1.
Super-excited for today's entry.

With regards to excursions I wonder if this only applies to young lions and only to companies where the young lion system is in effect or whether you can send anyone away.

Would also be cool to see these one-sided relationships applied to worker relationships, too. Like, worker A hates worker B, but worker B has a neutral stance towards worker A.

 2.
Yeah, contrary to what Adam stated in today's journal entry, I don't think anyone suggested that the impact of star quality on area battles be completely removed.

I agree that the current way is far from perfect, but I really like the idea that you can't just have great matches in order to succeed as a a big company, but also need "stars" on your shows to draw interest as a promotion who is looking to go mainstream. This made playing performance-based companies in particular much more interesting in 2016.

I mean, the national battle system has always been a bit artificial, but as a game mechanic it made sense and made the game more challenging, which is always good. As others have stated, a good mixture between the 2013 and 2016 national battles systems would be the best solution.

Maybe some kind of penalty on show ratings for lack of star quality?

 3.
So, as a company I can invest in either a dojo or a performance center? Training schools are either pre-set in the editor or are being formed by retired wrestlers like they are at the moment?

Today's feature sounds really interesting, especially with the training and facility ratings. Adds another level of strategy into what is now called "training facilities" without over-complicating things.

 4. There's also the "Total Mayhem" match in the database. As Matt_Black mentioned, it's a match similar to the "War Games" match.
 5. Thanks for the clarification. That's good to hear. Today's "sticky" search criteria is not a small feature for me at all. I often switch back and forth between the workers section and other sections and find myself putting in the same criteria over and over again. So, this is one of my "make the player's life easier" features that I really appreciate.
 6.

Say if they are pre-set to "TV or Monthly" then they would presumably never have a big monthly show (e.g. PPV) if they have TV... or have I misunderstood this?

The way I read this journal entry, yes, AI companies will never run events if they have a tv deal. I really hope this is not the case and just a misunderstanding, cause that would be terrible.

 7.
Today's entry is very interesting, I like that there can now be different scheduling models for different companies. I'm also curious how the AI handles different schedules and different event intents. For example with a weekly schedule, will the AI realize that holding a normal event each week would be overkill and so would schedule lesser shows most of the time with the occasional "normal" event?

Some things are still unclear to me:

Constant - The AI creates a schedule with regular events throughout the year so that the company never goes more than a few days without a show.

So, I'll take it this model means that AI controlled companies will try to schedule several events per week? Interesting.

TV Or Monthly / TV Or Weekly / TV Or Constant - The AI creates a schedule using the Monthly, Weekly, or Constant strategies that have already been discussed. At the start of each month the company is checked for whether they have an active TV deal; if they do, the events are made dormant, if they don't then the events are made active.

I hope this doesn't mean that the AI will never run events if they have an active tv deal. For example, with a "regular" monthly schedule the AI will still run monthly events in conjunction with tv shows if they have an active deal, right?

 8.

Can someone help explain the Workers expenditure to me? I was of the understanding that it is solely workers' wages. But my monthly wage bill is $600k yet my monthly outgoings in this category range anywhere from $700k to $2m. I don't offer bonuses or signing on fees and I've not terminated any contracts. All my guys are on Written deals too...

What about travel expenses?

 9. How long does it take until a freelancer is willing to work for me again after their contract has run out?
 10. From the in-game help: "If a location is a 'hotbed' it means that the fans there are renowned for being rowdy and pro-wrestling; this will result in hotter (but more demanding) crowds, and higher attendance levels." Just saying.
 11.

I would consider most NJPW korauken shows (and equivalents)to be “lesser” events and not outright tour shows. Those are always advertised much more and sometimes even have title matches. It’s not the same as a single cam show in a gymnasium that other tour shows might be.

For example, the G1 is a “tour” but hardly any of those would be considered touring level events. It’s a tour consisting of nothing but relevant matches.

