Perhaps a match that can only be labelled a mismatch. Two of World Championship Wrestling's longest associated wrestlers in terms of when they started their career with the Atlanta based promotion, Vader and Disco Inferno will go head to head in a grudge match. This fued started off gently enough when Disco Inferno made a snyde joke to some of the Power Plant workers immitating Vader. Vader, not one known to be particularly well off in terms of sense of humour did not see the harmless humour and began to follow Disco like a bad smell. Vader has been on a roll within World Championship Wrestling, some have estimated that he will headline a Pay-Per-View or two before year's end. His size and menace have got him over with the fans very nicely. But now he finds himself stuck in a bit of a meaningless fued really, which highlights one of the first questions we have of the new booking regime - what the F is happening here? And that will be our question at Blaze of Glory, this match should only be good for a toilet break, as while Disco Inferno impressed many by upsetting the big man not too long ago, he will be like a kebab on a stick and Vader will be very hungry. Crunch crunch, crunch. Snap, crackle, pop. One of the more fascinating matches on the cards pits current WCW World Tag Team Champions the New Age Ringmasters "Mr Wrestling III" Jerry Lynn and "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe against former tag team champions the Filthy Dogs featuring Konnan and Billy Kidman and former tag team champions the Perfect Event featuring "Perfectshawn" Shawn Stasiak and "Main Event" Chuck Palumbo in a fatal three way dance for the tag title belts. The recently formed New Age Ringmasters have been highly impressive since both debuted in World Championship Wrestling not long ago. Infact, many are touting Samoa Joe, a likely lump of a lad with a lot of in ring durability and flexibility to be a contendor for the upper echelons of World Championship Wrestling reckoning before too long. In Jerry Lynn he has a partner who is still one of the greatest mat technicians in the business today. Together they compliment each other very nicely. Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak have had abundant success in the tag ranks since their days as rookies in the Natural Born Thrillers. Stasiak is the son of former WWWF legend Stan "The Man" Stasiak, while together with Palumbo the Perfect Event display probably the greatest power game in tag team wrestling today given KroniK has now split up with the recently departed Bryan Clarke having left for free agency. In Billy Kidman and Konnan, there is another large contrast. Konnan these days relies more on a tough mat style, while Kidman shows a lot of Konnan's lucha libre foundations with an ever present high risk, high octane in air extravaganza. Together they have only recently held the tag team titles, and perhaps together they form the best all round tag team unit in World Championship Wrestling. Given the claims of all three contendors, this match should be a cracker. We think the belt will remain on the New Age Ringmasters purely for the fact that recently we think World Championship Wrestling has been levelling the playing field with the World Wrestling Federation on the back of better all round in ring wrestling styles. One of the recent strengths of WCW has been the regrowth of the Hardcore Championship, currently held by Hardcore Evolution's Rhino. This has largely been due to the influx of talent, and the direction of hardcore legend Mick Foley. World Championship Wrestling now boasts a staggering pool of hardcore exponents - aside from the four in this match, the likes of Crowbar, Norman Smiley and Terry Funk have some expertise in this domain. Recently, at Friday Fire, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair spiced up the Rob Van Dam and Rhino fued by introducing new World Championship Wrestling signings Sabu and Tommy Dreamer to the mix, much to the disgust of Mick Foley. Foley claimed Flair had been trying to hold back the Hardcore division due to their much publicised personal hatred, but Ric Flair proved this not to be the case with a good display of crafty dealings by luring ECW legends Sabu and Tommy Dreamer to World Championship Wrestling to compete in the Hardcore match slated for Blaze of Glory. One thing is very evident, this match will be a slobber knocker. There will be no holds barred. There will be a massive pool of blood and bruised egos by the end of the bout. We think that the Hardcore Evolution is on somewhat of a roll, and the presence of Mick Foley may be enough to get Rhino over the line here. I don't think it'd be an over-reaction to claim that Goldberg and "The King of Bling Bling" Diamond Dallas Page straight out hate one another. And when you add that green rage of envy into a simmering conflict, as happened at Fire with Diamond Dallas Page revealing the likes of Goldberg are holding him back from achieving what he believes he's duly entitled to, it makes you think that some of the shots in this one might be stiffer than usual. Particularly when you measure up Goldberg. Yes, the man himself who went on a near 200 and 0 winning streak at the very beginning of his World Championship Wrestling career. Infact, he'd held the World Title before he even lost a recorded match; although of course, that is heavily disputed hush hush. It has been notable of late that he has started to develop better skills, be it with the stick, or with his ability to put on a match that makes sense. Even during his peak, one thing that hurt Goldberg was his ability to tell