Dark Phoenix Wrestling: A Woman Scorned

<p>The Meteoric Rise and Fall of BSC: The BSC Originals</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><span>http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg</span></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laying in her cot in her dark home/office back in Piper Casino, Kate Avatar is once again in a foul mood, her hopes for a game-changing alliance with AAA and QAW dashed completely. The question now is if DPW can survive the extra scrutinity the company has begun to receive over the past few months, but instead of thinking about that, Hell Cat decides she'd rather scroll through Marilyn Stardust's book for a bit.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41787" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="margin-left:25px;">Quick, when I say BSC, what wrestlers come to mind? </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Joanne Rodriguez? Jaime Quine? Alicia Strong?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Those are the names I usually hear when I go to wrestling conventions around the country. It’s not surprising, considering those three were the part of Kate Avatar’s chosen ones, but what about the people that helped build BSC from the ground up, the ones that were there on Day One, only to be forgotten once Hell Cat came to town? What the Original Babes of Sin City?</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/jk5luby.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I’d be remiss if I did not mention the first Queen of the Ring, Christine Allen, then known as Charlize Angelle, and now more famous as Krissy Angelle. Despite her contributions to BSC, Christine was long gone before Kate took over. No, the BSC Originals are the core that stuck with the promotion through thick and thin, even as they drifted down the card, doomed to jobbing on pre-show matches and being humiliated in double entendre driven skits.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/XMnU6hY.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/PsqAHDl.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/lxvSIcs.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You see, if Hell Cat didn’t bring you in, then you were nothing to her. Sure, Vampella, Alexis Ramos (aka Alexis Lee Littlefeather) and Dharma Gregg enjoyed early success under Kate's reign, but Avatar only built them up so she could eventually use their connection with the audience to get her own signings over. And once she had gotten all she could out of them, these women joined the Neptune Twins, Roxy Kitten, Britney Hollywood, and Sprite at the bottom of the card from which there was no escape. In Kate’s eyes, it is once a jobber, always a jobber.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/optrlNQ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/FFD32Bm.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Now, some people will give credit to Hell Cat for even keeping these women around. Most of the world saw them as simple eye candy, strippers with a bit of training. One secret that can now be revealed is that in the wake of Alison Capone’s firing, Kate promised the BSC Originals that they would always have a job as long as she was in charge of the company.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I’m sure most of you will think of this as a noble gesture, but really it was just a cold and calculating one. For Kate, the BSC Originals represented cheap and expendable pawns, ones who would bust their asses night in and night out, doing whatever ever they were told, because they had nowhere else to go.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/uLNROqP.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I remember vividly Roxy Kitten working out in the wee hours of the night, trying to get better in the ring, trying to earn a push. Sure, Kate would promise her one, time and time again, but then another new ‘talented’ worker would be signed, and soon it was ‘Sorry Roxy, maybe in a few months. I just need you to do a few more jobs.’</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/fcPV6fN.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/FpmyKNZ.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The case would be the same for Jen and Kathy Neptune, women who developed tremendously over the years, but never got a second look from Kate as she brought in new, higher priority tag teams.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> It is no wonder then that after BSC folded, most of the Originals stopped competing in the ring, or left the business completely. In fact, out of the nine initial members of BSC’s roster, only Alexis still wrestles today, quite well I might add. Hollywood, Gregg and Kitten, on the other hand, have followed in Angelle’s footsteps, becoming valets to keep the paychecks coming in. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> We are left to wonder what might have been if Kate had pushed one of these Originals instead of hiring other people's stars, but Hell Cat has never been one to reward loyalty over hype.</div></div></blockquote><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>OOC:</strong> <em>Thanks to Dr_Avalanche for choosing this as one of the rewards for the Red Alert prediction contest (yes, that long ago). There are no plans to bring in any of the BSC Originals right now, but never say never.</em> <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

On the eve of Heat Check, Kate Avatar sits in her home/office at Piper Casino reading the comments on DPW’s YouTube home page. While Hell Cat knows she shouldn’t let these obvious trolls bother her, she can’t help but think about the damage they are doing to the company. With a single nasty message or a down vote, one commentator can hurt DPW’s reputation and keep a potential new viewer from clicking on a video.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hell Cat sighs, this recent comparison to other companies in the region not the only currently issue weighing on her mind. It has been a busy month for Avatar, having finally hired a new consultant to replace Phil Vibert on the booking committee and as a locker room leader. While Kate and this new advisor got off on the wrong foot in their first meeting, she has implemented at least one change this person recommended, despite the increased cost to the promotion.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With DPW’s profile higher than ever, the risk of a potential lawsuit from using unlicensed music has become too great to ignore. If any of the musicians found out about DPW using their songs without permission, the resulting legal action could bankrupt the company. After a back and forth argument with the new consultant, Kate agreed to scrub this unlicensed music from DPW’s online library. This would cost $450 to bring in a sound engineer to fix the videos from old shows and $250 per event moving forward as the roster would still use the same entrance music, but only the fans live in person would hear it.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/52WMMKc.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Lost in thought about legal loopholes and fair use, Hell Cat barely notices as Laura Flame peaks her head into her office. “Kate, you have to come quick! You won’t believe what’s going on with the girls!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Without a single question, Avatar leaps to her feet and rushes to the locker room, fearing the worst. Once she bursts through the door, Kate finds a scene much different than the one she had been expecting.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In one corner, Simony Sentinel and Ariel Breaks sit sipping tea and discussing their favorite places to shop for rare varieties of leaves. Yet it is in the middle of the room that the biggest commotion is taking place. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/YktNqrZ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/lGDXjoF.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Charity Dark and Joanna Silver stand as they play the newly released “SWF 2K19,” the rest of the locker room cheering them on as they fight Rocky Golden against Jack Bruce.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/wcwjMEX.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“OMG Hell Cat! Isn’t this great?! Velvet organized a video game tournament, and this is the finals!” Maria Guest sprints over to her boss with a broad smile across her face.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Kate can barely speak at seeing this heretofore unknown harmony being displayed by the members of the roster, and simply nods slowly in response.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Maria ignores this silence from Hell Cat and continues, “Gypsy Rose even played this great prank on me! She put shaving cream in my shorts, so when I put them on, I got a big surprise!"</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Avatar blinks a couple before turning her head towards the blonde next to her, “Wait…you’re not mad? You don’t want to kill her?” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“OMG, no, I was lol’ing so hard!” Guest gives one more big smile to her boss before skipping back to the video game battle between Dark and Silver.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Kate becomes a little faint and checks her forehead to see if she might be running a fever before mumbling to herself, “I feel like I’ve entered the Twilight Zone…”</div><p></p>

<p>Scenes from a Simulation</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks again for everyone that voted in the diary of the month contest! I'm glad you are enjoying this crazy adventure that Kate is on. I'm up to All In All IV in March 2019 in the simulation right now, with the booking plans sketched out through All In All V, so we're at least going that far, fingers crossed. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

As a thank you for the voting, and not necessarily a reward, I thought I would share some interesting tidbits from the playthrough that I haven't been able to incorporate yet, with the last one being the most important. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<p>The first one of those was CLEARLY the most important! <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

