What's Going on in Your Game?

Cool, tell more about your promotion.

Thanks, man.

I don't like to play as existing companies so I create small ones and try and build them up. It's set in 2001, the Fall of American Pro Wrestling. Mikey Whipwreck goes into business with Rob Zombie to create Pro Wrestling Zombie but they fall out about two years in. Mikey goes off to form NY Fight Club, a small company based out of Brooklyn, NY.

I'm in 2006 now. The summer event Last Of Our Kind had the big title change as Sting finally beat Randy Orton for the NYFC Heavyweight Championship. In a cage match. at 47 years old.

Champions:

NYFC Heavyweight: Sting

NYFC Anarchy (think X Div.): Jack Evans

NYFC Tag Team: Rad Warriors (Paul London and Scorpio Sky)

NYFC Hardcore: Abyss

King Of New York (yearly tournament like KOTR): Eddie Kingston

Body Count (yearly battle royale): Randy Orton

Phil Vibert (user character) returned to wrestling to form World Championship Wrestling (so creative) with a MASSIVE amount of money. The only big "gets" were Jay Chord and Sammy Bach jumping ship to be the cornerstones of this new promotion.

Only 7 months in, and a lot has happened:

- WCW Nitro on NCTV.

- The intial roster was all unemployed people besides Sammy Bach, Jay Chord, Fro Sure, & Papa Swoll.

- Fro Sure, renamed Reggie Wilds, and Big Papa Swoll teamed up as the Street Kings and began a rise in the tag team division.

- WCW World Heavyweight title, WCW World Cruiserweight title, and WCW World Tag Team titles are the starting championships. With the WCW Royal Rumble and WCW King of the Ring as annual competitions.

WCW Royal Rumble 2020

WCW World Heavyweight Championship - WCW Royal Rumble: Jay Chord wins to become the first champion, last eliminating Sammy Bach!

WCW World Tag Team Championships - WCW World Tag League Final: Savage Fury (Java & Tribal Warrior) defeated Street Kings (Reggie Wilds & BP Swoll) to become the first champions.

WCW World Cruiserweight Championships - Ladder Match: Rockin Ryan Turner defeated Happy Elwood, Harry Allen, Stan Manna, Raphael & Flash Savage to become the first champion.

- Other notable guys on the roster are Joffy Laine, Chris Caulfield, Doug Peak & Quentin Queen. I also started with a lot of the "established" free agent teams like The McWade Brothers, Dirty White Boys & Death Row and used them to get the Street Kings over. Joffy Laine has has the most sustained singles push of anyone.

- Stan Manna turned on Rockin' Ryan Turner out of jealousy after Turner had won the Cruiserweight title.

WCW No Way Out 2020

WCW World Heavyweight Championship - Cage Match: Jay Chord retained over Sammy Bach

WCW World Tag Team Championship: Savage Fury retained over the Dirty White Boys

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship: Stan Manna defeated Rockin' Ryan Turner to win the title. Jonah Pilgrim debut as a lackey to Stan Manna to help him win.

WCW WrestleMania 2020

WCW World Heavyweight Championship - 30-Minute Iron Man: Sammy Bach defeated Jay Chord to win the title.

WCW World Tag Team Championship - Tables Match: Street Kings defeated Savage Fury to win the titles.

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship - Ladder Match: Stan Manna retained over Rockin' Ryan Turner, Harry Allen & Raphael

- Outside the championships, Chris Caulfield & Doug Peak were around and feuding with some younger guys to try and get them over. Quentin Queen was supposed to have a lengthy run with Caulfield but got injured so I dumped all resources into getting Laine over by singing anyone semi-over to 1-shot deals and jobbing them out and having an over arching feud with Doug Peak.

WCW Backlash 2020

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Sammy Bach retained over Java

WCW World Tag Team Championships: Street Kings retained over McWade Brothers

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship - Guitar on a Poll: Stan Manna retained over Rockin' Ryan Turner

- Jay Chord got momentarily sidetracked in a short program with Chris Caulfield.

WCW King of the Ring 2020

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jay Chord defeated Sammy Bach to win the title. Ernest Youngman debut helping Chord

WCW King of the Ring 2020: Joffy Laine defeated Chris Caulfield to win the first ever KotR.

WCW World Tag Team Championships: Street Kings retained over Savage Fury

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship: Stan Manna retained over Rockin' Ryan Turner

- King of the Ring winner, Joffy Laine, receives a WCW title shot of their choosing. Basically Money in the Bank. I did accidentally run the KOTR tourny a month early. I just forgot Judgement Day existed. So I had to swap the events at the last second. lol.

