Young has the Queen of the Ring title in her hands, and she takes a few seconds to stare down at the belt before heading to the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Once through the ropes, Deborah snatches a microphone away from a trembling casino staffer to addresses the crowd in her baritone voice, “I’ve spent my whole career doing the bidding of other people. Whether it was Kate Avatar, Amber Allen, or Thea Davis, people always mistake my silence for weakness. Well…no more!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Some in the audience cheer as Deborah roars, but even those that make no noise are captivated by her presence, “I’ve been to hell and back to get here, but now it is time for Deborah Young! Now it is time to serve only me!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Young shifts her attention to the title in her clutches, “Some of you might be wondering why I took this belt from Kate Avatar at All In All IV. The reason is simple, </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>this</em></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> is all Kate has ever cared about, and taking </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>this</em></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> is the only way to get her attention. Hell Cat acknowledges the loud cheers from the fans with a brief nod before making a beeline to the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Keeping a watchful eye on Young as she steps through the ropes, Avatar slowly approaches the 248-pound wrestler while asking for a microphone from a nearby staffer. Right as Kate is about to speak, Young thrusts the Queen of the Ring belt towards Hell Cat.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Her face full of suspicion, Avatar looks down at the title and then back up at Young, “Debbie, I don’t know why you saved me at All In All IV, but if this is another elaborate trap, you should know…I’ve survived worse. Still, I just want to say…thank you.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The crowd cheers Hell Cat’s proclamation and Kate tries to take the belt from Deborah, but Young keeps her strong grip on the gold.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “No traps, no games, no gimmicks. I’ll let you hold it for now, but in return, I want a shot at Bitter Harvest so I can beat you for it. You owe me at least that.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> While Avatar processes Deborah’s words, the two women engage in a small tug of war over the belt, until Hell Cat mouths “Okay” at Young, and 248-pound wrestler immediately releases the Queen of the Ring title from her grasp.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/m1TODO6.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BtwT5LL.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “Well ain’t this a bunch of bull shit!” Sans music, Sista Kass stands on the stage, flanked by Thea Davis, “If anyone’s next in line for a title shot, it’s me!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Kass pauses for chants of ‘Not a killer!’ from the fans, her rage growing with each repeated iteration, “You can all kiss my ass! I didn’t lose! I got cheated! I want MY rematch to…”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Davis moves in front of her hired gun and points at the two women in the ring, “What Kass meant to say is that we aren’t afraid of anyone, especially a fluke champion and someone that was never good enough for Generations. And we’ll show you how tough we are when we face you two in a tag match tonight!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Kass’ eyebrows arch as she turns to question the Englishwoman, which is all the invitation Deborah needs. Young quickly stalks up the ramp and bowls over Thea before Davis even knows what hit her. Still full of anger from the crowd’s taunts, Kass attacks Deborah, and the two behemoths brawl as Kate approaches the scene.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Thea rises to her feet and grabs a nearby steel chair, but before she can strike Young, Hell Cat picks the Englishwoman up for a Dark Phoenix Driver into the ramp. Quickly descending into a wild brawl, Claire and Kathy lay into one another as their respective tag team partners look on from the floor. The presence of Laura and Ariel effectively neutralizes the threat of interference in this no disqualification bout, at least for the first ten minutes of action.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> McMahon, her face glowing as she takes pleasure in inflicting pain upon her opponent, gets the best of Winters with an uppercut then goes to the outside to retrieve a weapon. Trying to give her tag team partner time to recover, Flame gets in Kathy’s face, only to receive a chair shot to the head for her troubles.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As McMahon reenters the ring, Claire looks to hit the Athena Warrior with a spinning heel kick, but with Laura downed, Breaks does not hesitate to sneak in from behind and chop block the Ice Woman’s knees. Winters staggers back to her feet, but eats a Glittering Jawbreaker from McMahon, who holds the steel chair across her knees to add extra impact.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The result is blood flowing from Claire’s forehead, and the referee quickly calls for the bell, even though Kathy lords over Winters, apparently not done with the challenger yet.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner via Drawing First Blood and Still the Athena Warrior: Killer Kathy McMahon</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: D</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </DIV></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Kathy picks up the Ice Woman for another Glittering Jawbreaker, but before she can strike, a recovered Flame runs into the ring to a pop from the crowd. McMahon sees the former Queen of the Ring coming and prepares a punch, but Laura is too fast and levels the Athena Warrior with a Flame Fire Kick. A charging Ariel meets the same fate to another round of cheers from the now hot crowd, leaving the redhead in the ring to check on Claire while Jawbreaker lick their wounds and retreat up the ramp.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Segment Rating: D+</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/fzOUm1W.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/dBBDsXj.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The video screen above the stage cuts to the locker room, where smugly satisfied Hoshiko Tagawa and Selina Svelte stand holding their Deuces Wild belts.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “Tag…team…champions. Generation NOW, tag team champions,” Svelte smiles at Tagawa, and the Japanese technician responds with accented English.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “Now that we’ve gotten rid of our worthless leader, we run this place!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Selina nods and then turns to the camera with a look of derision on her face, “It seems that Sandra and Charity are too…preoccupied to have their rematch tonight, not like you dumb fans deserve to see us in action anyway.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Back in the theater, the crowd responds to this taunt with boos while Svelte continues, “That means me and Hoshiko have the night off. Not helping matters is a distinct lack of flow to the action, but the fans are still proud to voice their support for Miyoshi, even if they see her as the clear underdog in the bout.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Punnen tries to cheat her way to victory by pulling hair, gouging eyes, and testing the limits of the referee’s counts, but this bullying does not pay off as Emiko refuses to give up. No, how could you? Look at you. Perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect…everything. Well, it’s time someone took you down a notch, dirtied you up. You want to know the secrets of the Lady? While both women put in good performances, it is Joanna that stands head and shoulders above them, using her overt sexuality and flexibility to entice the crowd while stringing together enough believable offense to make this more than just a glorified burlesque show.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> A slimmed-down Ursula is only slightly behind Silver, and the Mayan Mauler’s brawling style is a nice contrast to the high-flying attacks of the other three wrestlers in the ring. Still, Saez’s uncontrollable rage throws her off her game as she whales on Yo Ho!.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Ursula even manages to hit Silver with the Saez Splitter, but instead of trying to strip off Joanna’s clothes, the Mayan Mauler goes for the pin. <p>So, can Kate put the eye-candy matches as main event with dignity intact? That seems to be the way to win this darn regional battle... <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<p>You know, one thing that's not coded into TEW are tweeners. Which makes sense; the audience doesn't actually feel neutral about any wrestler (that matters, at least). A tweener's just able to go back and forth from face to heel rapidly, at least until they find their equilibrium. Stone Cold stopped being a tweener by the time of the McMahon feud, if not immediately after WrestleMania 13. Anyone else, like a Cena or Reigns who get the "yay!/sucks!" reaction isn't really a tweener, that's just stale gimmick/vocal fanbase dislike/X-Pac heat.</p><p> </p><p> I bring this up because your current portrayal of Deborah Young seems to be classic tweener to me. She stole the DPW Queen of the Ring belt, which is heel-worthy. She teamed with your face champion, though. She's declaring herself independent of outside influences, which have generally lead her in a heel direction. She's still a monster in terms of her size, so she's a natural monster heel. <p>Chapter 30 Flashback: Keep Your Friends Close</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Twenty months earlier…</em></p><p>

