately added every missing divison, the 3 womans divisions and blew up the roster to about 500-600 fighters. Now I'm a little over 3 years into the save and pretty much every interesting fighter is on my roster apart from a few guys who aren't elite and have an unattractive style. The fighter that best supports that is Osamu Dan whos still with Alpha.

So thats kind of the setup. In terms of what this anniversary show kind of means in my save and what I want to achieve with it ideally I basically want to make it by far the most important show with several elite main events on the card. All the best champions, backstory fights (which didn't work out too well in this instance) and the most interesting up and comers who are very close to the elite ranks and I'm super excited for. For this PPV all fights will be 5x5 min RNDs instead of just the Main Events & other Titel fights.

One quick note before hand:

My biggest and pretty unforgivable mistake in setting up this card up was not having Pamela O'Neill on. Origanily I wanted to match her up in a super fight against long term Featherweight Champ Hester Maclean but she surprisingly lost her last match at GAMMA 93 against a fairly meh contender and that idea was therefore out the window. With those plans destroyed I had a complete brain fart and set O'Neill up for a title defense against Lehane at GAMMA 97 which she won but had no chance to make it on the 100 card just 9 weeks later with a long recuperation. To quickly put her resume in perspective, she went 10-0 in simulated fights now. Won the Bantamweight belt late in 2002, successfully defended it 6 times since and won the historic first Womans PPV Main Event which happend to be a Super fight against the undefeated Flyweight Champion at the time Daniela Sadorra. The resume also led to 3 straight Female Fighter of the Year Awards and you could argue it gives her the best run male or female period in this save...

Now I wanna give her the first PPV Main Event outside the US in GAMMA history possibly in her home country but the damage is done :/

So here we go! These fights are booked with 4 weeks to go so they could change due to injury. (The braketed records are the results during the save)

1st Match

Womans Featherweight Championship

Kelly Andrews © 8-1 (3-0) vs. Erin Distefano 3-0 (3-0)

Andrews surprisingly won the Title at GAMMA 93 against Hester Maclean who was on a super dominant run winning every single one of her previous 6 GAMMA fights. After winning the Belt in dominant fashion in 5 RNDs (2x 50-43, 50-42) against Romi Takahashi at GAMMA 73. Maclean went on brutalizing Lehane in 5 RNDs with an even more dominant 1st defense (2x 50-38, 50-37) and defendeing against Alisha Wood via 2nd RND TKO before losing to Kelly. What made it even more surprising that Andrews came off an almost 2 year long layoff after suffering a torn ACL in august of 03. Andrews will defend against the hottest up and coming woman on the planet right now in Erin Distefano. The 21 year old has made a very strong impression with 3 dominant early stoppages. All of them not even taking 7 minutes. Distefanos last win came against a contender herself in Tabitha Cameron who was on a 3 fight win streak and very close to a Title fight herself. With that impressive W on her resume she gets the first crack at the yet to be established new featherweight champion looking to defend for the first time.

Light Heavyweight

Danny Akabaro 15-1 (6-1) vs. Valentin Taneyev 16-2 (5-2)

Akabaro one of the hottest young commodities in GAMMA will face a perenniel contender Taneyev who always comes close but short in his big fights. This will be a great opportunity for Akabaro to proof he belongs in the Octagon with the best the LHW division has to offer. He already started by beating Niko Soldo at Battle Lines 27 making it 5 straight Ws since his GAMMA debut. His only loss came against Matthew Michael Kirby in his last BCF fight. Taneyev meanwhile beat up the middle class of the division pretty good, also getting his most impressive W to date with beating Curt Kitson recently. Just in big fights he hasn't deliver yet. He lost a split decision to Anthony LeToussier late in 02 and lost a decision to Spencer Rubenstein the former long term LHW Champ early in 04.

