General Gameplay Questions Thread

What constitutes a "short" angle? I'm looking at booking a Fast And Furious product and curious whether the penalties for angle length mean I can never use an angle that could reach 100 because the "short" designation kicks in before the rating-cap is lifted, if that makes sense.

I can't say i looked though 80+ pages for the answer but here is the question. Can you have the AI book specific match types at events. Using WWE as an Example TLC, Elimination Chamber. Could i mod the AI to run this match during the show

Unfortunately, you can't do specific match types, but you can make sure the WWE runs a Royal Rumble, the main event is a 1vs1 (or a 1v1v1v1, etc.), have all title defended, or have it be all-male or all-female matches.

Booking RAW I’ve had a 100 rated angle with Swoop McCarthy in an 8 minute angle if that helps

Just looking at RAW's product, I don't think it has that "Fans will expect short angles" (paraphrased) note that the Guerrilla Warfare / Fast and Furious products do. I'm just wondering if I can still book a, say, 5-6 minute angle (which I believe would be eligible to get 100) for those products without penalty or if all angles would have to be under 5 minutes and thus ineligible to get a 100 rating.

Right. Ok, that makes sense

I am also wondering: when you have a company with a core product (say, SWF with it's Attitude product) and then start a brand within that company with a different product (Guerrilla Warfare) are the show ratings tabulated using the product of that brand or the company as a whole?

I was hoping the 75:25 in-ring/pop split of Guerrilla Warfare would be good for a developmental show full of no-namers (who can wrestle quite well) but it doesn't seem to score any differently than it would with the original SWF product.

Just trying again, though I know it's not even out yet so maybe I'll have to try both and figure it out haha.

Also, if I went weekly event could I also have a B show? I can't remember if you need to have an A show before you can get a B show.

I'm honestly wondering this. Having just run a game as a small company with a weekly TV show with dire attendances and poor income, I wonder if events (which seem to double attendance) would be a better direction. It feels like cheating. I can run events on the same length and on the same broadcaster... with no drawback? Might give it a go.

What bummed me out about the game is that I didn't get any tv revenue. Granted I was on an internet commercial station getting only 50,000 viewers a week, but I negotiated for 45% of the revenue. Were there zero advertisers? No idea it it's a bug or just a weak show, or if I'm missing something.

Luckily I survived off of my own gigantic natural sponsors. Episodic Entertainment brings in local businesses.

Thanks Jaded.

Something else. When I use an angle, say, "Save From 2-on-1 Attack", for example. I'm getting the comment that says the fact that nothing interesting happened is a problem.

What is this evil new addition, and how do I make a action-orientated angle interesting for my fickle fans?

Whether it's televised or not, events are considered 'major' so your 'canny operator' types will give their all, as opposed to TV which is always considered minor (with regard to worker effort). That might have budgetary and/or backstage implications.

This is why it's not always the best idea to just create a weekly event on your (non-PPV) broadcaster.

Have you tried this, Remi? I've had a significant number of people holding back on some of my events running a constant schedule.

If you sign someone to a non-exclusive written deal with an ironclad clause, can they be stolen? I'd assume not, but I was wondering if anyone knew for sure.

From what I understand, if the person isn't exclusive, they can be stolen. And in previous patches, people noted not being able to counteroffer (because it's a written contract and you can't renegotiate those until 28 days prior to them elapsing). Don't know if that's still the case though. I would think that a written contract with an ironclad clause would mean the worker is stuck with you until the contract expires, at which time they'd go work for the other company and leave your employ.

I haven't since patch 8 but was the event televised at all? I'm wondering if that makes a difference. I had a match between Danielle Sweetheart and Christina Charlston (both canny operators) and no dirt sheet note about them holding back. 16 minute match (17 min segment total), called in ring, slow build.

That's disappointing if true. I really just want to be able to sign people and not worry about them being stolen, while also allowing them to work for other companies to get experience. I'm starting a game with only young workers, and I don't want to have to choose between hamstringing their growth and risking losing them once I get big enough.

Everything was internet PPV, running a constant schedule. I wasn't getting them on all matches but was getting holding back notes on a fair few. It MAY have been related to physical condition but I had three brands so people weren't generally getting too worn out. One thing I did notice was that it tended to happen to everyone in a match, often tag matches. (Some of these were probably storytelling road agent notes, but there were others which didn't have notes I'd expect to get that feedback for.)

When booking a card, is there a way to move the matches around without clicking the arrow, moving to the next line, clicking the arrow again, moving to the next line, clicking the arrow again, etc? Last I played I think was TEW2013 but I seem to remember being able to drag and drop the matches in the order I wanted after setting up the card.

Do you suffer the "show featured [insert worker] too much" penalty when doing that, though?

If not, it would actually be nifty to use that to simulate stuff like the Faces of Foley, or jobbers who worked multiple times a night (like Disorderly Conduct, who were also the Texas Hangmen in WCW), or (not that many would, but I dip my toe in every once in a while) GLOW where some of the ladies played multiple roles/gimmicks (the Heavy Metal Sisters were also The Housewives and The Hoodlums).

I haven't tried it enough or with jobbers to see if I that comment.

I'm sure I read in the journal that this feature would be put in the game to be able to carry out those scenarios you suggested and also to help with small companies having smaller rosters, being able to have more wrestlers but only paying the once for someone being used twice.

I would imagine that it's not impossible to get a great graduate out of the lowest possible dojo but my guess is that you'd have to be pretty lucky for it to happen.

Is there a way to see which of your developmental guys are at a training facility? The only way I can tell is if I click to send them to the training facility and get a pop up that they are already there.

If you send them straight from the main roster to the training facility it says in their status box they are at the facility, but it doesn't if you send them to a developmental territory first.
