Purple Cowboy
Arg... thanks. Looks like I have to run through Invasion just one more time. At least I'm getting better at blocking. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

As you level, your energy pool goes up but your equilibrium stays the same (unless you superstat Recovery or add Recovery via items). Or rather, your recovery remains the same and thus becomes a smaller percentage relative to your total energy pool. So for example, when you pop in the invasion at level 1, your equilibrium and energy are the same but as soon as you hit level 2, your equilibrium drops because it's no longer equal on the scale as your energy. The more you level, the larger the disparity, which is why you want to have at least some recovery on your items.</p><p> </p><p> What I always tell people is to ignore your superstat stats when you're choosing gear. "WTF, that's crazy, Remi!" No, it's not. Sure, you give up a little bit of damage by spreading things around but the benefits warrant it. Lemme give an example:</p><p> </p><p> Let's say you're a Might character with STR/CON superstats. You'll want DEX and EGO for crits. You'll also want Presence for aggro. And oh boy, woe be unto you if you ignore Endurance and Recovery. If you're a tank type, you'll want Presence for aggro. If you're a healer/DPS type, you'll want presence for its aggro reduction. But, it's generally the one (and ONLY) stat I slack on because I tend to play solo or in small teams where aggro isn't that big a deal. Plus, aggro in CO is so fracked atm, I think you can afford to skimp on it, <strong><em>if you're not a tank</em></strong>.</p><p> </p><p> Your superstats go up every level on their own. Thus, you use gear to fill in the gaps on those stats that don't go up every level (or go up every other/few levels). It's why when I've used my free retcon, I've gone the custom route on those characters (using 'The Hero' as my primary focus, for its balance) and then superstatted what I wanted to focus on (or ignore). Like, on Kinesis, I'm loading up on STR so when her attacks knock stuff down, they go down HARD. I've skipped Fanboys like stones on a still lake by hitting them from an angle while flying.</p>
Antithesis
Meh, bought another copy for my nephew but after I entered the CD key I learned he didn't have access to an email account so I entered mine, and the game purchase is now credited to my account. Guess I'll have to call long distance and hope they sort it out.

Purple Cowboy
Should have a nice little session again this afternoon. I'm really digging how you can manage how much energy you put into an attack. Makes me feel like I am getting to know the system better when I only use just the right amount of energy to finish off a mob.
Moderndaywarrior
For "Red Bug Down" just jump up on top of the very first crashed Qualaar ship in the tutorial....that's all you have to do. My Power Armor toon made 10 so I did the 3 PvP matches with him for the quest.....22 kills,1 death....the 1 death happened cause I had to answer the phone so really it would be zero deaths. Compare that to the Might toon....3 kills and 15 deaths, primarily because as soon as people see a melee toon,it gets chain held/roooted then kited to death....things are so borked in favor of ranged attacks it isn't funny. Clarity
So.. Being a brit.. Can i play with the Yanks on here.. Thinking of buying it today
Purple Cowboy
Yup, should be no problem. There are no servers to choose so once you're in just hit one of us up and we can add you to the Super Group. BTW, I saw a post on Massively yesterday about a more detailed manual that is now available in PDF: http://www.massively.com/2009/09/13/champions-delivers-manual-labor/
Moderndaywarrior
So.. Being a brit.. Can i play with the Yanks on here.. Thinking of buying it today Yep,whole game runs on one server with multiple instances of each zone, one of us ought to be around...I know I will be on after work somewhere around 3:30-4:00,which if I did my math right is around 8:30-9:00 PM GMT. EDIT: If you get stuck or have questions, feel free to ask Remi or me;we've both logged enough time to have run a good bit of the quests and a pretty decent grasp of most of the game's mechanics. Remianen
So.. Being a brit.. Can i play with the Yanks on here.. Thinking of buying it today YES! CLARITY! You get to design the SG costume, Mr. Artist (since none of us wanna do it). Consider it mild hazing. No, it's a very good game. There are some rough spots, no doubt, but CoH had rough spots in different ways (hello purple patch/burn/'City of Blasters'/smoke grenade). I must admit that the server setup is very attractive to me. I remember buying 14 copies of WoW in 2004 and emailing CD keys to friends in the UK and Australia so we could all play together (Blizzard forcibly segregated people by region when WoW released) so this setup works well for me. Purp (and everyone else), do not choose a single stat talent. Do not. You're cheating yourself if you do. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see a bunch of talents that boost more than one stat at once (Martial Training, Combat Training, Sniper Training, etc). Yes, +8 DEX looks awesome but +2 to all stats (Jack of All Trades), +3 to 4 stats, etc all give you more bang for the buck. It's the difference between choosing 8 attribute points and turning down 12. No one should do that. Use your talents to 'fill in the gaps' around your superstats. Sure, sometimes you'll have overlap (i.e. you won't be able to avoid taking a talent that boosts str or con for a STR/CON build, sometimes) but that's okay. Your talents are generally used to round out your character, not to define him/her (that's what superstats are for). Imagine what it would be like if you got to 40 and, on a Might tank-focused character, you have 206 STR/CON.....and 33 in everything else. Your energy pool would be more of a puddle, your equilibrium would be almost completely to the far left (meaning you can't do much of anything without using your energy builder for a while first) and you'd hold aggro as if it were air (which is to say, not at all). Of course, it would be nice if they told you all this so folks who aren't 'numbers oriented' would see the pros and cons, but hey, the game is new, right? Purple Cowboy
You are right of course. I've actually printed out this thread this morning so I can give some of your earlier comments a real read rather than board-skim style! I feel like I "got into it" a lot more this weekend which is always fun.

There are some rough spots, no doubt, but CoH had rough spots in different ways (hello purple patch/burn/'City of Blasters'/smoke grenade). Oh yes, "The Good Old Days"....friend of mine made a Fire/Fire Tanker around then, mostly because he likes fire power, not knowing how crazy Burn was.....he got to 6,got burn....then 2 or 3 days later he's about to make level 40,just by luring mobs into boxed in areas, laying down Burn, then kiting away. I remember when Blasters were crazy as well....I got SO tired of Energy/Energy toons with spiky blond hair screaming "KAMEHAMEHA!" and annihilating everything on the board. If it wasn't that if was Fire/Devices people doing nothing but Caltrops/Rain of Fire and killed purples at a frightening rate. Smoke Grenade was another classic....watch me solo these 6 +5's at once.

Clarity
Yeah, make sure you check the PDF manual Purple linked to about 8 posts back, it's a bit better than the "standard" manual.I would be hesitant to even call it a manual. Example: Character Creation The character creator is incredible robust. For more detailed info check online Gameplay Check online. Troubleshooting: Check online I would have liked a little bit of info.. Things like GI, levelling.. Its got nothing Also.. How bigs the patch
MrOnu
I've been giving this game a shot since launch. The only expectation I had was to feel powerful (I mean, we're superheroes dammit!) and the game could do a bit better in that departement. I'm not very high level (10ish), but it's fun enough I'll continue playing for sometime. I'll drop a line next time I'm online to join the supergroup. Codename : @maljjin

The game is a very solid MMO, but strip away the super hero "look' and you don't have a super hero "feel" to it. Back in open beta all the characters were overpowered. With just regeneration you could tank a Super Villain and he'd be lucky to get you down to half health. Maybe not very challenging but it did make you feel badass. Now....meh. It's a solid MMo.