</p><p><span>http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg</span></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While standing in the labyrinth of hallways backstage at Piper Casino, Kate Avatar takes in a deep breath to collect herself. Firing Amy Galaxy had not been easy, but Kate knows that in this business, these types of tough choices are part of the job.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rounding a corner, Hell Cat finds the door to the DPW locker room and sticks her head in, “Debbie, I need to talk with you.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Young takes only a few moments to join Avatar in the hallway, and there is a combination of annoyance and resignation across the face of the 248-pound wrestler, “I’m guessing we’re not out here to talk about my coming Queen of the Ring title reign.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well, that’s all in…”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Kate, your promises are worth about as much as the toilet paper I wipe my ass with, so don’t bother making one you’ll just change your mind on tomorrow. Just cut to the point.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hell Cat’s eyes narrow as she glares at the woman standing across from her, “As you know, Debbie, we fired Juliette King before the show, and I just got done letting Amy Galaxy go.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Uh huh,” Deborah crosses her arms and waits for Avatar to continue.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You know money’s been tight lately, so this isn’t anything personal.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Right…”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“But why I’m really here is I wanted to give you a choice. We can either release you straight up, or keep you on the sidelines for a while. I have this great plan for…”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Before Kate can finish with her thought, Young holds up a hand, “Wait, how long is ‘a while?’”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well…maybe until All In All III, maybe a couple months after that.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Deborah lets out a loud sigh and rolls her eyes, “Kate, you really expect me to sit around and wait for you to decide when you </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>might</em></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> want to use me?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Look, we’d be willing to pay you for All In All III whether we used you or not. You’d still be working with CWWF, so I’m not worried about you getting ring rust, but if you want to leave, I understand.” Young opens her mouth to respond, but Kate cuts her off, “You should know that your return would be a big deal. You would turn face to be the big equalizer against Amber, Emma and Thea.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Gee, how original…” Deborah gives her boss one more eye roll before unfolding her arms, “Kate, you know why I’ve spent the past six years of my life chasing your brass rings?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Avatar holds back her desire to scream at Young to shake her head ‘No.’</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“When I first debuted in BSC, that crowd ate me alive. I didn’t know a monkey flip from a suicide dive, but you didn’t blink an eye. You kept pushing me, telling me I would learn, and I did. You stood up for me in front of the locker room, in front of Marilyn, in front of Honey. I’ve gone farther in this business than I ever thought I could've…because of you…but I’m f*cking done. When you actually have a plan for me, maybe I’ll pick up the phone.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Deborah brushes past Kate on her way back into the locker room to collect her things, while Avatar remains standing in the hallway, her scowl a mix of anger and disappointment.</div><p></p>

I really should have tested this out when the stakes weren't so high, but I remember from my BSC playthrough, and mvargus' diary, that Eye Candy matches get a severe penalty if they are put in the main event slot. It makes sense if they lower overall heat and can't go more than 10 minutes, but I'm not willing to risk finding out (yet). Plus, the whole betrayal of Kate's ideals thing, yada yada. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="kingjames" data-cite="kingjames" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41787" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>You know, one thing that's not coded into TEW are tweeners. I agree that Young is definitely in the tweener spot (which falls into a gray zone that the game doesn't really cover). To be honest, the resolution for her isn't 100% finalized, but she is listed a face on the roster (I don't think she would have come out to save Kate or given the Queen of the Ring title back without a beatdown otherwise). She had one big face run in BSC, but as with most monsters (see: Big Show, Kane) it's hard to keep them interesting if they need to look vulnerable as most face do.</p><p> </p><p> The image of Anne's ghost haunting Cat Quine like Jacob Marley made me laugh way more than it should. Yeah, I started DPW not wanting to do any Eye Candy matches, but the temptation for cheap heat/sugar rush is too great, and it's a nice way to show Kate compromising her ideals to stay afloat.</p><p> </p><p> I will also note that Electric Dreamer is the only wrestler that doesn't speak at least some basic English at this point (not that the lower midcard Japanese wrestlers have had a lot of promo time to explore this), but I'm hoping she'll learn soon. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>The Future of DPW: You Decide!</p><p> </p><p>

So as most of you might now, I'm at a crossroads when it comes to continuing this diary past All In All V. Some recent, earth shattering developments in the game world (I just booked Ashes in the Fall) have renewed my interest in keeping this going. At the same time, the most recent patch has made running a local promotion extremely difficult, and DPW just received the dreaded "Shape up or go bankrupt" notice.</p><p> </p><p>

As such, I'd like to get feedback on some decisions I have to make. The link to the survey is below, but the main things I am looking to get feedback on are the following:</p><p> </p><p>

1. Should DPW take out a loan or sell an ownership stake to raise funds?</p><p>

<em>This would basically be a storyline device to explain editing the database to give DPW between $50k and $100k. Without this, this diary will wrap up with All In All V, as the company will likely be bankrupt soon thereafter.</em></p><p> </p><p>

2. Should I play under version 1.36 or version 1.37 of the game?</p><p>

<em>This is a bit in the weeds of game mechanics, but the changes in version 1.37 of the game make it so that companies can not earn more than 0.1% of popularity gain for non-televised events, versus 0.3% previously. With DPW already on a razor's edge when it comes to the regional battles, going with version 1.37 would be taking the difficulty level up to almost impossible. While part of me wants to keep playing under version 1.36 (since these are the rules I've been playing under the whole time), another part of me says stuff like this happens in the real world, and if everyone is playing under these new rules, I should too. I should also note I've already simulated Ashes in the Fall under version 1.37, so no going back on that one.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<a href="https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BLHRC7T" rel="external nofollow">The Future of DPW Survey</a></p><p> </p><p>

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these two questions, and don't hesitate to share your opinion.</p>

I've answered the poll for you. Just a comment: To me, DPW is its story first, and game second. If the engine doesn't help you tell the story that you want it doesn't matter if every other player in the world uses the most recent patch. I hadn't even noticed these problems but I feel inclined as well to roll back to the previous patch version now.