As for Carnie, he hasn't pulled anything like that yet in my save but I live in dread of it, particularly because if my real life boss did that I'd walk out the door in protest. Karma Kollopy might have to make some decisions then too... Irish Pride Wrestling may or may not have a logo already designed in anticipation of such an event... <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I was interested to see that SNP picked up Jackie Goldstein in your save too though presumably without calling him 'The Alchemist' and giving him a talk show called AuDibles (cos Au is the chemical symbol for gold innit?!).</p>

Laura, if you somehow manage to survive our Last Woman Standing match tonight...and you won’t, Sista Kass is going to be waiting for you at Ashes in the Fall. You and the Ice Hag want to attack me from behind, but all you did was show how desperate you two really are. I’ve been on the road with Laura for almost four years now, and let me tell you she’s ten times the woman either one of you are! She comes early and stays late, she works her ass off to make herself better, and she sure as shit doesn’t make excuses when things don’t go her way! There’s a reason she’s Queen of the Ring, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let either of you take that away from her!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laura nods appreciatively toward her long-time tag team partner, but before she can speak, Thea and Kass charge and the brawl is on. The crowd roars with each blow between the two teams, Laura fighting against Davis while Claire takes on Kass.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Despite Winters having noticeably bulked up since her last battle with the 240-pound behemoth, Kass still gets the upperhand through her power, while Flame and Thea fight to a draw. Thanks to the strong start the opening segment has gotten the show off to, the fans are extra passionate in their support for Simony as she looks to start the match against Guest. The gold-clad blonde, on the other hand, smirks, and tags in Svelte to let the technician do her dirty work.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> After this initial lock up, the strategy of Generation NOW becomes clear as they ground their opponents to the mat then target a specific body part with a punishing series of submission maneuvers. Simony, Velvet, and Ursula are up for the task, battling back with their combination of speed and strength. In the process, all six women get a chance to shine with Sentinel leading the pack in terms of performance, but Maria and Selina are not too far behind.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The back and forth action gets the crowd hotter, even as momentum builds behind Generation NOW. With Ursula in the ring, Hoshiko slaps on a rolling leglock that strains Saez’s already battered right knee. Simony and Suarez rush in to break up the submission attempt, but get blindsided by Selina and Maria for their effort. While Sentinel and Velvet roll to the floor to recover, Tagawa holds the Mayan Mauler’s leg open so Guest can jump from the top rope and hit Ursula’s knee with a flying elbow. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Saez writhes in pain, which only increases as Hoshiko tags in Maria so that the leader of Generation NOW can put Ursula in the Figure Four. No cavalry intercedes this time, leaving the Mayan Mauler no choice but to tap out.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winners via Submission: Generation NOW</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: D</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “Yeeeeessssssssss!!!” Maria lets out a primal scream after getting back to her feet as she celebrates finally beating Simony. Selina and Hoshiko join Guest in addressing the booing audience, letting their leader speak first, “I told you! I told you I’m better than her! It took six months, but I did it!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Guest takes a victory lap around the ring while Simony and Velvet Revolución look on from the theater floor. Hoshiko lifts up her microphone, and proceeds to spew forth another stream of venom in her native tongue that the fans can not decipher. Tagawa’s rant continues for several minutes, and while the crowd does not know what has made the Japanese technician so angry, they do not hesitate in voicing their displeasure at whatever it might be.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Once Hoshiko has finally finished, Svelte prepares to take her turn, but simply screams, “And that’s all we’ve got to say about that!” before dropping her microphone as Suarez holds back the wounded Ursula from running back into the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: E+</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match #2: Glorious Monsters (Glorious Gloria and Monster Ishimura) vs Yo Ho! Gloria flails her limbs as her shoulders hit the mat, but fails to kick out before the referee slaps the canvas for the third time.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Winners via Pinfall: Yo Ho!</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: E</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Gloria rolls to the theater floor to process what has just happened, joining Ishimura, who dry-heaves from exhaustion. In the ring, Polly and Joanna celebrate their victory with a little jig that soon turns into a twerking contest. Despite the absurdity of it all, the majority of the crowd can not seem to get enough of this titillating display, Amorous’ fan club having only grown in size due to the presence of Silver.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Gloria looks back at this dancing as she heads up the ramp with hate in her eyes, indicating that she will not let this defeat slide without some form of retribution.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: C</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/YktNqrZ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kq95o5v.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With Jawbreaker now in the ring for their tag title defense, the lights in the theater go out, revealing a twitching Sandra Shine somewhere in a dark corner backstage on the video screen. But then we found the way, then we found the Lady.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Sandra lets out a disturbed cackle as she rocks back and forth faster, “We seek Her…we must find Her…the gold must be Hers!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Charity nods before adjusting the star pendant resting on her neck, “Darkness rises over DPW. Ariel recovers from the shock of the Ladies' teleportation in time to begin exchanging punches with Sandra. With the crowd solidly behind Shine and Dark, there is a palpable sense that the tag titles could change hands tonight.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The chaotic nature of the action gets the fans buzzing, with all four wrestlers brawling inside the small confines of the cage. The clash of styles helps as well, with the Ladies Reborn using their aerial expertise, while Ariel counters with her technical prowess and McMahon is the epitome of a hard-nosed brawler.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Especially at home in this element, Kathy thrives as she throws Sandra and then Charity against the cage walls. Breaks simply has to get out of the way of her tag team partner, who’s eyes gleam as a trickle of blonde starts to flow from Shine’s forehead. This momentum quickly turns when Dark catches McMahon with a kick to the head and then uses the cage as a springboard to deliver a whirling tornado DDT to the brawler.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Her partner incapacitated, Ariel tries to fight back against the odds, and actually manages to get Shine up for Breakerfall, but Charity intercedes with a spinning kick to the stomach. Breaks bends over in pain, allowing Sandra to counter into the Rise and Shine hurricanrana. Dark quickly jumps to the top rope and flips through the air to connect with Sugar Smack, bringing the cheers from the crowd to a crescendo as she covers Ariel 1 – 2 – 3 to win the tag titles for her team.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winners via Pinfall and New DPW Deuces Wild Tag Team Champions: Ladies Reborn</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: D</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Sandra drops to her knees as one of the Deuces Wild belts is handed to her, while Charity lofts her title into the air with both hands and then chants, “Oh generous Lady, you bless us with your favor! We seek this glory in your Name, and your Name alone!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Ariel makes a break to attack Dark, but a recovered Kathy puts her arm in front of her tag team partner to stop her, then signals that they should leave the ring instead. Well, I hope you’re ready for tonight, because when you step in the ring with me, you’re going to get burned!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: B-</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Main Event: Laura Flame © vs Thea Davis – Last Woman Standing Match for the DPW Queen of the Ring Title</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/52WMMKc.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>VS</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/BtwT5LL.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/dw8jdk2.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laura and Thea stand nose to nose as the referee makes the customary announcements for this title fight, but once the bell rings, Sista Kass immediately invades the ring and attacks Flame from behind. The fans pour out their hatred for this interference, which seemingly spoils what they were hoping would be Flame and Davis’ unfettered opportunity at topping their incredible encounter at Bitter Harvest.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> To the audience’s delight, Claire backs up her tag team partner by grabbing a steel chair and whacking Kass over the head with the weapon. The 240-pound behemoth staggers under the first blow, so Winters unloads with three more shots to the head that finally send the former USPW wrestler tumbling over the top rope.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The Ice Woman moves to strike Thea next, but Flame calls her off, taking the chair to bludgeon Davis herself. This exchange gives the Englishwoman enough time to see the blow coming, and Davis ducks before kicking the foreign object back into Laura’s face. Claire decides she has seen enough and charges, but Thea slides down to the mat, pulling the top rope with her in the process. Winters can not stop her momentum and flies out of the ring into the arms of a waiting Kass.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Thea wastes no time watching her stablemate take apart Claire, turning her attention back to the Queen of the Ring instead. Laura and Davis collide with a series of shrieks and grunts, the match evolving into the story of a struggle between two wrestlers, steeped in hatred for one another, battling for the company’s ultimate prize.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Flame and Davis continue the even contest in the ring while Winters fights back against another onslaught by Kass. Digging down deep, Claire manages to drive Kass’ head into the ring post, knocking out the 240-pound woman to the roaring approval from the crowd. In the ring, Thea connects with an Axe Kick to the back of Laura’s neck, but the champion gets back to her feet at the count of six, much to the visible frustration of the challenger.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laura fights back with a series of strikes, but an attempted belly-to-belly suplex sends both wrestlers over the top rope. With the action spilling outside the ring, Claire looks to make herself useful by setting up a table as Flame and Thea edge closer to the Ice Woman.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Once the table is set up, Winters moves to attack Thea, but Kass smashes Claire from behind with a steel chair. Before Laura can react, Davis’ hired gun bashes the weapon over her head, leaving the Queen of the Ring down and out on the theater floor.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The referee begins his count, but Thea decides she shouldn’t take any chances. After fetching a ladder from under the ring, Davis orders Kass to lay Laura across the table while the Englishwoman climbs up the rungs. Before Thea can reach the zenith, Flame regains her senses and fights back against Kass. Somewhat surprised by Laura’s resiliency, Kass is caught off guard as the fiery redhead creates just enough separation to level the behemoth with a Flame Fire Kick.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With anger in her eyes, Thea looks down at the champion and cries out, "Off with her 'ead!" aiming to hit Laura with a devastating Axe Kick from the top of the ladder as she jumps. Flame only has time to brace herself for the impact, but just as Davis is about to connect with the move, Claire jumps in the way and takes the blow instead.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Davis is barely able to process what has just happened when Laura throws a folded chair at her. Out of instinct, Thea catches the object, only to feel the steel smash against her skull as the champion lands a Flame Fire Kick that sends Davis crashing to the floor.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Flame bends over slightly to catch her breath as Gregory Chapman begins his count, the Queen of the Ring content to watch Thea’s motionless body until the referee reaches the number ten and calls for the bell.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner via Ten Count and Still DPW Queen of the Ring: Laura Flame</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: C- (54)</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laura is handed her Queen of the Ring title, but is immediately clubbed from behind by a recovered Kass. A weakened Claire attempts to come to her tag team partner’s rescue, but Kass easily sees the spinning heel kick coming and knocks out Winters with a punch to the jaw. The 240-pound behemoth, her nostrils flared with rage, stalks her prey as Flame attempts to climb back to her feet. Before the Queen of the Ring can rise, Kass deftly picks her up with a military press.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The former USPW wrestler walks over to the previously set-up table and tosses Flame onto it, breaking the wood and Laura’s body. <p>I had a five year playthrough from local to nearly regional in Australia and I don't know if I ever had a rematch actually score less, unless it had a specific gimmick attached to it. Even fairly straightforward ones like cage matches do worse than normal encounters in rematch from my experience. No idea why, and I've had cases where they overperform compared to a normal match but I think the workers strengths are definitely important when considering gimmick matches.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>Out of all your dark match workers, Kaori has seemed like the most consistent/skilled of the bunch</em></p><p> </p><p>

