<p>As GAMMA, a small summary of my reality show results:</p><p> </p><p>

Season 2 Welterweight:</p><p> </p><p>

Evan Gardner defeats Felix Mattherson Jr in the finals by unanimous decision (poor match). Notable cast mates included semi finalists Chad Zoff and Rich Robinson, Delroy Rhodes, Houston George and Ray Eaton.</p><p> </p><p>

Season 3: Toby Sorkin defeats Adrian Pascal via Triangle Choke at 4:50 of Round 1 in a Good match. Sorkin wins Sub of the night. Notable cast mates included semifinalists Logan Bluffer and McGregor Dare, Jerry Bogdonovich, Cal Hillson, Big Magic and Jericho Stewart.</p><p> </p><p>

Season 4: Carl Chenoweth defeats Warren Kitt by Unanimous Decision in a good fight. Notable cast mates included semifinalists Floyd Haywood and Clifton Curry, Drauzio Simaan, Gregory O'Hara (shockingly TKO'd by Robby Lynn in the quarters), Robby Lynn, Wilson Morais and Kade Devine. </p><p> </p><p>

I am running a heavyweight season. So far Chuck Dooley was TKO'd by Damien Jones in the quarters in a big upset considering he was my fav. to win. I guess I see Renato winning now.</p>

Cal Hillson's been going on a tear. I picked him up just as a cheap replacement; he's an uncomplicated brawler, figured he'd be a cheap can for a few fights. Instead, he's beaten up Rupert Dreck, Alex Cole, and William Harrison, all fighters who should have been able to take him easily. I can only assume that the big right hand is scrambling some brains.

I'm taking it too seriously and comparing it to real life too much, but I don't think popularity gain is tuned right and the fan feedback feature isn't as useful as I would hope because of the strictness of the requirements.

Edit: Just read the 1.10 patch notes and I'm a happy camper. What an amazing patch.

Pop gain seems pretty harsh under 1.10, actually. As a low regional company I got a 35% commercial rating (10% above the target) and 93% critical rating (2 excellents, including the main event!) and gained 0.7%.

With only four or five shows per year, that's a very long slog to get anywhere, losing money all the way.

Rookie of the Year Herbert Faber's 2002 has gotten off to a bad start, losing to fellow Welshman Mick Curran (to be fair, Faber was a massive outsider on the betting line, I should've looked at that instead of Curran's ranking (16th, vs. Faber's 5th).

Will Kane also lost his Welterweight title. Despite knocking David Webb down in every round, he was unable to finish him, and Webb made him tap to an armbar late in the 5th. Webb will probably now face Mills Mullally, who's muscled his way into the third ranking spot ahead of Vikram Sithalyan by way of knocking out Paddy McNamara. McNamara was on a streak of knocking out non-local guys on local shows, so I signed him for a tryout, and countryman Mullally put a dent in his record, as well as his face.

A fun storyline is developing in the Middleweight division too. Edgar van den Hoogenbrand knocked out Hans-Peter Schneider on our first card, and then later STOLE, and I do mean STOLE, a split decision win against fellow up-and-comer Heath Kaldaris (who has since fallen off the face of the earth, losing his next two fights to complete cans), EvdH just beat Rhys Buck in the battle of the up and comers (both had records of 7-0 going in), which has left him right in the mix for a Middleweight title shot once Drugsgate gets sorted out.

Talking of Drugsgate, Ginger Beaumont recently beat Tucker Plumm, which I wasn't expecting. The plan was for Plumm to win, to cement his credibility as a title contender. He's always been a top contender since the game started, but in his recorded fight history, only had wins over Rob Baines (which is impressive, but it was 8 years ago now) and Wayne McKellen, who's been so bad in my game he wants to fight at Welterweight from now on (his minimum weight is right on the WW upper limit). Losing to Ginger presents a problem, because he obviously can't have a title shot for a while now. So the interim title match is Ginger vs. Rush, which is... inadequate.

Best case scenario, Beaumont beats Rush, Spyrou beats Baines, then Beaumont beats Spyrou. That way I end up with a new champion who hasn't been there before, but has beaten all the credible contenders, and Baines doesn't have any reason to be near the title picture for a while until people forget he's a cheat. If I'm lucky, I can have EvdH beat Baines on his way up, too...

Heavyweight-wise, it's pretty settled. And by settled I mean stagnant. Harry Milne is the only decent contender on the roster, and he's only beaten guys in the lower half of the rankings. Vic Millican made it to #4, but then lost a split decision to Dave Lennon who Potter's already beaten. Might have to splash some cash on a foreign import to spice things up. That, or have Gary McSweegan step up from LHW. McSweegan is technically the #2 ranked heavyweight in the company, but fights at LHW by preference. He's beaten a few of the top 10 in the lighter class recently, but also won a catchweight fight with Eddie Whelan, so I'm reasonably confident he could be a contender if needed.