“Maybe when we’re done here…so how have things been going in DPW?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Um…” Claire stares down at the pen in David’s hand, “I’m guessing this is all on the record, huh?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A thin smile comes over the reporter’s lips, “Yes, though this part I’ll probably use for a separate article that won’t mention you as the source at all.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Okay. I mean, it’s good. I’m a little worried about the money situation…”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

David’s ears perk up, “Tell me more about that.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well, Kate’s been spending a lot lately, increasing production values, dubbing in music to the online videos, hiring more people. I just don’t see how it’s sustainable, but she’s the boss, and I hope she knows what she’s doing.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Good…good,” Jacobs scribbles furiously before looking back up at Winters, “and career-wise, are things playing out as you hoped?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Claire sighs, “I think by now everyone knows the push I was in line for if BSC hadn’t closed down. Obviously, Laura’s moved ahead of me in that department…but that’s okay. She’s earned it. I just have to keep working hard and eventually it will be my time.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I see. At DPW’s last show, you had a title match against Kathryn McMahon. It seems like Kate booked it to keep everything pretty even until Laura stepped in, only for that to backfire. This was your chance to finally win a singles title, and a lot of people say you dropped the ball. What are your thoughts on how that match ended?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Claire sits a little more straight up, as if slipping into character, “Well, I’m not happy about it, but that wasn’t Laura’s fault…she was just trying to help me, and we’re going to show Ariel and Kathy why you don’t mess with Fire N Ice.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Ah yes, speaking of that, it seems those two got the better of you and Laura again by the end of the night by attacking your partner when you were nowhere in sight. Where were you when that went down?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Winters blinks a few times before responding, “Where was I? I had…gone home for the night. I was so mad about the end of the match earlier that I just wanted to get out of there. I never expected Ariel and Kathy to jump Laura like that, but that’s why we’re going to kick their asses at Bitter Harvest.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Right, at Bitter Harvest, you will have the chance for that revenge when you and Laura face off against Ariel and Kathryn. The winning team advances to the Venus Tournament to fight against each other in the semifinal. This is a tournament Laura’s previously won, and that launched her to a long title reign. I’m sure the fans would be behind her when forced to choose between you two. How would you compete against your partner in that kind of environment?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The corners of Claire’s mouth turn slightly downwards, “Yes…Laura certainly is loved by the fans, but whether they are cheering for me or not, my job is to go out there and show why I deserve their respect. Honestly, I can’t wait. It’s one thing to spar against each other in the gym, it’s a whole other animal to go at it 100% when everything is on the line.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It almost sounds like you’re looking past Jawbreaker,” David’s smile morphs into something resembling a snake looking at its prey,</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Winters’ voice cracks a little as she responds, “Oh, of course I am not looking past Ariel and Kathy, but…yeah, it’s just nice to think of what would happen if me and Laura collide.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The reporter finishes writing and looks up at Winters, “I think that should be all I need. You can expect to see the article up sometime next week.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Ice Woman’s body relaxes and she slumps back down in her chair, “And you think this will help increase AAA’s interest in signing me?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It never hurts to have your name out there. I know they’ve been scouting you, the walk-out is water under the bridge. With Tiffany Jade’s signing, Cat Quine is seeing that there is a market for strike-based, MMA-inspired wrestlers, and you fit that bill to a T.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Claire manages to smile as she starts picking through her food again, “I appreciate you giving me this opportunity. Hopefully it doesn’t blow up in my face.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

David nods then puts his notebook back in his bag, “Don’t worry about it, it won’t. I have a bunch of different aliases I use on my site and this will be posted under one of those. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>And</em></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> there’s no such thing as bad press. Well, I better get going. SWF is having a taping at the MGM tonight and I’ve heard rumblings that something big is in the works.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Eisen finally going to start a Women’s division?” Winters doesn’t bother hiding the mocking tone in her voice.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I doubt it, but who knows. Stranger things have happened in this business,” Jacobs looks towards the restaurant door and then back at Claire. “It’s been a pleasure. And if you learn anything more about DPW’s finances, don’t hesitate to let me know.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

David gives one final nod at Winters, and Claire watches the reporter leave before biting down on a forkful of macaroni salad.</div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<p>Big thanks to everyone that voted and commented on the survey! The overwhelming consensus was to take a loan/investment and use patch 1.36 (or more specifically, any patch I felt like using <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />). I am leaning towards a loan right now, and it <em>will</em> come from an in-game character. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Dr_Avalanche" data-cite="Dr_Avalanche" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41787" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I've answered the poll for you. Just a comment: To me, DPW is its story first, and game second. I hadn't even noticed these problems but I feel inclined as well to roll back to the previous patch version now.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah, I think that's the way I'm going to look at it from now on. Chapter 30: Ain’t Nothin’ But a Gangsta Party

Dark Phoenix Wrestling Presents…Bitter Harvest

Live from the John C Fremont High School Gym

Los Angeles, California

Saturday, Week 1, June 2019

Attendance: 131

Pre-Show Match #1: Emiko Miyoshi vs Sarah Sparkell (aka Sarah Taylor)

VS
http://i.imgur.com/OKb0Trl.jpg

Now wrestling under her real last name, the former Ms. Taylor puts in a disappointing performance considering her pedigree as a Cat Lair’s graduate. Some of this could be due to not having wrestled since her release from AAA four months earlier, or performing in front of a new set of fans, but unfortunately for the early arrivers, Sarah is horribly off her game as she fights against Emiko.

With the inexperienced Miyoshi in charge, the match has a noticeable lack of flow, though the Japanese Cruiserweight is able to earn the backing of the fans with her high-flying moves. After seven minutes of warming up the audience, Emiko ends the proceedings with the Miyoshi Cradle, picking up the win over her bubbly opponent.

On a makeshift projector screen set-up near the hallway where the wrestlers enter the gym from, Marie Punnen is shown backstage talking on the phone. While the crowd can not hear the person on the other end of the line, Marie comes in loud and clear.

