Slaughter and Don Kernodle v The High Flyers Slaughter and Kernodle did just as they said, they put on a clinic. They isolated Brunzell and beat him down with quick tags. Just when it seemed that he would be able to make the hot tag to Gagne, Greg turned away and ignored the tag. A stunned Brunzell just stared in amazement at Gagne. Then Slaughter clotheslined him from behind and locked on the Cobra clutch and secured the submission at the 5:44 mark. Slaughter looked good out there. Brunzell is improving in performance skills. B- After gaining the submission. Slaughter and Kernodle continue the assault. Slaughter sets Brunzell up for a pile driver. Kernodle is holding his legs, Gagne slides back into the ring to the applause of the crowd. He pushes Kernodle out of the way, and then pauses. After a moment of reflection he grabs Brunzell's legs and aides Slaughter in executing the pile driver. The crowd boos loudly. Slaughter lifts the limp body of Brunzell up and positions him for another pile driver, which Gagne also aides in. At this time a host of workers runs in from the back and chases the trio off. theoutlaw321
Title renamed The NWA, INC has announced that they have renamed the GCW Jr Hwt Title; it will be known as the NWA Rising Star Title from here forward. Les Thornton will keep the title and begin defending it on Thursday. Also, in the commotion of Monday, a stack of contracts was laid on Huston's desk. Seems David had been busy signing enhancement talent. With the names on these contracts all that really happened was he just made it harder for Huston and the creative team to find ways to use an already crowded roster. theoutlaw321
Friday Wk1 Feb 1983 http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/theoutlaw321/internet.jpg Headlines for the week: The NWA surges ahead In the battle for ultimate supremacy, the NWA has surged ahead of the WWF after pulling back to back great shows this week. Wednesday’s TV taping for Sunday's show pulled a B+, which, highlighted by an A match on the undercard by Harley Race and Jack Brisco impressed all those who attended. They followed this up by going head to head with the WWF last night and pulling an impressive A rating for their show to the WWF's C-. They outdrew the WWF in attendance (15000-10000) and in buyrate (0.12-0.08.) The NWA show last night drew back to back to back A* matches to end with Slaughter/Wahoo fighting to a 20 minute draw; Andre the Giant besting Harley Race and Ric Flair defending his NWA World Hwt Title in the main event against Nick Bockwinkel. The WWF countered with Pedro Morales defending his Intercontinental title against Invader #2 in a C- match and in the main event Backlund losing his title to Jimmy Snuka in a C+ match. Last nights events coupled with the early reports that the WWF is on the verge of being spurned by all of the NWA talent that they have targeted, most notably Sgt. Slaughter, Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan; This will be sure to upset the powers that be in the WWF and just add fuel to the already roaring fire. Already this week we have seen the NWA forced to terminate the contracts of Bob Backlund and Pedro Morales as a result of a violation of a court ordered injunction. There are still copyright infringement proceedings to be taken care of. Reports are that those will take place sometime next week. So stay tuned we will have the reports as they transpire. ________________________________________________________________ Valentine wins World Title! Tuesday night in the first show of the year for the newly opened WWA promotion, Greg Valentine defeated Dick the Bruiser for the WWA World Title. ________________________________________________________________ In other headlines: Michael Hayes unseats Frank Dusek for the WCCW Texas Hwt Title in his first defense. Roy Shire has become Head Booker for HCW. Jacques Rougeau defeated his brother Raymond for the NWA Canadian Title last night on a MLW show. And the Moondogs defeated Dewey Robertson and Ray Hernandez for the CStates Tag Team Titles....
theoutlaw321
Huston sat at his desk, putting the finishing touches on Saturday night's show on TBS when the door to his office swung open abruptly. In walked Thunderbolt Patterson. "What is this s***!" He exclaimed as he tossed some papers onto Huston's desk. Huston "TB what is your problem?" TB "Right now I guess that'da be you and that so called booking team yous got." HH "I take it you don't like the way your match tomorrow is booked? What a surprise." TB "I'm about tired of your attitude." HH "Mine? Let's talk about yours." TB "They ain't nuthain wrong with my attitude." HH "According to who?" TB "I done told you before, I ain't jobbing to those kids no more." HH "I beg your pardon TB, but I believe you work for this company and if we deem it in the best interests of this company to push the Road Warriors then you as an employee of this company will do what is asked of you to see that happen." TB "I ain't jobbing to them no more, change the match." HH "I beg your pardon?" TB " I said change the match, I ain't doing it." HH "TB, it hasn't been all that good of a week, and I really am not in the mood for anymore of your crap. So in your long term best interests I suggest you leave before things are said that can't be taken back." TB "You've had a bad week? At least you ain't got some nobody ring assembler ruining your career." HH "Nobody ring assembler? That how you see me? Well let me tell you how you are viewed in the eyes of this company.' TB "Can't wait to hear this." HH "TB, every since the companies merged you have done nothing but piss and moan about everything we have asked you to do. And I for one am tired of it. We're growing. We have more workers under contract right now than we can use. I was really hoping to work things out but at this point I have no other choice. After tomorrow night's match with the Road Warriors, I'm placing you on suspension for a month. Maybe during that time you'll realize than................ he didn't get another word out as Thunderbolt slung all the papers off his desk and walked out. ________________________________________________________________ After informing Jim of the events that transpired, a call was made to Rufus R. Jones. It was explained to him what had happened and what was to happen as a result. He said he would see if he could cool TB off a little and get back to us. theoutlaw321
Bad news from last night OCC: Seems Slaughter's debut was a good one. The only problem was that he was injured. Ruptured spleen out 31 days(?) That really sucks. Seems our plan has at least early on been successful. Fred and I decided to at the onset of the game to try and offset the prestige advantage that the WWF had by offering contracts to the top workers so that they would have to choose between working for just the WWF or working dates for both the NWA and the AWA. Slaughter was the first to sign with both. I had no interest in Ventura. Hogan has turned down Vince's overtures to this point. Now this injury was not part of the plan....... It was also announced that Steamboat turned down an offer from NJPW. a Not to be out done! While not on the same scale, the NWA signed a couple of guys who could pay dividends down the road as they came to agreements with Rick Rude, Steve Williams, and King Kong Bundy. In other news: The WWF bested the NWA on Sunday as WWF Championship Wrestling outdrew Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling 1.52-0.96.
