<p>Scenes from a Battlefield: The Women Wars</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">As a way to mix things up, I thought now would be a good time to give an update on the Women Wars between USPW and NOTBPW.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

NOTBPW dominated the past six months, led by two A rated matches between Sara Marie York and Lauren Easter.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/oB9YuGX.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/Buvzf8d.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Emma Bitch remained champion, cheating her way to victory over all comers at each PPV.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/FFwFUDj.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Everything was going great, until Victoria Stone-McFly decided to let Emma and Sally Anne Christianson main event the final show of the year.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/QojEqW7.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

On the USPW side, Joanne Rodriguez's struggle continues as sometimes the women are left completely off of the card outside of a brief backstage skit, or relegated to the opening act for the company's B show. Momentum is starting to grow, thanks to the A-List versus Angels of Mercy feud.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/fTHNzBq.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Which of course led to the belt finding its way to J-Ro.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/FmC2mqI.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Now, with the contracts of several long-time members of the division expiring, it is a question of how J-Ro will use this roster flexibility to fight back against NOTBPW, or if the powers that be will even give her a choice.</div><p></p>

As Kate trades moves with Tagawa, she can not deny that Phil Vibert definitely has an eye for talent. Hell Cat almost feels bad that no fans are present or that no one is taping this contest, sensing that this match might well be seen someday as the point Tagawa’s career took off.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Firmly in the role of face this time, Avatar struggles to escape the surgical holds of Hoshiko. With Kate showing signs of being worn down, Tagawa capitalizes by slapping on the rolling leglock. Hell Cat screams out in pain, unable to break out of the submission maneuver. Hoshiko yells for Kate to tap, but Avatar refuses, her face turning red as she looks for some way out of this trap.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Kate finds the opening she needs when Hoshiko pulls a little too far back out of frustration. Using her opponent’s momentum as a weapon, Hell Cat manages to roll through the hold, flipping Tagawa over in the process. When the Japanese technician gets back to her feet, she is met by a Dark Phoenix Driver from Kate that is good for the pin.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Winner via Pinfall: Kate Avatar</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: C- (57)</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Pre-Show Last Woman Standing Dark Match: Kaori Mochizuki vs Marie Punnen</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/FnQ2qa4.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>VS</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/rt9PcSQ.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> In what may be a sign of a new policy in DPW, Kaori and Marie are given a chance to settle their dispute from last month in the ring. Ostensibly a Last Woman Standing match, the lack of rules are really just an excuse for the two women to unload on each other without interruption. This contest also acts as a test of Mochizuki and Punnen’s professionalism, in that they still have a job to do in putting on an entertaining match for the fans without actually injuring one another.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The two wrestlers largely succeed on both points, with the action being adequate enough to warm up the fans and neither woman coming out of the stiff battle with any permanent scars. The end comes ten minutes in after Kaori drives Marie through a table with the Ichihara Plunge, leaving Punnen down for the ten count.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Winner via Ten Count: Kaori Mochizuki</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: E</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Show Opening:</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/nXMOvMba2bM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="WWE Themes: Evolution"></iframe></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/m1TODO6.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/BtwT5LL.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Sista Kass rumbles onto the stage, the Queen of the Ring title belt displayed prominently on her right shoulder. Next to her saunters a manically jovial Thea Davis, who holds up her arms before beginning to speak, “The Reign of Flame is dead! Long live the Kasstastrophe!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Thea lets out a little cackle as she continues, “I must say, Ashes in the Fall has to go down as the best day of my life. Not only did Generations finally capture the Queen of the Ring title, but Kate Avatar got what was coming to her!” Davis pauses for the loud boos that rain down from the crowd, her smile morphing into a scowl as the audience starts to taunt her with chants for Hell Cat. “Oh yes, I see all of your accusing stares. I mean, I’m glad someone hit that c*nt over the head, but it bloody hell sure wasn’t me. If you don’t believe me, just wait for later tonight, when Hell Cat will tell you for herself.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The crowd murmurs at this announcement, not sure what to make of Thea teasing an appearance by Kate Avatar. Davis opens her mouth to speak again, but an angry Kass snatches the microphone away, “I don’t give a damn about Kate Avatar, Laura Flame, or this crowd! Tonight’s about me, the CHAMPION, now and forever!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Thea takes a step back, holding out her hands as if trying to placate her hired gun, but </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em> </em></div><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/kEGuHdKn0Lc?