“I’m just sick of losing, you know, sick of not getting opportunities. I feel like no matter what I do, it doesn’t matter.”

Punnen pauses for a moment to listen before speaking again, “I know…I know. You’re right, I need to make my own chances.”

After another brief pause, Marie nods her head, “Don’t worry, I got you. Thanks for always having my back.”

Pre-Show Match #2: Glorious Gloria vs Nami Genda

VS

Displaying a lack of chemistry that is unfortunate considering their feud, Gloria and Genda lay into each while their respective tag team partners watch the action from the gym floor. The former bodybuilder acts as the bully for most of the match, taunting Nami with shouts of “Your kind doesn’t belong here!” which the Japanese Cruiserweight responds to with a series of kicks.

As the match progresses, Gloria repeatedly tries to put Genda in the Glorious Full Nelson, to no avail. On the fourth attempt, Nami manages to counter her opponent’s submission with a running bulldog, then jumps to the top rope to line the former bodybuilder up for flying double knees.

Just as the Japanese Cruiserweight is about to leap, Monster Ishimura climbs up to the ring apron and pushes Nami down from her perch, forcing the watchful referee to disqualify Gloria.

Glorious Monsters waste no time in beating down the prone Genda until Kaori Mochizuki runs into the ring. Ishimura tries to stop the charging brawler, but Kaori clotheslines the 284-pound wrestler to the mat with ease. Turning her attention to the fuming Gloria, Mochizuki points at the former bodybuilder and shouts, “Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?!”

Gloria tries to attack, but Kaori blocks the blow and counters with the Ichihara Plunge, sending her foe to the canvas with a resounding crash. While Mochizuki checks on Nami, Glorious Monsters regroup on the outside before retreating backstage.

Show Opening:

http://i.imgur.com/XEjtSQu.jpg

With a pair of speakers set up near the hallway entrance playing Phil Vibert’s intro-music as loudly as possible, the audience pops at the appearance by the former owner of DAVE.

Vibert makes no effort to acknowledge these cheers, heading straight for the ring with a microphone in hand instead, “First off, there’s been a lot of rumors circulating online about what a certain person might do to mess with our show tonight. Let me tell you, I’ve hired the best security money can buy, and they are posted outside this gym to make sure no one can take their own failure out on DPW.”

The fans applaud Vibert’s statement, the allusion to GSW and Brother Grimm being clear, “Now, with that out of the way, let’s really get down to business. There seems to be some people around here who forget who’s in charge, who forget who
actually
owns this company. Kate Avatar, bring yourself and that title out here right now!”

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

While the crowd murmurs,
starts to play, and Hell Cat walks out with Queen of the Ring belt slung across her shoulder.

Looking slightly annoyed, Kate lifts her microphone up, “Phil, what’s this about? I have a match…”

“Yes, a match. A match I didn’t book! What makes you think you can just give Deborah Young a title match? I’ll have you know that
I’ve
put Deborah in the Venus Tournament, so she can
earn
her way to a title shot just like everybody else. Her quarterfinal match is up next, but you will still defend your status as Queen of the Ring in tonight’s main event!”

Phil pauses for dramatic effect, and Kate can’t help but roll her eyes, “Yes, this crowd deserves to see that killer, Kass, get her rematch, but just to make things fair to both of you, it will be the second-ever Iron Maiden match, and anyone that dares interfere will be immediately fired!”

Vibert paces in a small circle around the ring as he looks at every part of the now-hot audience before stepping down to the floor. As he passes a perturbed Hell Cat, Phil leans in and whispers, “Now that’s how you run a company.”

Match #1: Deborah Young vs Thea Davis – Venus Tournament Quarterfinal

http://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpg
VS
http://i.imgur.com/BtwT5LL.jpg

Quickly descending into a wild brawl, Deborah Young takes her frustrations at being denied a shot at Kate Avatar’s Queen of the Ring title out on Thea Davis. Barely maintaining order, referee Gregory Chapman has to warn Young several times after the 248-pound wrestler refuses to stop beating on her opponent as Chapman’s five-count approaches.

The referee’s intervention allows Davis brief respites from Deborah’s punishment, the larger wrestler interspersing her punches with deep shouts of “This is just the beginning of my vengeance, Thea!”

As the action progresses, Davis begins to get in more offense, Deborah slowing down after having expended so much energy at the start of the match. Thea even manages to connect with an Axe Kick to the back of Young’s head, but Deborah impressively throws the Englishwoman off of her in the ensuing pin attempt at only the count of one.

Breathing heavily, the 248-pound wrestler renews her assault on the member of Generations, who greatly misses any possible help an absent Sista Kass could have provided. With Thea down in the corner, Young whales away, trying to open a cut on Davis’ forehead. This time, when the referee warns Deborah, Young shoves him hard to the mat.

With the only authority in the match temporarily incapacitated, Thea takes this opportunity to roll to the floor to grab a steel chair, but once back in the ring, Deborah dares Davis to hit her. The Englishwoman does swing, but instead of hitting her opponent, Thea strikes the canvas and then tosses the chair to a confused Young. Just as Gregory Chapman regains his senses, Davis flops to the mat. The referee takes one look at the chair in Deborah’s hands and then the apparently knocked out Thea before calling for the bell.

Winner via Disqualification and Advancing to the Venus Tournament Semifinals: Thea Davis

Match Rating: D+

</DIV>

Quickly retreating out of the ring, Thea grabs a microphone and looks back at the red-faced wrestler in the ring.

“Deborah, there’s one thing you forgot. No matter how much smoke and mirrors you pull out, I will always be smarter than you!”

Davis drops the microphone while the boos from the crowd grow in volume, but the Englishwoman has to hurriedly scamper to the back as Young climbs to the floor with murderous intent in her eyes.

In what appears to be footage from earlier in the day, Velvet Suarez is shown on the projector screen standing next to Ursula Saez in the locker room.

http://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

“I want to know Ursula, I want to know why you abandoned me at Red Alert! We were so close to winning, but you just left me there!”

http://i.imgur.com/x5SF8WV.jpg

Saez turns to the incredulous Velvet and shakes her head, “You want to know why? Why do you think?! I’m done playing nice! We’ve done everything we’re supposed to, but it’s gotten us nowhere! Now you’re going to stand there and make it out like I was in the wrong?! You can go on doing what
they
want you to do, but as far as I’m concerned, that makes you dead weight. I’m cutting you loose, but if you’ve got the guts, meet me in the ring tonight, and I’ll show you what a real Revolución looks like!”