a story in the ring. Indeed, often his matches were therefore limited to being minute squashes so not to expose him. His opponent is former World Champion and crafty ring veteran "King of Bling Bling" Diamond Dallas Page, a man who seems to know no limits in terms of what lengths he'd go to, what short cuts he'd take, to register a victory Because of this, we're all tending to lean towards Diamond Dallas Page. We think since his departure from Kevin Nash he's offered a lot more to the top brass within World Championship Wrestling. He could work it right back up to being constantly main event material, like he was at his peak only a couple of years ago. Either way, we don't think either man will make it out without bruises, scars, lost blood, maybe even broken limbs. Should be a great match. "Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner has recently realligned with his heinous brother "Genetic Freak" Big Poppa Pump to again become one of the most reverred and feared combinations in professional wrestling today. And their opponents have similarly been men no one wants to meet in a dark alley, namely Sting and the Undertaker. Both are wiley World Championship Wrestling veterans, Steiner has a particularly nasty mean streak in him whereas Sting has all the street smarts in the world. Recently Sting put "Nature Boy" Ric Flair out of commission in a great farewell match for the Charlotte native with an ending reminiscent of the great matches from the late 80's and early 90's between arguably the two franchices of World Championship Wrestling. The styles in this match again will be quite contrasting, but one of Sting's legacies is to be adaptable to the conditions. It's amazing how he can switch from a 500 pound wrestler to a lightweight and still dominate or find the key to success. Call it experience, or call it outstanding ring-man ship, there's no denying Sting's crudentials. We're just not sure how he's going to be able to handle not only Rick Steiner, but the murky ringside presence of Eric Bischoff in this one. With that in mind, our tip goes to the Dog Faced Gremlin. Cometh the man, cometh the hour. That's the challenge for both of these two powerhouses. Both these men at their irresistable peaks are near enough to being invincible. Steiner's raw strength will go head to head with Undertaker's eery presence and tenacity in a match that could be one for the ages. Recently, the Undertaker has been on a hell of a run within World Championship Wrestling, throwing around bodies as if they were emptied carcusses ready for embalming in his morgue. It's been quite incredible the impact he's had on World Championship Wrestling since he's joined there from the World Wrestling Federation. However, we feel this one might go against him. It's common practice that when you steal a major star from an opponent, you job him out to show your roster was always better than theirs. It's common practice, and really, it's common sense. With that in mind, we tip "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner to Steiner Recline Undertaker to submission in this one. No matter how prestigious or important the matches aforementioned may be deemed, they are all just merely entre's to this smorgasbord. This is the real deal. This is the match we've all been waiting for, without a shadow of a doubt. "Positively" Chris Kanyon won the coveted WCW World Heavyweight Championship at SuperBrawl Revenge in shall we say, slightly controversial circumstances. But here, the battle lines have been drawn. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair has made it abundantly clear that if there is not a clean and clear winner, the title will be held up. That brings back into the market Booker T. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion has been desperate to strike revenge into the heart of Kanyon. Not only has his coveted title been snatched away from him in a magnificent bout at SuperBrawl Revenge that must surely rate as a match of the year contendor, but his pride was snatched that night too. These two men have been at each other's throats for a long time now. All the build up, all the controversy, all the hatred, all the manipulation, it all comes down to this. And what better way to settle a score than a Tables, Ladders and Chairs extravaganza. What better way to win or retain the WCW World Heavyweight Championship than outlasting our opponent and being able to find that last surge of energy to set up and climb that rickety old ladder to claim such a fabled prize. In this match, we've gone with "Positively" Chris Kanyon. We think one aspect may be being gravely underestimated here. The beautiful, the charming, the seductive, and canniving Miss Hanc*ck. We think her presence may have a distraction effect on Booker T at some stage in the match allowing Chris Kanyon to hit the Kanyon Cutter, which he showed on the near invincible Vader has no equal, and no room for comebacks. So there you have it, Blaze of Glory 2001 is nearly upon us. They're our predictions in what is surely going to be a hard and savage show, one that needs to deliver on all the hype and promises to make sure they do not give back the ground they have claimed back off the World Wrestling Federation. One slip up, and the promotion may be back on Death Watch. ------------------------- Ladies and Gentlemen - the card is announced for Blaze of Glory 2001, your predictions are most welcome. I absolutely love this Dynasty just so you know, I don't post all that much and only really started reading it about two weeks ago. And to show my love for this, I'll do some predictions!
