Chris Hero is #AllElite

By Jim Valley | @jimvalley | Friday Week 1, August 2020 7:43 PM

The Wrestling Genius has come to All Elite Wrestling!

Chris Hero is renowned for his technical skills and for his vast knowledge of scientific wrestling. He has traveled the globe many times over honing his craft wherever he has gone. His addition to the already-stacked AEW roster will surely be met with praise.

Hero has won dozens of championships in his career, including the PWG World Championship, the EVOLVE Championship, the CZW Championship, among many others. He was also part of one of the best tag teams of the 21st century with Claudio Castagnoli, better known today as WWE’s Cesaro. The Kings of Wrestling as they were named ran roughshod across the American independent scene for years. They were even voted the Wrestling Observer’s Best Tag Team in 2010.

Chris Hero looks to make an impact in AEW, and will also serve as a coach for the younger talent in the company. Be on the lookout for some rolling elbows in the near future!

AEW Dynamite - Week 1, August 2020

iHpF2fO.jpg?2

AEW Dynamite

Rochester, NY

Wednesday Week 1, August 2020

Attendance: 3,134

<div style="padding: 10px; border: 8px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%; ";">

AEW Dark Results:

1. Ricky Starks & Pineapple Pete def. Anthony Bennett & Jimmy Yuta (25)

2. Hikaru Shida def. MJ Jenkins (39)

3. Jungle Boy def. Peter Avalon (45)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

1. Darby Allin def. Kip Sabian – Despite Sabian’s best efforts, and some interference from Penelope Ford, Darby Allin was able to secure the victory by pinfall with the Coffin Drop in 10:46. (61)

After the match, he grabbed a microphone and paced in the ring. After 10 seconds of silence, he rose the mic to his face and stated that he is accepting Taz’s challenge for him to face Brian Cage at All Out! He says he doesn’t need a manager. He knows what needs to get done, and he does it. He is relentless, and he will show Brian Cage that! Brian Cage vs. Darby Allin at All Out! (54)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Back from break, we get a small look into the wrestling training of Chris Hero. The Wrestling Genius works hard on his submissions and striking. He says that a match can end at any given moment. All it takes is one good elbow, or a mistimed punch rolled into an armbar. If wrestling is a science, then Chris Hero deserves a goddamn Nobel Prize. He is here to make a statement, and to prove that his style of professional wrestling is the ‘elite’ style. (32)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

2. Riho def. Anna Jay – Riho’s connection with the live crowd is nuts. Her comebacks and finishes get some of the loudest reactions of the night. That was no different here as she defeats Anna Jay in nine minutes with a Northern Lights Suplex! (28)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

We cut away from Riho celebrating to Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. Jericho is hyping up Sammy Guevara ahead of his match with Matt Hardy in the main event! Sammy’s bouncing up and down saying he can do it, he can do it, he can do it. Jericho is telling him yes! Yes he can! No one’s better than him, he’s the Spanish god! He’s gonna send Matt Hardy back to whatever dimension he came from! He’s gonna break Broken Matt so bad he’s gonna be fixed! At this point, Santana & Ortiz come into the frame and the three of them chant “SAMMY! SAMMY! SAMMY!” as Sammy does jumping jacks and douses himself with water. (70)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

3. Adam Page def. Shawn Spears (w/ Tully Blanchard) – One half of the AEW World Tag Team champions takes on The Chairman here. Tully tried his hardest to knock Page off of his game, but the Cowboy was focused on getting the singles victory here. And a victory he did get, with a Buckshot Lariat in 13:24. (70)

As soon as the bell sounded, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood slowly walked into the ring. They congratulated Hangman on his victory, and gave him a beer! Before they could toast, Kenny Omega sprinted in from the back. Omega got in between them and pushed Hangman back into the ropes. He pointed at his head to say that FTR is trying to get in Page's head. They aren't being friendly, they're trying to cozy up to him before All Out. Cash Wheeler walked towards them, but Kenny turned around and shoved him! Harwood and Wheeler talked quietly for a second with their backs to the champs, and Harwood handed Wheeler a beer to give to Kenny. When he turned back around to hand him the beverage, he was met with a V-TRIGGER to the face! Harwood saw this and went to punch Kenny, but Kenny ducked and Harwood almost nailed Hangman in the face but stopped! With those two face to face, Kenny hopped up onto Harwood shoulder's and hit a POISONRANA! Hangman looked pissed and pushes Kenny, who pushes him back! Hangman asked him what the hell he's doing and Kenny responded by reminding Hangman that their mind games aren't going to work on them!