Womans Flyweight

Daniela Sadorra 14-2 (6-2) vs. Nina Belle 11-3 (2-2)

Daniela Sadorra became the first female ever to become GAMMA Champion, in an historic 5 RND fight against Clare Peyton in Febuary of 2002. From that point on she absolutely dominated her competition stopping the next 5 contenders early (Samir, Belle, Rives, Rogers & Oliver). With her division being down on deserving contenders and a Womans fight never making the Main Event, GAMMA 85 was created. A super fight with the undefeated Champion and the super dominant Batamweight Champ Pamela O'Neill was set up. O'Neill won 4 straight title fights at that point and won both previous fighter of the year honors leading up to the clash. With the catchweight agreed upon at 128 pounds to not have both titles on the line the two went to war with Sadorra narrowly missing out in the end. She won the first two RNDs, the second one in dominating fashion as she had O'Neill dazed in the maddle of that RND with a thunderous head kick. Ultimately she lost in RND 3 though due to a kimura. Unfortunately her loss put her in a downward spiral where she immediately lost to the following flyweight contender Jenny DeNeuve who took the title off her with a 1st RND TKO victory at GAMMA 90. Now looking to get back to her winning ways she fights a former contender in Nina Belle. Those two met previously in October 2002 where Sadorra put Belle out early in RND 2. Belle on the other hand has two wins against lower tier contenders on her hands (Holmes & Rives) but couldn't win the big fight yet. Losing out in the Sadorra title fight and in a recent loss to Sandy Oliver. Now she looks to finally beat a Flyweight blue blood and go for another run to the top of the division.

Middleweight

Ramos da Silva Ramos 15-1 (8-1) vs. Heiji Endo 20-4 (5-2)

The fight of two guys previously on top of the world trying to get back to that place. Ramos is coming off losing his Middleweight Title in his second defense. In a fight where two great comets on the Middleweight horizon collided and Ramos came up with the short end of the stick. It was the Re-Match of his fight against Isaiah Monroe which he lost quickly via TKO in RND 1. Before that he went on an incredible streak putting elite Middleweight contention out left and right (Petey Mack & Brauilo Moura). Winning the Title against an impressive Matthew Dean and defending it against da Guia before losing to Monroe. Endo on the other hand was the Fighter of the year in 2002 while winning the Alpha MW Championship against Fontes, switching to GAMMA and immediately winning that Title as well against Buddy Garner. He also started 03 in style with his first defence against Napier in a 4th RND stoppage victory. But lost his Title in the next fight against the old Champ returning from injury, Matthew Dean. After blowing his come back fight against Adam White he finds himself again on winning ways due to a win against Fjodor Kanchelskis in the Battle Lines 26 Main Event.

5th Match

152 LBS Catchweight

Sukarno 34-2 (4-2) vs. Li-Kong Ho 26-5 (5-3)

The Middle of the card is occupied by a match up between two of my favorite fighters during my first ever WMMA 3 playthrough. Sukarno was this super exciting knockout machine, with crazy punches that won pretty much everything. And Ho literally won everything period. Didn't lose one fight and submitted everybody before I stopped the save like 4 or 5 years in. In this save they are both underwhelming a bit. Sukarno lost his Alpha LW Championship immediately against Atep of Indonesia. Then won his last two with Alpha against unimpressive opponents although he got his belt back before he came to us. His first GAMMA fight was for the LW Title which he also lost against Helio via Leg Kick. Now he got back on track with back to back wins against Jake Keane and Naizen Hamacho. Ho also had his problems. Losing the two title shots he got against Ziskie and Banner and also losing a split decision to Fyre after the Banner loss. Now he's also back on track with wins against Bohlin & Dudok. I hope the winner will catapult into another stratusphere and finally get going.