*WCW Cruiserweight Championship: "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels defends against Shannon Moore[/quote[ It's just not time for Daniels to lose this belt. So Christopher Daniels Retains. Prediction: Christopher Daniels
* Disco Inferno takes on Vader
Disco is a dead man, he just doesn't know it yet. Prediction: Vader wins! FATALITY!
* WCW World Hardcore Championship: Rhino will defend against "Mr Monday Night" Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer
This is going to be a great match, I love the way you treat the Hardcore title you've almost made it as good as the Television title. This one's tough but I don't think Sabu or Dreamers going to do it because they just got in WCW. Soooo.... Prediction: Mr. Monday Night himself, Rob Van Dam
* WCW World Television Championship: "Sultan of Swing" Juventud Guerrera will defend against "The Franchise" Shane Douglas
This is a tough one as I can see either guy getting the win here. But I think it's time for Juvi to lose the belt for a while. Prediction: Shane Douglas
* The Battle for Torrie: "King of Old School" Steve Corino will battle Lance Storm
The King of Old school's going beat him him old school style and then treat Torrie with some class, Old School style. Prediction: Steve Corino!
* WCW United States Championship: "Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett will defend against "New Generation" Rey Mysterio and Sean O'Haire
I'm a Sean O'Haire mark, always have been, always will be. I felt that he could have been a World Champion one day if given the chance so let's allow WCW to prove it. Prediction: Sean O'Haire... but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.
* WCW Tag Team Championships: The New Age Ringmasters ("Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe and "Mr Wrestling III" Jerry Lynn) will defend against the Perfect Event ("Main Event" Chuck Palumbo and "Perfectshawn" Shawn Stasiak) and The Filthy Animals (Konnan and Billy Kidman)
Ah so much love for me here. Kidman, Samoa Joe, Lynn and even Shawn Stasiak (ywah I know, I'm a freak). Let's just say that Joe is going to kill you, and be done with it. Prediction: New Age Ringmasters will be clubbering and flippity flopping
* Sting will take on "Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner
Sting. I'll say it again.... Sting. Prediction: The Man Called Sting
* "Genetic Freak" Big Poppa Pump will take on The Undertaker
'Taker is on a hot streak and he's a newer aquistion, Steiner is an old school WCW guy but someone needs to fall to the Dead man so... Prediction: Undertaker, unfortunately.
* WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Tables, Ladders and Chairs: "Positively" Chris Kanyon will defend against Booker T
Wow this is going to be brutal and awesome, I can't really decide. All I know is that I want them to do one more match in the Triple Tiered Cage Match so let Booker win and move on to the Rubber Match. Prediction: Booker T does some playah hatin'

Another great show. I think what I like about it is almost everyone on the roster seems to have their place, there isn't any deadwood. As previously mentioned, even guys like David Flair and Disco have a place on the roster and are active and seem like any minute they could be in a storyline

The Giant?! Blimey! Two huge WWF coups in a month! Great show man, as usual. It deserved an A*, but I guess as you used the not so over vanilla migdets it was gonna be hard. Personally I'm glad you used them, because as previously stated, I always felt like the should have been better utilised. Great show :)

Great show :)
I'm a firm believer if you don't get your newer talent profiled and out there, you just nail another coffin into WCW long term. That was a huge problem previously with WCW. Not enough decent exposure for some great, great wrestlers. Thanks for the thoughts, glad you liked it! I always had a bit of time for the Giant. Andre the Giant was of course a massive folklore character in some ways, but this bloke is every bit as good as him in my book.
So many ways this could go, WCW 2000 is a diary writers dream. I like what you've done with it so far.
Thanks for that. Much appreciated. I don't like closing too many stories off completely. Things are always open for interpretation and twists and swerves.