I don't know. Yes, Korakuen shows are a bit more special than other "Road To..." shows, but I don't think that's because they would be consider more than a "touring show" (in game terms). Korakuen Hall is a wrestling hotbed (as represented in the game) and therefore the crowds expect somewhat bigger matches, which NJPW usually gives them. To me, Korakuen shows (maybe except for special cases like New Year Dash) are regular touring shows, but held in a wrestling hotbed so that the player has to put on "bigger" matches than in other arenas.

I mean, it's tricky. Not every real life scenario can be accurately replicated in the game, so I can see your point.

Also, it's not just the Korakuen touring shows that are being broadcast in full length on NJPW World, although a lot of them are.

Again, we don't know yet how the touring system in TEW 2020 looks like, so it could all make sense in the end. But right now, I don't see a reason why touring shows should be exempt from being able to be broadcast.

 12.
Really like today's announcement of different show levels. And I agree with previous posters that there should also be a level that is higher than "normal". Perhaps it can be something similar to the "season finale" feature where attendances and tv audiences are higher, but fan expectations are as well and which can be only be used once, maybe twice a year.

Tour shows are specifically meant to be part of Japanese-style tours (more on them in a later entry) and are not designed for use outside of a company that is running that sort of schedule. These shows are automatically not broadcast (but can be taped for highlights) and the attendance levels are much lower than normal.

I realize there's going to be a separate entry for touring shows and maybe you'll explain this then, but is there any particular reason why touring shows can only be broadcast on highlight shows? I'm not familiar with other Japanese companies, but NJPW airs at least some of their touring shows live on their subscription service all the time.

 13. Has the price for TEW 2020 been decided yet? Will it stay the same?
 14.
Regarding A.I. call-ups from development, I'm curious to how this works. Surely the A.I. can't be intelligent enough to know that they need a wrestler from development in the future. Let's say the advance notice period is one month, I can't imagine that the A.I. knows there's a free roster spot to fill, but only one month from now (or does it?).

Or does the A.I. only call workers if there's no room for improvement anymore?

Really interested on how this turns out.

 15. Very excited for this, although I'm not joining the "take my money already" camp like some other posters without knowing how the game will actually look like. As usual I'll take a wait-and-see-approach with the game. Having said that, I expect this game to be awesome as all the other games in the TEW series before. Since the developer's journal starts so early, I'd like to read what some of the developments are within the default database once it has been decided upon.
 16. If a match is called in the ring, is the wrestlers' psychology more likely to improve and/or are the psychology gains higher than in a match that is not called in the ring?
 17.

It makes the skill essentially irrelevant with the exception of gimmicks, because unless you have a product that doesn't need gimmicks they will still need gimmicks that they can play well.

That's not true. If the company has no face/heel divide those ratings are ignored when determing the gimmick rating.

 18. Is a wrestler's psychology more likely to improve in a match that is being called in the ring as opposed to being scripted or without any of these notes at all?
 19.

Ok I gotcha! Personally I like Kevin Kelly and Don Callis, they're actually calling whats happening in the match and the names of the moves, as well as interacting with the wrestlers. Unlike say Michael Cole who are not allowed to speak freely and whose only job is to put out punchlines and promote the soap opera that is WWE.

He's probably talking about Lanny Poffo.

 20.

Chase is pure garbage and shouldn’t even be in New Japan let alone in World Tag League.

Dude looks like crap and is crap.

Gotta love wrestling fans and their objectivity. Always level-headed and with substance.

And the threshold is in fact 41 (D).

Can't remember the tag experience they have to reach...

I don't have the game in front of me right now, but I think it's 41.1 (D). Click the "?" button on the tag team screen, it'll tell you the correct number.

 23.

The one you pick as the loser, will be the first man eliminated.

That's at least something. Thank you, hammerglenn and deknegt for replying.

 24. According to this page: http://gds.wikia.com/wiki/PGHW_Historical_Japan_Championship the belt used to be an independent title before being adopted by PGHW when they signed Nobuatsu Tatsuko, the champion at the time. Not sure if any of this is actual canon, though.
 25.

Unfortunately there is no road agent note that allows you to pick who gets eliminated in what order. You can only specify the worker who wins the match.

This is something that I have asked in the past, but has been overlooked for a few TEW's now.

So, it doesn't even matter who I pick as the loser?