Match #2: Ursula Saez vs Velvet Suarez

http://i.imgur.com/x5SF8WV.jpg
VS
http://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

As the former tag team partners square off, a strong contingent of Suarez fans chant for the purple-clad luchadora, much to the annoyance of the Mayan Mauler. From there, the match progresses at an even pace, neither wrestler willing to open herself up against a foe that knows her so well.

While Velvet looks to soar, Ursula aims to keep her opponent grounded with a series of blows, not hesitating to throw in a cheap shot when the referee’s view is obstructed.

Playing the role of underdog, Suarez fights back, sending Saez end over end with a flying head scissors. Velvet moves to follow up, but Ursula deftly picks her up for the Saez Splitter, only for Suarez to kick out at two.

Nearly pulling her hair out, the Mayan Mauler lets out a shout, but that is interrupted as she is rolled up from behind by an opportunistic Velvet. The referee starts to slap the mat, but Ursula gets her shoulder up right before the count of three.

Resetting, Saez brawls her way to the upper hand, but unable to put away Suarez, she resorts to stripping the cover off of the top turnbuckle. As Velvet stands dazed, the Mayan Mauler tries to whip her foe into the corner, but the purple-clad wrestler reverses, and Ursula crashes to the mat after hitting her chest on the exposed steel.

Climbing to the top rope, Suarez plays to the cheering crowd then leaps for the Purple Haze Moonsault. Connecting, Velvet hooks Ursula’s leg and gets the pin.

Winner via Pinfall: Velvet Suarez

Match Rating: E+

</DIV>

While Velvet celebrates her victory in front of the appreciative fans, Ursula gets to her feet and confirms the result with the referee. Saez takes one look at her former tag team partner, and after letting out a snort, rolls under the ropes to the floor.

As Ursula nears the hallway to the back, she turns to some taunting members of the crowd and tells them, “Don’t worry, you’ll never see me here again!”

Once Saez and Velvet have disappeared backstage, the projector screen shows a twitching Sandra Shine climbing down a set of poorly lit stairs. The blonde looks from side to side and, at the bottom, finds herself to be in some sort of basement. Searching the walls, Sandra discovers a blood-splattered nurse’s hat, which she tosses to the ground when she hears someone from across the room cough.

http://i.imgur.com/wnxe88m.jpg

“And I didn’t think you’d know where to look?” Roxy Kitten turns around, the ornamental knife still in her hands.

“The altar of sacrifice…it could be only one,” Shine stares down at the table in the middle of the room, but finds no trace of her tag team partner.

Roxy glides over Sandra with a twisted smile on her face, “Maybe there’s hope for you yet. Too bad it’s too late for your precious Charity. I’m afraid that now that you’ve found me, it’s your turn to join her.”

http://i.imgur.com/YktNqrZ.jpg

Shine looks at Kitten with a spasm of confusion, until Charity emerges from the darkness and hits her partner from behind. Roxy orders Dark to pick Sandra up, and the entranced Charity complies. Before the feed cuts out, the two women are shown strapping the knocked-out Shine to the table.

Back in the gym, Selina Svelte and Hoshiko Tagawa make their way to the ring to the sound of M.I.A.’s
.

Both members of Generation NOW wear severe scowls on their faces as they climb through the ropes and a nearby volunteer hands Selina a microphone. “So it looks like those idiots Charity and Sandra are too busy for their rematch, yet again. We
should
get another night off because of that, but that asshole Phil Vibert has ordered us to defend our titles, even though no one can beat the best tag team in the game today!”

Svelte hands the microphone to Tagawa, who wipes her face before speaking, “We dare anyone in the back who want to get their asses kicked to come out here, and we’ll put you out of your misery.”

Hoshiko does not have to wait long for an answer to her open challenge, as Joanna Silver and Polly Amorous bounce out to a loud pop from the fans.

Joanna spies the belts across the waists of Generation NOW and shouts to the crowd, “Avast ye! There’s gold to be had!”

Even with a shot at the tag titles to come, Silver and Amorous still take their time posing for the audience, bending over for their howling fan club before finally heading to the ring.

Match #3: Generation NOW © vs Yo Ho! for the DPW Deuces Wild Tag Team Titles

VS
http://i.imgur.com/lGDXjoF.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/oMX9Z9a.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/sZpWAMg.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/sZpWAMg.jpg

Starting the match off against Joanna, Selina can not help but treat the gyrating pirate as a joke. After swatting Silver’s offense away, Svelte takes the adult entertainer down to mat with several holds, but relents each time, telling Joanna that she wouldn’t want to ruin her ‘real’ career.

Selina continues with her mocking tone until Joanna slaps her hard across the face, leaving a red palm print on the cheek of the blonde technician. Seeing Svelte’s anger rise, Silver runs away to avoid her opponent as best she can, turning the action into something straight out of a “Benny Hill” sketch.

The absurdist comedy of the match only detracts from the crowd’s enjoyment slightly, as they still love seeing Yo Ho! frustrate Generation NOW even if Joanna is the only one able to draw laughs.

Eight minutes in, the action breaks down after Polly hits Hoshiko with a Bronco Buster in Yo Ho!’s corner. Selina moves in to save her partner, but Silver intervenes. All four women brawl in the middle of the ring, causing the referee to lose track of who the legal wrestlers are.

Forcing the two teams to go back to their respective corners, Selina and Joanna volunteer to face off once again, with Svelte immediately going for the Prawn Armlock. Ever the flexible one, Silver manages to keep Selina from cinching on the submission hold tight, and in the process, forces the technician’s shoulders to the mat.

While the referee counts the pin, Selina remains focused on Joanna’s arm, not realizing what is happening until the crowd shouts out “Three” along with Gregory Chapman.

Joanna and Polly are beside themselves with joy as the referee awards the pair the Deuces Wild belts. Yo Ho! take a few moments to revel in their victory before dancing provocatively with the titles. Amorous lays her belt down on the mat and begins to hump it, while Silver rubs the gold all over her body.

From the gym floor, Selina and Hoshiko blink over and over again at each other, not believing that they’ve just been defeated by these two adult entertainers. In stunned silence, Generation NOW make their way to the back, unable to even bring themselves to give the new champions a good beat down as punishment for their triumph.

Once Yo Ho! have completed their Rated-R celebration, the projector screen shows the back of Simony Sentinel as the purple haired wrestler stands on the roof of Piper Casino, dressed in a trench coat, with the lights of Las Vegas twinkling off in the distance.