Shoot Fight for a Spot in the Four-Way Ladder Match at Unwanted Gifts for the Queen of the Ring Title</p><p>

<strong>Claire Winters</strong> vs Thea Davis</p><p>

<em>Claire needs this for a couple of reasons. Last show built her up a bit as more than just Laura's "plus one", and Thea has lost twice now. With the primary challenger shifting from Thea to Kass, Claire needs to be relevant to balance the scales in your main event feud</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Generation NOW (Hoshiko Tagawa and Selina Svelte)</strong> vs Velvet Revolución</p><p>

<em>These guys could do with eating a couple jobbers, but for the big bad guy wannabes (who are one letter off from stealing the name of your main bad guy stable) to have more meaning when they get toppled they could use another win here</em></p><p> </p><p>

Glorious Monsters vs Jawbreaker vs <strong>Ladies Reborn</strong> © vs Yo Ho!</p><p>

<em>Too soon, too soon. I could see Glorious Monsters or Yo Ho taking the titles if Ladies Reborn were too big for them to keep them from getting stuck with the titles but I think they are in a perfect spot right now, and it gives more ring time with Jawbreaker without it just being another rematch</em></p><p> </p><p>

For a Spot in the Four-Way Ladder Match at Unwanted Gifts for the Queen of the Ring Title</p><p>

<strong>Maria Guest</strong> vs Simony Sentinel</p><p>

<em>I think Guest adds a more interesting dynamic to the Ladder Match than Simony would, because Simony being in it means Guest and co will be heavily involved anyway. It also puts Simony in a different position than John Cena babyfac overcoming odds and makes her have to decide whether to get involved if Maria gets help and whether getting involved is selfish or not</em></p><p> </p><p>

For the DPW Queen of the Ring Title</p><p>

<strong>Laura Flame</strong> © vs Sista Kass</p><p>

<em>With a four way ladder match including these two, Winters, and Guest, I think Kass takes the title there. Taking it here would probably lead to her defending the title in the ladder match which would make such a chaotic mess more predictable</em></p><p> </p><p>

<p>Chapter 25 Inerlude: Death of a Legend</p><p> </p><p>

<div style="border: solid 5px #000000;"></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/7NF6C2I.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