What's up with Kenny? Did he do the right thing? Was FTR trying to befriend Hangman and drive a wedge between the champs? Did it work? Lots of questions...(65)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

We get a very brief video of the Dark Order, with their nameless spokesperson giving us a sales pitch:

"Are you tired of losing? Are you stuck in the shadow of your father? Do you want to step out of that shadow and become your own man? Together, we can change all of that. Experience freedom like you never have before. By joining us, you will become part of something...
bigger
. Grow your self-confidence, improve your mental state, and start becoming a winner. We will be your friends and your biggest supporters, because we believe that you have a place in this world.

Join us,
Austin Gunn
. Become the man you have always wanted to be." (50)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

4. Kris Statlander def. Bea Pristley by disqualification – The match was ended prematurely when Bea got tired of Statlander’s alien antics and grabbed a chair, smacking her across the back a multitude of times. The second DQ in the history of AEW was a violent one, with Bea refusing to stop. She continued the beatdown when… (45)

Riho ran down to the ring to try to stop Bea, but Bea took a swing at Riho’s head! Riho ducked and kicked Bea in the gut! Down to the ring came Nyla Rose, who took out Riho with a huge clothesline! Down came Hikaru Shida who just saw her friend get taken out! Nyla attacked her and laid her out with a powerbomb! That’s not all, as now Thunder Rosa sprinted to the ring and took on Nyla Rose! She kicked and kicked and kicked, taking the Native Beast down to one knee, before hitting a Shining Wizard! But before she could stand tall, Bea Pristley rose behind her and smacked her with the chair across the back! Bea Pristley stands tall over the five fallen women! (32)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

5. Santana def. Matt Jackson – One half of two outstanding tag teams clashed in what was a hell of a match here on AEW Dynamite! Each man had his partner at ringside, and it wasn’t long before all hell broke loose! Ortiz and Nick Jackson brawled on the outside of the ring TWICE, leading to referee Paul Turner throwing BOTH of them out! The finish came when Santana hit a superkick and fisherman’s driver on the Buck, before rolling him up and putting his feet on the ropes for a tainted victory! (71)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

6. AEW TNT Championship: PAC © def. Chuck Taylor – On paper, it would seem like PAC’s ferocity and violent style would make this match very one-sided. However, Chuck left his antics at home and had a phenomenal match with the champion! Chuck asked his Best Friend mates to remain backstage, determined to win the TNT title clean, fair and square. Although he did not win, his efforts here were definitely noted by the AEW crowd! (70)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

MJF came to the ring with Wardlow, this time checking his surroundings on the way to the ring. No smirk, no gum. In the ring armed with a microphone, he still was on edge. He brought the mic up to his mouth three times, but stopped before spitting outside a single word to whisper something to Wardlow, who looked around every direction each time.

Now certain he was alone, MJF was ready to speak. He repeated his conspiracy theory about the guys in the AEW office having a vendetta against him. Mimicking a man with a lisp, he said “MJF isn’t a good representation of this wrestling company.” He dusted off his shoulders to say that too bad, he’s taking what he deserves, and what he deserves is the AEW World Championship!

As soon as he finished that sentence, Jon Moxley’s music hit the PA system! MJF was scared as a dog and cowered behind his bodyguard. After thirty seconds, Moxley’s music got quieter and MJF looked confused. Moxley appeared on the screen, laughing at how scared MJF was! You should’ve seen his face! Moxley said he isn’t at the arena, and MJF should consider himself lucky for that, or he’d kick his ass just like he did last week. And Wardlow, be ready for next week, because he’s gonna kick his ass too!

Moxley said that come All Out, he’s going to do all of us a favor and shut MJF once and for all! (80)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

7. Matt Hardy def. Sammy Guevara – Sammy’s return match didn’t quite go as he would have liked, as he lost to Broken Matt Hardy by way of a Twist of Hate. Jericho was ringside and interfered a few times, most notably when he got on the apron to distract referee Bryce Remsburg so Sammy could low blow Hardy. Hardy kicked out and after 19:40 he was able to secure a victory. Jericho slid into the ring to go after the winner but Matt was able to duck and get out of harm’s way. (67)

Dynamite ends with Jericho cradling Sammy!