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="Led zeppelin - Immigrant Song"></iframe></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> cuts off any attempt at an instant reconciliation.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/52WMMKc.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/1OjidHr.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laura Flame and Claire Winters bask in the thunderous cheers from the crowd for only a moment before turning their attention to the two other women on the stage. “You know, Laura, it’s funny. How long have we been at this? Four years now?” Claire pauses for a nod from her long-time tag team partner. “We’ve been through a lot together. When you became Queen of the Ring, I was thrilled for you. But look at these two,” Winters paces in front of Thea and Kass, the furor of the latter only stoked further by this intrusion, “Kass gets some gold and Thea thinks it belongs to her. Almost like it’s her property...almost like she owns Kass…”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Before Claire can finish, Sista Kass lashes out and knocks the Ice Woman to the ground. Laura immediately thrusts a Flame Fire Kick in the direction of the new champion, but Kass is able to dodge out of the way. Davis then looks to take out Flame with an Axe Kick to the back of the head, but Winters sweeps away the Englishwoman’s legs from her prone position on the stage.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With the crowd brought to their feet by this exchange, Laura engages in a stare down with Kass while Claire recovers. Now outnumbered and with a match still to come later tonight, the 240-pound wrestler looks down at the belt on her shoulder and gives a dismissive wave of her hand before heading backstage. In the background, Davis staggers back to her feet, so Laura and Claire turn around to nail the Englishwoman with a pair of spinning heel kicks.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Flame and Winters give each other a congratulatory high-five and then acknowledge the continued cheers from the fans. After a few more moments of celebrating, the pair turn around, leaving a downed Thea to be helped to the back by two casino staffers.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: C</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Match #1: Jawbreaker vs Ladies Reborn © – Christmas in a Coffin Match for the DPW Deuces Wild Tag Team Titles</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/d8b9d8M.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>VS</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/YktNqrZ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kq95o5v.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/sZpWAMg.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/sZpWAMg.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> While referee Gregory Chapman handles the pre-match introductions, the two tag teams stand opposite each other as casino staffers roll a single coffin down the ramp. The casket is decorated in tassel and holly, bringing a festive touch to such a macabre sight.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Out of the four women in the ring, the sight of the wooden box brings the most pleasure to Sandra, the small blonde’s spastic twitching increasing as the coffin inches closer. On the other end of the spectrum, Kathy McMahon seems oddly put off by this sign of death.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Whatever the reason for the color of her face changing, Killer Kathy does not let her performance suffer, laying into the Ladies Reborn once the referee calls for the bell. McMahon and Ariel display their teamwork, ganging up on Sandra before turning their attention to Charity. Unfortunately for Jawbreaker, their opponents won’t be put down so easily.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> In the opening match for the first time, Shine and Dark appear to take this new responsibility seriously, heating up the crowd by putting their bodies on the line with high-risk aerial moves. After delivering stereo dropkicks that send the two members of Jawbreaker to the theater floor, Charity joins hands with Sandra, using her tag team partner to pick up enough speed to propel herself over the top rope and onto their opponents. Not wanting to be left out of the action, Shine climbs atop a turnbuckle and delivers a splash to Kathy right as McMahon gets back to her feet.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Dark recovers to find all three of the other women in the match down, and heads over to the coffin. Lifting up the lid, Charity takes a step back, horrified, having found a decapitated Barbie doll resting on a pillow in the wooden box. Breaks takes advantage of this momentarily lapse in the gothic blonde’s defense to ram Dark into the casket.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With dreams of recapturing the tag title gold running through her head, Ariel tries to force Charity into the coffin, but at the last moment, Dark is rescued by Sandra, who nails Breaks from behind with a kick to the head. The stunned Ariel falls into the coffin and Charity slams the lid closed just as Kathy rises to her feet.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winners via Closed Casket and Still DPW Deuces Wild Tag Team Champions: Ladies Reborn</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: D-</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> From inside the coffin, Ariel bangs away loudly, yelling for someone, anyone to let her out. Unfortunately for Breaks, the casino staffers begin rolling away the casket before McMahon can open the lid, so Kathy stoically follows the wooden box to the back as the screams of her tag team partner slowly fade away.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With the Ladies Reborn now alone on the theater floor, Sandra puts her hand on Charity’s shoulder as the referee walks over to award the pair their tag title belts. Shine then goes to give Dark her usual space to outstretch her arms, but the black-clad blonde appears unsure of chanting any sort of praise for the Lady.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Just when Charity is about to open her mouth, the large video screen cuts backstage where the lockers of Dark and Shine are shown engulfed in flames, the raspy voice from Ashes in the Fall returning to deliver another ominous message, “If you set fire to the past, you end up with nothing left.