One of the most unheralded contributors to the success of BSC was Ray Kingman. Despite only spending one year with the company as a trainer before his retirement from the business, the "Crippler" had an impact almost unmatched by anyone else. While Kingman certainly mentored all of the roster, he concentrated on spending time with Paige Croft and Talia Quinzel, getting those two wrestlers ready for the main event positions they would assume shortly after he left the company.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This is what Kate Avatar thinks about as she sits in a back pew of a balmy Dallas church at this legend’s funeral.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/X9pxndO.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It’s hard to believe that he’s gone,” Joanne Rodriguez, sitting next to Hell Cat, keeps her voice hushed as mourners, friends, and relatives continue to filter into the church.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It really does just feel like yesterday when he was telling me ‘Kate, you can’t kill a spider without finding its web first.’”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The sides of Joanne’s mouth curl slightly upwards, “I still don’t know what that means.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Neither do I,” the two women share a small, wistful laugh as Kate scans the room. Being one of the largest churches in Dallas, Avatar estimates there must be at least 3,000 people at this funeral, people that Kingman’s life and work managed to touch. The guest list reads as a who’s who of the industry, with Tommy Cornell the only notable absence, the 21CW wrestler refusing to leave the bedside of his son, Edward, as the latter lays in a London hospital recovering a recently suffered broken neck.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Wow, is that Larry Wood? He looks awful,” Rodriguez points out the owner of CWWF and Kate can not help but agree due to the heavy bags under the Mountain Man’s eyes.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I didn’t know they were that close.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It’s not that. I guess the rumors are true, CWWF is on their last legs. I hear they are going to put on two more shows and that’s going to be it for them,” Joanne lets that piece of information hang in the air for a second as Avatar thinks about another Women’s promotion going under.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Kate coughs and then tries to move the subject away from financially struggling companies, “So how are things going in USPW?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Joanne scoffs and rolls her eyes, leaning back against the oak of the pew before responding, “The struggle is real Kate, the struggle is real.” Rodriguez looks at the people sitting around them, but finds most are too distracted by their cellphones to pay any attention to what she is about to whisper, “I tell you, I wish I could go back to when all that mattered was how good of a match you had. Now it’s ‘that rating was shit’ or ‘the Women’s segment didn’t draw enough eyeballs.’ You know Reverie can breakdown the viewership numbers into five minute blocks. Hell, they can tell whether people fast forward through a match, watch the whole thing, or turn it off during the middle of it.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

All Kate can respond with is, “Wow,” as Rodriguez tries to keep her own voice low.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Then Robbie Sanchez has the balls to ask me why our women aren’t putting on five star matches like NOTBPW. Well, maybe if you gave us more than five minutes a show the live audience might actually start caring about what me and Jaime and Nadia are doing instead of sitting on their hands, waiting for a Nicky Champion segment. Shit, I bet the farm on Brooke Tyler, and they won’t even let me put her on TV.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“What?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Yeah, can you believe that? All I get is, ‘Is she over? We can’t put her on camera unless she’s over.’ Well how the hell am I supposed to get her over if you won’t let me put her on camera,” Joanne takes in a long breath as she tries to gain some form of composure before the funeral starts. “I swear, sometimes I feel like just up and quitting.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well, if you do, you’ve always got a home in DPW.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rodriguez gives Kate a long, sideways stare before responding, “I appreciate that.” Joanne lets out a long sigh, her rant having apparently washed away several weeks of stress, “Yeah, I think we’re going to have to put the title on me in a few months. With Wade as champion right now, we’re going to run an A-List versus Angels of Mercy program…if that’s okay with you.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“As long as I get some royalties,” Kate flashes Joanne a smile, which causes the booker of USPW Women’s division to let out a small laugh.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Excuse me, if everyone could quiet down, we are going to start the ceremony now,” a young priest stands at the dais in front of the crowd, a large picture of Ray Kingman just off to his side.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

----------------------------------------------------------------------</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After two hours of drawn out speeches mixed with some heartfelt remembrance, Ray’s only son, Barry Kingman, takes the stage. Barry walks slowly to the alter, touching his father’s picture before taking his place in front of the microphone.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/hCYI9BY.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“How does the line go? Any man’s death diminishes me, therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls…it tolls for thee.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Never the most charismatic of talkers, the younger Kingman lets his words spread over the shifting crowd, “Dad…well dad spent his whole life making other people look better than himself. Most of us can’t make a career out of that, but he did.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Barry looks over at Ray’s picture before turning back to the crowd, “They say the measure of a man is what he does with his life. Dad used to say, you can know everything you want about a man by how many people care to show up at his funeral. Well, I think dad would be pretty happy right now. He was never the flashiest, or the loudest, but I bet there’s a reason each and every one of you is sitting here today. You have some story, or some way he has affected you. I was just his son, but for those he taught, you were his children.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The BHOTWG fighter takes a moment to wipe a tear from the corner of his right eye before continuing, “I know all of you have been sitting in this heat for way too long, but I just want to share one story. I remember as a kid...my dad was like a god to me. I could never understand why he didn’t just win everytime. One night, after my dad put over Sam Strong for the umpteenth time,” the crowd chuckles a bit at this, “I was balling my eyes out backstage, asking him why he didn’t just break Sam’s arm. My dad pulls me aside, wipes the tears from my face and says, ‘Don’t be so glum kid. If I was in this for the money or the titles, I’d be angrier than a June bug in Alaska right now, but I’m not. And you want to know why? Listen to that crowd out there, those fans are cheering their guts out for their hero. That’s why I do this, because if I can get just one person to care a little more, then I've done my job. I may not be the fastest or the best looking or the smoothest talker, but I can go with the best of them, and I can make a broom look like a million bucks in that ring. We all have our purposes on this Earth, son, and mine’s to bring the best out of people.’”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Barry pauses for another moment to swallow back some tears, “Well, you brought the best out of me dad, so thank you...I love you.” The younger Kingman leaves the dais and gives his father’s picture one more pat before returning to his seat.</div></div></div>

<p>Where are they now?: Spotlight on Selina Svelte</p><p> </p><p>

<em>From the desk of David Jacobs, Founder and Editor of WrestleDirt.com</em></p><p> </p><p>

<div style="border: solid 5px #C5B358;"></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Oh AAA's Cat’s Lair, how overrated are thee? Let me count the ways. Since the class of 2010 produced Tiffany Jade and Talia Quinzel, exactly two (yes two) women have graduated from this training camp.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/KI0xs5q.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/fzOUm1W.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While 2014 graduate Sarah Taylor arrived in AAA with a ceiling of career enhancement talent, 2012 alumnus Selina Svelte was surrounded by sky-high expectations. That hype would soon fade away, as Svelte’s egotistical behavior backstage saw her planned push killed by Catherine Quine and eventually led to her release in 2016. After coming in as one of the most highly touted rookies of her generation, Selina found herself first out of favor at AAA and then out of a job.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After working in relative obscurity on the independents for the past two years, Svelte has finally landed a role with a local promotion out of Las Vegas.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Of course this is a step back,” Selina told me when I spoke with her on the phone earlier this week, “but a paycheck’s a paycheck. I have no illusions that I’m going to join the Hall of Immortals someday, or even make it to one of the national promotions, but at least I’m somewhere that wants me. The good thing about working for [such a tiny company] is that it’s pretty easy to move up the card fast. All I have to do is be me, be the wrestler that kicks ass every night and takes no **** from anyone.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

When asked about her reputation for backstage antics that would make Fuyuko Higa blush, Svelte was her usual blunt self, “I’m the first one to admit that I’ve royally ****** up my career. I’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, since those days, but I know this is a ‘show me’ industry. My goal [where I am right now] is to keep my nose clean and show the rest of the roster what being Selina Svelte is all about. I’m only 23, and even though I feel like I’ve been doing this for two decades, I’ve got a lot of years ahead of me to make this right. I just feel sorry for any women that get in my way.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With that, my conversation with Selina was brought to an abrupt end, but if we take her words at face value, this former can't-miss prospect should be one to watch in the years to come.</div><p></div></p><p>

