Major Selling Points of TEW 2020

Recommended Posts

<p>First, lets keep this positive. Please no complaining. Second, I will be buying TEW 2020 as soon as Adam will take my money!!!</p><p> </p><p>

What I am wondering is, what do you think are the best new game additions that make you immediately say, "I am definitely upgrading to TEW 2020! This addition to the game is a game changer for me!!"</p><p> </p><p>

Mine is something simple. I love being able to have more than three brands!!! Also, the idea of playing as a Developmental Territory is way cool. </p><p> </p><p>

How about you?</p>

Copying and pasting from the beta reaction thread because I wrote up my favourite stuff there.

Feds FEEL more unique now. I know the product system has been controversial, I can see the complaints people have, and if I was an RW player, or a more knowledgeable wrestling fan (I'd class myself as casual lapsed) I'd possibly have different views on it, but I love it. In 2016, booking SWF/USPW/RAW all felt relatively similar. In this game, looking at the match/angle focus, the lengths needed for things and what fans react to, they feel refreshingly different.

Attributes are fabulous and have the same effect for characters - now it's not just about stats, but do you try and ride the crest of someone who's flavour of the month? Is someone who's generally kinda broken down but is a giving performer more worthwhile than someone in better condition but who's selfish and eats his opponent up? And so many more things.

Similarly, on the fly booking is massive for me and makes things much more immersive - someone got injured in round 1 of a one-night tournament? Okay, call an audible, cancel his semi-final, and have an angle with him forfeiting. Announcers clash horribly? Time for a big strong heel to head down there and beat the heck out of one of them, removing him from the more important matches later on.

Talking to workers is really cool (although possibly overpowered in letting you get some excellent wrestlers at ridiculously low prices) - it's great to be able to persuade someone to move to a new area, or to put another wrestler over.

Improved indie shows are FABULOUS and I can't wait to see the long-term effect it has on wrestler's skills when people in smaller feds are also getting work on the indies regularly.

I know variance is another thing some people won't use, and again, playing RW I possibly wouldn't myself. As a dedicated CV (plus other fantasy mods) player, though, this makes games feel much more unique to me and hugely adds to replayability, especially on Extreme. (Analysis of just how much it changes here.)

Momentum system, now it's been patched to work properly, seems really cool.

Those are the key ones; a few more minor ones.

It's more immersive - social media stuff and wrestlers offering to put people over makes it feel more real, and can change my booking plans.

Changing match types from 1 vs 1 to 1 vs 1 ladder, 2 vs 2 to 3 vs 3, or so on, is a huge time saver. Of course, this is currently negated by the amount of time I'm wasting clicking horrifically small arrows to move a segment up or down the card repeatedly, but I can hope that that'll be changed...

Being able to automatically do different schedules is a huge time-saver for me - I need to check how it works with finances, but for the moment, I love being able to add a ton of shows to ACPW, my favourite fed, with one click.

Searching for tag teams is something I've wanted for over a decade and I'm ridiculously happy it's already in.

Booking analysis warning you about overused workers is a really nice add.

This definitely isn't me trying to claim the game is perfect - it's not, and Adam wouldn't have put it back unless he was planning on improving it significantly. The changes to the momentum system and to handling workers with popularity slightly bigger than a federation they work for in 2 of the most recent patches have already made a MASSIVE difference, looking at watcher games. I'm really grateful that people are bringing up issues because they're significantly more likely to get fixed now that they are if somebody mentions them in six months time. And I totally understand that things like products, which are a plus for me, may be a dealbreaker for some players.

But for me, that sums up why I don't think I could go back to 16 and enjoy it anywhere near as much now.

The rebalanced financial system is something that is hard to use as an actual selling point, but it's a big deal for me. Playing as a small company, not only are costs much more believable, it's also actually possible to make money instead of needing to go into debt and just hope you can claw your way back out before the bankruptcy timer runs out.

I've heard it sucks for modders, but as a player, the new gimmick system is great. It manages to have both depth and simplicity.

Although they might end up needing to be nerfed, it's great being able to make your own broadcaster as a small company without needing crazy amounts of money.

Playing as a developmental for sure is #1 given how much of an NXT mark I've been throughout 2019.

The new tournaments feature is a much needed addition too.

Aaaand the new stables feature is great.

And the new contracts system is a small thing, but makes the indie scene feel more real.

All of this and the below are big pluses for me.

- Cinematic matches

- The new gimmick system

- Pre-booking matches and angles to avoid slow ticket sales is a fun addition

- Adding India as a new game area

- Knowing this base game is going to get 2-3 years worth of improvements

- Being able to lock companies to specific locations. Now if you make a Detroit Wrestling for example you can guarantee their shows are booked in Detroit.

- Tag Team functionality is much improved for the A.I.

- Quick Fill and Adding new random workers to a database is so easy and intuitive

- Being able to talk to workers to convince them to get into shape or come to work for you in your region

- Asking workers to put someone over as well as them offering to put someone over

- And for true management sim stuff I love the addition of ticket prices and the new merchandise system. Being able to have someone with a fire gimmick get a boost to their merch sales is huge.

game balance is much better than 2016. I felt like I beat the game in the demo period just by running a show every day(after about a month).

Now it's easy to get workers over(5min angles,+beating workers more over plus keep strong to reduce pop losses) but it's hard to get good show ratings.

Promotion diplomacy and relationships might end up being my #1 by far when it’s all said and done. In general the AI seems much more vibrant and proactive. A bad booker can really kill the AI feds too. I found out when I left my SWF save and they were dropped in size inside of a month.