- Jay Chord forms "The Era" with Ernest Youngman, his personal hired hand. A group dedicated to this era being Jay Chords and him using his influence to try and stay on top.

- Rockin' Ryan Turner won back the WCW World Cruiserweight title on an episode of Nitro in a match where if he lost he'd quit music forever.

- Newer stars starting to pop up (trying to get them over is annoying) with Aldous Blackfriar (as Aldous Black), Marvel Malloy (as Dean Marvel) & Storm Spillane (as Keith Storm) begin to make some small waves. Most established guys I dont intend to use leave around now, basically the old tag teams & Doug Peak who have basically just been jobbing on the lower cards to try and get others over.

- Nelson Callum is signed from PSW. He's beginning a long slow feud with Chris Caulfield which will likely be Caulfield's last hurrah before I try and make him a road agent.

WCW Judgement Day 2020

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jay Chord retained over Joffy Laine

WCW World Tag Team Championships: Street Kings retained over Savage Fury

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship: Aldous Black defeated Rockin' Ryan Turner to win the title.

- "The Erasers" of Keith Storm & Dean Marvel join Jay Chord's era. The former American Cobras.

- USPW let Running Wolf leave which is huge for me. I didnt expect to get someone of actual value, so I'm not 100% sure what I want to do with him. He debut as WCW Fully Loaded and won a random triple threat. I made the whole show triple threats for no reason.

WCW Fully Loaded

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jay Chord retained over Sammy Bach & Joffy Laine

WCW World Tag Team Championships: The Erasers defeated Street Kings & Savage Fury to win the titles.

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship: Aldous Black retained over Rockin' Ryan Turner & Stan Manna

- Having Running Wolf fall on may lap is nice, though I'm not a huge fan. So I dont really know what to do with him. I think he might slot into have a 3-4 month program with Jay Chord to give Chord/Bach a break so I can have them main event the next WrestleMania (again).

- The Era is the typical heel group, with Youngman helping Jay Chord win basically all his matches and The Erasers helping now too. Youngman actually hasnt had a big feud yet. He's likely going to move into a lengthy program with Sammy Bach to build Bach back up for the Royal Rumble (to win) and eventually next WrestleMania.

- Between Nelson Callum, Joffy Laine & Ernest Youngman I have a nice trio of good young workers to build up. I wish I could bring in the secondary belt for them, but I just dont have the roster size to accommodate that right now.

- I need to rebuild the tag team division as the only 3 "real" teams are Street Kings (30), Savage Fury (100) & The Erasers (100). I signed Kamikaze & Jayson Van Pelt (23) to use as a team or in the cruiserweight division. I slapped together the tag team of Happy Elwood & Drop Kix (12). Raphael & Flash Savage (18) also have been teaming a lot lately.

- The Cruiserweight division is also a bit of a pickle. Like the Heavyweight division its been basically a 2-pony show between Turner & Manna. Blackfriar is a third guy who is now part of the fold, but trying to round out the division is kind of difficult. I feel I need people who can work & talk and sadly thats not a lot of cruiserweights. I may go pure X-Division style high spot with the division allowing me to slowly transition it to people like Kamkaze & JVP, but I'm not sure yet.

NICKMAN'S INVASION - WEEK 1, JANUARY 2002

So I've finally gotten around to booking the first WCW Nitro and WWF Smackdown! for the new year in TEW2020. The game seems to have converted quite well and is playing nicely. Only thing I've had to do is edit a few of the popularities to align with my save (especially a lot of my development guys who needed to be edited DOWN).

So here we have the first Nitro:

20020101.png

What happened at the start of the show here, Austin wanted his rematch for the WWF Championship, but Nash and Hogan "swapped" world titles. Bischoff tells him this means he no longer gets a rematch as Nash is no longer the WWF Champion.

And Week 1 January Smackdown!...

20020104.png

Like he did with Starrcade, Bischoff wanted to cancel the Royal Rumble and replace it with Souled Out, but Linda McMahon informed him that as one of the "Big Four", Bischoff is contractually obligated to hold the Royal Rumble. Later in the night he books Austin vs Crash as the Main Event, to basically show how crappy the WWF is in comparison to WCW.

Unfortunately, both these shows feel a bit aimless as I refamiliarise myself with the save and head towards the Royal Rumble. I know where I eventually want to go with the Rumble/WrestleMania X8, but getting there I'm still a bit unsure of.

Happy to take any suggestions along the way...

NICKMAN'S INVASION - WEEK 1, FEBRUARY 2002

Ok, so after another strong loss of motivation, I've FINALLY gotten around to picking this one back up and booking the Royal Rumble.