<strong>OOC:</strong> <em>Thanks to DarEatWorld for selecting Selina as the member of the roster to be spotlighted for the Heat Check prediction contest reward! Svelte has definitely been a pleasant surprise so far in what had been slotted in as a simple throwaway role, so the runway is open for her if she continues to perform as she has been.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Ironically, I don’t think it has been mentioned here, but Charity Dark being signed to join Sandra Shine in the Ladies Reborn was chosen by Dr_Avalanche as the last Ashes in the Fall reward. If Charity had not been signed for this tag team, she likely would have been part of Maria’s stable along with Millie the Minx, leading to a very different purpose and name for that group. Hoshiko would also probably be stuck in pre-show matches, and Selina would not have been signed. Like most of the booking decisions that come out of the reward contests, I like how things have turned out much better than what would have happened in the original plans.</em> <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>As you all might have guessed, I'm behind schedule again in getting Ashes in the Fall up. The good news is that the show is written, I just need to format and proofread it before posting. Based on my experience, this means I should be able to post it around this time tomorrow. I will say that the prediction contest is incredibly tight, and will come down to the tiebreaker, so that is something to look forward to. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Thank you for your patience, and I hope you enjoy some of the twists that are to come.</p>

Chapter 25: Fire, Meet Gasoline

Dark Phoenix Wrestling Presents…Ashes in the Fall

Live from Piper Casino

Las Vegas, Nevada

Saturday, Week 4, October 2018

Attendance: 121

Pre-Show Evaluation Match: Emiko Miyoshi vs Kate Avatar

VS
http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

In what is quickly becoming a tradition, nearly all members of the roster are in attendance for this evaluation match as Kate begins the action by leveling Emiko with a stiff punch. Miyoshi fights back, and somewhat surprisingly, the wrestlers sitting around the ring begin to cheer for the plucky Cruiserweight.

The support for Emiko is helped by Avatar acting as the heel for this match-up, and Hell Cat shines as she knocks the rust off of the tactics she used during DPW’s first year. Even though the members of the roster know that Miyoshi’s chances of winning are nil, the flow of the action still has them holding out the slightest hope that the upset may occur.

The Japanese wrestler even manages to wriggle free from Hell Cat’s Cradle, only to be hit with the Dark Phoenix Driver. Emiko stares up at the lights as the referee slaps the mat three times, but even in a losing effort, Miyoshi appears to at least gained the respect of her peers.

As the fans begin to settle in, the video screen above the stage cuts to footage from Piper Casino’s parking lot. A limousine drives into the picture, and Phil Vibert climbs out, returning to DPW to make what will apparently be a major announcement. In the theater, the crowd pops and start chanting “DAVE!” in anticipation of Vibert’s imminent arrival.

Pre-Show Dark Match: Gypsy Rose and Marie Punnen vs Kaori Mochizuki and Nami Genda

VS
http://i.imgur.com/FnQ2qa4.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/CgpxqGh.jpg

As the match unfolds, this quickly becomes a rather routine contest involving four women that seem stuck at the bottom of the card, with only Kaori standing out as she carries the action. Nami is slightly off of her game, while both Gypsy and Marie put on relatively decent performances.

In fact, the most interesting action comes after match. Seven minutes in, Mochizuki throws Punnen over the top rope after Marie tags in Rose. The street fighter lands awkwardly on her head after not bracing herself properly for the fall to the theater floor, while in the ring, Kaori hits Gypsy with the Ichihara Plunge. Mochizuki quickly covers her opponent to get the pin, but as the referee lifts up the Japanese brawler’s arm in victory, Marie reenters the squared circle and pushes Kaori from behind.

“You’re working too stiff you f*cking bitch!” Punnen screams at Mochizuki. The Middleweight appears confused by Marie’s actions, but after another shove from the street fighter, Kaori’s face turns red and she lunges at Punnen. Before the brawler can strike, Nami and Gypsy intercede to hold back Mochizuki, while the referee grabs Marie around the waist to drag her to the floor.

“You should learn to take a bump!” Kaori yells towards Punnen as referee Gregory Chapman prevents Marie from reentering the ring.

Winners via Pinfall: Kaori Mochizuki and Nami Genda

Match Rating: E

Phil Vibert walks out onto the theater stage for the first time in six months to a thunderous ovation from the audience. The former owner of DAVE takes a moment to soak in the adulation of the fans before lifting up his microphone.

“It’s good to see you too,” Phil smiles, which receives the usual shouts of ‘DAVE!,’ but also a smattering of ‘D – P – Dub!’

“The last time all of you saw me out here, I was getting my ass handed to me by Thea Davis and her hired gun. Now, I’m not one to hold a grudge,” Vibert pauses for the expected chuckle from the crowd, “but I feel like I have a duty to right some of the wrongs that have been carried out in my absence. Tonight is a very special night, because we have a tremendous main event for you. Sista Kass, 2018 Venus Champion and undefeated in DPW, faces off against the Queen of the Ring herself, Laura Flame. I expect this match to be so good, I don’t want anyone ruining it. That means I’m instituting a favorite rule of mine…any wrestler that strikes one of two competitors in the ring during tonight's title match will be instantly fired!”

The crowd greets this announcement with loud cheers, the odds seemingly not as stacked against Laura as before. “We also have a four-way ladder match coming up at Unwanted Gifts. I know last year we let the wrestlers involved sort out who was in that match, but this time is going to be very different. Now, two of the spots will go to Sista Kass and Laura Flame, because no matter what happens tonight, I’m betting all of you will want to see them fight again. That leaves two more spots…”

Vibert paces the stage, relishing in the crowd hanging on his every word, “I’ve been watching very intently from my hospital bed these past six months, and I must say the feud between Maria Guest and Simony Sentinel has been so intense, I think the winner of their match tonight deserves to fight for the title at Unwanted Gifts. That leaves just one more spot, to be determined in our next match…a shoot fight between Claire Winters
and
Thea Davis!”

http://i.imgur.com/BtwT5LL.jpg

Almost on cue,
begins to play and an unamused Thea Davis steps out from backstage, sans her hired gun. The Englishwoman scowls at Vibert as she passes by him on the ramp, and Phil meets her gaze with a sinister smile.

http://i.imgur.com/1OjidHr.jpg

Before Thea can reach the ring, Claire Winters appears to the sounds of
, the MMA fighter cracking her knuckles as she nods towards the owner of DPW, seemingly thanking him for giving her chance to fight her bitter rival in the makeshift cage that is presently being assembled.

Match #1: Claire Winters vs Thea Davis – Shoot Fight; Winner earns spot in four-way title ladder match at Unwanted Gifts

http://i.imgur.com/1OjidHr.jpg
VS
http://i.imgur.com/BtwT5LL.jpg

It does not take long for the dozen casino staffers to finish putting together the cage, and the fight is on as soon as the referee calls for the bell. Thea tries to match Claire blow for blow, but the Ice Woman is much stronger than Davis remembers, forcing the Englishwoman to change tactics.

