i have been around the forums and played Adams games (TEW) for many years. i dont usually post in the forums but read them all the time.

this mod is awesome. thank you.

i remember when dboon ghost (i think that was his name) brought out the death of the territories mod back when. i loved it.

this takes it even further back in time, i love it. i am 48 and have been a fan of wrestling my whole life. go to the fan fests when i can. collect everything! have a huge collection of old VHS tapes, DVDs and magazines from the old days.

i dont watch todays product, its not for me.

My game has started quite promisingly. I also added all the workers from the 1983 mod into the database, so I won't run out of workers. I had a couple of duplicates I had to kill off but so far I am up to December and it's working well.

I have started off my own company as Sylvester Stallone, and so far I have some pretty useful wrestlers.

My main feuds so far have been Stallone vs Johnny Powers, The Fabulous Fargos vs KKK and now Ivan Koloff v Stallone and Johnny Powers vs George Steele.

CWF have signed a few workers to written deals, but due to my working agreement with them none of mine :) I am enjoying it so much I popped my laptop charger, so am unable to play this game until I acquire another one. I would have loved some narratives in it, and all my workers are always fatigued, apart from that I am enjoying it.

Great work.

Nice, hopefully you won't need to import anyone else after the next release. Out of the one hundred or so that I've added, only a select few début later than 1980 so the large majority will début pretty early on. Some intriguing storylines there, I can't say I was expecting them when I made this moderation. xD I apologise for making a moderation so good you played it long enough to literally blow a fuse. :p What kind of narratives would you like? I've always been against those that impact the wrestlers as I see historic moderations as a way to build an alternate universe and adding things like "Worker Starts Using Steroids" for me are only applicable if you want the world to resemble real life in some way; I'd much rather leave that sort of stuff up to luck. I'm willing to listen to other suggestions though if you have anything particular in mind? As for fatigue, it's unfortunately a consequence of the hectic schedule (which reflects that of real life) but it is manageable, you've just got to find the right balance.

Thank you for taking the time to post, it truly means a lot. I'm glad you're enjoying it and I can help you - I presume - to relive your childhood. I had very little wrestling memorabilia before I started this process but during the course of it I've collected a lot of old-school VHS tapes, magazines and posters and I'd consider them one of my prized possessions now after literally going through the history of professional wrestling and I have to say, falling in love with it. Even though I still do, I too find it quite difficult to watch modern day wrestling now because things are quite simply not the same. xD Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it by the sounds of it. :)

I hadn't really any narratives in mid, just companies opening and closing, like the Black Sunday narratives in the 1983 mod. I don't know what companies if any closed down or opened during this period though.

Again, companies are in the same vein as workers in that I'd rather let things unfold rather than lead things in any sort of direction. I may look into some economic/industry narratives though as the wrestling world obviously doesn't effect them. Yeah, it's something I'll look in to but I'm not promising anything as I'm in no way an economics expert so if I can't find information online (dates and stuff) then I'll unfortunately have to leave it out. I may also add some eras as they too aren't affected by the wrestling world but more popular culture.

There's the oil bust in the Mid South area in 1987 that a lot of people attribute to UWF/Mid South's downfall (I, for one, don't agree...I think it was a combination of things, one of which being they gave away so much on free TV that in a depressed economy it didn't make sense to go to the live shows when they weren't as exciting as what you were seeing on TV....hello WWE & Raw :) )

Black Sunday was in June of 1984 but like you said, that was very wrestling specific.

Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily add a narrative there. UWF/Mid South was still drawing fans despite the economic crunch. I'm sure they were feeling the pinch, but if I was to add a narrative I'd have to give them a financial crash or something and I honestly don't think it was that bad considering they lasted another couple of years. In fact, for Bill Watts to make it last as long as it did considering the Mid South didn't really recover until the late 80s was amazing. As you say, I think there were a lot of varying factors at play which led to their downfall but to add a narrative, it'll probably cost them a lot more in the game than it ever did in real life.

Version 2.0

Okay, I'm finally in a position to release Territory Daze: Version 2.0. Once again, I just want to thank everyone who has downloaded Territory Daze thus far. I was truly amazed when we hit 100 people who have downloaded by moderation but including everyone who has downloaded previous versions (so there's bound to be a number of duplicates) the number of people who've downloaded Territory Daze has gone over 400 people which is just phenomenal. To know you guys are out there playing it (and hopefully enjoying it) makes all the hard work over the past year well worth it. Anyway, here are the major changes that you'll find in the new update, not including some of the more minor changes (I'll leave them for you to find) and more than anything, I hope you enjoy:

New Promotion
- I've added
50th State Big Time Wrestling
, the promotion from Hawaii. It's fully playable and I've also gone through every single worker and added 50th State to their employment history if they have a history in Hawaii and also set their popularity in Hawaii.

Japan Overhaul
- Firstly, I've added a bad relationship between JWA and IWE to stop them from sharing talent to better reflect real life. I've also split JWA into brands as Giant Baba couldn't contractually appear on NET TV, he could
only
appear on Nippon TV so to simulate this, I've split them into brands with one brand for the programme on Nippon TV and one for the programme on NET TV. The only people set to a specific brand (so everyone else can appear on both shows) are Giant Baba, Antonio Inoki and Kintaro Oki. With the help of the wonderful lovegun77, I've also added a fair amount of backstage/on-screen workers to Japan which will obviously help fill some holes.