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The Ladies Reborn continue to stare up at the screen transfixed as staffers rush into the shot with extinguishers to put out the blaze.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: E-</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match #2: Glorious Monsters vs Velvet Revolución – Winner receives Deuces Wild Tag Team Title shot at Fire Within</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/piZUmbD.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/evDD8Ly.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>VS</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/x5SF8WV.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> While some fans may question exactly what either of these two teams have done in recent months to deserve a Deuces Wild title shot, there is no denying that the stipulation handed down by Phil Vibert has at least added some sort of stakes to this seemingly random matchup. The crowd is firmly behind Velvet and Ursula, even as the Mayan Mauler puts in a performance that can best be described as sluggish.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With Monster Ishimura still unable to perform more than three moves without becoming winded, Gloria has to pick up the slack for her team, but the burden is too much to bear when facing the coordinated attacks from Suarez and Saez. Deciding she has little choice but to save her own skin, the former bodybuilder tags in her still wheezing partner, who Ursula immediately sends to the mat with a sloppy clothesline.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Realizing she may be letting her only chance at the tag titles slip by, Gloria looks to reenter to fray, but Velvet swoops in to flip the former bodybuilder to the theater floor with flying head scissors. With Ursula’s encouragement, Suarez climbs to the top rope and delivers a Purple Haze Moonsault to the 284-pound wrestler laying in a pool of sweat in the middle of the ring. Ursula quickly covers Ishimura, and the referee counts 1 – 2 – 3 for the win.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Winners via Pinfall: Velvet Revolución</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: E+</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> </strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As Velvet Revolución celebrate their victory, Gloria and Ishimura storm to the back, the former bodybuilder especially distraught at her team taking another loss.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/x2Dq4f8.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> For the fans in attendance, former USPW manager Seduction is announced as being in the crowd, and the volunteer cameraman quickly finds her so she can smile and blow a kiss to the cheering audience.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: C-</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match #3: Emiko Miyoshi and Nami Genda vs Yo Ho! – Lingerie Match</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/7A68NMO.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/CgpxqGh.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>VS</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/lGDXjoF.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/oMX9Z9a.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With three more matches still to go on the night, the audience gets a breather with this contest between four women wearing less than the average Victoria’s Secret model on the runway. Joanna Silver is more than at home in this environment, and her swashbuckling attitude gets the fans engaged early on.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The only drawback to the action is the lack of drama involved, though with the amount of skin on display, this is only a minor quibble from the crowd. Even though the audience fully expects Yo Ho! to win the match, they still enjoy the effort put in by Miyoshi and Genda.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> After Silver and Amorous give their opponents simultaneous Bronco Busters in opposite corners, Joanna lifts Nami up and puts the Japanese Cruiserweight on her shoulders. The two adult entertainers try to convince Emiko and Nami to join in, but the Japanese Cruiserweights appear too disappointed with their defeat to be game for such activities.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As Miyoshi and Genda disappear backstage, Yo Ho! simply shrug their shoulders and start grinding on each other to more squeals of ecstasy from the fans.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Segment Rating: C</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> </strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><span>http://i.imgur.com/piZUmbD.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/evDD8Ly.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The audience’s joy does not last long as Glorious Monsters return with revenge on their minds. Once her stablemates have settled in on the theater floor, Svelte seemingly acknowledges Sentinel’s words, calling for the Violent Violet to go for the first hold. Simony cautiously reaches out for a headlock, only for Selina to quickly counter the move into a chicken wing.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Despite the rules of the match appearing to favor the technician in Selina, Sentinel manages to stay in the fight by wriggling out of her opponent’s constant stream of submission holds. While Svelte still gets the best of these exchanges, the Violent Violet begins to roll out a new repertoire of moves, surprising her foe with her technical acumen.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Ten minutes in, Selina borrows from Hoshiko’s playbook by putting Simony in the rolling leglock. Sentinel tries to break free, but each passing moment brings more pain to her knees. In one last burst of desperation, the purple haired wrestler reaches out and grabs the bottom rope, but the expected relief does not come. Instead, Simony looks out of the corner of her eye to see Tagawa up on the ring apron, distracting the referee from calling for the break.