Winters wears her frustration on her face as she chases her opponent around the ring, the only relief coming when Claire manages to grab hold of one of Thea’s limbs and then quickly takes Davis down to the mat. Mounted on top of the leader of Generations, Claire rains down a series of punches to her opponent’s face, bloodying the Englishwoman.

Instead of laying back and trying to weather to storm, Davis counters, finding an opening for a stiff head-butt that knocks Claire off of her. With Winters dazed, Thea dazzles the crowd with an all-out assault. Showing off her athleticism, Davis punishes Claire with a series of spinning elbows, then uses the cage as a launching pad to deliver a flying Axe Kick to the back of the Ice Woman’s neck.

For the first time in the match, Thea’s face brightens, and she begins to strut around the ring instead of pinning her opponent. Once Davis finally does go for the cover, she is stunned as Claire reaches up and grabs her right arm. In one smooth motion, Winters flips her rival over and locks in the Ice Breaker. The torque Claire puts on Davis’ rotator cuff is excruciating, and the hot crowd rises to their feet as they shout for Thea to tap out.

Suddenly, Sista Kass emerges from backstage, but the 240-pound woman can not get to the ring before Thea slaps the mat to save her shoulder.

Winner via Submission: Claire Winters

Match Rating: D

The referee calls for the bell, but all the crowd can focus on is Sista Kass, the behemoth ripping the cage door off of its hinges in an outstanding feat of strength. An exhausted Claire offers little defense as Kass charges and bowls her over with a devastating clothesline.

Thea rises to her feet clutching her right arm, a look of evil intent in her eyes. Just as Kass lifts Winters up for the Kill Switch, the opening guitar riffs of
blast throughout the theater to a loud pop.

Laura Flame sprints down the ramp, sliding into the ring before Kass and Thea can react. Davis falls to a Flame Fire Kick to the jaw, and Kass quickly meets the same fate. The crowd cheers as Flame stands tall over the scene of carnage and then helps Claire retreat from the cage.

A furious Kass pushes referee Gregory Chapman away when he comes over to check on her. “You’re mine Laura!” the 240-pound behemoth roars before engaging in a long distance stare down with the Queen of the Ring as the latter walks backwards up the ramp with Winters’ arm slung over her neck.

Match #2: Generation NOW (Hoshiko Tagawa and Selina Svelte) vs Velvet Revolución

VS
http://i.imgur.com/x5SF8WV.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

After the cage has been disassembled, Selina and Velvet try to keep the show’s momentum going as they kick off this grudge match against one another. Unfortunately for the audience, the action soon devolves into a wild brawl, which does not appear to suit the two members of Generation NOW or Suarez. Only Saez shines in this environment, taking great pleasure in pounding the faces of her opponents with constant strikes.

This pent-up rage is Ursula’s greatest asset, but also her most glaring weakness. Despite being worn down by Hoshiko and Selina’s precision offense, the Mayan Mauler refuses to tag in Velvet, aiming to take down Generation NOW all by herself. As Suarez pleads with her tag team partner, Tagawa targets Ursula’s right knee in an attempt to reinjure the joint. After countering the Saez Splitter with a bulldog, Hoshiko slaps on the rolling leglock, forcing Velvet to break up the submission hold before the Mayan Mauler can tap out.

While the referee admonishes Suarez to get back in her corner, Tagawa pulls out a pinch of white powder from a pouch in her trunks and blows the fine dust into Ursula’s eyes. Referee Gregory Chapman turns around to find Saez flailing blindly around the ring, but before he can properly appraise the situation, Hoshiko tags in Svelte, who quickly captures Saez in the Prawn Armlock.

Ursula’s bloodshot eyes almost bulge out of her head as she struggles to break free, but Selina has the hold on tight, and with nowhere to go, Saez submits.

Winners via Submission: Generation NOW

Match Rating: E+

Holding her shoulder and limping up the ramp, Ursula refuses Velvet’s help as the two make their way to the back. Hoshiko and Selina soon follow, but when they reach the top of the ramp,
begins to play to loud cheers.

Charity Dark saunters on to the stage, one of the Deuces Wild Tag Team titles slung over her left shoulder. Sandra Shine shuffles behind her, twitching as she pets her tag team champion belt.

Dark stares at Selina and Hoshiko before lifting up her microphone, “Poor unfortunate souls, you know not the glory of the Lady. She has blessed us with Her future, and the tag titles are our reward for being Her faithful servants.”

Svelte’s eyebrows arch at Charity’s words, but before she can make a move, Sandra steps in front of her, “The Darkness…it comes…for you and for me…run now, before it envelops you…”

Stopping in her tracks, Selina balls up her fists, but Tagawa whispers to Svelte that the Ladies Reborn are not their fight, yet.

As Charity and Sandra continue to bask in the approval of the crowd, Generation NOW finish their exit backstage, Selina giving one more squinted look at the tag team champions before she goes.

http://i.imgur.com/sZpWAMg.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/sZpWAMg.jpg

With all four tag teams in the ring, referee Gregory Chapman announces that Phil Vibert has booked this match as a demonstration of the action the fans can expect in the main event of Unwanted Gifts. The eight women involved seemed to care little for the reasoning behind the contest, their sights set only on the prize of the tag titles.

“Arrrgh, there’s gold to be had!” Joanna squawks at Polly before starting the match for her team. Gloria, Kathy, and Charity charge in from the other three corners and the fight is on.

As the action unfolds, McMahon stands head and shoulders above the rest of the competition, unloading on any opponent that dares to stand in her way. This includes Monster Ishimura, who makes the mistake of trying to catch her breath in the vicinity of Killer Kathy.

The 284-pound wrestler crashes to the mat after a Glittering Jawbreaker, but instead of going for the pin, McMahon spies Charity with her back turned and decides to pounce. Ever the opportunistic one, Joanna slides over to Ishimura’s fallen body and covers her for the pin.

Elimination #1: Glorious Monsters (Ishimura pinned by Silver)

Gloria immediately jumps into the ring, and despite the referee’s pleading, drops Silver with a Full Nelson Slam. The former bodybuilder then storms to the theater floor while Ishimura follows behind, wheezing, as the two wrestlers make their way up the ramp.

With Charity and Kathy occupied by exchanging blows with each other, Silver has enough time to stagger to her feet and tag in Polly. Amorous’ fan club cheers loudly for the adult film star as the thong-clad wrestler races into the scuffle between Dark and McMahon.

Polly succeeds in throwing her two opponents off balance, but Kathy deftly counters with a Glittering Jawbreaker and covers Amorous to eliminate Yo Ho!, much to the crowd’s disappointment.

Elimination #2: Yo Ho! (Polly pinned by McMahon)

With Jawbreaker and the Ladies Reborn the only two teams left, the match resets with Dark tagging in Sandra. McMahon looks as if she expects to easily have her way with the twitching Shine, but after landing several punches to no effect, Kathy backtracks while the small blonde wags her finger in front of the brawler’s face.