6th Match

Heavyweight

James Foster 40-6-1 (3-2) vs. Kanezane Fujii 13-1 (6-0)

This fight is best described with Legend vs. Rising Star. The living GAMMA Legend will face against the Japanease Phenom on his way to the top of the mountain in the HW division. After suffering a long term injury (herniated spinal disk) in early 2002 Foster had to relinquish the title he previously held and defended for 6 1/2 years. After being out for over a year he came back to claim his Championship back from a fairly fresh Champ in Rav Kapur he defeated in a 5 RND decision. But the farytale ended quickly as he lost the title immediately to another HW Legend in the sport Hassan Fezzik in a quick TKO finish in under 2 minutes. After suffering another quick loss against Terron Cabal to put him on the back foot for good he came back with two wins against guys on the outside looking in of the Heavyweight contender tier. Now back with momentum on his side he is looking for one more run to the top of the hill. Fujii on the other hand is red hot winning 3 fights with Alhpa 1 and another 3 right off the bat in GAMMA against tough competition. One for example agaianst a previous Champ in Rav Kapur. Now he's looking for one or two more fights before he can potentially fight for the Heavyweight Crown.

Heavyweight Championship

Lars-Gunnar Ekberg © 15-0 (8-0) vs. Hiro Arai 24-5 (3-0)

The first of the 3 Main Championship Fights to end the best GAMMA Card ever. Lars-Gunnar Ekberg is the new Heavyweight Champion winning his Title currently at GAMMA 92 against Aleksander Ivanov. Who was on a terrifying win streak himself winning the title (vs. Fezzik) and defending the belt twice against elite contenders (Lopes & Cabal). Ekbergs build up in his early years was careful with the best opponents being guys like Hoynes or Dooley and he got his shot with two impressive wins against contenders like Pai Cheng & Lefter Oktay. Meanwhile Arai just had 3 GAMMA fights but was seen as an elite HW before he switched from Alpha to GAMMA. His first fight was a tune up against Fritz Phipps after he had a 2 1/2 year layoff after his 2001 defeat against Hassan Fezzik. He avenged that loss in June of 2004 though and won the following contender fight against Lefter Oktay a few months afterward which set him up for this titlefight in a tumultuous division.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Featherweight Championship

Lamont Banner © 15-0 (7-0) vs. Fernando Peragon 17-3 (4-0)

Lamont Banner has possibly the most impressive streak going as he is undefeated and on top of the world now for quite some time. He became interim Champion for the first time in May of 03 when Ziskie had to pull out of the undisputed titel bout as he suffered a long term injury and he defeated Tomohiro Takeuchi. After a successful interim defence against Li-Kong Ho he finally unified the Featherweight belts in May of 2004 against the first ever and dominant GAMMA Featherweight Champ Philip Ziskie. He recently defended his belt for the first time against Sammy Gaffigan with a quick 1st RND KO. Fernando Peragon has only had 4 GAMMA fights up to this point but is a strong finisher with every fight being stopped early and defeating top contenders in his last two fights (Diggle & Dalglish).

MAIN EVENT

Light Heavyweight Championship

Zvonimir Asanovic © 40-5 (8-1) vs. Isaiah Monroe © 16-1 (8-0)

For the Main Event I chose to put on a super fight which will be contested at 205 for the Light Heavyweight Titel. It is the second super fight I made in this save and the first one between two male fighters. It's the Light Heavyweight Champion VS Middleweight Champion, 2x Fighter of the year (2003 & 2004) VS the hottest fighter in MMA. Asanovic is now the LHW Champ for almost 2 years, he won the title from an impressive Champion himself Spencer Rubenstein in June of 2003. Since then he defended his Belt successfully against 4 quality oppontents (Raul Hughes, Tadamasa Yamada, Mike Watson & Affonso Villar). His only blemish came in the Alpha 1 Light Heavyweight Tournament Final loss against Jiroemon Hasagawa via 6th RND decision early in 2002. Meanwhile Isaiah Monroe hasn't lost a fight since July of 2001 (vs. Ramon da Silva Ramos). He's been on a 8 fight win streak ever since with guys on his hit list like Buddy Garner, Neil Napier, Dwayne Alleyne & Adam White. Knocking out every single one of his opponents within 3 RNDs. His most impressive win yet came at GAMMA 95 where he avenged his only loss and became MW Champion against Ramon da Silva Ramos. Who was undefeated with probabaly the most impressive set of victories at that point in time.