New LHW champion George Laurent is probably the BCF champion with the most genuine contenders gunning for him. He beat Lenny McFadden for the vacant title after Kitson left for Japan, which I wasn't expecting at 40 years old, but from a strictly business standpoint it was the best result. Aforementioned McSweegan, Thikhon Diev and Neville Granville are all on hot streaks (Herbert Faber of course no longer is, having been stopped in his tracks). Granville, especially, has been impressive, knocking out Mick Curran (slayer of Herbert Faber), Murray O'Hare (who, to be fair, has been awful) and Daniel Hornsby. I'm thinking Granville vs. Diev is the obvious next step, as Diev is on a hot streak and both have four flames, so whoever wins will be red hot going into the title match. Plus it's a classic styles clash, as Diev is a great wrestler, while Granville has no wrestling ability at all, just a powerful fist.

Finally in the Lightweight division, Seth O'Breen got through his title fight with Doug Hanson unscathed, and probably the best fighter pound for pound in the company will be facing either Rupert Lennox or Gordon Idle next. Idle is the higher ranked, but Lennox has been by far the most impressive during gameplay and has five flames of heat to prove it. Plus Idle already lost to O'Breen in 2000.

Hmph. Needed to come up with a decent main event after an injury meant McSweegan vs. McFadden couldn't happen, so I pulled the trigger on Harry Milne's title shot against Carter Potter. Milne won!

On the plus side, this means that 50% of my titles are held by Catch Wrestlers (50% because the Middleweight title is still vacant). Go Team Wigan!

Three years into my Texas-based company with two female divisions, and things are finally moving.

An internet-based broadcast got our popularity surging into mid-regional, and while sharing half our roster with WEFF is an annoyance, the roster is big enough to still put on 5-6 shows a year.

Piper Evergood is the Featherweight champion, with Hope Lehane, Hayley Croft and Kelly Andrews the main contenders.

Vicki Summers just took the Bantamweight title from Hester Maclean, but Rain Richards and Clare Peyton are on huge streaks and either could take the title in the coming months.

Buddy Garner is sneaking close to a title shot again since getting cut from GAMMA after going 4-4. He beat two guys on local shows and I brought him back to fortify a card in need of names. He's beat Maarten de Vries and Joey Valdez (who was 18-0 at the time), who aren't such big victories, but he's been very dominant and finished both in the first round. I added the "loves to roll" attribute to Garner and that seems to have been just what the doctor ordered. He might turn out to be too good.

(I don't remember who started writing summaries of their events in WMMA3-land but it's a great exercise for both the writer and the reader to build narratives in their own game. Also for reference I've deleted all of the fighter records in the game.)

GAMMA Battle Lines 4: Boyer vs. Kapur

Saturday, 4th of February, 1998

Davey Rushton's ill-timed ankle injury put a stop to his defense of the GAMMA Superheavyweight title on free TV, but what GAMMA delivered was nonetheless a spectacular and eventful night.

Kapur Breaks Boyer with Liver Kick

Rav Kapur may be James Foster's first truly legitimate challenger in years.

The undefeated Brit (11-0, 2-0 GAMMA) won rounds 1, 2 and 4 with seeming ease as he put punching combinations and leg kicks past Tim Boyer's guard. The height difference, which many predicted Boyer would make use of, proved inconsequential as Kapur slipped inside his long punches and kicks to tee off on the American. Halfway through the fight Boyer found more success in the clinch and landed some good knees and short punches, but Kapur managed to shake him off and continue his barrage. In the fifth, Kapur threw an overhand and then crunched Boyer's left side with a vicious kick. Boyer covered up against the cage and another overhand right put his lights out in a brutal KO. Kapur may be the perfect 'anti-wrestler' that Foster has yet to encounter in his near six year reign.

The menacing heavyweight left the fans, and a bewildered Garth Ward, with a few simple words. 'You go in there. You do your job. I want Foster.'

We'll have to see what the future holds for Tim Boyer (26-5-2, 6-3 GAMMA). A fight with recent title challenger Duke Aiona seems to make sense, with both men occupying uncertain ground after being thoroughly beaten by top-class fighters.

Thomas Puts the Pressure on Smith

In a fight-of-the-night performance by both men, Patrick Thomas (19-4, 4-2 GAMMA) followed up every lead right with a power-packed left hand to end Thomas Smith's night via TKO at 1:32 of the third round. While Smith manged to use his lead left hook to consistently counter Thomas' assaults, and even managed to double leg his way past Thomas' vaunted sprawl in the second round, the hard-charging Patrick Thomas caught him with a flush left hook and follow up punches on the ground to end the fight in the third. Thomas' brawling tactics were heavily criticized by GAMMA analyst Garth Ward but they proved effective, if reckless, throughout the bout. Thomas throws every variety of punch with his left, and it packs power. A number one contender's fight is presumably in his future after such a performance.