Match #4: Electric Dreamer (w/ Seduction) vs Simony Sentinel – Venus Tournament Quarterfinal

VS
http://i.imgur.com/NcYZPXH.jpg

While the fans are split 75-25 in favor of Simony, the volume of shouts coming from Seduction drowns out any support the audience might provide either wrestler as the match begins.

Engaging in a series of high spots, the Violent Violet and Electric Dreamer throw caution to the wind, and the crowd pops for each risky move. After Dreamer sends Simony to the mat with a superplex, the white and gold-clad luchadora tries to hit her opponent with a Frog Splash, but Sentinel rolls out of the way.

The Violent Violet takes her turn on the top rope, but Dreamer rises to her feet just as Simony jumps. To ‘oooohs’ from the crowd, Dreamer catches Sentinel and effortlessly tosses the purple haired wrestler onto her shoulders. The luchadora looks to hit Simony with an Electric Chair Drop, but the former Queen of the Ring counters by flipping her foe over into a pin.

With Seduction screeching from the floor, Electric Dreamer kicks out at two, and the combatants begin engaging in a series of roll ups that each one breaks up just in the nick of time. Still going at full tilt, Dreamer tries to throw Simony to the floor, but Sentinel holds on tight to the ropes, using them as leverage to spin around and kick her opponent in the head.

As Dreamer staggers backwards, Simony lines the luchadora up for UltraViolet, but is tripped up as Seduction reaches under the rope to grab her ankle. Electric Dreamer recovers and looks to pick up Sentinel for the E.M.P., but notices the Violent Violet yelling at her manager.

Dreamer leans over the ropes to ask Seduction what happened, but receives an angry admonishment from Darryl Devine’s widow for not taking advantage of this opportunity. Following this direction, Dreamer tries to grab Simony, but the Violent Violet is prepared and counters into a spike DDT.

While Seduction shakes her head, Simony climbs back to the top rope and hits Dreamer with the Sentinel Strike for the win.

by Veruca Salt fills the gym and the crowd boos the arrival of Ariel Breaks and Killer Kathy McMahon once the participants in the previous match have exited the room.

In an attempt to stoke the crowds’ anger, Ariel takes a bow, while the Athena Warrior remains stone-faced behind her before the two wrestlers climb through the ropes.

“I guess all of you don’t like Laura Flame getting a taste of her own medicine. She can blindside my partner, she can take me out, but the second we go for a measure of revenge, we’re the ones you boo?” Breaks puts on her best expression of indignation as the fans continue to jeer her.

“Divide and conquer…divide and conquer. How sweet it is to hold a mirror up to your hypocrisy, Fire and Ice. You act like you should just beat us because these people cheer for you. Well, how loudly do you think they’ll cheer when I beat you? How much do you think they’ll scream when I cave your faces in?” McMahon keeps her tone deep and measured as she speaks, but her words are no less effective.

Laura Flame and Claire Winters emerge from the hallway, their eyes squinted at the two women in the ring, “Kathy, I don’t know what psycho ward you crawled out from, but there’s no hypocrisy to what we do.” Winters makes an emphatic motion to herself and her tag team partner as they approach the ring, while the fans continue to cheer them on, “We back each other up, plain and simple. What you do is jump one of us when the other isn’t around, instead of taking us on, face-to-face. Well tonight, you’ve got no choice, because there ain’t nothing easy about what we are about to do to you!”

As Laura and Claire make their way through the ropes, Flame touches the back of her neck as if reminding herself of the pain Jawbreaker inflicted on her at Red Alert. VS
http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/d8b9d8M.jpg

From the outset, it is clear all four wrestlers in the match are out to steal the show. With the intensity ratcheted up, the two teams exchange stiff blows that get the crowd buzzing. The best sequence occurs with Laura and Kathy in the ring, the two foes trying to top the other with a succession of punches that ends with a small trickle of blood flowing from Flame’s forehead.

With the fans heavily invested in the action, Laura tries to hit McMahon with the Flame Fire Kick, but Kathy dodges the strike and counters with a Glittering Jawbreaker. Claire rushes into the fray to break up the pin, but McMahon hears the Ice Woman coming, and rolls off of Flame just as Winters jumps for an elbow drop.

Unable to stop herself, Claire lands with her full force on the stomach of her tag team partner, but has little time to think about this as Kathy drops her with another Glittering Jawbreaker. Standing tall over this scene of carnage, the Athena Warrior covers Laura.

…but Laura kicks out to a pop from the crowd.

Instead of lamenting Flame’s resiliency, Kathy looks to follow up with another attack, but receives a kick to the stomach from her opponent. McMahon rolls to her corner to tag in her partner, and Ariel immediately goes for Breakerfall on Laura.

Caught off-guard, the former Queen of the Ring finds herself being lifted into the air, but Claire recovers to take Breaks out with a spinning heel kick before the member of Jawbreaker can connect with her finisher.

On the ring apron, Kathy stands up, but is instantly sent sprawling to the floor by a running knee strike from Winters.

With the referee shouting at the Ice Woman to get back in her corner, Laura and Ariel face off, each using their supreme athleticism to counter the other’s offense until the member of Fire N Ice slips out of an attempted suplex and pushes Breaks away.

Ariel tries to duck, but she is not fast enough and receives a Flame Fire Kick straight to the jaw. While Breaks stares up at the gymnasium lights, Laura covers her 1 – 2 – 3 for the pin.

Once the video stops playing, the gym fills with the rhythmic beats of the high school’s marching band, the students decked out in full regalia as the squad makes their way into the room. Making a pathway between them, the students spread to the sides of the gym as Sista Kass stomps out from the hallway. Staring menacingly at the members of the audience, Kass starts to shadow box while the band marches out of the gym.

“For those of you new to DPW, the last time I fought in an Iron Maiden match, exactly three years ago, I lost the Queen of the Ring title to the great Tamara McFly. Well…that’s just not going to happen tonight!”

The crowd cheers louder at Kate’s pronouncement as Hell Cat makes her way to the ring, “Kass, you’re so tough you rather pass out than tap out, but you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. Tonight is about sending a message, sending a message to the rest of this business that DPW…that I, won’t be pushed around! With the crowd still buzzing from Kate’s promo, Hell Cat tries to back up her words with punches. While the Queen of the Ring gets the initial advantage, Kass soon unloads with blows of her own, sending Avatar to the mat.