Sandra follows up with the Rise and Shine hurricanrana, but McMahon is able to kick out right before the count of three. Before Shine can land another blow, Kathy leaps and slaps the outstretched hand of Breaks, who charges into the ring with a full head of steam. Her opponent has no answer for this barrage, and no wag of the finger can prevent Ariel from hoisting up Sandra for Breakerfall.

Unfortunately for Jawbreaker, Charity is able to reach out and tag Shine on the back before Ariel can slam the small blonde to the mat. Completely unaware that Dark is now the legal wrestler, Breaks offers no defense as Charity jumps to the top rope and connects with a Sugar Smack on a standing Ariel. Dark lands on top of her foe, and before Kathy can react, the referee counts 1 – 2 – 3 for the pin.

Winners and Still DPW Deuces Wild Tag Team Champions: Ladies Reborn

Match Rating: D-

Charity and a recovered Sandra stand tall in the ring as they hoist their Deuces Wild belts into the air. On the floor, Breaks kicks over an empty chair in the front row while Kathy stares at the two women celebrating in front of her.

Shine gives Dark space to outstretch her arms, and Charity intones, “Oh Lady of the Night, reveal yourself! Show these non-believers your true power!”

Charity’s request is met by several moments of silence, until a slightly familiar raspy voice comes over the theater’s sound system, “Little girls shouldn’t play with what they don’t understand.”

Before Dark can lower her arms, a torrent of blood pours down from the ceiling, directly on to her and Sandra, much to the confusion of the crowd.

At ringside, a thin smile comes over Kathy’s face, as Breaks bursts out in laughter and points at the Ladies Reborn.

After a brief intermission to allow the ring apron to be changed, Simony Sentinel slowly walks out onto the stage with a microphone in hand. There is a pensive look on the Violent Violet’s face as she prepares to address her cheering fans.

“Tonight I face Maria Guest…again. I beat her the first time, I beat her the second time, but it’s just not good enough for her. Are we destined to do this forever Maria? Are you the Joker to my Batman?”

Sentinel pauses while looking up at the ceiling, “No, you’re just my former best friend that lost her way, that blames me for everything that’s gone wrong in her life. How many times are we going to fight? How can this ever end?” Simony shakes her head as she nears the ring, “I don’t want to think about what it will take, what it will finally take for me to be rid of you, but if that’s where you want to go Maria, I’m standing here, and I’m ready.”

Match #4: Maria Guest vs Simony Sentinel – Winner earns spot in four-way title ladder match at Unwanted Gifts

http://i.imgur.com/wcwjMEX.jpg

As the crowd chants for Simony, the three members of Generation NOW make their way to the ring to the sound of Hole’s cover of
. Maria has a cocky step in her walk, most likely due to the fact that she is accompanied by Hoshiko and Selina, here to offer their support even though Guest was not at ringside for their match earlier in the night.

Once in the ring, Maria immediately goes after Simony, and the two women fight from one corner to the other as each combatant tries to gain the advantage in the early minutes of the match. The battle continues at a stalemate, the wrestlers involved telling the story of Guest’s crazed desire to finally conquer her former best friend in a one-on-one match-up. The action suffers a little because of this, with Maria slightly off her game at the prospect of having to play a sadistic bully.

Guest tries to ground Simony with a series of submission moves, but the Violent Violet relies on her gymnastics background to flip and stretch out of each attempt. With Maria now off balance, Sentinel takes the fight to her, demonstrating a distinct lack of mercy as she looks to finish off her bitter rival once and for all.

Ten minutes in, the momentum shifts as Simony prepares to hit Maria with UltraViolet. As Sentinel bounces off of the ropes, Guest falls to the mat clutching her knee. The Violent Violet stops in her tracks as the referee checks on her opponent, who pleads that she is not sure if she can go on.

The audience voices their displeasure at the referee falling for this obvious ruse, but as Simony stands with her hands on her hips waiting for the fight to resume, she does not pick out the fans' cries for her to look out.

Silently, Svelte slips into the ring, and with what appears to be a lead pipe, brains Sentinel over the head with the foreign object. As Simony collapses in a heap on the mat, Maria makes a miraculous recovery, not giving the referee time to respond to the sudden turn of events by picking up Sentinel and connecting with the package piledriver. Guest smugly stands on the chest of her fallen foe, and this is good enough to pick up the win.

Winner via Pinfall: Maria Guest

Match Rating: D-

The crowd boos this tainted result as a bright smile beams from the face of Maria, “I just showed you Simony, you were never better than me! We are the Generation of Nothing but Outstanding Wrestling and we just beat you!”

Guest continues to berate Sentinel as the Violent Violet rolls underneath the ropes to collect herself on the theater floor. Simony wobbles to her feet, the fans offering their support as referee Gregory Chapman comes over to check on her. After nodding her head to indicate that she is fine, Sentinel stares up at Maria, who is still spewing a stream of taunts at her former tag team partner. The purple haired wrestler looks away for a second before deciding to charge the ring, but in her weakened state, the referee is able to hold her back.

In the ring, the three women of Generation NOW watch with looks of amusement on their faces as Simony finally relents to the referee’s request and heads up the ramp.

While Maria continues to celebrate, the video screen above the stage cuts to a seemingly live shot from what appears to be a hospital room. The camera pans over to reveal a revitalized Kate Avatar, the sight of which draws a deafening pop from the fans in the theater.

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

Kate waits for several beats before speaking, “Hello everybody, it’s been a long time.” The crowd responds with a loud chant of ‘Hell Cat! Hell Cat!’ as Avatar continues, “I have some good news. Despite losing my match at All In All III, Phil Vibert has graciously offered me a contract to come back to DPW. At first, I was hesitant, but then I watched Thea Davis brag about what she did to me, brag about how she helped Emma Bitch send my body crashing through a flaming table.”

Hell Cat rubs the back of her neck and then stares intently into the camera, “Well Thea, I’m
this
close to be cleared, and when I am…”

The lights in the hospital room flicker and then the feed drops out. When the shot comes back on a few seconds later, Kate is slumped over in her chair, blood flowing from a large gash on her forehead.

The camera pans down to focus on a sign hung around Avatar’s neck, on which is written in deep red:

She was never good enough for you

As opposed to previous montages, this video package highlights the combatants in the main event by slowly panning up and down their bodies. Laura Flame’s fiery red hair and intense eyes are focused on while the camera dwells on Kass’ muscular arms. When the beat of the music starts to pick up, the video transitions to action shots of the two women delivering their finishers to various opponents interspersed with training footage from the gym.

The video culminates with Laura and Kass edited to look as if they are standing nose to nose, the lights in the theater cutting out as the song comes to an end.

blares through the theater’s speakers. Sista Kass walks into the middle of this bright circle of light, her head covered by the hood of a black robe with silver trim.

Kass subtly bobs and weaves to the bass of the music as she steps down the ramp, the spotlight following her on her journey towards the ring. Unseen in the darkness, but definitely not unheard, Thea Davis begins to shout, “She is your 2018 Venus Champion! And she will be the one that finally brings the Queen of the Ring title to Generations where it belongs! Get ready to see that redheaded whore squashed, because the Kasstastrophe is here!”