So hopefully I got a few of you intrested in the card. At the very least I have a cool timestamp I can look back to after another few years or possibly at the next anniversary. I'll update this probably in the next few days, possibly even tommorrow with the results and the aftermath of the event. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Set up a great card including HW champion fezzik vs #1 funk. The winner was planned to take on the winner of alois vs McCall which takes place on my European contenders series...

Alois pulls out with 2 weeks left. My next in line is on a 2 loss streak and has a bout that night already. I feel bad for SIGMA because I steal their talent all the time... but I also like that they build it up for me. Haha

So I stole their HW champ. Just as I did when I brought in Dezzik. Oops

Damn 15 years! And what a record!

My plan is that once I get enough money and momentum I'm going to purchase these smaller companies, but keep them open. I run a contender series which is basically an international show that allows me to check the local talent. I keep the good ones and release the cans.

So I may purchase these companies and rebrand them, as UFA company. Let them control theirselves but then steal their talent in what I like to think of as 'a promotion' Haha. Think like NXT and WWE.

Still on my Bellator save, haven't had time to play in the last few days, hope to do so today.

I'm wondering if i should build a small broadcaster to cover the areas i have no coverage in and the ones i'm about to lose contracts on. It would allow exposure and some income, instead of having to rely on youtube and sites like that. ALthough they give more pop gain, they also give no money, so id don't mind waiting to grow those areas more slowly, what i need right now is profit.

Thing is i made a ton of roster investment and have been daunting the UFC by stealing their top guys and even created some new weight classes for women. (Might create more) so i don't have much money and i was hoping to buy out PLMMA or whatever it is called soon as a child company cause they are probably close to bankrupcy. Decisions, decisions.

Because I started in 1990 with no other companies I was getting some exposure and stuff but I didnt feel that it was replicating where I felt I was in the game. And due to getting used to the game whilst playing etc I decided to create my own broadcaster. Showtime sports. I had them 'take over' my company, invest some cash, change some plans. "Legitimise the company" and offered a platform for my shows. I have every main show on PPV (I feel that's ok for back then. Cable ppv. Vhs etc) and my contender series I just have as like a local live event.

I'm making a killing but I dont tend to focus on the money at this point because I can get the guys I want for less than 5k etc. With a few pushing higher wages. But it dosent effect how I play the game right now.

In the future when there is more competition etc then sure money may matter.

Eventually I'll have showtime either sell up or create a specific MMA channel and broadcast my smaller shows. I guess I just focus on my imagination so yeah man... create a broadcaster. You'll not look back lol

I'm in 2016 of my XCC save.

Financially stable, we're making around 3 million a month.

At High Level International and we're ranked 4th in the world out of 8.

At my Bantamweight, Ollie Rockmettller was insane with 27 straight title defenses between October 2002 and March 2016. He was the #1 P4P for a while and he was the biggest reason we grew as we did. He finally lost by knockout in the first round to Martin "Houdini" Backlund, a 25 year old regen who had a respectable 14-3 record. The 40 year old Rockmettller is 37-1-1 and has told me that he's seriously considering retiring the next match.

My other divisions aren't too interesting, they trade belts back and forth with 2 defenses on average. I'm thinking about expanding to a welterweight class.

The game currently runs pretty slow so I don't know how long I can keep this up. GAMMA is #1 and has run 338 shows so far.

My latest save is an original work based on stories starting in the 1988 Olympics with entirely fictional characters. I set up the medal winners and some other competitors in several (but not all) sports across six male divisions, from featherweight to heavyweight. I opened the UFC in 1989 with a roster of 180 fighters - 30 per division with a quality range of average to world class.