“You shouldn’t be worried about anybody else but me!” Kass snorts as she picks up Kate for Kill Switch, and to the shock of the fans in attendance, easily connects to earn the first fall two minutes into the match.

*Leader 1 – 0: Sista Kass*

Once Hell Cat struggles back to her feet, the referee calls for the action to resume, and Avatar finds herself again wilting under another barrage from the challenger. Before Kate can find a way to fight back, she flies through the air from a release German Suplex by Kass.

After shouting “One!” the 240-pound wrestler goes for the cover, but Avatar manages to kick out at two to avoid falling farther behind.

Digging down deep, Hell Cat finds the strength to grind Kass into a standstill, and both wrestlers keep a watchful eye on the time displayed on a digital board held by a volunteer near the hallway entrance.

Staying in the match by her fingertips, Kate tries to pick up Kass for the Dark Phoenix Driver, but the challenger pushes Avatar away with ease. After surviving another hail of punches, the champion trips Kass and locks in Hell Cat’s Cradle on the 240-pound wrestler.

Kass feigns tapping out, but then rises to her feet with Kate still strapped to her back. With a thunderous crash, the challenger falls backwards, smashing Hell Cat under her large frame.

In the ensuing pin attempt, Avatar just gets her shoulder up before the referee slaps the mat for the third time, and then lets out a shout. With a look of determination in her eyes, Hell Cat takes the fight to her opponent, and for the next twenty minutes the two foes brawl back and forth, first around the ring and then to the outside.

With the fans on their feet cheering each blow, Kate appears to be gaining steam until Kass takes her out with a devastating clothesline on the gym floor. Picking up Hell Cat, the challenger powerbombs Avatar onto the ring apron, appearing to knock out the champion.

Instead of simply letting Kate be counted out, Kass rolls her opponent back into the ring and then grabs a table, “There’s not going to be a rematch this time!”

The crowd pops at hearing Brother Grimm’s entrance music, and looks towards the hallway for the owner of the defunct GSW. Kass joins the fans in turning her attention to the makeshift entryway, but the music continues to play without an appearance by the famous rapper.

Suddenly, Marie Punnen rushes in from the other side of the gym with an aluminum garbage can in hand. At first, Marie appears to be heading for the ring, but at the last second, the street fighter veers left and dents her weapon over the head of Sista Kass.

The audience gasps in shock as Kass staggers backwards, and Punnen follows up by repeatedly bashing the former Queen of the Ring over the head with the metal can until the 240-pound wrestler collapses backwards to the floor.

Marie surveys Kass’ fallen body as the fans boo, while the referee reaches ten to count out the challenger.

*Tie 1 – 1*

Punnen does not wait for Kass to recover, heading for the back with a satisfied smile on her face. Gregory Chapman begins another count, but Kass manages to crawl back into the ring just as the referee reaches eight.

With the digital board passing the twenty-nine-minute mark, Kass knows she can not win the belt on a tie, and struggles through her haze to move towards Kate, but Hell Cat is ready.

When Kass reaches out to pick up Avatar, the reigning Queen of the Ring thrusts an elbow into the challenger’s ribs, and then picks up the 240-pound wrestler for the Dark Phoenix Driver.

As the majority of the crowd cheers, Kass’ head slams into the mat, and Kate covers her opponent for the pin.

*Leader 2 – 1: Kate Avatar*

Just as Kate gets back to her feet, she looks up to see the digital board hit 30:00 and hears the referee call for the bell.

Kate tries to catch her breath as the referee raises her hand. Instead of waiting for the volunteer to come her, Hell Cat rolls out of the ring and snatches the microphone from the middle-aged man.

“Phil Vibert…you may own this company, but I started it! I jumped through your hoops, and that means I’ll defend MY title against whoever I want, whenever I want!”

Avatar finds one of the nearby cameras and stares directly into the lens, “Debbie, we will fight at the Venus Tournament, and no one’s going to stop us. I keep my word, so you damn well better bring it, because you know I will!”

Hell Cat tosses the microphone to the side as the crowd chants her name, while in the background, Sista Kass storms backstage and screams for Marie Punnen to show herself.

This isn't to say her push is over, but Yo Ho! are no longer protected by #SilverisGold. :D

Prediction Contest Results and Card for the Venus Tournament

And we're back! :)

First off, big apologies for the long break in between shows. Just when I was getting in a rhythm, I pulled something in my back last weekend and it made sitting down for an extended period of time, let alone writing, decidely un-fun. I am heading out on vacation today for four days, and I'm not bringing my laptop, so I'm targeting December 31 for getting the Venus Tournament up. After that, we should be back to one show every week, fingers crossed.

With that, here are the results for Bitter Harvest's prediction contest:

1st Place - MisterRomanini: 12 points (congrats on getting the four semifinalists correct!)

2nd Place - kingjames: 11 points

3rd Place (tie) - Theheel: 10 points

3rd Place (tie) - DarEatWorld: 10 Points

4th Place - Dr_Avalanche: 7 points

5th Place - KnowYourEnemy: 4 points

Congrats to MisterRomanini on the narrow win! I'll PM you for your interlude choice shortly.

I'll admit I'm a bit happy to see that only one person got the four tournament semifinalists 100% correct (it turned out to be the deciding factor in the prediction contest), but I was (pleasantly) surprised that so many got Yo Ho! winning the tag titles. I figure it is partly process of elimination, partly how on fire they have been, and partly how well people are paying attention. :p

The Venus Tournament will start a three show prediction contest because I think the prize is big enough to justify it. The prize will be to select the outcome of a match at All In All V, but probably not the match people will think it will be. :)

I think the format is nice. It's clear, and the borders around matches make the text easier to read than those grey quote blocks.

Thanks! I like it too so far, so I think I'll stick with it.

Open Challenge for the DPW Deuces Wild Tag Team Titles

Generation NOW © vs ????

I guess it could end already, but I have a nagging feeling this might be something on the ridiculous side signed Yo-Ho!

Ahhh, so close! :D

Main Event: 30-Minute Iron Maiden Match (No-DQ) for the DPW Queen of the Ring Title - By order of Phil Vibert, anyone who interferes is fired

Kate Avatar © vs Sista Kass

If I had to guess, I'd say we'll see a double-stoppage or double-count when someone gets involved. Either way, a draw is more likely than the other two options on their own.