Gimmicks were something I hadn’t thought of much when it was announced, but the unique pros and cons give that side of the game much more life.

<p>here’s a list of things that i’m personally most excited for:</p><p>

new product system: like someone said above companies feel way more unique. companies in 2016 lacked any sort of identity. </p><p>

new gimmick system: it actually feels like you’re actively doing something instead of just choosing an arbitrary name from a list. the new pros and cons are amazing. </p><p>

cverse 2020: i didn’t get into cverse that much until the latter end of 2016s lifetime, but i’m SO excited to sink my teeth into cv 2020</p><p>

attributes: things like tag team specialist, explosive worker, etc are all gonna change the way you can book certain workers</p>

<p>For me I love almost everything about TEW 2020. It's way better than TEW 2016 and that version it's self is still great to me. It's really easier for me to state what I'm not happy about.</p><p> </p><p>

Really only one thing bothering me about TEW 2020 and that is the product section. Overall I like it and see it as an improvement over TEW 2016 but I think we should have a way of customizing products like we did in TEW 2016. One idea I had was maybe just have a product freestyle option where we could just book whatever we want. Everything else I was unhappy about has been fixed and patched (which wasn't much anyway).</p><p> </p><p>

If the product section is tweaked a little bit then I'd probably give the game an A+, if not then probably an A-.</p><p> </p><p>

So my favorite things about TEW 2020 would be: 1. Attributes 2. Gimmicks 3. Tag Team search option 4. Child companies and the fact that we can bring up or send down titles. (I would however, love to be able to bring up the title and title holder at the same time so it doesn't interrupt the title lineage) 5. Again, just want to say that I do like the product section mostly</p>

<p>The ability to play as my development company. </p><p>

The built in tournaments. </p><p>

The option to change booking as the show goes on.</p><p>

The option to own more than one broadcaster. (Unless you can in 16 and I just couldn't figure it out.)</p><p> </p><p>

To be perfectly honest I had intended to stick with 16 for a while but I was able to get my 2001 mod to a place that I'm happy with and there's nothing preventing me from switching to 20 whenever it becomes available for purchase.</p>

I think the overhauls to perception/pushes + some of the other things already mentioned here all contribute to making this version feel a bit more like an actual game. For me at least, that's going to give it a lot more staying power within an actual save.

I meant to add perception to my list of major selling points for TEW 2020. It just seems way more realistic to me. Honestly I'm still getting use to it but I love it.

Even though the two feds above are using the same product, they play really differently for me because in 21CW I can go with the reliable method of having one of the Cornells in the main and cutting promos and they'll carry the card at regular match focus. With the SWF on three-ring circus, it's a much more challenging way to book as I need three decent matches on the card.</p>

<p>I really like the new systems for products and gimmicks.</p><p> </p><p>

In TEW2016, I spent too much time tweaking styles emphasis to find a good product for me and assigning gimmicks to new workers.</p><p>

And the match/angle focus in product is a great addition.</p><p> </p><p>

EDIT : I also forgot the "worker promise" stuff.</p>

<p>I agree with most of what’s been already said. There’s plenty of great additions to the game. I feel a lot more immersed in the world that I’m playing than I did when playing tew 2016. I even like smaller things such as ‘other tv shows’ being a thing. If I play as wwe at a time when no other wrestling company is gonna touch me, then I at least have some kinda ratings competition going on. </p><p>

I can’t wait to give Adam my money. There’s years of gameplay in this game and over time it will on get better and better.</p>

One of the best things for me is the Merchandising. Being able to see a list of which wrestlers are making the most merchandising money adds a whole new layer to the game.

Gimmicks are also great now. The pro and cons really add an extra dimension to characters.

I'm on the fence about fixed products but I do agree that they make each company feel unique in a way that custom products wouldn't.

I love workers offering to put others over although I'm yet to get one to agree to it when I ask them, and noone has offered to put anyone over yet.

Overall, I think TEW2020 is leaps and bounds better than TEW2016.

I just want Adam to release the game now so I can do some long term game play

I'm not sure about you guys but my TEW 2020 load times are half the length of my 2016 load times! I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600x and spending about two-three seconds trying to read as much of a workers' loading screen bio before it'll jump to the next!

Worker attributes are a huge plus for me, if a biography doesn't do a character justice usually his attributes will give me a clear picture of how to mold him to my liking while still staying true to the lore. Additionally I'm loving the fluid roster pushes as it really gives me a sense that the game is alive and breathing from day to day. It seems to me that match and segment ratings are determined by a much more complex system with more dice in the cup being rolled. I'm having accidental breakout stars from pairing two guys together and the opposite wrestler moves up a perception level?! It's super hard to deny and I expect it'll lead to many saves going in unpredictable directions.

It also seems that the same two matches can get vastly different results based on what my product is, where on the card the match is placed, how far into his career each worker is and so on. I could play six months of 2016, have the same main event for every pay-per-view and roll wildly similar numbers each time. I understood how that system worked to a fault I think? I've always considered the sims that best hide the fact they're sims the best. It becomes very apparent that you're playing an interactive themed version of Microsoft Excel spliced with graphics when the game world feels more lively. These games will always be an interactive themed version of Microsoft Excel spliced with graphics, but it's never felt this alive! Not in my opinion, anyway.

Yes, load times are super quick for me with TEW 2020. Everything is seems instant. I never thought of TEW 2016 as being slow but this version is way faster. The only thing that takes any time at all is launching a new game and simulating the first 2 or 3 days and even all of that is really quick.