Awesome job everyone. It really makes me happy to see TEN predictions in two days. It makes it worth it to see the engagement among the readers :D

After the show I just posted, we only have THREE episodes of Dynamite left before the biggest show of the year, All Out. That show will be a TON of fun, trust me :)

AEW also has done a great job of making the episode of Dynamite after a PPV really special and noteworthy, which I intend on continuing. I have a HUGE plan for the Dynamite after All Out... that's all I will say about that ;)

AEW Dynamite Preview

Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, FL

Wednesday Week 2, August 2020

<div style="padding: 10px; border: 8px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:65%; ";">iHpF2fO.jpg?2

The rivalry between AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and MJF is heating up! After Moxley’s mind games with the entrance music last week, he will be in action in the main event against MJF’s bodyguard Wardlow! With just three episodes of Dynamite left before All Out, you can be sure that tensions are going to ramp up even more!

Not only that, but after Chris Jericho’s brutal attack with Floyd the baseball bat on Cody two weeks ago, causing him to lose the AEW TNT Championship to The Bastard PAC, Cody has been CLEARED to appear on Dynamite! Will their paths cross, or will Jericho cower away from The American Nightmare?

Six matches are on the card for tonight’s episode of Dynamite LIVE from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL. We also have word that there will be a special announcement regarding the to-be-determined AEW Women’s World Championship match at All Out! Champion Hikaru Shida has no clear #1 contender for her title right now!

Jon Moxley vs. Wardlow

Wardlow looks to weaken the AEW Champion before his match with MJF at AEW All Out in three weeks! MJF’s presence at ringside will almost certainly play a role here, but will it be enough to help Wardlow take down the champion?

The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho/Sammy Guevara/Jake Hager) vs. Matt Hardy & Private Party

Last week, Broken Matt Hardy defeated Sammy Guevara in the main event, and Jericho attempted to attack him after the match but he was able to get away. Now, a trios match has been signed between three members of Jericho’s Inner Circle and Matt Hardy and the team he calls his “spiritual successors,” Private Party!

Best Friends vs. Death Triangle

One trios match is not enough! We also have a match between two groups who have been at odds since February. AEW TNT Champion PAC retained his belt against Chuck Taylor last week, and also defeated Orange Cassidy back at AEW Revolution earlier in the year. A victory for Best Friends will give them their first win in this feud, so they will be TRYING extra hard here!

Penelope Ford vs. Riho

Penelope Ford’s last match was a loss against Hikaru Shida in a championship match at Fyter Fest. Now she looks to regain some momentum against Shida’s friend and former AEW Women’s World Champion Riho! A win for Riho will also surely push her higher up the rankings!

Mr. Brodie Lee vs. Pineapple Pete

The Dark Order has been on a roll lately, with their recruitment of Colt Cabana and their decisive victory in their feud with SCU. Mr. Brodie looks to continue his momentum here against Pineapple Pete, who himself looks to get his first win in AEW!

CIMA vs. Chris Hero

Stronghearts leader and underrated talent CIMA takes on The Wrestling Genius in what some hardcore fans would call a dream match! Two very skilled workers will go head to head for the first time ever!

Plus…

Cody makes an appearance!

The Young Bucks make an announcement!

Colt Cabana has something to say!

QUICK PREDICTIONS!

Jon Moxley vs. Wardlow

The Inner Circle (Jericho/Sammy/Hager) vs. Matt Hardy/Private Party

Death Triangle vs. Best Friends

Penelope Ford vs. Riho

Mr. Brodie Lee vs. Pineapple Pete

CIMA vs. Chris Hero

AEW Dynamite

Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, FL

Wednesday Week 2, August 2020

Attendance: 5,139

<div style="padding: 10px; border: 8px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%; ";">

AEW Dark Results:

1. Kris Statlander def. Shadia Bseiso (41)

2. Brian Cage def. Eddie Graves (45)

3. Colt Cabana (w/ Mr. Brodie Lee) def. Brandon Cutler (45)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Tonight’s action packed episode of AEW Dynamite is headlined by AEW World Champion Jon Moxley taking on Wardlow three weeks ahead of his showdown with MJF at AEW All Out! Other matches include The Inner Circle trio of Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager facing off against Matt Hardy and Private Party, and Riho and Penelope Ford in singles action! But first, another trios match with Death Triangle taking on Best Friends!

