I'm curious, does anyone have interesting Owner Goals from Mr. Cornell?

 

Besides the usual ones, I can't hire Psychopaths, and I can't hire anyone over the age of 35.

 

I also have to keep Rocky Golden & Benny Benson over 71 momentum.

 

Yeah...Golden's fine, but I'm not that high on Benson. I think the guy is pure midcard so I'm hoping I can keep him over 71 until the goal has passed. So I came up with this idea. I signed Greg Black, reunited him with Benson as High Concept (100 Rating), and I'm going to make that team a focal part of my tag team division. Tag team gold pretty much guaranteed. Hopefully it works out.

Bach's contract comes up in february, needless to say I turned the goals off since his patience was already bad after RDJ slipped below 71 momentum from 1 match (from mid 80s) so yeah.

Edit: And yeah, this is why I play with owner goals off. It can get too restricting, I prefer having freedom in booking. Not to mention momentum can be really unpredictable.

Cornell can give some weird and annoying owner goals. I mentioned this in the TCW2010 thread before, I once got the goal that I couldn't sign anyone working for a Cult Company or Higher. Really Tommy? What if a top SWF guy is listening to offers? That makes me no sense to me as far as a real life company would operate.

 

So yeah, I turned off the goals that time, lol.

Yeah sorry when I said midcard, I meant upper midcard, too. That's where Benson always is for me. Beats the likes of Edd Stone, loses to the likes of Wolf Hawkins. I just don't know if such a thing will keep him above 71 mometum for 2 years approx.

Is anyone else finding booking TCW to be a royal pain? Aside from the awful backstage rating, seems like, I can't seem to get a card above B-, usually in the C's. Match ratings aren't coming out anything like they should given the talent, and in trying to utilize storylines with angles, the ratings are just.. arg.. And now I'm kinda screwed on the RDJ/Vessey storyline since the first match I booked told me they don't have chemistry..

I gotta keep RDJ over 71... ugh... i hate him lol. But now that I think of it it won't be too hard, the dude's a bonafide main eventer and he'll job but he'll get himself back each PPV.

 

My other goal is to keep Wolf over a certain point but he's my guy going forward. My TCW is putting a lot of faith in him and as long as he stays healthy he'll be my champ for a nice, long, two year run. When I had access to brand splits i had Wolf with a forever run, like three years or so but the other title jumped around every 3 or 4 months or so. Speaking of which, are there brand splits this year?

I started an alliance called "The Wrestling Alliance"... TCW, NOTB, USPW. Based it off the idea of a unified front against Eisen and the SWF. Worked really well so far. I've brought in Baine and Sean McFly for a few dates and it's produced great grades so far.

Like the tutorial says though, 70% of the show rating is based off the main event, so I'm trying to make sure I deliver there as best as I can.</p><p> </p><p> But ya, just because it worked in '10 it doesn't mean it will work in '13. For example, in '10 you can have a guy dominate in a victory, and if done correctly, he'll get a 2 Pt Popularity boost from it. The best I can do right now is offer all the goodies (catering, chiropractor, transportation, etc), and that only gets me to 84%. And I obviously can't do that every time with TCW's lack of funds.</p>

I know what you mean about booking being tougher though. My mental grade calculator seems off... but I've spent 9 years playing with a different product and different people (and previous game) so it's rather different.</p>

My main event of Wolf Hawkins vs Rocky Golden for the TCW World Title in a Steel Cage carried it to a 77 Overall Rating. The match got an 81. Wow, I lost my owner goal about keeping Rocky Golden over 71 momentum. The guy has an 85 momentum rating, and a loss in a PPV Main Event drops him to a 67??!! Ouch!

Ring generals no longer seem guaranteed to pull mid-70s with anyone at all. I'm having the same trouble in TCW as I am with my 21CW game (albeit with different products): I can't rely on Dark Angel / Tommy Cornell to pull a great grade regardless of opponent, much less physically declining midcarders like Brent Hill.</p><p> </p><p> Also maybe it's just me, but it seems like overness has been adjusted so that it is WAY harder to have more than two guys break out of the pack and become the focus of the company. You really need to dedicate your time to getting them on-screen and popular, meaning you don't have much for other guys.</p>

It doesn't seem to matter what I do, I can't put enough good cards together to stay at National. I beat out USPW in month 1 just to drop midway through February. I pull out a couple B cards but everything else is in B- range and makes me lose popularity. I got the Backstage up to around 85% and had even gotten an agreement for a second TV show (not expecting the drop to Cult)

Is that the secret? Because I haven't been using slow build on my matches, but I'm not assigning the "go all out" note either except in certain instances. Should I be using more slow build notes for the majority of the matches given the product?