Added Workers
- I believe the previous version had
966
workers but Version 2.0 has over
1,100
so I've added well over 100 workers to the database. That includes yet to début workers and workers who have already debuted and is made up of men, women, managers, backstage workers, people from Japan, Mexico, Britain etcetera. It's a wide range of workers who'll hopefully enhance game play. Oh, and it includes
every single
worker who members of the Grey Dog Software forum have supplied me with over the last couple of months.

Statistic Changes
- As always, there's also been some changes in statistics; fiddling with some things as I think every mod maker does in their spare time. There is no way I can list all the changes here, so you're just going to have to find them out for yourselves.

Picture Pack
- Along with pictures for all the workers I've added, I've added new logos (most of them aren't in the database set to open, but I've added their logos anyway if you, the player, want to add them yourselves), PPV logos and such like (again, they're for you to add) and generally just gone over everything to see if I can sharpen things up a little.

And A Whole Lot More
- To be honest, it's been so long I can't remember what else I've added/changed. If you've been keeping up with this topic, then you'll probably know a lot of it anyway but if you haven't, just enjoy the surprise.
:p

<p>2.0 version finally came out.</p><p>

When I first heard your plan of making 1970s mod, I thought that is just impossible. I must tell you you have done literally unbelievable work. To an old school wrestling fan like me, this mod can be amusement for whole lifetime.</p><p>

The only bad news is I have to start a new game again now.</p>

I just noticed...you have Ivan Koloff as being Russian and not speaking English. Everything I've ever seen on him, including his own website, said he was born in Montreal. I believe he spoke English from the get-go. He definitely doesn't speak Russian though, I think it was all part of the gimmick.

From my understanding, he was born in Russia (and therefore Russian in my view, because I choose nationality on where they were born even if they didn't necessarily grow up there) and moved to Canada as a youngster. Even if he didn't spend long there (six years I believe), I think he would have picked up most of the language which is why "Eastern European" is set to "Passable". Then his "French" is "Fluent" because I believe he grew up with a French-Canadian family but also picked up some "English" which is "Basic" because like many French-Canadian towns/cities, they speak a mixture of both French and English. Maybe he simply doesn't like referring to his history in Russia, even on his website? Because I took the information from what has proved to be a good source.

I know he certainly speaks a little bit of Russian because when he began teaming with Nikita Koloff, the two of them used to speak Russian together in the ring to confuse their opponents. It wasn't just a work either, because there are many stories of their opponents (out of character) joking about it saying things like "The damn Koloff's would speak Russian just so we didn't know what they were going to do!"

<p>One thing about St. Louis...they weren't really a "territory" (kind of the same as how Houston was later on). It was just the Kiel Show (or later Checker Dome). They didn't book it like a regular territory, you just came in to do the TV and the Kiel. So you may want to take the weekly house shows off for them if you're a stickler for absolute accuracy. </p><p> </p><p>

For my own games (I've got a 7 player multiplayer game going now where I'm booking all the territories!) I took out the weekly house shows and just made it one Big End of the Month show and one smaller House Show. The other way became too overwhelming (for me, I'm delicate <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />)</p>

<p>Okay, played almost a week (ran TV) for AWA. I love the new additions and tweaks you did. AWA is still the old folks home with I think 9 on the Time Decline list, and that's with me getting pretty lucky. Verne, Gomez, and Luis Martinez (46 btw) aren't on the list at all, and Carpentier is on the first stage. I think that's their biggest issue is that most of their UMC and ME faces start on Time Decline.</p><p> </p><p>

1. I'm going to take the blame on this, and it is really, really nitpicking and probably more about the angle pack I use. The announce team for AWA (didn't check others) have crippling Acting ratings (sub 30). That means they can't be used in any angle that is based on Entertainment (as it's the avg. of Mic/Charisma/Acting). I never looked at it before so that's on me, and again, I use my own Angle pack that I ported over from 10 which have a lot of the angles for interviewers rated on Entertainment not Mic. Not a huge deal, but I thought I'd mention it.</p><p> </p><p>

2. Even after changing their Product (to the Pop>Perf non-gimmick killing product) in the Editor before starting the game, I still had way too many people with Gimmicks rated at 71 with several at 66 or below, and I have no idea why. That probably is more a game change for TEW2016 though as I hate starting a game being stuck with failed gimmicks for months on end. The new people I hired are doing fine with the gimmicks I gave them.</p><p> </p><p>

3. Take this with a grain of salt too, but honestly there is absolutely no reason to have arenas that are just a tick above where the cutoff is on price. For instance, there's an arena in the Midwest that is like 10,949. No human player is ever going to use that because the cost goes up from $30k to $100k. Again, that's a nitpick, but I feel it would save mod makers time if they left those out.</p><p> </p><p>