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

1. Death Triangle def. Best Friends – The opening contest saw incredible action among all six men. Orange Cassidy’s antics worked for him for awhile before Rey Fenix cut him off with a hurricanrana to the outside where he landed hard on his back. AEW TNT Champion PAC won the contest for his trio by hitting Trent with a Red Arrow for the pinfall. Death Triangle continues their hot streak, this time with a decisive victory over Best Friends! (73)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

A video package for FTR played, highlighting their tag team chemistry. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood have been a tag team for over six years now. They are a well-oiled machine, they are reviving the old-school tag team style. But Adam Page & Kenny Omega? They can barely get along. Miscommunication is everywhere, something that you will never see with FTR. It’s only a matter of time before the lack of trust between the champions will ultimately be their downfall.

And after Kenny's unprovoked attack on them last week? They are out for blood. Kenny has ruined any chance of a respectful contest, now it will be violent. (48)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

2. Chris Hero def. CIMA – Despite his best efforts, CIMA fell to the Wrestling Genius in 14 minutes. While CIMA’s talent and athleticism may have faired well for a minute, Hero’s knowledge of wrestling allowed him to slow down the smaller man and wear him down with holds and submissions before giving him a Facebuster for the win. (60)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

MJF and Wardlow were backstage preparing for Wardlow’s match against Jon Moxley. MJF handed Wardlow a water bottle and told him to down that son of a bitch before he handed him another. MJF spoke to the camera, saying that Jon Moxley will fall to his toughest opponent yet. Wardlow isn’t just a mindless monster like some other people Moxley has fought; he is one tough SOB with some brains behind him. And with MJF at his side, Wardlow will topple the AEW World Champion tonight. (83)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

3. Mr. Brodie Lee def. Pineapple Pete – A simple squash match, ending with a Discus Lariat. Poor Suge D. (48)

Post match, Mr. Brodie Lee brought his ringside acquaintance Colt Cabana into the ring. Mr. Brodie said that Colt Cabana has not lost a match since joining the Dark Order. The Dark Order rescues lost souls who have drifted out to sea and are wading in the ocean, biding time before a shark comes and eats them. But the Dark Order saves. He said that he has his eye on one young, talented, future superstar who just needs some direction. His name is Austin Gunn. Lee said that it’s time for Austin to step out of his father’s shadow, to ignore the teachings of a broken down old man, and to come with them. (51)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

The announcers spoke on the state of the women’s division. So many challengers, so little time to figure out the #1 challenger. AEW President Tony Khan has made the executive decision to book a six-way match at All Out for the AEW Women’s World Championship! Champion Hikaru Shida will take on Bea Pristley, Nyla Rose, Kris Statlander, Riho, and Thunder Rosa!

But first, next week’s episode of Dynamite will feature a three-way tag team match. It will be Bea Pristley & Nyla Rose vs. Hikaru Shida & Riho vs. Kris Statlander & Thunder Rosa! (30)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

4. Riho def. Penelope Ford – Riho’s talent is undeniable, as she took down her larger opponent for the victory in ten minutes here! (31)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

Backstage at the ShopAEW zone, Alex Marvez was with the Young Bucks! Nick spoke on his brother’s match tonight against Santana. The Elite and Inner Circle’s lives have crossed yet again. The never-ending tale of faction warfare. Nick said that the two groups will always be intertwined. One group helped formed All Elite Wrestling, and the other sought to destroy it from the very first episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT. Tonight, one-half of each group’s resident tag team will battle in a match that has a lot of bragging rights at stake. Matt reassured us that he will show that the Young Bucks, together or separate, are the BEST tag team in the world, no matter who holds the belts. (49)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

