So much this. It's simply lack of familiarity with basic operations. Post-release, I'll get a groove worked out and I'll get back to being able to book shows in 5 minutes again.

Yeah, repetitiveness and knowing you can count on "X" worker to talk the talk, etc. The faster, easier, and more productive you'll be. Agree 100%. Still want the Data+ when you get around to it.

In what way does it take longer? I don't see a real difference

Mainly because I pre-book matches for most shows months in advance and then fill in the extra angles. So I have to spend eternity moving angles from place to place. Also the font is miniscule so I might miss out and typos and then have to redo the whole card again, because I can't save scum.

I like the filters staying on sometimes but it does occasionally take me off-guard a bit. I'd say maybe that's a feature that could use an On/Off toggle in the User Preferences. Can't have too many of those. Actually I wanna say the WMMA games had this toggle? I think it was called "Sticky Search" in that.

If you right click on the sear button it resets the filters

I have no idea how modders can have new skins out within a few days of the demo being released, but the graphics guy they pay can't even get a skin done to meet an already delayed release date. Especially when the game is getting delayed again because the new skin isn't ready. There seems to be a lot of stupid decisions being made.

you very clearly are unaware with the amount of work it takes to make a brand new skin as opposed to the recolourings that the modders here do (no disrespect intended, love all of the skins that come out).

anyways, here's hoping we get that thursday release still.

Well, if the UI itself has been altered like Adam has already shown us in screenshots, then the skin would have to be revamped and changed quite a bit to match the new UI. It's not just recoloring and shading all that like the modders have done (which they've done a great job of I should add.)

Hence why the patches have had those files we needed to put into our Skins folder, because a change in the UI meant a change in the layout of the skin.

If anything, the artist having so much work to do is almost certainly a positive. It means there's some changes being made.

A part of effectively hiring people is making sure they deliver. If Adam just hired some dude (no doubt talented) that would assure him he'd "get it done in 2 days" and then ended up failing to deliver because he's flaky or just disappears from the radar... That would suck even more. ;)

BIG props to the guys who stepped in and released that awesome skin so we could properly test the game (can't thank them enough), but it's unfair to blast the dude who got hired. He obviously has some history with Adam and probably got picked because he did the previous games. This time he might've dropped the ball but that's on the testing team for not noticing the flaws. He obviously had it done WAY ahead of time and fulfilled his end of the contract. And now he needs to probably redo his schedule to come back and save the game. He did what he had to do and got his work approved.

But it is what it is. Might as well wait a couple more days or a week. There's still aspects of the game I don't like and would like fixed before release.

I think some of this comes down to play style. For me, it's taking longer to book my shows because I like to book all my matches first and then add angles. This means I'm fiddling a lot with those arrows to move segments around. It's like a mini-game! Can I move this angle to the proper place in under a minute.

Further, the angles the game starts with were haphazardly imported from 16 without any care for the new angle rules. So, I end up using free style angles, which are more time consuming. (This will be fixed now that there are some good angle packs coming out or I create my own, but I haven't wanted to expend the time doing that on a game I'm not sure I want to buy yet.)

Finally, not being able to scroll through road agent notes with my mouse wheel slows me down. Fiddly stuff like double-clicking "Victor" resetting who I've selected from the drop-down. Basically, having to relearn screens in ways that aren't particularly intuitive. All that adds a lot of time to my booking.

Did you know you can click the little arrows at the top of the road agent screen and it cycles threw them in section, no scrolling needed

People saying that it taking longer to book a show is a problem - I've been seeing people say that about every single version of TEW since it was released. I know plenty of people who never gave up on EWR because they found their first experience of TEW 2016 was that it took them half an hour or more to book a show. Because they were doing it for the first time. So it's amusing to me now to see people pointing to TEW 2016 as an example of a streamlined, quick booking experience. It is that, because you've had years of experience of playing it, and TEW 2020 is a new game.

I do get the impression that some people were expecting "TEW 2016 1.5", and aren't prepared to allow for the slight learning curve of a brand new game.

Otherwise - I don't think people speculating about what the "testing team" did or didn't do is helpful in any way.

I totally agree with skummy it takes getting used to and once you get into a groove booking shows becomes second nature.

My main observation personally is some people have said things they would like improved constructively and some kind of sheep mentally has then set in with others just stating the game is broken or terrible without giving much basis to their claims

It feels like dammed if you do dammed if you don't thing too as now people are kicking off that it is taking longer to reskin parts of the game they desperately wanted changing..if he said right graphics aren't ready I'll release ui just the same it would be the same people playing hell so to speak

I'm personally looking forward to release

This has never happened before. I mean, maybe I'm just dumb and lack the required IQ to enjoy TEW 2020. Who knows. I've really tried, though.

IT took me ahile to book shows when i started, untill i started using the pre booking. I book all my matches and angles in the pre booking screen after the last show, so when i get to the day of the show i just add them to the booking screen. I am only on there about 2 mins before im running the show

Um, what? All the workers stats are right there on the screen when you are picking who to put in a match.

Yes because 'stats' are the only thing worth considering when booking a show. I'm also talking angles. If Felicia Luck runs into Sonnaz Shah backstage, what happens? Is it a Crips-Bloods in the 80s type of situation or does something a bit milder occur? I'm not doing anything substantive with the trial/beta so I can't just commit things to memory.

What I'm referring to are almost unconscious motions that come from muscle memory. In 16, I don't even have to think about where to go to find anything because once I think of what I'm looking for, I immediately go to it without a 'wait, where is...?' thought. I'm not there yet with 20 but I'll get there.

Exactly. We've been playing TEW2016 for 4 years. I can probably book an entire show without looking at the screen. Yeah it sucks that the UI changed but give me 3 months and I'll be able to book a show in 2 minutes with my eyes closed.

It took me 45 minutes to book a show jumping from EWR to TEW. It took 20 minutes to book a show from TEW16 to TEW2020. So your example here is wrong and doesn't prove anything.

"My experience is X" doesn't disprove "lots of people's experience is Y".

It's a criticism I have encountered for years of TEW, and was a key reason why the "EWR-like" options were introduced in TEW 2016.

These games have a learning curve. I can book a show in 2020 in pretty much the same time it would have taken me in 2016 now, if not quicker. I couldn't at first, because I was learning my way around the new system. The same as making the jump between any two iterations in the series - perhaps slightly moreso, as there have been some more significant changes here in terms of the Push system, etc..

I think a lot - not all - complaints in that regard have come from people who wanted TEW 2016 with a new lick of paint, rather than a brand new game.

Why do you feel the need to be so dismissive? I replied with a super dumb take to try and point out how flawed your viewpoint is but you don't look past it. It's getting annoying. Anyway I don't want this thread to become derailed with petty arguments and I know you have some books from the 1930's to read so I'm done with this.

I think there are a lot of UI issues, but I believe a large part of why it doesn't feel fun is that everything is so spreadsheety and small that nothing feels like an achievement. It feels like you're playing with SUM calculations in Excel.

You get a 100 rated match:

In '16

100

(GRADE: A)

In '20

100

Nothing pops. Nothing stands out. There's nothing to hide the fact that you're essentially playing with a spreadsheet.