4. Still have everyone trying to sign Rodger Kent (AWA's CC).</p><p> </p><p>

Looking forward to playing this game out. Oh, and I signed a Non-Aggression pact with CWF just to be safe. It only cost me not signing Jack Brisco so no big whoop.</p><p> </p><p>

One last thing. My TV main event was Carpentier vs Dr. X (66 vs 71 psych/70 vs 80 pop in MW), and I got the lack of psych note. That's with a Regional AWA too, btw. Just as a follow up to what I was saying a few months ago.</p>

He'd have been wrestling for nine years at this point and was wrestling in prominently English speaking areas(except his excursion to Japan). <p> </p><p> I wouldn't go lower than Passable though if you weren't comfortable with Fluent.</p></div></blockquote><p> It's just the French-Canadian thing that bothers me (forget the Russian now, I've seen away with that <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">) but as you say, he's had a good number of years in English speaking areas and as I said before, he was bound to know a little bit even growing up in a French-Canadian area so I'm happy to go with "Fluent" I think.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="shipshirt" data-cite="shipshirt" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>One thing about St. <p> </p><p> For my own games (I've got a 7 player multiplayer game going now where I'm booking all the territories!) I took out the weekly house shows and just made it one Big End of the Month show and one smaller House Show. The other way became too overwhelming (for me, I'm delicate <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">)</p></div></blockquote><p> I'm not saying you're wrong because you probably know a lot more than me, but I found plenty of results from areas like Winnipeg, Manitoba; Fargo, North Dakota; Denver, Colorado etcetera so it does seem there was a fair/normal amount of events outside of the weekly Kiel Auditorium show. Doing your own multiplayer game sounds awesome, by the way. It may be something I have to try myself. xD</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smartman" data-cite="smartman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Okay, played almost a week (ran TV) for AWA. I love the new additions and tweaks you did. AWA is still the old folks home with I think 9 on the Time Decline list, and that's with me getting pretty lucky. Verne, Gomez, and Luis Martinez (46 btw) aren't on the list at all, and Carpentier is on the first stage. I think that's their biggest issue is that most of their UMC and ME faces start on Time Decline.</div></blockquote><p> Yeah, unfortunately I can't do anything with their age or change their roster; we're pretty much stuck with that. I'm glad you're happy with some of the statistic changes though, it really helped me to go back and watch some old AWA shows because it helped me realise I was probably underselling some of them.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smartman" data-cite="smartman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>1. Not a huge deal, but I thought I'd mention it.</div></blockquote><p> A lot of the (what I'd consider) old-school announcers who were brought in from television/radio stations don't have high acting skills because they were never in positions to act, if that makes sense? Their sole job was to call the action and you didn't really have them become part of the show like they do today. There are a couple of exceptions though as in some areas, the announcers - even if they were picked up from TV/radio - were asked to get involved a bit more in interviews and what have you so not every announcer is that bad. I can't pick a name from memory but I'm pretty sure they're not all that bad. xD </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smartman" data-cite="smartman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>2. The new people I hired are doing fine with the gimmicks I gave them.</div></blockquote><p> I'm also at a loss as to why. I assure you no one has a set gimmick rating or anything of that ilk so I can't think of anything that would effect it that much. </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smartman" data-cite="smartman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>3. Take this with a grain of salt too, but honestly there is absolutely no reason to have arenas that are just a tick above where the cutoff is on price. For instance, there's an arena in the Midwest that is like 10,949. No human player is ever going to use that because the cost goes up from $30k to $100k. Again, that's a nitpick, but I feel it would save mod makers time if they left those out.</div></blockquote><p> Honestly, I've never even thought of it like that. xD When I was adding locations, I'd just find their real life attendances and add them to the database.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smartman" data-cite="smartman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>4. Still have everyone trying to sign Rodger Kent (AWA's CC).</div></blockquote><p> Yeah, I still haven't really found a solution. I did change some announcers so that they were set to "Sometimes" a colour commentator but it doesn't really seem to have made a difference to the AI who seemingly ignore them and those that I added who can "Always" be a colour commentator doesn't seem to be enough either. I don't know how many we need before the AI stops generating their own too. For now, I think we'll just have to live with those that are generated because I'm still at a loss to be honest. </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="smartman" data-cite="smartman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38619" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Looking forward to playing this game out. Oh, and I signed a Non-Aggression pact with CWF just to be safe. It only cost me not signing Jack Brisco so no big whoop.<p> </p><p> One last thing. My TV main event was Carpentier vs Dr. X (66 vs 71 psych/70 vs 80 pop in MW), and I got the lack of psych note. That's with a Regional AWA too, btw. Just as a follow up to what I was saying a few months ago.</p></div></blockquote><p> Yeah, it's hard being AWA with the recent update unless you sign everyone to written contracts straight away because trust me, the NWA sharks start circling as they can't feast on their own. xD</p><p> </p><p> I think statistics on a whole are something I'm going to look at for the next release because I think the "Yet to Début" workers I've added over the last couple of months are generally more well rounded that those already debuted as I've learned more and more about the game. Whether the next update will be for TEW 2013 or the next instalment (whenever that'll be) remains to be seen but yeah, statistics (and therefore psychology) is something I've definitely got planned to re-evaluate.</p>