Thomas Smith (15-4, 7-4 GAMMA) was disappointed in his performance and although he hung in there the former title challenger seems somewhat dead in the water at this point. One would have to think he'd get a chance to redeem himself against someone less intimidating than 'The Titan'.

Marlon John is Safe and Sound in Victory over Kendall Tracey

Marlon John (14-1, 5-1 GAMMA) delivered a solid if mundane - performance against Kendall Tracey. Consistent takedowns and solid control on the ground spelled 30-27 on all three scorecards and put John back in the title race. The performance was, for some, disappointing and lacking in the typical explosive bursts of violence that accompany John's ground and pound, but in the words of the man himself: 'You just gotta get that W.'

Tracey (10-3, 4-3 GAMMA), meanwhile, probably finds himself facing a lower echelon fighter or perhaps taking on Ricky Heath, who last month was brutally knocked out in the first round by Spencer Rubenstein's elbow.

Jake Keane Delivers Submission of the Night In Second GAMMA Fight

Jake Keane (26-4, 2-0 GAMMA) keeps climbing towards the top of the GAMMA lightweight division. He easily dispatched of H.M. Menzel (14-6, 7-4 GAMMA) tonight with a first round armbar at 3:31, displaying his vast grappling acumen by dumping Menzel on his ass before transitioning into the armbar. Keane now finds himself ranked second in GAMMA's internal rankings, and presumably facing the winner of the Sugar/Morisson title rematch.

Den Bickersteth: Probably For the Best

Frank Paul (9-1, 2-1 GAMMA) was undefeated professionally and about to step into the octagon to fight for the title against the man who beat him in Clash of the Titans. With Rushton's ankle scrapped, and the title fight along with it, Den Bickersteth (3-0, 1-0 GAMMA) agreed to make his debut in the stead of the injured champion.

Three minutes and one second, one gigantic swing, and Frank Paul's lights were turned completely out. The hard slugging Bickersteth caught him with a long lead uppercut - a punch curiously similar to one of Rushton's signature weapons - and scrapped Paul's title dreams. Frank Paul came in throwing hands instead of using his wrestling game, and it cost him dearly.

Prelim results

Sutton Ripley (18-3, 6-2 GAMMA) knocked out returning Buddy Garner (14-3, 4-3 GAMMA) in two minutes. Where does Garner go from here?

Yevgeni Sipatov (29-9, 5-2 GAMMA) outboxed and outfoxed prospect Tyler Lass (8-2, 3-2 GAMMA) to a clear unanimous decision.

Gladstone Lopes (16-1-1, 3-1 GAMMA) took the knockout of the night with a dramatic uppercut finish of veteran Stan Blackheath (22-12. 0-1 GAMMA) in the very first round.

Darin Blood (15-6, 3-2 GAMMA returned to form by taking Callum Henson's (22-9, 0-2 GAMMA) neck in a scramble and holding on until the tap.

1659 purchased tickets to the event.

TV ratings to be determined.

(This gets way more fun once you get a few years into the game and real narratives start emerging, but I thought I'd warm up just two events into my GAMMA game.)

Just finished 2007. My company is now at high regional, but XCC introduced two women's divisions and stole half a dozen of my fighters (in addition to ALPHA stealing a few).

Nonetheless, I just put on my best show yet - 74% commercial and $1.4 million profit. Piper Evergood was the Featherweight champion, with a 6-0 record in my company. However, she suffered a major injury in late 2005, which saw her stripped of the title.

Regen Sherry Clean took over, and by late 2007 had a 6-0 record. Evergood had returned and won her first fight back.

The stage was set for an epic showdown to end the year.

Well, as it turned out, Evergood won by KO in two minutes, but it was still damned profitable!

Something has gone rather wrong with this regen.

World Calibre Wrestling and High Level Kick Boxing backgrounds, and she has 22.8% for wrestling and into the 70s for her kicking.

http://i.imgur.com/2fBsfob.png

I may be wrong but I think background is the max limit they will eventually progress to.

So her kicking probably won't get much better while her wrestling will eventually surpass her kicking. At least that is my interpretation of the background attributes.

Ken Peters is on a five fight win streak in which all fights have gone to decisions. He has beaten four top ten guys, including Toby Sorkin who I wanted to win the title. None of the fights have scored above "Poor," and he still has -4 momentum.

I'm thinking about just cutting him. This is just ridiculous.