20020128-RR.png

Next stop, the Road to Wrestlemania where a final showdown between WWF and WCW is set to take place! Who will finally win the war??

I imported over 2016's Rising Storm mod as I'm still not sure if a 2020 version has been released, and my major self imposed rule is only hiring unemployed talent until I reach the point where I can sign workers to written contracts, then anyone is free game at that point. I only hire/fire workers, set tag teams, and create storylines. So here are the champions the AI has provided me and the tag teams/storylines I can make out of the AI's booking;

Sacramento Wrestling Federation Heavyweight: Yokozuna

SWF California: Hurricane Helms

SWF Tag Team: The Sumo Duo (Yokozuna and Rikishi)

Tag Teams

Booker T and La Parka (feuded at first, teamed up later)

The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley)

Los Loco Luchas (Super Crazy and Psicosis)

The Sumo Duo (Yokozuna and Rikishi)

Storylines

Al Snow vs Booker T

The Sumo Duo vs Los Loco Luchas

Hayabusa vs Road Dogg (I might team them up, the AI decided to recently tag them up even with a storyline against each other and they have been getting good grades)

Just got to my first event with my "touring" company in the US.

My opener blew everything out of the water (Chris Amer vs Suzanne Brazzle), but given the narrative I am working on, I rolled with Caulfield vs Texas Pete as my main event. Still a good match.

Next tour is a round robin tournament. This year's winner becomes World Champion. I think future years I will treat it as my Royal Rumble and have the winner get a title shot at my Q1 big event.

Then an up and comer event with invites to some great workers in the indies. Title shot good for a year. Depending on the results, I might have him cash in after after the Q1 main event. Or maybe I will have one of the people from another fed hold the title shot and have him go up against the champ in the summer or something. Now I just have to script out that round robin tournament so that there is some intrigue and it's not just one guy running away with it.

In Week 3 of March 2020 building towards TCW Battleground.

Greg Gauge is hosting an open challenge every TV and every PPV with a different challenger each week until he loses the title. I tend to bring in a lot of guys on one night deals or short PPA's to facilitate this. He's retained vs guys like Razan Okamoto, Bunrakuken Torii, Loxley Robbins, Matt Hocking etc. Lots of varied talent but his best defence came at last PPV where he retained in a 78 rated match vs Remmy Skye. This may secure Skye a contract here. Solid consistent matches, just like Cody irl, with an array of talent. This has earned him a shot vs World Champion in a special exhibition 'Champion vs Champion' to headline Battleground. His pop has risen 10 points in the last 2.5months and a main evebt PPV vs AA should up it some more. They'll go a while but he'll fall short to show he's not quite at the ME level... yet.

Sammy Bach is in decline but the starting feud with Jay Chord is $$$ as Chord is just excellent all-round. They met in the opener of last months PPV in a 2 out of 3 falls match which Chord took 2-0 due to underhanded tactics and outside interference from Memphis King (Tennessee William). The two have formed an alliance (I'm a huge William fan so want to get him over) and have proven a real thorn in the side of Bach so he called on some help from an old friend... Jack Bruce (my UC).

The self-proclaimed Gods of Rock and Wrestling are united in taking down Chord and co. but the numbers on both sides have grown. Chord also has The Ring Generals w/Eric Tyler in his corner and the Rock Gods have Youngman and DWN w/Sam Keith backing them. It'll be 4v4 at Battleground to build the rivalry and continue getting 5 new stars over in the process as well as elevating Chord to a true Main Eventer. It's a lot of work but it's paying off!

Hawkins has backed off the title chase knowing he has a shot at Total Mayhem in his back pocket anyway and so has recently engaged in a mini-feud with Edd Stone which resulted in an 87 rated match at last months PPV. The feud continues to Battleground as The Syndicate will do battle vs Stone and friends (Recently debuted Loxley Robbins, Dazzling Dave Diamond and a returning Texas Pete). Stone recently formed an alliance/mutual respect with Joshua Taylor and he'll face Hawkins in singles action at Battleground after coming up short kn his title challenge vs AA last PPV in the MOTN.

Eddie Peak has been a thorn in the side of Mighty Mo and antagonising him at all turns. Peak beat Mo last PPV thanks to an assist from a debuting Doug Peak. He joins the Sinner Society. They'll go 4v4 against Mo and his 'Best Friends' at Battleground.

Mighty Mo, Tana, T-Bone and Wes Wonderful (Fro Sure) vs Eddie & Doug Peak and The Behemoths.

Shark and Titan lost the tag titles last PPV to T-Bone and Tana and so are keen for revenge here.