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Before the referee turns around, Svelte drags Sentinel back to the middle of the ring. Just when it looks like the Violent Violet will concede, Simony digs down deep and rolls over, reversing the hold on Selina to bring the buzzing crowd to their feet. The blonde technician cries out, both in shock and agony, before pounding on Sentinel’s leg to force Simony to break her grasp.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The two wrestlers reset, Selina frustrated at not being able to make her foe tap out yet. Letting this emotion creep into her usual machine-like demeanor in the ring causes Svelte to charge at Simony wildly, and Sentinel easily counters into a brainbuster. Instead of releasing her grip, the Violent Violet flips over, her arms still around Selina’s neck. Simony pulls back, cutting off Svelte’s airway, and as the other two members of Generation NOW rush into the ring, Selina is forced to tap before she passes out.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Winner via Submission: Simony Sentinel</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: D</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Simony gets up to celebrate her victory, but is immediately set upon by Maria and Hoshiko. Maria asks Kass for a temporary alliance, and the Queen of the Ring nods in acceptance, only to clothesline Guest from behind once the blonde turns her back on the 240-pound behemoth.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Flame and Winters try to double-team the new champion, but Kass lets out a roar as she counters each strike with a devastating blow of her own. Outside the ring, Hoshiko and Selina discuss strategy while Thea paces back and forth looking for the optimum time to strike with Kass holding her own so far. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> In this chaotic mix, the wrestlers involved try to pace the action so it builds to a thrilling finish, but this does not suit all of them equally. Trying to slow down her usual technique of all-out assault throws Claire off her game, while Maria steps up to put in a star-worthy performance near that of Kass and Laura, despite those two being much more over than Guest.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With no ladders set-up on the theater floor, Hoshiko and Selina make their first foray into the action by grabbing a ladder from under the ring. Over the objections of the referee, the two members of Generation NOW slide the object under the ropes to the waiting hands of Maria. Guest has little time to set the ladder up, though, as Claire delivers a spinning heel kick to the head of the leader of Generation NOW, causing all hell to break loose.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Tagawa and Svelte instantly invade the ring to be met by Winters. Davis decides that this is as good a time as any to enter the fray, joining Kass’ fight against Flame. Outnumbered, Fire N Ice manage to retreat to the floor, grabbing steel chairs and standing side by side to keep their charging foes at bay. Referee Gregory Chapman calls for order, but there will be none, as Hoshiko and Selina find the path of least resistance is attacking Generations.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Laura and Claire watch this sudden turn of events and decide to set up a table in hopes of taking out whoever remains standing from this battle. In the end, this survivor is Sista Kass, who after seeing Tagawa knock out Davis with a stiff forearm, sends the Japanese technician flying with a release German suplex. Svelte meets the same fate, nearly landing in the lap of the fans in the front row.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Kass gives a solitary snort in celebration of the devastation she has wrought, only to fall to the floor after being cracked against the back by two chairs from Fire N Ice. Winters and Flame drag the 240-pound wrestler to the table, but before they can lay the behemoth across it, an enraged Maria targets Claire with a flying cross body from the top turnbuckle, but Guest’s aim is slightly off, and she smashes into Laura instead.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Winters surveys this scene of carnage and then looks at the Queen of the Ring belt hanging in the air, realizing she now stands alone with glory calling to her. Sliding under the ropes, Claire quickly sets up the ladder and begins her climb, but just as she is about to reach the final step, Davis enters the ring. With Winters reaching out for the title, Thea waste no time in running over to the ladder and tipping it over, sending the Ice Woman crashing through the wooden table on the floor.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> This interference pushes the referee over the edge, finally fed up with his cries falling on deaf ears, and he calls for casino staffers to intercede. The dozen men and women oblige, dragging Hoshiko, Svelte, and a cursing Davis backstage while Maria gets back to her feet.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Just as Guest is setting the ladder back upright, a bandaged Simony Sentinel limps down the ramp with a determined look in her eye. Her former best friend does not wait for the Violent Violet to enter the ring, choosing to meet Simony on the floor, and the two women brawl into the crowd while Kass gets to her feet.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As Sentinel and Guest exchange punches around the room before disappearing backstage, Kass climbs back into the ring, only to be met by a recovered Flame. Laura aims to hit Kass with a Flame Fire Kick, but the 240-pound woman catches the former champion’s foot and swiftly picks up her up. Instead of slamming the redhead to the mat, Kass carries a struggling Laura to a corner, then powerbombs her onto Claire’s broken body below.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With Fire N Ice vanquished, Kass casually sets the ladder back upright, taking her time to climb the rungs to reclaim her belt and win the match.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Winner via Retrieval and Still DPW Queen of the Ring: Sista Kass</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match Rating: C- (53)</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Over the scene of broken wood and strewn bodies, Kass stands triumphant from the ladder, holding up the Queen of the Ring title for all to see. “Get used to it! DPW Roster Update - December 2018