I'll admit that a draw was a strong consideration, but I wanted to give Kate vs Kass a bit of closure. Marie's interference doesn't accomplish that 100%, but it at least means Kass would have to work her way back into a title shot while still looking good in defeat.

Bonus Questions (one point each)

Will any member of the roster interfere in the main event? Yes - Thea Davis, but I think that someone(s) not on the roster will interfere as well with Kass emerging as the leader of a new group, maybe a QAW invasion group.

Hmmm, not a bad idea. :)

Pre-Show Dark Match

Emiko Miyoshi vs Sarah Sparkell (aka Sarah Taylor)

Not sure Miyoshi's going to be DPW's cuppa, while Sarah Taylor/Sparkell has some upside (and the ability to cut promos in English). Taylor might be getting a push out of the gate, especially if she's been improving in AAA.

While Sarah has talent (I'll chalk her debut match up to new company jitters), she's at F popularity in the South West USA, so she is starting at the bottom of the totem pole in DPW.

Where will DPW finish in June's regional battle? 2nd place

Yo-Ho! and a strong match between Avatar and Kass will help immensely.

Ha! This is pretty match the formula right now, if only I could roll out Kate vs Kass every show without getting bored of it. ;)

I do want to say thank you to everyone that voted in the latest diary of the month awards (even if you didn't vote for DPW). There are a lot of great writers on here, so even being nominated is a big honor for me. Special thanks to kingjames for the event, worker, and match nominations. To be honest, these mean more at this point because these write-ups are a labor of love (and also time intensive) and All In All IV is my favorite show I've done so far (but Kate vs Tamara McFly in the first Iron Maiden match is still my favorite bout).

As a show of appreciation, here are some interesting recent goings-on in DPW's world that some readers might find interesting. :p

The idea of Simony Sentinel, dark avenger, is a great take on her. I feel like your Simony is more gutter punk compared to my Simony's bright pink pop-punk. Which is generally reflective of our respective companies' approaches and thus our ensuing narratives.

Shame that Ursula Saez didn't work out. I imagine she'd become a bit of a locker room cancer? Still, let's see if the points she raised don't have reverberations going forward.

I wonder, if I play my diary for a decade and you play yours for a decade, if poor Sarah Taylor/Sparkell will ever get a damned win between the two of us?

It was great to see GSW making its appearance since you're in LA. It would have been an elephant in the room not to say something (and narratively it really picks up on the world around you and makes it important). What's Brother Grimm doing now that he went out of business?

The nominations were well earned. All in All IV was an epic event, and Kate's one of my favorite characters anywhere on this board. Plus, I feel like those categories have been sorely underused in past voting, and they allow me to share the love between the many worthy diaries that I would all give awards to quite happily.

Let's see how well Velvet does as a solo competitor.

Yo Ho! has to win an actual, standard match? They've been pushed to the moon recently, but I could see a quick title switch to a team that could bring prestige to the belts and who are enhanced by having the championship. Yo Ho! doesn't need hardware to be super popular.

I don't think Kaori even gets a chance to fight in this one, with someone taking her out before the bell can even ring.

Unsanctioned Match from Parts Unknown (fought under Street Fight rules) for the DPW Queen of the Ring Title

Deborah Young vs Kate Avatar ©

I'm really torn on this one. With this being a face vs. face match, either woman might be able to send the crowd home happy. I'm going to go with Kate retaining after a glorious, grueling brawl that ends with both women utterly spent - and vulnerable to a couple of heels taking advantage, leading to Kate and Young forming a short-term team.

Plus: A special retirement thank you from Raven Nightfall.

Bonus Questions (one point each)

One match on the card will not take place. Which one will it be?

The Athena Warrior championship match.

How many titles will change hands during the event?

1, tag titles.

One member of the roster will interrupt Raven Nightfall's retirement celebration for an impromptu match. Which wrestler will it be?

Killer Kass has a lot of aggression to work out at this point, no? And she can draw some major heel heat for messing up Raven's goodbye.

Where will DPW finish in this month's regional battle (out of five)?

Not sure how the face vs. face dynamic might hurt your dynamic. So, 65.

Under Siege: DPW Roster Update and World Overview – June 2019

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

“Of all the nights to forget my computer,” Kate Avatar mumbles to herself as she limps through the hallways of John C Fremont High School in search of her temporary office from earlier in the night.

The beating Hell Cat took in the main event had left its mark on her body, as it always did, but even after icing down her back and neck for several hours, the pain still lingers in her joints. It is this discomfort that caused Kate to head out early from the locker room, without thinking of the laptop still in one of the many classrooms in this cavernous school.

Avatar turns right down a corridor, and spies a light coming through the door at the end of the hallway. Entering the chemistry lab, Hell Cat breathes a sigh of relief as she finds her laptop right where she left it.

With the night mostly gone already, Kate decides to flip open her computer and check on the status of DPW’s roster.

Kate leans back as much as she can in the plastic chair she sits in and thinks about the past six months. All In All IV had been a great success and brought DPW more attention than ever, but this increased profile had a flip-side. Such a good show did not sit well with the other companies trying to claim their share of the South West market, and DPW had suffered as a result.

First, QAW moved their June event to the second Saturday of the month, the original date of Bitter Harvest. Farrah Hesketh then issued a notice to all wrestlers contracted with both companies that if they were not in her promotion’s locker room on that day, they could forget about working for QAW ever again.

Hell Cat responded to these new hostilities by shifting DPW’s annual Los Angeles excursion to the first Saturday of June, only to find that IPW convinced the Simmons Center to cancel the venue’s availability the night of the event. After a scramble, a fan volunteer had gotten in touch with his brother-in-law, the principal of John C Fremont High School, to get permission to use the school that night. Social media had been a saving grace in getting the word out about the last-minute change, but DPW still had to refund two dozen tickets for fans not willing to make the journey to South-Central LA.

As if she didn’t have enough on her mind with Brother Grimm threatening to ruin DPW to anyone that will listen, Kate wonders what her new rivals could try next as she looks at the state of Women’s wrestling around the world.

Beginning her review, Kate starts with the companies that feature only Women's wrestling first.

After a long sigh, Hell Cat turns her computer off and heads out of the classroom, but just as she is about to leave the school, she catches the faint sound of voices coming from the gymnasium.

Slowly peeking her head around the corner, Avatar finds Boss Man Brayfield talking in hushed tones with an unknown figure.

Kate holds tight against the wall for several moments, until Brayfield and the stranger shake hands, and only then does she recognize the second person in the gym, Cliff Anderson, owner of CZCW.