There's other stories including an alliance and tag team between Troy Tornado and Matt Hocking (fighting for Laura's attention on the sidelines) after Freddy Huggins broke his neck at our January PPV. It's been a hell of a save so far. A lot of fun.

Started a new save in the 1997 mod for TEW2020 and it is going pretty well. Fell to Medium for a bit of a challenge/trying to push Sid as a main event player, this brought me back down to reality. Goodbye Sid in like 4 months and welcome to me try to balance a Austin push/Pushing new main eventers. Not a great Mania, but the plan is to get to January of 2000 and I'm more worried about building more stars earlier.</p>

Dreadnought (trying the Goldberg push per another thread) scored my first ever zero rated match</p><p> </p><p>

The Crippler vs Angry Gilmore was my best match ever (83, prev best was 73 in a 6 man tag also featuring the crippler 2 months prior and he is in all 5 of my top matches, but has never held a title and is not in current plans to get one soon.)</p><p> </p><p>

I scored my best show ever (73, prev was 69)</p><p> </p><p>

I thought this would do it, but I must still be a tenth or two from Medium. 53-58 throughout the US.</p><p> </p><p>

Lots of people are taking on proteges which is nice. Often have 1-2 people benefit from that per show.</p><p> </p><p>

Bash continues to get put over like crazy. Benson just completed his promise to put him over, after Pablo Rodriguez, Doc Hammond, Clark Alexander all offered and did the same. The last one as of now is Angry Gilmore, but I have 5 months on that one.</p>

Even with the 0 rated match you had the highest rated show. Depending on the match focus I guess a single match does in fact matter very little.

Question - when you have these promises, do you put the guy over clean? Protect/Keep Strong the guy who offered to put him over?

The 0 was actually pre-show, which helped. Wanted to give him 5 matches or so to develop some skill before going on air. Plus I think Goldberg had 4-5, so it's similar. This was match 2 (match 1 was a 16)

As for the promises, it varies. It depends for me on what the difference in ratings is (i.e. Gilmore is 73, I'm not going to have him take a hige hit losing that match clean any time soon) and what plans I have for the other person, as well as how many matches.

Running through the list...

Clark Alexander offered 3 matches. I did a tainted win with protection, a regular win with a beatdown after to give a reason for a grudge match. I then gave Clark one back in a tag that Bash stayed strong and the other guy lost, and then did a clean win for bash to end the feud. Bash went from 38 to 42 (Clark dropped from 49 to 45)

Pablo and Doc were near the same time. Pablo was just one and I think it was tainted because he was 50 (stayed 50). Doc gave 2, one was a tag upset that lead to the main match, which was clean and had a good buildup. Doc dropped from 58 to 53, where he sits now. Bash went from 42 to 46.

Elmo gave him one, which was clean, and he stayed at 56. Bash increased to being mostly 50 and will soon likely go over Chris Flynn for the title (still debating as I have more over people, but storyline wise tihs makes since and builds him for the future). Flynn is 59 currently. As long as his matches aren't terrible, he'll have a decent reign while he learns to sell for an eventual loss.

Prior to this, I actually hired Bash on a 3 month deal to pass some pop in a lost feud with Greg Rayne (rayne man), who went from 31 to 40, with Bash dropping from 40 to 36. I only kept him when everyone wanted to put him over, figure maybe he's my Hulkamania. Signed him exclusive for 10 before collecting on the promises.

One issue is he's 23 and already half way to getting health penalties, though he is a death match wrestler, so maybe pre fame matches took a toll. His stuff with me has been tame.

<p>Awesome! I have what I consider the snark team of Peter Michaels (user character/owner/announcer) with Phil Vibert and Joanne Rodriguez.</p><p> </p><p>

It is gimmicky, but I alternate events with a segment with Vibert and someone or J-Ro and someone and treat it as a segment from their podcast being used to further characters. I am sure you could do the same with Bruce, like a King's Court segment.</p>

Trying to simultaneously build Dreadnought, James Diaz, and Texas Hangman is proving difficult. Hangman has gotten a couple squashes, but that's it. Diaz is tagging with Billy Russell, and Dreadnought is getting squashes but is about to get his first major storyline.

Almost at the end of Q1 with my touring NXT promotion (lots of WCW, WWE and NXT event names). Once I get to the end of that I amy start a dynasty.

what I'm trying to build up Dreadnought as a Goldberg type is to make the storyline the streak. I've forgotten a few, but I've been adding his opponents into the story so that he gets momentum off of it. I also have another worker that will be his first minor test beating some of the same workers to get momentum before they face off.