Kate Avatar leans back in her chair at her home/office at Piper Casino in the first week of January 2019 and thinks back on the past three years. After surviving a bad economy and some poor financial choices, DPW finally managed to turn a profit of $6,000 in 2018, and the company feels like it has some momentum behind it heading into the new year.

That being said, the past month has not been all roses. Glorious Gloria thanked Hell Cat for her new contract by causing trouble in the locker room before Unwanted Gifts, which forced Avatar to fine the former bodybuilder one show's paycheck and question why exactly she is keeping Gloria around.

Then this week Kate received the news that Ariel Breaks suffered a hernia that will keep her out of action for at least three months while working for QAW. While this does not rise to the level of misfortune that 5SSW suffered when Fuyuko Higa broke her leg while on loan to WINNOW, Ariel's injury is still an annoyance and forced Kate to adjust the booking plans for Fire Within and All In All IV. This injury also makes Avatar reconsider her enthusiasm for what feels like half the roster being signed by QAW since November. On the bright side, Hell Cat knows that with no guaranteed downside in Breaks' newly negotiated contract, DPW will at least save almost $1,000 from Ariel sitting at home until Red Alert.

Lastly, Kate can't help but wonder what exactly is going on with Ursula Saez. While the Mayan Mauler's performances lately haven't been terrible, there has been a noticeable decline in the past few months of her in-ring work, not to mention a stand-offish attitude backstage. With Velvet Revolución scheduled for a Deuces Wild tag title shot in a few weeks, Avatar knows this is something to keep her eye on.

With a sigh, Hell Cat turns her attention to reviewing DPW's roster to see if the company can afford the plans she has for 2019.

I smell something fishy. Quite a few heavy names notably absent from the card, can't help but wonder what's going on...

:D

Oh, and I don't know what it says that Selina's intro music Bad Girls is what I also had/have down as Capitano's intro music in my QAW dynasty. Just haven't had time or reason to use it yet.

Ha, that is a coincidence. I had a note to use the song for someone for awhile, but could never find the right fit until Selina came along. I'd like to think that Capitano as more of a bad ass than a machine though, so it probably fits her better. ;)

Don't forget to pick the winner of the rumble. I didn't see anyone bolded in the list, but I can guess from the final four choices. :)

World Overview - December 2018

http://i.imgur.com/PBukOlG.jpg

First off, f*ck DPW and the belt you claim

No one gives a damn about no Laura Flame

Conspired with QAW to put out the hit

GSW is dead, but Women’s wrestling ain’t sheeeeeeeeeit

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

Always a glutton for punishment, Kate Avatar listens to Brother Grimm's latest diss track,
, for the fifteenth time in a row. After GSW folded in December, Grimm proceeded to release a series of songs aimed at those the rapper turned promoter blamed for his company's failure. IPW took the first few hits, then CZCW, but now it is DPW's turn. Not helping perceptions is that the meeting with QAW mentioned in the lyrics actually took place back in September, but not with the purpose or results Grimm imagines.

With GSW as the first casualty of the regional battle raging in the South West USA, Hell Cat is sad to see so many wrestlers lost their jobs, but at the same time, she's glad to have one less competitor to be judged against.