5. The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho/Sammy Guevara/Jake Hager) def. Matt Hardy & Private Party – The dastardly antics of the Inner Circle was the difference maker, as Jericho’s knowledge of wrestling rules and how to break them were too much for the much younger Private Party to handle. Matt Hardy was a bit more (Team) extreme tonight, with a much more youthful approach to the match. It wouldn’t be enough however, as fifteen minutes in Chris Jericho hit the Judas Effect on Marq Quen and pinned him in the center of the ring. (69)

After the three count, Jericho ordered his two partners to continue the beatdown on their opponents to send a message that the Inner Circle is still the best group in AEW, and that nobody can stop them. Before much damage could be done, down to the ring came Cody, Dustin Rhodes, and QT Marshall! The three of them chased off the Inner Circle and helped Private Party and Matt Hardy to their feets. Cody is seething at another wack at Chris Jericho after what he did to him two weeks ago. (59)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

In a dark room stood Brian Cage and his manager Taz. Taz talked about Brian Cage’s first match in AEW, the Casino Ladder Match at Double or Nothing. He came into the match as a surprise participant, and left the victor. During that match, Darby Allin tried to make a name for himself for doing some dumb things. Taz said that news flash kid, the “future superstar” may not have a future if he keeps killing himself every week. Darby should have listened to his advice. He was there for him, he tried to help. But Darby refused, and now Taz is pissed the hell off about it. Not only that, but his new client is something who can fix things that he doesn’t like. At All Out, Darby Allin better be ready, because the Machine is going to knock his teeth in! (49)

<div style="color:rgb(26, 26, 26);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(255,215,0);"></div>

7. Jon Moxley def. Wardlow – The main event did not disappoint, as Wardlow kept up with the champ throughout the entire match. Moxley got his ass kicked for over half the match. But he kept getting up over and over, even after Wardlow’s swanton. MJF’s role at ringside went as expected, constantly jawing with Mox and interfering wherever he could. MJF got on the apron and talked with Moxley while Wardlow was ready to charge for a clothesline. Moxley ducked, and Wardlow sent MJF flying off the apron and onto the hard floor outside. Mox followed this up with a Paradigm Shift for the victory. (71)

Jon Moxley smelled blood, and chased after MJF! MJF sprinted through the crowd and into the concourse, smacking popcorn out of people’s hands as he went. Eventually he got caught, and Moxley threw him into a dumpster! Moxley grabbed another garbage and dumped its contents onto MJF! MJF’s head popped out and he yelled “Wardlow! Wardlow!” over and over as the show went off the air! (79)

Another week of great predictions. Definitely a bit on the easy side, but as I said before, sometimes the best stories are the ones you know where they are going!

In other news, Dynamite is SO CLOSE to hitting 1 million viewers total. This week had 971,038. I think by the Dynamite after All Out we'll hit it.

Now, only TWO episodes of Dynamite left before All Out!

AEW Dynamite Preview

San Diego, CA

Wednesday Week 3, August 2020

<div style="padding: 10px; border: 8px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:65%; ";">iHpF2fO.jpg?2

AEW All Out is just TWO WEEKS AWAY! That means only two episodes of AEW Dynamite on TNT left before the biggest show of the year! Rivalries continue to grow, and the awesome talented pro wrestlers continue to flourish!

This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite is filled with incredible action, with AEW TNT Champion PAC defending the strap against SCU’s Scorpio Sky, and one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega taking on one of his challengers at All Out, Cash Wheeler!

But that is not all! A total of SEVEN matches will take place this week as we continue down the road to All Out!

AEW TNT Championship: PAC © vs. Scorpio Sky

PAC’s second defense of the TNT Championship will be against SCU member Scorpio Sky! Sky has been a great part of the AEW roster since the company began last year, and now received an opportunity at the TNT title! He also had a match with Chris Jericho in November 2019 for the AEW World Championship, but came up short. PAC and the entire Death Triangle have been on a roll since PAC’s return, and he looks to continue that success with a title defense here.

Cash Wheeler (w/ Dax Harwood) vs. Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega made a decision last week that has changed the course of the AEW World Tag Team Champions’ feud with FTR. He attacked Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood when they offered him a beer, but has claimed that he only did so because if he didn’t, they would. He claims he did it to protect Hangman Adam Page, his partner and fellow champion, because FTR is allegedly attempting to get into Hangman’s head. Page firmly denies this, and is under the impression that FTR truly respects them and wanted to keep the match a respectful affair. But now, with the choice made, there is bad blood between Omega and Wheeler, who he hit with a V-Trigger last week. The biggest question for this matchup is will Adam Page back up his partner at ringside, or will he leave him outnumbered by FTR?