I've turned off fighter generation, instead opting to introduce new sets of fighters manually every year or two. I imported the Xtreme Fighting League (XFL) in January of 1993 and ran them into the ground with debt until they eventually accepted a takeover attempt near the end of 1994. I keep the UFC limited to the top 30 fighters in each division, with all other fighters being filtered through local shows or the XFL as they attempt to earn their way into the UFC. I try to keep all UFC fighters as active as I can with each fighting three times per year whenever possible. The one key exception here is pound-for-pound king "The Monster" Maximus Mack, who prefers to fight at least 6 times each year and is always willing to go on short notice to make that happen.

Prior to the start of XFL I was able to import a dozen world caliber fighters in 1990 and leave them unsigned so they'd compete in the 1992 Olympics. I would love to continue to have Olympic athletes in '96, '00, etc, but now that XFL exists I can't think of a way to keep world class fighters unsigned/available for long enough to pursue Olympic glory. Even when only signed to standard contracts they seem to have zero interest in the Olympics. I wish we had a way to add achievements to existing fighters after a game has started so I could assign medals the way I did with the first batch. It would also be super cool to have more interaction with the Olympics and other championships. Even with their current limitations, the Olympics and other championships really help flesh out the stories and create a greater sense of immersion. I might be especially fascinated with this aspect since the US Olympic training center is less than a mile from my house. Hahaha.

Anyway, we're down to the last few cards of 1995 as we near completion of our 7th year, and the first watch over the budding sport of MMA is reaching the point where the rising stars threaten to change the guard for good. Remarkable outliers have risen to the top of most divisions and made amazing runs defending their titles, but now may be the time when they start to slip into the shadows as the new blood from the 1992 Olympic Games showcases their even greater and more well-rounded talent.

George "The Giant" Gumble (31-4), the 1988 kickboxing gold medalist, used his powerful strikes and well-rounded MMA game to maintain an iron grip on the heavyweight crown, defending the title 14 times over two reigns. The one loss during that time, which came by way of controversial split decision, was immediately avenged by brutal KO. In the final card of 1994 he lost the title by dominant unanimous decision to the 1992 pankration bronze medalist "Thunderbolt" Darryl Vedder. Denied his request for an immediate rematch, the UFC instead (somewhat cruelly) paired Gumble against the 1992 karate gold medalist "Robocop" Benji Radebe. After a back and forth battle that saw both fighters hit the deck, Gumble succumbed to TKO via strikes in round 4. Given a rebuilding fight against a relatively soft touch in +950 underdog Lewis "Unpredictable" Burton, Gumble shockingly lost via rear naked choke in round 5 after controlling the fight for the first 4 rounds. Burton, meanwhile, certainly lived up to his nickname. Will Gumble, who is still only 29, rebound and make another run at the title? Or is this the beginning of the long descent into obscurity for the UFC's first heavyweight champ? Only time will tell.

Jiu jitsu master Juanito "Jaguar" Jones (34-5) amassed a total of 10 defenses over two reigns, separated by three years in the middle during which "The Monster" wreaked havoc upon any contender brave enough to climb into a cage with him. Jones, who lost to Mack 3 times during that reign, was the only one to truly give Maximus a competitive challenge in the cage. "Jaguar" has shown remarkable tenacity against the featherweight division's biggest hitters, getting clipped and looking nearly done on several occasions, only to come roaring back to secure victory by way of submission. But while Jones was making what was expected to be his 8th consecutive defense against "The Beatle" Bartleby Bach (whom he'd already defeated twice), he got dropped in round 2 by a beautiful head kick and for once could not manage to mount a comeback. He regained the title by 5th round KO in a great rematch 4 months later, but then he met up with rising 1992 Olympic alumni Kinzo "Ninja" Arita and got obliterated by a ferocious assault of strikes in a little over 1 minute. Now in a similar position to former heavyweight champ Gumble, the still-just-28-year-old Jones looks to rebuild his career and see if he can mount another run at the featherweight title.