Of course, GSW is not the only company to have gone out of business in the last few months. Back under the leadership of Kaneie Komine, BHOTWG saved GCG and WEXXV from bankruptcy by snapping up those promotions for pennies on the yen. Far more important to Kate, CWWF finally went under, after an attempt to buy the company by The Guru fell through. Hell Cat's old adversary would not stay on the sidelines for long, picking the carcass of CWWF in bankruptcy court to form Knock Out Wrestling Forever (KOWF), Canada's newest all Women's Wrestling-based federation, with Lisa Bowen as head booker.

Thinking about the wrestlers KOWF signed to the company's initial roster, Avatar pulls the headphones out of her ears and turns to towards her laptop to check on the status of Women's wrestling in the world.

Beginning her review, Kate starts with the companies that feature only Women's wrestling first.

<p>It took me several sessions, but I've gotten through to present day on this diary. And it's my favorite TEW diary I've read. Not just of women's feds. Of any fed - CVerse, RW, or other.</p><p> </p><p>

I am now particularly tickled by my decision to play as Catherine Quine and lead AAA. I deeply enjoy the radically different characters we have created for Cat. In my diary universe, she's fairly level headed and seeks to create a more harmonious locker-room environment, while carrying the torch of women's wrestling to be seen as a worthy and worthwhile form of entertainment, fighting off huge corporations who want to co-op and sell out the idea of women's wrestling. In your diary, she's a petty, power-mad harpy with a vindictive streak and fairly open prejudices who would rather sink her competitors than have a rising tide lift all boats. What great is, I don't think either interpretation is "wrong" at all. In fact, a lot of the character traits you've given Cat Quine, I've given (and will be writing about) to Anne Stardust - who owned the company until 2015, who I have as the person most responsible for the Viv Jacobs homophobia, and with whom Cat has a difficult, complicated relationship.</p><p> </p><p>

In general, we're writing about a similar, and proportionately smaller, pool of workers. I'm excited to see how they diverge. Also, I'm absolutely stealing your interlude idea. I've done it to a point with the "wrestler spotlight" and story-text prior to the match card announcements, but I am thinking that I'm going to move to a system closer to yours, with a pure-story entry, followed by an entry to set up the event card, then re-cap the match. Who will get the most eliminations in the Rumble?: <strong>Monster Ishimura</strong></p><p>

I am also realizing that I need to talk about the world of women's wrestling in my universe writ large, to provide proper context for my fictional universe.

Thank you for the high praise! I am definitely having fun writing this. I'm hoping to do justice to the two shows coming up as I have been thinking about particular moments in them for awhile. I hope you continue to enjoy.

Yes, Cat Quine is definitely one of the top villains of this diary, but I am enjoying and appreciating your take on her. I know it sounds stupid, but in my TEW 2010 playthrough, I built up the rivalry between AAA and BSC so much in my head that it's ingrained in me to see Quine as the enemy. If I ever write it, there is a flashback with Kate and Anne Stardust, and my thoughts of Anne's characterization are akin to someone who is pragmatic and used Quine's fire to keep her company alive versus long odds, looking the other way at the more unsavory elements that came with that.

I will say that I am probably over-attached to Women's wrestling in the game, and part of that is due to the smaller pool of wrestlers. When somebody gets signed by one of the national companies, it feels like a big blow because there isn't necessary someone out there that can easily replace them. It also makes signing one of the big stars, or building one, a whole lot more fun because the challenge seems higher.

Please feel free to use the interludes. :) I know they have helped me build up the game world in my mind, and make seemingly innocuous things (Brother Grimm hating every owner in the Southwest after GSW went under, for example) potential storyline items. These have also forced me to go through character profiles more thoroughly, which I think has made the write-ups for events better.

Las Vegas Street Fight for the Queen of the Ring Title

I'll write more on the other comments after the show to avoid spoilers, but this is a very good point. The problem with an unstoppable monster is that eventually they have to be stopped, or the story gets boring. I've been dreading that USPW will come back and sign Kass, but I'm starting to think that won't happen, so hopefully I don't jinx it. At the same time, that would provide an out in terms of Kass' win streak. I guess we'll just have to stay tuned to see what happens. :D