Hikaru Shida & Riho vs. Kris Statlander & Thunder Rosa vs. Nyla Rose & Bea Pristley

A colossal three-way tag team match ahead of the six-woman showdown at All Out for Hikaru Shida’s AEW Women’s World Championship. These alliances may not last for the entirety of the match!

The Gunn Club (Billy & Austin) vs. Mr. Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana

The Dark Order has been very public in their attempted recruitment of Austin Gunn. Billy is very adamant about his son staying far away from them, but Austin has shown just the slightest bit of interest. Now in the same ring in opposite corners, how will Austin react?

The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho/Santana & Ortiz) vs. Cody & The Natural Nightmares

Cody and the Natural Nightmares came to the rescue of Matt Hardy and Private Party last week after the Inner Circle’s victory. Cody and Jericho have reignited their feud, beginning with Jericho’s attack on Cody with Floyd that cost Cody the AEW TNT Championship to PAC. Now two weeks ahead of their match at All Out, Cody and Jericho face off in trios action!

Sammy Guevara (w/ Jake Hager) vs. Marko Stunt (w/ Jurassic Express)

Sammy’s former friend Marko Stunt asked Tony Khan on Twitter for this match, after Sammy insulted Marko’s Jurassic Express partner Luchasaurus in his vlog on YouTube. Sammy’s return to AEW was a loss to Matt Hardy, but he rebounded last week with a win in a trios match with Chris Jericho and Jake Hager against Matt Hardy and Private Party.

Orange Cassidy (w/ Best Friends) vs. Rey Fenix (w/ Pentagon Jr.)

After the trios match between the two factions last week, the feud continues this week with Rey Fenix taking on Orange Cassidy. Back in May, Fenix kicked the head right off of Orange Cassidy while Orange was distracted, knocking him silly. After three months, Orange finally has the singles match that he has wanted ever since that moment. Will Orange Cassidy redeem himself here, or will Death Triangle’s white hot momentum continue?

Plus…

We hear from AEW World Champion Jon Moxley!

We take a look at Dr. Britt Baker DMD’s rehab progress!

We hear from Darby Allin ahead of his match against Brian Cage at All Out!

Multiple NXT Contracts Expiring

By Dave Meltzer | @davemeltzerWON | Friday Week 2, August 2020 7:43 PM

zdfqoeH.jpg

F4WOnline has been told that the contracts of a few of NXT’s top stars are expiring soon. This list includes Keith Lee, Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa, and Tegan Nox.

All four of these talents have been treated very well in NXT, and are expected to remain in the company. Keith Lee has the approval of Vince McMahon himself, and squared off with Roman Reigns at Survivor Series along with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Adam Cole has been NXT Champion for 404 days, and is Triple H’s golden child in NXT. Ciampa has stated that he never wants to join the main roster because he likes the schedule he works currently. Tegan Nox is one of the most heavily pushed women in NXT at the time.

Tommaso Ciampa has accomplished everything there is to do in NXT, including concluding his rivalry with Johnny Gargano, so there is always the chance that he may want to find a new challenge. While many companies would love to have him, the most likely destination of course would be AEW. The company does not run house shows, so the travel is not that much of a change, and a new contract would certainly be around the same as his NXT contract.

Adam Cole’s girlfriend, Britt Baker, is a member of the AEW roster. She is one of the most over talent in the company, even during her rehab from a knee injury. Some of Cole’s closest friends are also in AEW as well, including the entirety of The Elite, most of whom he was aligned with as a member of the Bullet Club.

Tegan Nox has been embroiled in a long-term story with Dakota Kai, her friend who turned on her almost a full year ago. Although both women have gone in other directions creatively, they always end up working against each other over time. Tegan has been pushed as one of the leads of the NXT women's division and may very well see an NXT Women's Championship reign in the future.

While it remains to be seen if any of these talents jump ship, it is unlikely due to their pushes and presumably high extension offers.
