[RELEASE] The Main Event: Feb 1988 RW Historical Mod

Recommended Posts

So in doing research for the mod, I saw where Paul Orndorff admitted to steroid use, but that it was prescribed to him, which as we all know is fairly common for certain medical conditions, and that he didn't abuse them or use them to gain an unfair advantage. That said, should I give him steroid stats at all, and if so tick Reformed? Or leave it at 0% for cases such as that?

Other than the Conquistadores, I've pretty much completed the WWF and moving on to JCP. I'm thinking of keeping JCP at Cult, but debating how to do their contracts. I was thinking of maybe having their bigger stars be under written deals, then their lower card guys being on PPA deals. Thoughts on this and my previous question concerning steroids(the post right above this one) are welcomed.

<p>Orndorff - if that is the case, I'd leave it at 0. </p><p> </p><p>

As for JCP, that would work well. Definitely keep their biggest stars on written contracts (don't want everyone being stolen too soon!) - having the undercard on PPAs also allows for rotation and if players (or the AI) want to sign them to writtens they can.</p>

So far for JCP, I've got Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Bob Caudle, Butch Miller, Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane.</p>

Those are the contracts I have done so far(and all those mentioned are written). Flair obviously will be written when I do his. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> And just added Chris Champion under PPA. I'm trying to remember, Chris Champion was solo at this point, right? And was he still doing the cheesy back from the future gimmick?

Speaking of Flair, I'm debating how to set his personal stats, because we all know how he liked to party, but at the same time, he still had many great matches throughout his career. Maybe if anything, just throw in narratives that could effect his personal stats later on in his career as it was winding down?

What I'll do for those narratives is put two asterisks by them. That way, players can see them as optional historic narratives, and if they want to delete them, they can, kinda like what Genadi does for his mods.</p>

Depends on what you're OK with as far as progress goes. So far, I just have WWF done, and I'm working on JCP as we speak. Would've done WWF sooner, but I took a bit of a break with my e-fed's biggest show of the year going down recently and diving into Shawn's New Dawn Rising mod. I've thought about adding the Conquistadores to the WWF, but at the same time, I have the push levels where I'm OK with them(unless others disagree, of course), and I wonder if those two being signed would knock them out of whack.

depends on where they'd be assigned to, also if they didn't get used much you can leave them off and people can sign them if they want

Sounds good to me. I'm almost done with JCP. Do you want me to send what I have so far once I have them done for you to do a small beta test? Or wait till I get some more work done on it?

I'll check it out, do you have just the workers in the two companies or do you have free agents done to?

Right now I have a total of 228 workers, and 94 free agents. Basically, I'm importing from mods such as Golden Age, Rising Storms and War to Settle the Score as I go along with each promotion. That way, I don't get lost in the mod-making and make the work a bit easier.

Just an update to let everyone know that the following rosters are done:

-WWF

-JCP

-AWA

Currently working on World Class(WCWA). Also, talked with franticloser after he did some beta testing. He brought up the point that Jim Crockett Promotions was just the parent company that ran the Mid Atlantic territory, and suggested naming the promotion Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling, then putting in a narrative talking about the sale of the company, then putting in a note telling players that they can change the name to either NWA or WCW, with logos provided. Just wanted to get everyone else's thoughts on the matter. As for the narrative, I'm not going to put Ted Turner into the database himself, and the narrative will be that he bought the company. But due to the game mechanics, the story will be that he's simply the money guy and is allowing those in charge to run the company as normal, with the narrative giving the company a financial boost.

I am pretty sure they were going by Jim Crockett Promotions at this time. They dropped the Mid- Atlantic name to sound less regionalized to do battle with Vince. They were also running shows from the east to west coasts at this time. Are they going to be Cult or National to start off with?

Right now they're at Cult, which still allows them to have Written contracts. But I am willing to up them to National if everyone thinks they should be National. Another idea I've considered is just calling it the NWA, and any promotions that were part of the NWA organization have a Working Agreement with them since they were promoting themselves as the NWA at this time(with Jim Crockett Promotions being the corporate name, kinda like how WWF had the corporate name of Titan Sports at the time).

I vote for just calling them the NWA. I remember watching the Clash of Champions and the weekly shows on TV. At least in California thats what they were known as. I didn't even know about JCP until I got into the history of wrestling.

Well I do know for a fact the game will allow you to have alliance and a company by the same name. National Wrestling Alliance because in the game I am running I have National Wrestling Alliance as a alliance and I changed Jim Crockett Promotions to National Wrestling Alliance as a promotional name. They were running National at this time that what actually killed them. They couldn't afford going coast to coast and by the time it was realized it was too late.

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward just calling it the NWA and giving them working relationships.

Also, does anyone have any idea when Ron Trongard started working for the WWF? I know it was in 1988, but when? Late '88? Early '88? I can't remember, and Google isn't bringing anything. His Wikipedia page doesn't even say. I could just go ahead and give him an AWA contract so they'll have an announcer. And if I'm not mistaken, Lee Marshall was announcing for AWA at this time, right?

Rod started with the WWF in September of 1988 and left in February of 1989