While Kass shadowboxes, the crowd meets Thea’s hype routine with a downpour of boos. Once Kass finally climbs through the ropes, the lights in the theater return to full illumination, the 240-pound wrestler remaining cloaked in her hood as she waits for the champion to appear.

Flame places one hand on the Queen of the Ring belt that encircles her waist before beginning to speak, “I have only one thing to say. I’ve been in DPW for two years now. I’ve climbed to heights greater than I could’ve ever imagined, but it could all end tonight.”

Flame pauses as she nears the base of the ramp, the fans on the edge of their seats waiting for her next words, “I know the monster you are Kass. I know you’re a killer…but what you don’t have is greatness flowing through your veins! I do! I was born to do this, not for the fame, not for the money, but because I love the thrill of the fight! We are about to go to war Kass, but I want it more than you. This,” Laura unhooks the Queen of the Ring title and thrusts the belt into the air, “means more to me than you’ll ever know! You can dream about going back to USPW, getting paid and being on TV, but just remember, when you step into the ring with me, you’re going to get burned!”

The Piper Casino theater buzzes like never before as the fans in attendance rise to their feet while referee Gregory Chapman handles the customary introductions. Kass stands nose to nose with Laura, staring with rage at the champion from under her hood. With the air of a big fight in the room, the referee calls for the bell.

Kass flips her hood back and immediately lands a blow to Laura’s jaw. The Queen of the Ring staggers backwards before reaching out with a punch of her own. The strike lands cleanly, but Kass shows no ill effect as she merely snorts and then charges at her opponent. Laura is barely able to dodge out of the way of this raging bull, but Kass appears to have planned for this as she lands an elbow to the back of Flame’s head.

Laura tries to stay on her feet, but then feels her opponent’s thick arms wrap around her waist before she goes flying through the air from a release German suplex. “One!” Kass shouts at the electric crowd.

The match continues at this breakneck pace, the two wrestlers leaving everything in the ring as they fight for DPW’s highest honor. In the process, Laura tears the robe away from Kass’ body, nearly using the article of clothing to choke her foe before the referee warns her that doing so would lead to a disqualification.

Twelve minutes in, the action spills to the outside, with Laura landing a spinning heel kick that sends Kass and herself over the top rope and to the theater floor. The challenger is the first one to get back to her feet, looming over Flame before looking up to see Claire Winters running towards her.

“I know you love your friend, but I bet you love your job more,” Kass flashes a rare smile as she watches Claire stop, ball up her fists, but then take a step back. The challenger’s jovial mood quickly fades as Kass feels her knee give out from a kick by a recovered champion. As the 240-pound wrestler falters, Flame grabs her opponent by the head and throws her shoulder first into the ring post.

Laura wastes no time in rolling the wounded Kass back into the ring, measuring the behemoth for a Flame Fire Kick. Just as the redhead is about to strike, Thea jumps up onto the ring apron, and shouts at Laura. For her troubles, Davis eats the Flame Fire Kick instead, knocking the Englishwoman back to the theater floor. The champion turns her attention back to her opponent, but Kass is waiting with outstretched arms and connects with the Kill Switch.

Both women remain lying on the mat for several moments as they try to catch their breath, Kass sucking wind more than Flame. The two wrestlers rise together, their minds racing a mile a minute as they process each possible move and counter-attack. Laura is the first to flinch, lunging out to finish Kass off with a Flame Fire Kick, but the challenger sees the blow coming. After dodging the strike, Kass wraps her arms around Laura, and in a blur of speed and strength, slams the Queen of the Ring into the canvas with a spiral Kill Switch.

Winner and New DPW Queen of the Ring: Sista Kass

Match Rating: C- (57)

An exhausted Kass rises to her feet and the referee approaches her with the Queen of the Ring title in hand. Before the 240-pound wrestler can reach out to claim her prize, Thea runs in and snatches the belt away from Gregory Chapman. There is a deranged look in Davis’ eyes as she stares at the title, the Englishwoman giggling maniacally before she holds the belt aloft.

Kass’ eyes narrow as she watches Thea slow dance with the Queen of the Ring title, but the behemoth shakes her head and then thrusts her fist into the air, apparently content to wait for her turn to finally touch the gold.

On the other side of the ring, Claire helps a grimacing Laura to her feet, apologizing profusely to her tag team partner for not interfering to break up the pin.

Prediction Contest Results and Card for Unwanted Gifts

Drumroll please...:D

1st Place - MisterRomanini: 8 Points (Wins on Tiebreaker!)

2nd Place - DarEatWorld: 8 Points

3rd Plance - Dr_Avalanche: 7 Points

4th Place - John Lions: 7 Points

5th Place - Portlius: 3 Points

Congrats to MisterRomanini on the first win! I will PM you the reward shortly.

This contest was the closest I think there's been for DPW (no perfect score!), with the predicitions evenly split for the top matches and the main event (and its two points) being the deciding factor.

For a Spot in the Four-Way Ladder Match at Unwanted Gifts for the Queen of the Ring Title

Maria Guest vs Simony Sentinel

I think Guest adds a more interesting dynamic to the Ladder Match than Simony would, because Simony being in it means Guest and co will be heavily involved anyway. It also puts Simony in a different position than John Cena babyfac overcoming odds and makes her have to decide whether to get involved if Maria gets help and whether getting involved is selfish or not[/Quote]

It's like you read my mind.

I definitely want to avoid Simony taking on the "SimonyWinsLOL" vibe, but I still haven't settled on exactly what direction I want to take her character. A lot depends on what happens with the coming prediction contest reward, as well as the reward for Ashes in the Fall.

For the DPW Queen of the Ring Title

Laura Flame © vs Sista Kass

With a four way ladder match including these two, Winters, and Guest, I think Kass takes the title there. Taking it here would probably lead to her defending the title in the ladder match which would make such a chaotic mess more predictable[/Quote]

This is 100% sound reasoning, and like most of your logic, would be better booking. :)

I had Kass win the title here for a couple reasons. The first is that she's undefeated, so the match would either have to end in a DQ, or Thea somehow costing her the match to give Kass an out. With Ashes in the Fall being the second biggest event of the year for DPW, I didn't want to have a tainted main event.

Second, the original plan was for Laura to drop the belt to Kass at Heat Check, but I delayed it to get in one more Laura vs Thea contest and shift the big fight to the bigger event. Lastly, what you describe is similar to the logic I had when booking the title change from Simony to Laura. This happened at the previous year's Unwanted Gifts, and I figured I didn't want to repeat the same kind of action at the same event.

Now on to the card for Unwanted Gifts. The prediction contest is going to run for three events: Unwanted Gifts, Fire Within, and All In All IV. The person with the highest total of points at the end of these three shows will get a reward I think is in line with the length of this contest. ;)

I am leaving for vacation on Sunday for two weeks, but I am planning on bringing my computer with me. The hotel allegedly has internet, so my goal is to sit by the pool and write Unwanted Gifts and Fire Within. There won't be too many interludes for those shows, just an update on the Women Wars and the usual year-end world and roster updates. Hopefully when I get back, it will be time for All In All IV, if I haven't written it on the 12 hour plane ride already. :p