Thiago "Smash" Santos (32-5) was on a remarkable run of 8 consecutive lightweight title defenses before "The Monster" moved up from featherweight and did what monsters do. Seen by many as Juanito Jones 2.0, Santos quickly smashed nearly every title contender on more than one occasion during his 3+ year reign. He was expected to give Mack his greatest challenge to date, but instead "The Monster" haunted Santos' nightmares during all four of their fights. 3 years after initially losing the title to Mack, after Mack moved his way north to welterweight, Santos was the favorite in the 8-man grand prix held to determine the new lightweight champ. But instead of meeting up with one of the 1992 Olympic alumni in the finals as expected. "Smash" got strangled via 2nd round guillotine at the hands of former rival Jim Jardine, the tough-as-nails freestyle wrestler against whom he'd previously defended the title twice. Having rebounded with a dominant victory over a lower-top-20 contender, one more rebuilding fight is all that stands between Santos and an early 1996 title rematch he so desperately craves.

Middleweight and light heavyweight have been a bit of a different story. In those two divisions we've seen games of musical chairs continue to play out for years as one top fighter after another takes their brief turn atop the throne. Though no title reign has lasted more than two defenses to date, the high level of competition has led to a ton of "great" and "fantastic" title fights, with even a couple "excellent" battles along the way.

Light heavyweight has seen 9 different champions over the past 7 years, with Hector "He-Man" Hugo and Jack "Man of" Stone each having held the title twice during that span. The middleweight title has been wrapped around 5 different waists during that time and has seen a surprisingly large number of repeat champions. "The Juice" Ronnie Richards has captured the title on 4 occasions, while "Public Enemy" Wade Whitworth, "King Arthur" Arthur King, "Titan" Michael McMahon, and Carter "The Leprechaun" Conklin have each held the title two separate times. Now the rising stars of the 1992 Olympic Games are nearing the tops of those divisions and seeking to change the patterns of the past.

The greatest current rivalry in the sport is between pound-for-pound king "The Monster" Maximus Mack and #2 PFP "Lights Out" Leonard Lawson. The two competed in legendary sparring sessions during their time at the Olympic training center and only avoided a heated battle in the trials because they chose to compete in different weight classes. Mack went on to do the unthinkable by winning gold in multiple Olympic sports. Lawson, meanwhile, had to "settle" for "only" a gold in wrestling.

Mack, a freakishly tall and shredded multi-art stylist from Colorado, has raced out to an astounding pro record of 46-0, dominating all viable competition in the featherweight and lightweight divisions as he defended the titles 13 and 17 times, respectively. Now he sits atop the welterweight throne, having freshly separated Lawson from the title (and his senses). Lawson, a Philadelphia native who specializes in jiu jitsu to aid his obvious wrestling pedigree, compiled a record of 33-0 and fought every viable contender more than once as he defended the welterweight title 15 times before being paired against his nemesis in their fateful title clash.

After getting knocked out in round 2 of the "fantastic" and dynamic battle with Mack, Lawson finally gave in to nature and allowed his large frame to expand to middleweight in pursuit of a title in a second weight class. Citing the weight cut as the primary factor in his loss to Mack, "Lights Out" swears he will one day avenge his loss. Whether that means going through one more brutal cut to welterweight or waiting for Mack to make an unprecedented jump to a fourth weight class remains to be seen. Regardless, their long history and the explosive results of their first pro fight have fans salivating at the thought of a potential rematch down the road.

In my historical game using globalverse fighters I'm having Pam O'Neill at 30-0 which is insane. Never had anyone else win that much except Kapur, though the latter actually dominated his division. There are no more contenders left at BW and she's in a training camp with her friends Holmes and Ebisawa so we can forget about those matchups.
